Nothing special. Huge portions. OK prime rib. Good prices, especially on specials night (Thursday for the Prime Rib). Service is good, and the waitresses are mostly friendly and attentive. Decor is right out of the 70's Mel's Diner era in Tucson. Sometimes, I feel like I might see Linda Lavin at the next table...but unfortunately, I never do. :(

Great little place! Service was nice and prompt. Food was delicious! Prices reasonable :) We would definitely go back! We both had perfect steaks with their amazing steak fries, and the beans are like a yummy thick chili. And how cute are the boots they serve their drinks in? :) Only thing that would be better is if they had AC but definitley still worth going

I don't get it. I just don't. Other people have great fondness for a place that, to me, seemed like a restaurant from the past that should have been left there - like a Beefsteak Charlie's or Howard Johnsons fell through a worm hole and landed in the desert. Old everything, food without grace or flavor (aside from salt). I think people might like that this place won't overly challenge your tastebuds if you grew up on canned beans, cheap steaks, and iceberg lettuce salads. Maybe it's just hard for me to have culinary nostalgia for bad food. Nice wagon wheel though. Yes, a wagon wheel.

This is a great place for steaks, prime rib, chops etc. it's quaint cozy and very family friendly. Food is fantastic, prime rib was some of the best I have ever had. Juicy flavorful and comes in 3 sizes. You get many choices for sides. Great service as we. It's a hidden gem.

This is my favorite restaurant of all time! I love Cody's to no end!! I eat in this restaurant almost every week sometimes even more than once a week and never once in the 7 years I've been eating here have I ever had a bad experience with anything here! I have tried every soup of the day they have and have loved them all and all of their sandwiches and cuts of meat are astounding! The staff is great and very attentive (but not overly) and always very friendly! I highly recommend the soup of the day no matter what it is and the French Dip is a personal favorite of mine! The Fried Zucchini is the best of anywhere and is to die for and their cheesecake (and all other desserts) while not amazingly unique are certainly a satisfactory way to end any meal! This place is the tops of the business and is an absolute must eat if you are in Tucson!!!

Hubby and I have driven by this place so many times with a half notion we might "someday" check it out. Someday was today and we have been missing out. It was our loss. We had half rack of ribs, good to the last finger lick with steak fries. Fresh and crisp, but not too crisp. My burger was the best burger I have ever eaten. I believe they fresh grind it. It was cooked exactly like I ordered. My new go to crave a burger place - finally! Our waitress was quick and efficient. The place belies the delicious food. We will visit again soon Cody. Very soon.

This is an inexpensive, informal restaurant to get a steak dinner, salad, coleslaw and vegetables. My wife had the bacon wrapped pork chops and liked 'em. This place is okay for kids and old folks too.

Ok I saw the reviews about the burger so I decided to try for myself THESE ARE THE BEST BURGERS IN TOWN!!! Seriously though, these are great burgers. I really tried to think if I have had a better burger in town and the answer is no. Every part of the burger was great. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The bun was perfectly toasted with butter but the absolute star was the beef. It was perfectly cooked liked I asked, it was juicy and perfectly seasoned. I could have eaten the beef patty all alone and been so satisfied. My family and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend Cody's

I have been to Cody's a few times now and while I REALLY want to like the place more, it's fairly average. The portions are good. The waitstaff has always been great - very responsive and nice people. But I have never walked out of the place thinking I had a great meal - whether it's steak, pork chops or the chicken sandwich. Why does it stay on my list? They are reliable, and convenient, which can't be said of some places in town.

This place has been here for a very long time. I had a lunch special that was gravy, noodles and meat like mom made. Just terrific. I went for dinner with out of towners but that was when I noticed how freshly remodeled it seemed. Old time style in new materials did not really work for ambiance. This is a case of people are never really happy, whereas not run down and seedy that would be bad, but 1890 captain chairs with no 'character' is not right either. Dinner was average.

