Yummy! Popped in with the boys after hitting Goodwill on 4th. I opted for an iced Mocha and an Almond Cherry Scone. The kids had ice cream and cookies. I don't usually like scones, as they tend to be dry, this was the best scone I have ever had. It was moist and flavorful. The coffee was also very good.

We love this place! They have fabulous coffee and smoothies and their candy selection is oh-so-good. You can find many kinds of retro candy here that is hard to find, like Abba Zabba bars, candy cigarettes, taffy and candy dots. The chocolate and baked goods are scrumptious and they even have, yes, chocolate iguanas. I highly recommend the maple, walnut scone! Mmmmmmm mmm. They also carry a few gift items that are reasonably priced. I might have to return for a cute lunchbox someday.

Location: it is a small store at the heart of downtown. There is inside seating and a patio area. I do wish that the tables were a bit cleaner. Restroom is around the corner of the store and staff will provide you with a key if needed. Service: Staffs were super friendly. Their service is definitely a 5 star rating. Food: I ordered their signature drink "chocolate iguana shake" and it was decent. The mint chocolate ice cream is delicious. However, I am not too sure if it goes well with the coffee. Even thought the ice-cream is cold, the coffee drink was a bit warm at the bottom. When those two goes together, it does taste a bit weird. It doesn't taste bad...but it does tastes weird. Rating: They do have very great selections of muffins, cookies and coffee drinks. I'll definitely stop by to try something else next time I go to Tuson.

Had the signature chocolate iguana dessert ($4.50). It was a large portion of double mocha with generous scoops of mint ice cream in the center. It was topped with chocolate drizzled whipped cream with a thin chocolate stick (AKA iguana tail) on top. Quite a lot going on in this dessert! While I enjoyed each separate component, I'm not sure I totally liked the entire dessert as a whole. I do appreciate the creativity though! Service was fast and friendly. The store itself is very cute and has a picturesque little patio area.

This is the yummiest place for a sweet tooth! From cute little trinkets to any candy/chocolate you want, they have it! We gor chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered espresso beans, and chocolate covered almonds. Yum! They also offer danishes, muffins, sandwiches, coffee, etc.

This place is THE stop for homemade candies in Tucson. You rally must stop here to round out any gift basket or when introducing guests to Tucson novelties. Their drinks are sometimes marvelous and sometimes lackluster; I don't know why. Other cute little sweet shops really need to take note of how to decorate. Chocolate Iguana has it down.

What is not to love? We have ice cream, we have candy, we have chocolate, we have coffee, we have ice-cream-chocolate-cofee shakes. The space is tiny but charming and quirky, the outdoor patio is prime for people watching, and the vibe is divine. I only wish my visits weren't limited to my annual visits home.

Can someone please mail me a cafe mocha shake? I've been craving one pretty bad this week, but maybe not quite bad enough to drive 800 miles. So my niece and I had come in here late one night after dinner, and we were super tired from taking care of a relative in the hospital, and we basically just stared at the clerks and waited for them to tell us what we wanted. I realize of course that restaurant clerks are not required to possess ESP skills, but these ladies did. So we got a cafe mocha shake, and I am totally stealing that name from another review-- I think it was called something else. It was like the equivalent of a mocha freeze from Costco, except that it was actually good. It was a blend of Blue Bell chocolate ice cream and Illy coffee. This is all special to me because Blue Bell is not sold in California, and Illy is like, top shelf at Target. They don't sell it at Wal-Mart, so it's at least classier than trashy. Anyways. I think there were also chocolate chips and whipped cream involved. This drink was so amazing that when my niece and I failed to finish it, rather than throw the last three inches away, I let them ride in the car with me for 45 minutes so my sister could try it. It was really that good. My sister was thoroughly disgusted with the fact that I brought her an old used shake. I guess I didn't really think that one through. Still, it was good when I took it out of the freezer the next morning. Yeah, it was really THAT good. A few days later, my sister and I came back to split the same thing, and the girls were really sweet and split it into two separate cups for us, and put whipped cream on both. I just thought that was pretty cool because most places will just hand you an extra cup accompanied by a dirty look. My mom is sort of a lemon bar snob, so I brought her a lemon bar to have for breakfast the next day, and she told me it was just okay-- but then she also asked me where I got it. I'm not sure whether it was really just okay, or whether she was just trying to impress upon me that I would never quite be on her level when it comes to lemon bars. (I actually had a bite and thought it was fantastic.) On top of the coffee drinks and pastries and ice cream, this place sells tons of cute little decorations, lunch pails, coffee mugs, etc. The inside is painted all kinds of funky colors, and the orientation of the windows happened to provide a perfect backdrop for some Instagram shenanigans. This is generally just a fun place to be. I'd come back for sure if I lived nearby.

This was a very cool location for a coffee shop that we stopped by while visiting downtown Tucson! There were lots of funny and cute items displayed in their store like a periodic table of desserts. I ended up getting their Chocolate Iguana signature drink, which came with mocha, whipped cream, and mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was incredible, I would definitely come here again.

I didn't have much to base this on because I only tried a handful of truffles, which were sinfully delicious, and some chocolate coconut mixture. Whatever the second thing was, I'd like a swimming pool of. My reason for 5 stars is customer service. I walked in right at closing and instead of the gals making a huge fuss over things, everyone received their ice cream and desserts as if it was no big deal. Sadly this doesn't always happen at most establishments, so keep up the great work!

I love this place and whenever I visit my boys at UofA the trip always requires a trip to Chocolate Iguana!! The coffee's, the candies the place is a gem!

I stopped by last night with my boyfriend to get something for dessert. The place is nice, it reminded me of the crack seed stores we have in Hawaii. The walls are lined with various treats, and they have pastries, ice cream, and drinks. So, after careful consideration, I finally asked for a slice of vanilla cake. I asked if they bake their own pastries. They don't, but they get it from a local bakery. The young woman who handed it to me exclaimed to her coworker, "Doesn't this cake look magical?!" Her coworker then said, "If you like frosting." My ears kind of perked up at that, but what could you say to that? I just took my cake, said thank you and left.

Family owned and a total classic- not to be missed! The candy selection is a serious throwback to childhood-this alone is worth a visit! But the quaint patio with a view to 4th ave is perfect for enjoying a light bite and a coffee. Head there and see the cuteness for yourself. It's a friendly place with allot of goodies to enjoy!

Love stopping by here whenever the kids and I are cruising down 4th Ave. The gals behind the counter are always super friendly! They've got a huge selection of candies...old school, hard to find candies, and yummy baked goods to boot! They even have some cute little knick-knacks and novelty items for gifts or just plain fun stuff to look at. My kids love the ice cream (and candy, of course), and my personal fave is the Mango smoothie! Cute little shop to just hang out and enjoy a coffee or dessert at!

Another gem along 4th avenue. We stopped in late afternoon for some drinks and got seduced by the ridiculous looking pastries on display. How can anyone say no to an espresso chocolate chip scone? You don't do stuff like that. You just don't. You always say yes, like when someone asks you if you want another beer. The scone was a sweet bomb, but delicious, and our drinks, a mocha concoction for my wife and an iced chai for me, hit the spot. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area where you can people watch and feel oh so bohemian. I noticed a great amount of chocolate and candy for sale and pretty much had to close my eyes and blindly escort myself outside to avoid dropping a fortune on goodies, so beware, the temptation is strong here.

For some reason I've always walked past this place without going in, but last night after a date diner we stopped in for desert. It's adorable! I'd usually go to one of the cafes on 4th for desert, but they are better for studying and Chocolate Iguana is nicer for romantic coffee and desert. Not even necessarily romantic, I'm totally going to bring my mom here next time she visits. We split an eclair and had some coffee and tea. Very nice.

They have some of the best coffee and food there. I will say, the candy is a little overpriced, but it's great when you need to give someone a present. I go almost every morning before I start school, during the school year. The ladies who work when I go are so welcoming and so helpful. They explained the difference of sorbet and sherbet, because I honestly didn't know the difference. The coffee bar is one of the best coffee deals I have found at almost any downtown cafe. The place is decorated in an adorable way. It feels comforting and it feels like a place I could accidentally spend the day at by accident. They have a great patio that is comfortable and you can observe Downtown Tucson life at it's finest.

Still serving the best coffee and treats in the downtown/4th avenue area, so glad this place is still around! Super friendly staff, great candy selection, ice cream & drinks. Thanks, Chocolate Iguana!!!

Come in here often with my 2 little girls. The service is consistent, and for the most part the staff is pleasant. They do have one young girl working there who has an odd arrogant attitude but everyone else is nice. The food is great and the candy selection is awesome. It's a very comfortable atmosphere, plus they offer free ice water. I really enjoy coming here and I can tell they really love their repeat customers. It's an impressive family-owned ice cream place considering they compete directly with a DQ across the street.

I love that I can get a good Coffee or salad to fit my Dietary Needs, and it's just down the street where I work from GreenToes! I'm looking forward to taking my almost 6 year old Daughter here to treat her for her 6th Birthday at the end of the month. The only thing is that we can't have any of the pastry. =( We're with Celiac Disease so it's hard to be able to enjoy candies when there could be gluten in it. I have to ask for the ingredient list. Coffee, ice cream and fudge are a go though. Yay!