Cody's Beef'n Beans is a tried and true favorite, like perfectly aged leather... it's Western perfection. They serve up high quality food at fair prices, with a generous helping of lots and lots of old farts. If you think a geriatric cafeteria is where it's at, you'll be right at home at Cody's. Seriously, the vibe might be walkers and Worcester sauce, but it's a complementary combo. The service here is tops. The waitresses are super kind and ever thoughtful, catering to gramp's and gram's every need. Makes an ordinary chick like me feel downright special. I've driven here on many occasion for two very specific things: 1) Fish Sandwich 2) Peanut Butter Fudge Pie In my gluttonous gluten eating days - these two items were my holy grail! OMG. If you like fish sammich's and peanut butter pie - look no further. I don't need to explain, just get here and check em' out for yourself. Now that I'm doing the whole GF thing, I absoluely adore the Smoked Salmon Salad. I order it with their homemade ranch sauce. Nom. Nom. Nom. I lick my plate clean, and I can get away with it because everyone else around me has cataracts n' macular degeneration - they can't see me, and they don't care anyway. (Heck - I'm half their age and I can't see a thing either!). My husband loves their Porterhouse Steaks. I don't eat red meat, so I can't vouch for them. If you get here close to closing like we always do, they're often out, and he settles for the Prime Rib, which he likes too - but it's a distant second.

Driven by this place for years. This place his a hidden gem. Burger was cooked perfect. Truly the best burger in TOWN. I'm a very picky eater, this food was awesome. Peanut butter pie to die for.

This was a pleasant surprise. Went here with friends-first time there. Their prices are very reasonable and their specials are a great deal. Dinner specials are only $12.95 Mon-Thurs. We went Thursday for the prime rib (8 oz) special. Noticed on Friday and Sat there is a 12 oz. T-bone special. Hours the special is offered is 4-9 PM. They have lunch specials as well. My friends had the prime rib special and I had the T-bone steak. We described how we wanted the meat cooked (have found it helpful to describe how pink or red the inside would be) and got what we requested. The meat was tender and tasty. Steak fries and beans were good and the bread was especially good. The menu is at: codysbeef.com/#!blank/c1… where you can check the specials by day. The atmosphere is old west and casual. There is a separate dining area that accommodates a group. Service was great and we enjoyed ourselves.

Still one of the best burgers in town! I always recommend Cody's to people that are looking for a good burger and I've yet to be told I let them down. We usually order to go and they never forget anything and pack everything with care. Their chicken sandwich is great too as well as steaks and to top if off service is always very friendly.

Went to Cody's for the first time last night and I was impressed. In fact, I was blown away. I was greeted with a smile the minute I walked into the room, as I approached my table she came up so I said "I already know what I want". Did she say "your waitress will be right with you"? No! She said "ready when you are". Good sign #1: when she brought my tea, she also brought an extra pitcher to my table so I could refill the iced tea myself! And, and extra glass containing nothing but ice! Good sign #2: the entire salad was extremely fresh and crisp! Good sign #3: the BEST steak fries I have ever had, lots of'em, along with an extra side (I took veggies) and a very nice strip steak - all this for 14 bucks? Hot rolls and butter too? Incredible! The service was outstanding (thank you Ashley!) and I will go back to Cody's whenever I can.

Me and my family went out for a late lunch early dinner. I searched yelp to find a decently rated steak house. I came across "Cody's Beef 'n Beans". I first thought what a strange name, then I looked at the reviews and it appeared people either loved or wasn't fond of this place at all. I decided we would give it a chance. So, when we pulled up the parking lot was very small but empty so we had no problems finding a spot. We walked and was greeted by a dry erased board "sit where ever you like". We had a seat and shortly after an older woman approached and said hello and that are waitress would be with us shortly. Approximately 5 minutes later a very dull expression young woman arrived and gave us our menu. She said the soup of the day is "clam chowder" and walked away. We didn't have time to ask any questions or give the drink order. A few minutes later she reappeared and took our drink order. (She said the root bear was great, which I took her advice) She dropped the drinks off and scurried off again. Well, we all had a few questions about the menu and recommendations. The only advice she gave was too get larger portions.. Well, I took her advice and instead of getting the 8oz Prime Rib I go the 12oz (med rare). Another person in my party got the prime rib but the 8oz (med). The other two people got the patty melt and the French dip. The two prime ribs came with a side salad or soup. We both got the salad. This was a sad disappointment. It was basically all lettuce. The gave a carrot (only 1), olive (only 1), celery (only 1), and a tomato (again only 1). The only positive about the salad was the house ranch dressing it was creamy and good. The food came out a short time later. She dropped it off and didn't show back up for another 6 or 8 minutes. Which was a problem since the person who ordered the French dip thought the meat was completely dry and wanted to exchange the meal for something else. Also, the temp of the small prime rib was more rare. The prime rib was just "ok" it need seasoning and marinated . It was very bland. I really expected the beans to be out of this world (since the name of the business has beans in it ). Well, they were basically pinto beans with a bbq sauce over them. When they reheated the 8 oz prime they cooked it well done. I asked for a refill on my root bear and they said it didn't have free refills (wasn't informed of when I ordered) so I changed my drink to a RC cola which did have free refills. When the bill arrived they charged me for both drinks. I also thought the would have taken the $8.00 French dip or because of the dry meat, they didn't. All in all it wasn't very good. I would recommend this place. I expected so much more. It was truly a sad meal and the bill ended up being 80 bucks for a meal no one really enjoyed.