Everything in here is delicious. The food is surprisingly awesome, the drinks can sometimes dip in quality depending on the person who's working, but it's usually a great place for your coffee fix. The honeycomb chocolates are amazing, keep a look out for those!

This review is for the lunch menu only, not the candy store. I stopped in here with my dad and sister for a quick lunch after exploring 4th street. This place is tiny inside, but in an adorable way. It felt really crowded with just the three of us and one other customer. I opted for a half a turkey-pesto sandwich with a cup of the tomato florentine soup, which the woman behind the counter recommended. The sandwich was delicious and was generously spread with pesto, but the soup was very underwhelming. It tasted like it had come straight from a can. My dad tried the ham and cheese croissant, and found it "perfectly edible" - not the most ringing endorsement. I'd try this place again for the candy, but I'll pass on the soup next time.

Best homemade scones I've ever had! The chocolate chip sour cream muffins are to die for! You absolutely must try. Italian sodas are delicious. And their candies and goodies are always fun to look at. Can't go wrong with sweets from the chocolate iguana

  • Christina M.

Disappointed. After the great reviews we tried their croissant and chocolate milkshake, the croissant was rather limp, and had very little good, buttery flavor, and their chocolate milkshake was bland and watery. For a good croissant stick with Ajs bakery, sad to say.

I do believe Chocolate Iguana earns the distinction for the 100th review! I went through all of my bookmarks and this one by far wins the award! I cannot believe I've waited oh.....too long to try this place out. I pass it all of the time. Perhaps its just the inconvenience of trying to find parking just to get some java. But I do believe I won't be worrying so much about the parking next time, rather awaiting the excellent coffee as well as the bag of chocolates to take home and chow on. This place is absolutely stupendous! I am so so in love with everything about Chocolate Iguana, and I agree with Corey D. ...suck it Russel Stover!! I went to get coffee but ended up coming home with about $15 worth of candy and chocolate to "share" with the family. Candy Lego's for the boy. Chocolate covered peanut butter balls for the girl, chocolate, caramel, pecan clusters for me. Dark chocolate espresso beans for me. And a few more things for....well you guessed it. Me. To share with the hubs of course. Their gift shop is amazing as well. Adorable things you can't really find elsewhere. 50's memorabilia, Illy's Coffee stuff. You gotta love it! I cannot wait till the weather cools and I can go sit on the corner of 4th and 6th enjoying my chocolate...I mean my coffee....and doing some serious people watching while trying to figure out what is new on the wall mural across the street. Well done Chocolate Iguana!!!

This is the place in Tucson for candy! They have classics from my childhood that I thought were long gone, like candy cigarettes. The chocolate covered almonds, pretzels and English toffee are indescribably delicious and decadent. My daughters love all of the novelty candies like candy buttons, candy crystals, necklaces and old fashioned suckers. Another fave are edible, stackable Legos. My oldest commented on our last trip, " We're literally kids in a candy store! ". The employees are always friendly and helpful. They even put a bag of ice in the bag to keep the chocolate from melting. Great local treasure for kids of all ages.

I LOVE YELP'S SUGAR HIGH! I mean I organized it, so it rocks, but I love it because I experienced things today at Chocolate Iguana I wouldn't ordinarily purchase because your back is to them when you're checking out at the register. 1. Chocolate/caramel/pecan clusters! SUCK IT RUSSELL STOVER! These things are amazing! Rich and chewy but not too sweet, I didn't feel bad eating a bag of 5. 2. Chocolate macadamia nut caramel chews. WHAT? These things are like crack, and I had to seal the bag up before I polished them off. These combined with my favorite scone in town right now, in addition to Marci, the really cool owner, and her daughters who help run the place, and I gotta say, CI is firing on all cylinders. Big fan guys! Know Before You Go: Sweets are 50% through May 15, 2011. After that, go there anyway, these are too good to pass up!

4th Avenue is rapidly becoming one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat. It's right up there with South Tucson's wonderful Mexican fare. Here on 4th we have the B-Line, Epic Cafe, Brooklyn Pizza, Bison Witches and now the Chocolate Iguana. Today I tried to get into Lindy's but it was way full of lunching customers so I trekked on up to the Chocolate Iguana. And oh, my what a delightful discovery that was! Their tuna sandwich just nudged Choice Greens out of first place. What a tasty, delicious sandwich with bean sprouts, oregano, and almonds added. Their black bean salad came covered in tortilla chips and was ultra fresh and loaded with veggies and a very tasty salad dressing. I had one of their frosted sugar cookies for dessert and it was the shortbread style but very good. Their pastry offerings were amazing. This will be such a delightful place to eat outside on the corner when the weather cools down. I'm really glad Lindy's was packed today!

Very fun and unique place. We got some truffles and coffee. My only complaint is the space. Being a big guy, I was bumped into repeatedly and almost knocked over a rack full of chocolate.

Best croissant I've had in town since the frog bakery closed. It is so buttery and fluffy that it's worth the journey to get it. The staff were ok except for the last tine we went during the street fair... she probably had a bad day. It wouldn't deter me from going back for more of their delicious croissants though.

This place is wonderful! I stopped by after seeing all the great reviews, and was just blown away. I can't believe I've never been here before! I know this a great place for dessert and sweets -- they had lovely minicakes, ice cream, candies -- but I was looking for lunch. And I was not disappointed. I ordered a healthy albacore tuna sandwich. It's made with light mayo, almond slices (adds a nice crunch!), celery (always goes great with tuna), tomato, and sprouts. To my pleasant surprise, the sandwich was also served with regular, blue, and red corn tortilla chips and a nice, chocolate mint -- all for a little over $5. Everything was delicious and the ladies who worked there were both extraordinarily nice. In addition, the place is simply way cute. Purple and green are the colour scheme here for not just the paint on the walls and borders, but also for lanterns, doilies (I think that's what they were anyways), and other decorations. When you first walk in, the front room is lined with cool knick-knacks and coffee mugs for sale. You then proceed through the doorway to your right and there's the counter lined with lots of their candies and goodies. The back wall is full of their sweets. It's a really sweet place (pun) so make sure to check it out.

Chocolate Iguana is such a fun place to go. To be honest 4th Avenue has always kind of freaked me out with all of the hippies and liberals everywhere but when my sister and I went there last year to get a drink and to do some bible study I was pleasantly surprised with this place. They have homemade sweets, tons of candy to chose from, coffee, pop, Italian soda, soup and tons more. It's a great little place to hangout or people watch. I always enjoying going.

I visited this shop on a Saturday afternoon with friends. I was amazed at all the candy and chocolate treats that they had. They've got everything from chocolate toffee to chocolate covered gummi bears. I didn't purchase anything for myself but my husband bought Mint M&M's ($1). He loved them. My friends bought a carrot cake, it was huge and reasonably priced. They loved it and raved about how moist it was. This is a nice little shop. There is no public restroom. The customer service could have been a little better. We felt like we were bothering them.

Talk about "Mom and Pop" shops... this one should take the grand prize. Situated on the corner of the infamous 4th Avenue (which isnt looking that pretty since they re-constructing the roads for a future train) Chocolate Iguana has been a go-to spot for many fellow Tucson residents. As soon as you walk in, there are antique and collectible items such as poster, cards, tea and coffee cups, etc. Then through the arch of another door, you are greeted by lovely barista ladies who have been working there for years. They have organic coffee and 4-5 other fresh brews daily. Amazing menu of specialty teas, lattes and their specialty scones and brownies that sit at the counter while you pay are so freakin bomb looking! A.K.A. they look amazing and unfortunately I am gluten free so my cousin got to try them. She'll be back for more she said! Their salads and sandwhiches look so fresh as well. Then there's that whole backside of CANDY against the wall. I literally spent like 7-8 minutes looking at them all and reading each detail about the creations. Some of this candy is so pretty and colorful, definitely a great gift idea.

Very cute ice cream/dessert/chocolate shop in down town Tucson. We had only 15 minutes before closing time when we found the place. Nice selection of easy to grab chocolate chocolates to grab. Easy to pick ice cream options. Wonderful selection of cakes/pastries. Small cramped space, but the smells, customer service, and warm atmosphere more than makes up for it. Will visit again when I am next down town and visiting in Tucson.

Cute, kitschy shop on 4th. The barista when I stopped by knew how to make a really really superb latte. It was perfect; just wish it was more accessible without dealing with all of the icky traffic and crappy parking; or if it was open just a bit earlier so I could swing by and pick up some coffee before I head to work (they open at 7am). I had an espresso chip scone while I was there; it is definitely complementary to a good cuppa joe, BUT on its own, it was a bit lackluster. I had a few clumps where I could really taste the espresso icing, but didn't get the full effect the entire time. The scone was incredibly moist and... I would probably get it again. hah. possibly my fave coffee shop in tucson so far... with bonus points for not being a hipster magnet!