This is the first restaurant I was taken to in Tucson 20 years ago, and I've loved it ever since. The place is cozy--the Western motif is kitschy fun-- but has plenty of tables; we've never had to wait. It's pleasantly quiet, maybe because the other patrons always seem to tend toward the senior. People who appreciate low prices and big portions. There's something to be said for having dinner at 5:00. Plenty of time to digest. Cody's (the "Beef 'n Beans" part sounds unappetizing to me, so I just call it Cody's) has the best hamburgers I've ever tasted. Get the steak fries with it, but plan on a doggy bag. (One time I thought I'd get fish, just for a change, and I quickly changed back to burgers. That was years ago; maybe the fish has gotten better.) This is also the place to go for a delicious steak. New on the menu is a filet mignon that's to die for, but you don't have to sell a kidney to pay for it. The service is always impeccable. You get your food pretty quickly considering this is NOT fast food, and the people who work there are friendly/cheerful without being perky/annoying. I'm moving out of Tucson soon, and on my list of things I have to do, preferably more than once, is have another Codyburger.

Solid. Old fashioned. Basic. Good beef, great burgers, and friendly service. It's the kind of neighborhood place that serves solid fare at decent prices. Never been disappointed, but never been overwhelmed, but I will continue to patronize.

Cody's was an interesting experience. It was kitschy in decor. But not overwhelmingly so. My husband and I did an early dinner there (4pm) and we were one of only 3 tables of people. The server was working as hostess and waitress and did a fantastic job. We got a basket of delicious homemade bread. YUM! We also ordered mozzerella sticks (my husband's fave) and they were generous in portion and flavor. Not bad at all. We both ordered ribeyes and were thrilled with the char, and cook (medium) on them both. The cut was great too. Not too fatty, not too thin, etc. Delicious. The veggies were fresh, steamed without tons of butter and such. Very good. As a whole...a great new steak place has been discovered. Not too expensive, delicious food, cute place. We'll be back for sure.

Went there last night for a business dinner. Group of 10 and not one of us had ever been there! Food was wonderful! All but one ordered steaks and they were cooked to perfection. One that ordered the pork chops raved about them. Mixed reviews on the beans...most liked them, a couple were not thrilled. I had a taste and the best way to describe is pinto beans with tomato, BBQ sauce and a hint of bacon. Portions were generous and the price very fair! Parking is definitely an issue, but that won't deter me from returning.

I've been in Tucson going on a decade, and I used to live right down the road from Cody's, but yet, I hadn't tried it until this past week. Man, have I been missing out! This place is just downright good. Upon entering, I had a bad feeling. The parking was a pain in the butt, and frankly, it put me in a bit of a mood. But, I still had an open mind, even though you walk in and there's basically a wall in front of you. We didn't know what to make of it. Around the wall, it's a big open space of tables, but where was the hostess stand? We were kinda confused as to what to do -- stand by the wall and wait or go near the register off to the side -- but a waitress whizzed by us and told us to pick a seat and she'd be right with us. She wasn't right with us, but we were busy reading the cool old newspapers that decorate the tables. A different waitress noticed that no one had greeted us yet, and took our drink order. Our drinks were never empty from then on! Huge plus! We even had a bottle of Sarsaparilla, which was pretty cool. And they serve their soft drinks in a boot mug! Come on, that's just plain fun! The menu is pretty standard steak and potatoes fare, with some sandwich and salad options. I had the Cody's combo (ribs, sirloin, two sides, and a salad) and my husband had the bacon-wrapped filet (also with two sides and a salad). I believe that all the meals come with some bread first. The bread was clearly fresh. It was soft and actually really good. Lots of flavor. The salads were pretty standard, but the ranch was good. Both of our steaks were cooked to how we ordered them, which was medium for both. Finally, a place that doesn't overcook steak! The steaks tasted like they were fresh and good quality, which the restaurant claims they are. I believe it. They were tender and succulent. They were only lightly seasoned, but it worked. My ribs were excellent! The sauce on them was sweet and just plain yummy. The meat fell off the bone, that's how tender they were. They were so good, that I think next time I'm going to get just a plate of them! The sides were ok. The baked potato was cooked well, and they gave plenty of butter and sour cream. The beans were more like a chili. They're in a tomato kind of sauce, but they were quite good. I was boring with my other side, I just had cottage cheese, but they gave a gigantic portion of it! For dessert, we had the peanut butter pie. That stuff is good! For something with peanut butter, it was actually light and fluffy. And for only $4 for a slice, you can't walk in there and NOT get some! Overall, we were pleasantly surprised. We really enjoyed our meal, and the ambiance wasn't even so bad (it's not generally our style). The service was fine. The prices are pretty reasonable for the good quality meat and the big portions. My biggest complaint is that they didn't seem to have the A/C on. It's too hot out here in August for that. I know we'll be back, but I may wait until it cools off a little in case they are stingy with the A/C or something.