I stopped into the Chocolate Iguana with my mom on Black Friday, as we were headed to Brooklyn Pizza to pick up dinner. It's a quaint little shop with cute little knickknacks and lots of candy for sale in addition to the caffeinated drinks and pastries. There was limited seating inside and more tables outside... I had the snow (or white) mocha, which was a seasonal selection. My mom had a mocha frozen explosion. The employee that took our order was friendly enough, and made our drinks fairly quickly. I thought my drink was fine, nothing exceptional... My mom did not care for her's and ended up throwing most of it away. She said it tasted burnt... Next item I am down on 4th I will probably stop back in but I wouldn't make a special trip to go to Chocolate Iguana.

I swung in here after having my hangover breakfast at another establishment. I knew it was going to be one if those hangovers that required food throughout the day and I heard amazing things about the goodies here. Well, it lived up to the hype. I got a coffeecake muffin and a 1/4lb bag of chocolate peanut butter caramel balls. Yes you heard me correctly. Chocolate. Peanut Butter. Caramel. Balls. ;p Amazing!!! It got me through a rough day after :). And the staff was so super nice. I can't wait to go back and try more.

Illy coffee is the start of the reasons to have a drink here. Excellent atmosphere and the staff have always been very friendly. Nice pastry selection...including apple cider scones! It is now a must visit place for me when I am in Tucson.

I come here for coffee occasionally... Specifically for their espresso, which is Illy (an Italian espresso that isn't very common in Tucson). It's $2.35 for a double espresso, which is very reasonable considering it comes on a cute little tray, with a glass of ice water on the side, and a delicious little chocolate candy to cleanse your palate of coffee flavor. Clever, since they sell a lot of candies here. Surprisingly I haven't been tempted by the candies (YET)! I love coming here for a quick caffe' al paso (coffee on the go)... Spending a few minutes in this cafe' it is apparent to me that it is locally owned. The owner (and I believe her daughter are both there- running it). They both have a great attitude, and this is the kind of business that I feel I am routing for- that they will survive. The daughter told me they've been in business for over 20 years, and she started working there when she was 14. Goes to show that if you take care of your customers, the business will take care of you! They also serve other drinks (including teas, chai, OJ, lemonade, regular sodas, and Italian sodas), pastries (homemade frosted scones that look AMAZING!) plus a wide variety of affordable sandwiches that average about $6. They also have soups, salads, and ice cream. I'm not usually in this area for lunch, but will make a special trip one day soon. To leave you with a sweet note, their signature drink is a double cafe' mocha with a scoop of mint chocolate ice cream, topped with whipped cream and swirled with chocolate syrup- finished with an EDIBLE iguana tail! Now that's a reason to come to 4th Avenue, if I've ever heard one!

I am a little disappointed in the chocolate Iguana. We have never had a problem there up until now. One of the morning employees was really rude. She kept complaining about how terrible people are, and how she would love to move away from them. (She didn't mind saying this to our face while making our drinks.) To our surprise, we were served watery cocoa and sour cider. This was not what we had in mind so the drinks ended up in the trash. Sad. We still love their candy selection but I don't think much of their morning staff or the hot cider. I hope their root beer floats are still good.

This place is a little shop dominating a corner of 4th, although it really isn't asserint itself-from the outside it looks unassuming. Once you get inside, the entire place is simply stuffed with sweets of all kinds. I was in a bit of a rush, so I only got a Caffe Mocha. It was delicious-much better than Starbucks. Whatever coffee and method they used, they definitely did it right. However, everything was rather expensive, so it will have to be a while before I come back.

My future husband (I hate the word fiance) and I met our wedding photographer at the Chocolate Iguana. I had never been before, but suggested it due to the positive Yelp reviews (thanks guys!). We sat outside at a quaint rod-iron table. The weather was a-mazing that day. We ordered their mocha frap drinks and got to talking. Before we knew it, an hour and a half had passed, we had been able to have a great conversation with our photographer, and had indulged in a delicious coffee drink. What more could I ask for? Their candy and baked goods selection was impressive, but I refrained. Maybe next time!

My Dearest Chocolate Iguana, I waaant to looove youuu. I really do. You are so cute. You have a nice location. I love your gift shop. Your artwork makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Your colors make me happy, even if they sort of remind me of Barney. And people love you--they flock to you. Groups of youngsters migrate to your outdoor tables. Oldies come solo to enjoy your drinks in the early morn. Heartthrobs hold hands and kiss across your twosie tables. This is all fine and good, but like I said before, I want to really love you... so you're gonna have to step it up. I'm sure your candies are delightful, but I met you at 7am and that was just too early for candies. I was really after your morning treats. Most of your bakery looked a bit worn, so I went for your very attractive Carrot Cake. Perhaps you don't want to waste your old bakery goods, and that's nice I guess, but your Carrot Cake seemed old and left me not entirely satisfied. And my love, your Café Latte wasn't quite right. Don't get me wrong, you make a decent Café Latte, but the espresso was off. Were the beans freshly ground? Did you tamp with enough force? Making a good espresso is an art, and you are quite artsy, so I have faith you can make the perfect espresso. Chocolate Iguana, I want to love you so badly that I will give you another chance. I'll give you several chances because I think you will blow me away with your sweet candies and signature drink. You were so nice and cheerful--not to mention I'm oh so attracted to your je ne sais quoi. That's why I'm rounding you up to a four. Can't wait to see you again when I'm in need of a pick-me-up, or when my sweet tooth strikes. Till then, my darling.

I was having a long day waiting in the urgent care waiting room for hours when I came in yelp to look for a nearby cafe where I could get a snack and relax. I found the Chocolate Iguana and decided to go based on the reviews. I couldn't have had a better experience! For a little over $5 I ordered the garden salad and a cold lemonade. The ladies working were so nice and the atmosphere was fun and feminine. The salad I ordered was a BIG portion for the price, it was actually enough to fill me up! When I asked for oil and vinegar for dressing the lady working offered me some rosemary and chili vinegar homemade by her friend. It was an awesomely delicious addition to the big, yummy, FRESH salad. Thanks, Chocolate Iguana, for cheering me up :)

This is my favorite place on 4th ave. The coffee is to die for, especially with some of their vanilla infused sugar added to it. They also happen to be the home of my favorite sandwich in Tucson. The Turkey Pesto is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere inside is super cute. Sitting at a small table, gazing out the window, I can squint my eyes a bit and almost imagine that I'm sitting in a small sidewalk cafe in Paris. The staff are alway very friendly and the service is quick. I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for my coffee and no more than 5 minutes for my sandwich. So in summary, they have: 1. AMAZING coffee 2. DELICIOUS food 3. CUTE atmosphere 4. NICE staff 5. QUICK service

I'll be honest: I've never had the food here. I only go for the coffee and the wall of candy. Because honestly? If I walk in somewhere and see a wall of candy, I'm instantly sold. I always get a bag of chocolate covered gummy bears and try to mix it up with something else. They have several different kinds of candies and even more eclectic candies or older candies that people might not necessarily know. There are plenty of goodies to nibble on besides candy. I've had their eclairs which are AMAZING and are wonderful. Their coffee is delicious, although my favorite drink to order from there is a Chai Tea Latte. There's kitschy little knick knacks for sale in the front of the store that are always fun to look at. Overall, this is a must see visit for 4th Ave.

Stopped in here for coffee and a sweet treat to make the drive back to Phoenix. We had great service from the barista, even though she was busy managing a lot of customers. Enjoyed looking around the shop, especially the great selection of candies and baked goods. A couple of customers had amazing looking salads in huge bowls, looked like great portions. We couldn't decide between carrot or chocolate cake, so the barista recommended the "do da" bar to us as a compromise. WOW. Layers of chocolate, butterscotch, coconut with a graham cracker crust. I'm still working on trying to recreate it at home. It is a little crowded inside, but there is additional seating out on the patio.

Chocolate - Check Reasonably priced espresso drinks - Check Comfortable seating to hang out, whether my company is five years old or of the grown-up sort - Check Sandwiches on croissants and baguettes - Check Fun knick-knacks and lunch boxes and all kinds of crap I would love to fill my house with - Check There are fun little benches and nooks to hide out in the area between Athens, this place, and Bumstead's. It's a nice, peaceful place to sip a cup of coffee with a book at lunch. Easy bike ride from my house and on my way to work. Somehow I managed to spend a lot of time saying "...next time, I'll stop by and check out that place" and only a month after finally giving in, Yelp things I'm a regular. Yikes.

This place is good, definitely wasn't sure what i was getting myself into when i went there. I thought it was coffee and upon walking in...i was like oh...its a feminist toy shop??? no no but it does have some awesome toys in the first room...as you explorer deeper (or follow your nose) you find the cafe/candy room. The candy room is no mall candy store but it definitly holds its own. If you are looking for a candybar from childhood go here, this place was definitely filled with nostalgic memories of feeding my face with sweets. Their latte's are good (better than starbucks if you are wondering)...im still not big on coffee myself but i know my way around. ( i work at a cafe). ANYWAYS!!! i would say..if you are around why not?? unless you dont like coffee/tea/espresso or candy. good dealio!!! im craving candy now... -_-

If you want a good hot chocolate drink in town, come here. It's been a while since I had a good old fashioned hot chocolate drink ... since Coffee Etc. ( shutdown few years back ).