not a place I will frequent there was nothing special. The steak was ok not very flavorful and the beans tasted out of a can. The ribs had no flavor but the best part were the steak fries and bread, but for two of us they only gave us one piece of bread. The waitress was nice enough but not personable. Definitly will try other places before coming back here. It was not worth the price. I would definitly be willing to pay double gor a great steak than go here again.

As good as it is unpretentious. It's a strip mall restaurant that I've driven past countless times until this evening. It's a what you see is what you get kind of restaurant. Longhorns and wagon wheels motif. It's a straight up meat lovers restaurant, not a good place to bring a vegetarian. ;) I had the rib eye and my wife had the prime rib. My steak was pretty good, one of the better steak's I've had in Tucson. My wife's prime rib was good. They weren't sparing with the au jus which was a plus. Something that I don't normally comment on were their steak fries. They were great! Crispy without being burnt. The beans were just ok. The prices were fair, and overall it was a very enjoyable meal. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to have a good meal that isn't caught up on pretense or presentation.

We had a group of 11 and everyone was pleased with their meal. I had baby back ribs that compare to the best I ever had. Portions were generous. Plus service was great. A person in our party spilled his beer and they replaced it compliments of the house. If I'm in Tucson and want beef, this is where I'll go for sure.

OMG!! I cant believe I never knew about this spot. I would drive pass this all the time. Believe a few friends have mentioned it before. Me and my bf was craving steak after a friend had posted a picture on fb. Instead of joining him I decided to find one close to where I live. Yelp your so helpful, I was so surprise to see that the other steakhouses I expected to have a 5 star review had less stars than this place. Cody's had the most review with the most stars! Putting my taste buds on my fellow yelpers hands we gave it a try and we were so thankful for yelp. The dinner salad was fresh, small but the perfect portion to start off. The dinner roll was this cute personal size pull apart bread loaf. It was warm and freshly baked. I had a 12 oz prime rib and thru past experience i decided to go medium this time and though it had barely any pink inside, its was moist and perfect just like if I was to order it medium rare. My bf got the New York strip and it was just perfect. The best part about our dinner was that it was less than $40!!!!! That's what I spend at applebee's ordering off the appetizer menu.... We had overheard a waitress talk about there daily specials. Thursdays for prime ribs and Friday & Saturday for NY Strip for a smoking deal!!! ( I may be wrong) TRY IT!!! Don't be surprise if I become a regular here :)

First off, the service was great. We had a very tired six year old with us and she handled it very well. Having said that, my wife and I ordered the Prime Rib and it was...meh. You could only get it medium or above (today) and the cut was not the best. Outside of that, a good little local place to go.

Just came back from Cody's for my birthday. I saw the reviews and decided to give them a shot. Right away, they had me at cold bottles of Sioux City Sarsaparilla. I ordered the 12 ounce rib-eye for 19 bucks. It came with a soup or salad (I got the soup), a half basket of bread, fries and a cup of beans. I wanted the baked potato but we had a rather early dinner/late lunch, and they don't have baked potatoes until four. Oh, and a rib-eye. It also came with a rib-eye. Our server was prompt and brought us water right away and took our drink orders. The bottles of sarsaparilla were ice cold. Three bucks a piece and I had two. Because that's how I roll. They also give you a boot glass I haven't seen since I was eight, with ice to pour it in. The soup was New England clam chowder. It was very potato and bacony. Good overall flavor, however, my wife said there wasn't much clams. Which is fine by me. The beans were kind of like a chili bean with tomatoes in them. They also had a small kick which was nice. The fries rivaled the surface of our Sun in terms of temperature. There's no way they were just sitting under a heat lamp somewhere, that's for sure. After some time to cool and for the second degree burns to heal, they were tasty as well. Lastly, is the steak. Their menu says they cut all their meat on site and grind their own burger. It was a nice cut with some good marbling. The steak itself had good flavor but it needed a little more seasoning on it. Just lost a teeeeeeny little bit towards the middle of it. But some salt and pepper, and I managed. More importantly, I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. My wife's was as well. It was a good steak. Overall, I was thoroughly happy. Good food, reasonable price and supporting local. Nice to find something that isn't a chain. I would definitely go back.