Okay Chocolate Iguana, I have a bone to pick with you. This past weekend my daughter, her best friend(14 year olds) and my son went to Tucson Meet Yourself. Afterwards we decided to walk around 4th Avenue and kill some time. I couldn't help but notice a young couple walking down the street carrying a kitten. Seriously, I think they were only 18-19 year olds. I watched them go up to people asking them for money. I offered to buy them food, I am jot one for handing out money but I am one to buy you a meal. Right across the street was Chocolate Iguana. I told my daughter and her friend to go run over there and grab two sandwiches and a glass of milk for the kitten. My son and I sat with the couple and waited for my them to get some food. So my daughter left with cash in her hand to go grab sandwiches. My son and I sat for 15 minutes finally I called my daughter expecting to hear that they must be slammed. She said the food was almost ready. Just for a side note this places makes sandwiches so I made an assumption it wouldn't take too long. After that phone call we continued to sit with this couple for 20 minutes. My daughter finally came so all together 35 minutes mind you she came with a vegetarian sandwich, a turkey sandwich, and a glass of milk with ice in it. The sandwiches came with chips and all together was around $15. Not too bad I thought. The couple thanked us and we were on our way. As soon as we were out of ear shot my daughter looked at me and said, Mom I am really upset right now. I looked at her and thought we were about to have a teenage crisis. So I asked her what was going on? She looked at me and said the girl working in Chocolate Iguana wasn't very polite to her. I started brushing it off and then both her and her friend explained to me the situation. My daughter walked in and waited to order. The girl working was talking to a guy and my daughter and her friend both confirmed they stood there for a few minutes. The lady looked over and asked what they needed. Not how may I help you or what brings you in, but what do you need. Already as a mom I am starting to get worked up. What can I say I am definitely overbearing. So she ordered the sandwiches and then they waited. While the whole time the lady spoke to the other customer in there not acknowledging my daughter again. She then hands the two sandwiches to my daughter and then said oh your milk. Filled up the cup with ice and then filled it up with ice. Strange. My daughter and her friend felt uncomfortable in there and felt like they shouldn't be in there unless they were adults. At first when I listened to my daughter's story I assumed she was exaggerating. I decided to go in and order a drink. When I went in the gal was talking with a guy looked at me and said nothing. I just looked around waiting for her to ask if I needed help and nothing. Absolutely nothing it was the strangest experience I have ever had. I then decide I should make a phone call and see if I could talk to a manager or owner. This happened Sunday afternoon and I still haven't heard back. It's Tuesday now. Here is the deal my daughter was a paying customer all I am asking for is quality customer service. Is that seriously too much to ask? Unfortunately the food and beverages may be great but we definitely will not be back from the service we received.

My best-friend and I left the spouses behind at the vacation rental and spent an afternoon exploring Tucson on our own. We had some great coffee (latte for her, iced Americano for me) here and split a cream cheese covered carrot cake. It was really good! The hubby's devoured the candy we brought back. We'll be back on our next visit to Tuscon!

Went here many, many times for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks in high school and reviewing this in retrospect, I have to say I've found many better coffee and food shops around town with more bang for your buck, better service, and better food. Sure, many of the items were quite tasty (looking at you turkey pesto sandwich), but it was never very much for what I paid for it both quantity and quality wise. Quick prep was also often a problem and the staff often had to be reminded about orders, even when they weren't especially swamped. The restroom is fairly atrocious, many an incident occurred to people I knew. To their credit, the shop was always well kept, clean, and cute - no complaints there at all. Overall not terrible, but there are many ways this shop can be improved and many great alternatives, hence the two star review.

Cute place. Friendly employees...who seem to enjoy their work. A little bit of everything in one place. Pastries, baked goods, quirky and eccentric gifts, lots of chocolate, candy from yesteryear, ice cream and a wide variety of tasty coffees and teas. Charming, quirky, fun, and laid back. I will definitely be back!

Nothing beats a double iced mocha and a warmed blueberry scone from Chocolate Iguana. I was crushed when they closed the Tanque Verde location, but continue to trek to 4th Ave for THE BEST scone in Tucson and arguably the US.