I have only recently discovered this yummy gem. We made our first trip here in November or December. It certainly did not disappoint. Since our first trip we have been back three more times. Oddly enough we have had the same server each time. I can't remember her name but she is great. I have had the filet, baked potato and veggies every time! Always yummy. Except for the most recent visit. My steak was cooked rare (when I requested medium) and it was super tough. Our waitress had just gotten sat with a huge table of older people right when we got our food and got stuck taking their drink orders and getting their drinks. By the time another girl came by the rest of my food was gone so I wasn't interested in a new steak. I told the girl that. Shortly after our waitress came with many apologies and offered anything else I wanted for free. I declined but my husband suggested I get some peanut butter pie. Which I did! It is an amazing pie. I definitely recommend it. I wasn't charged for my meal or the pie. They handled the situation well. I will definitely be returning. Also any time I have gone their is no wait for a table. Which in my book is great. Most other steak places you are waiting for ever just to sit down. One other fun quirk about the place is that you drink from a glass cowboy boot! How fun is that!

Nice steakhouse. My T-bone steak was good, but really, a tad undercooked. Pretty rare. (I'd rather have more rare than overcooked, but this was a bit too rare in some spots than even I would eat.) Nice people and nice atmosphere though.

Quality of food over ride's Pinnacle Peak! I've never heard of this restaurant, my fiance's father heard about it on an AM radio station. The location is just about hidden on Fort Lowell. The entrance sign is simple and white. As you walk in the southwestern decor surrounds you, from wooden wheel spokes to cattle horns. Our waitress was awesome, she had recommendations for one's taste and was very genuine. I ordered the children's steak meal because I just can't eat that much food. Let me just say a children's steak meal WAS HUGE!!! The steak had to be an 8 oz thick cut! A side of baked beans and steak fries were included also. Before the meal you are served with homemade bread and real butter.... yes you read that right. HOMEMADE BREAD & BUTTER! mmmmmm it just melts in your mouth. Then you are served a salad with your meal, it's simple with crisp fresh iceberg lettuce. OH! I forgot to say they ask if you want your beer or soda served in a glass boot! No extra charge. HOW COOL IS THAT! I sure did drink my soda pop from the boot! As the meal arrived the steak was cooked perfectly, fries crispy, beans I passed because I'm not a bean girl. I saved room for the highly recommended dessert... the Peanut butter fudge pie. Holy smokes it was better than I imagined, when you hear fudge and peanut butter you think of layers for a pie. NOPE! This pie was whipped and the peanut butter and taste of fudge was mixed into this light fluffy cream and served on home made crust... again with the HOMEMADE! This crust was phenomenal! Light, fluffy, crisp and not burnt! The pie is rich in flavour but it sure is worth saving room for. I highly recommend going here for the food. Quality is what you get!

I have heard rumors that this place is quiet good for a long time so I finally got around to trying it out. In the end I think it is middle of the road, the was good, I have had better. It was a better steak then you would get at a big chain like applebees or outback. The atmosphere was western with animal hides on the wall and rustic decor. The beans we were but I'm not big on beans anyhow. Better then some, but not as good as others.

Great food at a good price. We were very surprised at the size of our steaks. Cooked just right and very juicy. The sides were good too. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. I liked that the country music wasn't blaring at you, but just nice background music. Our waitress was very friendly. We are definitely going back and recommending Cody's to others.

This place is all-right. Not great, not bad. Just OK. I had a barbecue (brisket?) sandwich. The bread was your plain ol' supermarket burger bun and the sauce was just meh. The sauce was heavily ketchup based and after a couple of bites, the sauce was cloyingly sweet. Throughout my meal, I kept thinking how awesome my sandwich would be if I could have Trader Joe's Kansas style barbecue sauce. I love that stuff! I also tried the ribs. These were actually really good. The sauce they came with was pretty much more of the same my sandwich had. The ribs themselves, however, made up for this. This is an okay place to visit when craving barbecue in the north side of town. I wouldn't go out of my way to get to it though.