I'm a little lazy to type an elaborate praise of exultation for the little candy/coffee shop, Chocolate Iguana. But I took notes in my little notebook for lethargic yelp reviewing, ya digg? Chocolate Iguana $ [Kiwi Strawbery tea, candy violets (!!), gobstoppers] invigorating, undulating atmosphere quiet (not too many people at once) Kiddish in an adult way quirk, eccentric peaceful and friendly environment Creme Brulee coffee? Wow! Super chill, bike friendly pretty pastries and friendly lady staff Cute little gift shop, too

You gotta try the frozen "fat free" Mocha Explosions and their orange and chocolate chip scone! I've been going to the Chocolate Iguana for over a decade now. This is a must-stop for me every time I go to Tucson. It's not only located on historic 4th Avenue, it's in a fabulous Victorian-style house right on the corner of 4th Ave. & 6th St. So cute, so quaint. Makes me feel like I'm in San Francisco. There's no other way to describe the Chocolate Iguana except by using their description on their website: One-of-a-kind espresso bar, sweet shop, and café featuring award winning espresso drinks, gourmet sandwiches, made from scratch scones and pastries, decadent desserts, fine chocolates, nostalgic candy as well as unique cards and gifts.

Nice family owned and operated candy/coffee/goodie store and limited breakfast and lunch cafe. I'm partial to the frozen explosion and the lattes but it's all good. Scones are a bit heavy for my taste but the muffins are light and yummy. Store has some fun items, perfect for out of the box gifts. And a great selection of candies. If it had wifi it would get 5 stars!

This is my FAVORITE candy store in Tucson! Sure, people will say the coffee is great, the employees are friendly, the building is charming - this is all fine and well. But it's about the chocolate, the toffees, the sweets that will titillate your taste buds and leave you wanting more! Seriously, this is an awesome candy shop that you simply must visit if in the area.

Stopped here for some iced coffee and a diet soda this afternoon. My husband gets pretty excited when he finds a place that can do an iced decaf coffee meaning he doesn't have to go the iced Americano route. Really cute place with a good looking menu, the largest cupcakes I have ever seen, a wall of candy and some nice outdoor seating. The drinks were great and reasonability priced. The service was some of the nicest I have had at a coffee bar in Tucson. Will stop in again for sure the next time we are in the area!

Interesting place. The coffee is good and prepared better than a Starbucks or other chain. They have candy and gifts as well. The candy selection was most impressive and if it wasn't 8 in the morning I probably would have had some. As it stands I had a bagel and coffee instead. Only knocking off one star because they use Styrofoam cups that are not earth friendly and impart a weird flavor on the coffee.

This is the coolest candy place around and in the most adorable of locations in a quaint little house on a corner... It's really cute and the assortment of candies is vast...they also have food and coffee so be sure to stop in for lunch and leave with some goodies. I had an advertising class at UOFA a bazillion years ago and we had to pick a local business on which to center a campaign...had to pen a radio, television, and print ad...and my business of choice was the Chocolate Iguana!! I think I may even have the ads I wrote...floating around somewhere in my garage!! If you're walking around on 4Th...this place is NOT to be missed.

It is located on 4th avenue on a nice busy corner. I was not really enjoying Tucson until 4th avenue... great area. These guys have great espresso. And I had a delicious veggie sandwich too. It is cute, there are fun places to sit inside or outside, and the menu is large and fun. The baristas were nice. This is exactly the type os Indie coffe place I was looking for in Tucson.

When I was in massage school I went to Chocolate Iguana everyday for an iced coffee and a bagel. Yummy coffee and a great place to buy gifts. The owner and her two daughters are so nice and the patio is a great place to people watch. Also don't miss out on the chicken salad. It will change everything you've ever thought about chicken salad especially if you get a scoop of it on the Salade Verde.

I went here every morning before school in High school and would spend all my time studying here. The coffee is great and they have all kinds of funky candy and gifts. Very cute little cafe. I don't live in Tucson anymore but it's one of the places I miss dearly.

Chocolate Iguana is soooo good. And it's in a fun spot too, because you can sit out on the patio and people watch. 4th Ave is super busy and is filled with all types of people, so you can get a frozen coffee drink and a pastry and let time pass without ever getting bored. I had one of the best scones ever here. It was a fresh blueberry scone that had the most perfect crust. The coffee drink I had was really good too. It was like a Starbucks frap, but it had a little more coffee flavor. I got a caramel one, and my friend tried the mocha. Both were really good. They also have a variety of teas and other tasty treats, including a ton of candy, so definitely stop by this location and check it out.

Cute candy shop / cafe. I did not try any of the food, but I did get the "Mocha Explosion", which is a frozen mocha. It was delicious and I'm told it's fat free. I KNOW it wasn't sugar free, but I *choose* to believe that it was *possibly* fat free. Definitely check it out!