I like Cody's...a lot! I had the Cody burger and it was very yummy for the price. Juicy, fairly thick and I loved my toasted bun. They have a really good T-bone special that my significant other had. I enjoyed all of the sides that I tasted, as well. Overall, I thought that the food was way better than a chain restaurant. I have real a few comments on the decor and honestly, I didn't notice anything wrong with it. It was minimalistic and definitely Western -- I'd expect that from the name of the restaurant! I went for the Beef AND the beans, not the hides on the wall. For dessert, we were recommended the choc-pb pie (by both our server and the people at the table next to us). I appreciate a nice homemade crust, but the pie itself was too much whipped topping for me and not enough chocolate and/or peanut butter. I would try one of their other yummy-sounding options next time. I would give five stars if it weren't for our server. She may have been new or just completely lame due to lack of personality, age and experience altogether. I was kind of bummed by that because this is a real "yeeehawwww" kind of place and while I appreciate the lack of line-dancing, it was Friday night and I still wanted a server with some kind of pep. She was a serious snooze fest. I would certainly go back to Cody's. They have a different special every night that they are open. (I think they're closed Sundays). I also want to try their Sarsaparilla.

We were visiting Tucson from Grand Junction, CO and wanted a steak dinner. It was my father-in-law's birthday and I knew he wanted prime rib. I checked the reviews around town and decided this was the place. Loved the western decor. It was far quieter than a Texas Roadhouse (we have one in Junction and like it a lot too). The service was great. Food was cooked to order. Not only a salad, but TWO sides came with the entree.Father in-law's prime rib was plenty red with a trace heart-beat like he likes it! Not over-seasoned. Brisket I had was good, but a bit dry. They had one of our favorite dinner wines, 14 Hands Cabernet. From four adults and two kids, two thumbs up!

Good portions, good service and good food. We went on a Saturday night and were seated right away. For an appetizer we had the fried zucchini which was hot and tasty. I had a T-bone steak and my wife had the Cody burger. Steak, veggies, potato, soup and fresh baked bread came my way and all of it was good. The burger came with coleslaw which was deemed just ok. However, the burger it self was one of the best burgers my has had. All in all we were happy customers and would return.

thank you SO much to these guys for having such a great steak house without the outrageous prices. the steaks and ribs were great! a 24 ounce t-bone for around $20?? really?? yep! really! they pride themselves on keeping their prices low, even in this economy (there is a heartfelt blurb on their menu). staff was super friendly and food came out quickly. if there is anything i would say should be changed for the better, it would be their bbq sauce and the bean recipe... the sauce needs to be more hearty and less ketchup-y, and the beans should be less mush... but the MEAT is delicious ;) highly recommend this little place :)

Stopped by for lunch not being sure what to expect... I was pleasantly surprised by solid service, decent, appropriately priced food on a standard steak place menu. No frills on the menu items, but there's no harm in not reinventing the wheel when simple, quality food will do! Our server was by herself and handled a busy-ish lunch with ease. She was friendly and took the time to explain the menu, answer questions, and our waters were full, full, full! Why 3 stars? Unfortunately, the downside of a dining room with a lot of knick knacks is that it's difficult to keep clean. It's a little unnerving, waiting for lunch and looking around and seeing dusty/dirty surfaces. My friend ordered a BBQ sandwich and the BBQ sauce tasted straight out of a jar and was strangely sweet. House-made BBQ sauce is an opportunity to really shine, but it was a total miss. Meat? Delicious and tender, sliced in house. Potato salad? Lacked a little salt and pepper, also didn't taste fresh. My "Codyburger" was a bit overcooked, but nothing horrific. Again, a little seasoning in the freshly ground beef would have made all the difference. I will be going back to try dinner, but won't be rushing back with so many options in the neighborhood.

Just as Yelped! Good food & good service. Everybody was right about the PB Fudge pie! Had a couple Shiner Bocks, but never was offered a boot glass. OTOH, each beer came with a fresh, frosty mug. We'll be back. I want to see if their steaks are as good as the baby back ribs.

In a world with "gucci" burgers and steakhouses, something was lost. That was good decently prices chunk of meat. This is where Cody's beef and beans pull away from the bullshit. They have t-bone that is the best deal in town. Well cooked as well. They also serve soda in cowboy boot shaped glasses. if that doesn't get you there... You just cant go wrong. Its nice a quiet, never a line. Also read the "raw" meat disclaimer while you wait for your food. Its the best.

The salad and beans were okay. The bread was awesome. Too bad my first porterhouse came out well done instead to medium rare. My second was on the raw side of rare with a very small amount of browning on one edge. I took the steak home so I could grill it. We had a large party and the room was just right for it.

I've lived in this neighborhood for months and finally decided to try this place after reading all the great reviews. I've been back every week since my fist visit and every time I am impressed with the food! The service is pretty good and always friendly. I'm craving some of those delicious onion rings right now!

9 family members had dinner at Codys and Beans last evening and were pleasantly surprised. Steaks were good, atmosphere pleasant and clean, service reasonably fast for a party of nine. Friendly, efficient service. Homemade bread so good and homemade salad dressing excellent. I would return here.

I heard some guys at the gym talking about Cody's. They said it had the best burger and best steak sandwich in town. So I decided to sabotage my workout and head over for dinner with a buddy of mine. I ordered the steak sandwich with baked beans and my friend got the swordfish with vegetables. You get a couple of pieces of plain white bread and butter brought to you, but it isn't very appetizing. Even though we were the only ones in there, it took just under 30 minuted to receive our food, which is a ridiculous wait time. Anyway, the steak sandwich looked fantastic. It was a thin cut served on a long toasted roll with lettuce and tomato. The taste was just okay, though. It really needed some seasoning, so I got a side of BBQ sauce, but it didn't really help. The small side of baked beans was lukewarm with small chunks of tomato mixed in, but again really bland. My friend said his swordfish was just okay. This place has been a no frills neighborhood joint forever, and it made it through the recession, so I guess I'm missing something about its appeal, but I won't return.

We came here last night and it was tasty. Of course we had spend a long day of Black Friday sales so we were famished. We said we would stop at the next place we saw so here it is. My kids loved the food I must say I was really jealous of their choices. My son had ribs with potato wedges, and beans. My daughter had a bbq beef sandwhich that couldn't even fit in her mouth. For my fiance he had the steak sandwich which was the size of half the plate. My kids had sarsaparilla in a boot mug. We are from the midwest and enjoyed our meals thoroughly. My mother in law will be here around Christmas and we will definitely be back! I recommend it for a nice steak dinner--it is tasty! Now the interior decorations....hmmm just have to get past that.

You won't go wrong ordering a steak at this joint. The ambiance is really nice; very distinctive and homey. The salad is always fresh, the steaks most often perfectly cooked. Come on Friday or Saturday afternoon for the 16 oz. T-bone special. The ribeye is great and has a great scald and seasoning. The service is good. All of the waitresses are attentive and welcoming. The only slight downside is that some days, you will encounter a difference in the food quality. It sort of fluctuates from middle of the road to excellent. I think this is dependent on the cooks they have. Any way you look at it, you still get decent fare and down-to-earth service. The beans are really tasty. Don't go without trying them! Really interesting flavors and good on the palate. The beer is also a must. They have beer on tap and a boot mug of beer is quite reasonable. All around, I would recommend this place to meat and potatoes people.

Just average. My wife and I were one of two occupied tables on the night we visited. The food was OK but nothing special. The prices were along the lines of Lil' Abners and Daisy Maes which ARE good steak houses. The staff seem pretty uninterested as a whole. Service was slow even though there was only one other table besides ours. I had expected better for the price paid.

There's something incredibly charming about a place that drowns itself in old Western decor, serves almost all of its beverages in glass boots, and takes every opportunity available to sneak in insults towards Ralph Nader and the Green Party. Their Codyburger is probably the best value you could ever hope for in a burger of this quality. It's a prime example of a simple product that's been executed perfectly. The beef is seasoned just right; the bun is toasted ever so slightly; the vegetables are all fresh and crisp. Beautiful, tasty simplicity. Throw in a heaping pile of fries (they really give you a lot!), and you've just spent the best $7.00 (plus tip!) you'll probably spend in a long time. Their steaks range from $9.99 to ~$20, and they're all very good (especially the ribeye), but Wednesday nights they have a New York strip special for an incredible $9.99. That's one 12 oz strip (which is, once again, seasoned perfectly), two sides, bread, and your choice of soup or salad -- all for $9.99. How they manage to stay open with deals like this is beyond me, but it seems as though Wednesday nights are pretty popular, so it must be working. Service can be hit or miss, depending on who's serving. My friends and I discovered it during the glory days, when an exceptionally good server named Tawna was working there. At least 5x as charming as the decor and at least 10x as good as any server in Tucson, she didn't even need to ask me what I wanted. It was the first time I'd ever experienced that kind of restaurant -- the kind where a regular could simply say, "I'll have the usual," and the restaurant would know exactly what that meant. She doesn't work there anymore, and unfortunately I haven't been there since May, but the rest of the staff is also very friendly, and so I can't imagine having a bad experience here.

One of the best burgers in town!

This place is like Pinnacle Peak Lite, the biggest difference being this place actually serves REALLY good food. Sure there is no Trail Dust Town, staged gun fights, or cutting off of ties, but isn't that a good thing? They do the old Western decor, and I think they do it well. This is easily my favorite place in Tucson to come for a steak for two reasons. The first obviously being the quality of the food and the second being the value. You seriously can NOT beat this places dinner specials. On Tuesday you can get TWO giant pork chops, Wednesday a large new york strip, and Thursday an 8 ounce prime rib. All of these come with bread, soup or salad, and your choice of two sides! All of these meals cost $10.95! That is utter ridiculous-ness in my books. And just to throw this out there, on Friday and Saturday they do 16 ounce T-Bones for 13.95. They're closed Sunday, and I personally don't like Monday's special, bbq boneless beef ribs. The REAL ribs are delicious though! You really have to try their soup too! I've eaten here probably 20 times and I don't think I've seen the same soup more than twice. The exception being every Friday is clam chowder. If you get the side salad expect for the normal steakhouse abuse of salads. Compared to Lil' Abners though it is wonderful! At least they put veggies on their iceberg lettuce! I personally have never order the salad entrees, (I love meat) but I had a friend do it once and it looked quite delicious. Their burger is also one of the best in Tucson. Given the choice between this and Zinburger (my other favorite burger place) I'd probably pick Cody's 9 out of 10 times. I always get mine with pepper jack and bacon. The grand total of a burger topped my way comes out to just under 9 bucks. Keep in mind that comes WITH one side. Quite a good deal if you ask me! The way drinks are served should put a smile on your face. Almost everything is served in a boot-shaped glass. The only exception being the iced-tea and that comes with a full pitcher and an extra glass of ice. I also used to come when the best waitress in the world worked here, and she would even put my tea in a boot. Little things like that made my day. Overall, I think I've only had bad service once, and it was the girl's first day so I tried to cut her some slack (and she was replacing the best server of all time.) If you love steak and you haven't been here, do yourself a favor and come in for one of their specials. It blows places like Silver Saddle out of the water! Definitely on my short list of favorite restaurants in Tucson!

Not a bad BBQ joint. We went in the late afternoon, before the dinner rush. I got the half slab of ribs and boy was it good. Amazing seasoning and they just about fell off the bone. I had the baked beans which tasted like chili, not my style. I also had the veggies on the aide which were good. Overall the place was good, just nothing great. I feel like the atmosphere does have an effect on your overall opinion of a place. It had a nice western style but was just lacking. Oh but you should get the root beer in a boot cup. That was kinda great.

I have been visiting this place off and on for 20 years, mostly for dinners. It has always had a simple modest retro steakhouse feel. If you like these places in general, and enjoy straight forward beef, potato, and salad dinners, then you wil enjoy Cody's. The food is quite good and consistent and is a really great value. The wait staff is always friendly and eager to please. The boot of beer rocks. (works with root beer, too). Definitely family friendly.

This place has been a Tucson gem for over 25 years. The wait staff is very friendly and the service was great. My friend ordered an ice tea and the waitress brought an entire pitcher and an extra glass full of ice...now that is someone who knows what customers want. As for the food I had the famous Cody Burger and beans (I figured I had to hence the name of the place). I was very happy with my burger because it was only $6.50 and was on a nice fresh role. I could tell the meat was ground fresh and had a really nice seasoning. However, I was a little disappointment with the beans. I was expecting something great since the restaurant has the title in its name. They were average but I have to warn that I am a fan of barbecue baked beans and I think that is what I expected. We also got a brownie for dessert, which was just okay (something you could probably make yourself ) but it was big and only $4. Other than that, everything is very reasonably priced and the service is great. You cannot get a better deal on a good burger than this place.
