ugh...no longer my go-to location. i went tonight with my roomie and decided to try something new. soup...yum. sandwich...heck yeah. WHY THE FUCK DON'T YOU PEOPLE HAVE A 1/2 SANDWICH & SOUP OPTION!? ugh...you anger me! i wanted to punch someone in the face. or the baby-maker. RARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! so...i got my sandwich and my soup...$11 bucks later i was angry and uncomfortably full. i CANNOT spend that much money and not do my best to eat all of the food in front of me. i ate most of the butternut squash soup...(my butternut squash soup is A MILLION times better) but i abandoned my sandwich (bart's bag) about...1/3 of the way thru. i'm proud of myself for making it that far. according to the menu, it was supposed to have brie. i think that i MIGHT have had a bite or two...but i didn't really notice. the honey mustard had NO BUSINESS being on there and i could seriously NOT even eat the damn thing. i had to pick it apart and eat selective bites...the tooth symbol that means hard bread needs to be modified...it needs to be a smile w/ an assload of broken teeth... basically, my meal was somewhat decent and i left there full, but not in a happy "thank you buddah for that meal, it was so tasty i couldn't stop myself from stuffing my face uncontrollably" way...more like a "i paid good money for this shit and i'm gonna eat it whether i like it or not, goddamn it...why did i put on the size 10s...i shoulda stuck to my fat girl 12s" kinda way.

Very rushed lunch! Not A place to go to be relaxed while you eat! There was so much noise and confusion I took my 2nd salad "To Go", My first (untouched) salad was scooped up by an over enthusiastic busser while I was getting milk in my coffee. If you go, don't try going during the lunch hour. I won't go back for a long long time. I will try new venues first.

Get the Charlie's Chicken on white or sourdough bread with a side of tomato basil soup! Great for a rainy day!

Want to impress a dinner guest or a dinner host? Buy a dessert from Beyond Bread. They have the best raspberry cake, chocolate cake, and fruit tarts. Prices range from $5-$30. Delicious!

I want to live in this place! I was visiting from out of town and just searched good places to eat, found here and loved it. I had the Good Parma sandwich with a side of the tomato basil soup. One of the best soups I have had and went great with the sandwich. I loved the pesto on chicken Parmesan sandwich, such a great addition. The desserts were not as great as I wanted but I would have gone back every day if that would have been feasible.

If you're on a budget, they have free bread, just be sure to grab it while it's crowded. Deserts are awful. Coffee is awful, bread is hard, low quality. The food is average but dumb yuppies think this is the best place since Wall Street. Employees are yapping, stuffing their mouths or ignoring you while there's a line. Tables are left unclean. Employees are mostly acne faced un-hygenic teens (ie: cheap labor) who seemed to be picking their noses, drinking sodas, touching their hair, genital area, etc while I waited. Probably less aggravation & cheaper to make it yourself, if you dumb yuppies can figure it out. I don't know what the catch is at Beyond Bread. It's Beyond me.

MY FAVORITE PLACE! Must try: Joel's Jolt, Maddy's Madness (on white, no bacon). Best thing to do is get the tomoato basil soup side, and dip either of these sandwiches into it. YUM I miss this place so much!

I have been going to beyond bread for years and I love it! I usually get annie's addiction or pablos pavo. Annie's addiction is great because it's a delicious and filling vegetarian sandwich that doesn't contain cheese, which is nearly impossible to find anywhere else. Pablo's Pavo is delicious, chunks of turkey breast, though I preferred it when it was served on ciabatta and not a whole wheat pita. Their rustic bread is my absolute favorite, I can eat a whole loaf by myself. The only real downside to beyond bread is that their staff really is not the best but in terms of cold sandwiches, no one in AZ is better in my opinion.

Dear BB, Thank you for feeding me for *cough* 4.5 years. You taste so good that I can't wait until my order is delivered to my table, I loiter around the free bread basket until I see it arrive at my table. Thank you for Avi's Avo, Catch of the Sea, and Rex's Revenge. Thank you for the perfect Arnold Palmer to cure my hangovers, and your original kettle chips. I have been known to drive the 100 miles down to see you when I'm in Phoenix visiting from California. It's all worth it. In fact, I usually eat one there and order another to-go for dinner. You're THAT good. Til we meet again, with endless love, Alice A.

The Wednesday special is amazing. The loaves of pretzel bread are also amazing. I love the pasta salad that comes with the sandwiches, although I'm usually too full to eat it. They even do some decent soups and breakfasts. But that Wednesday special. Oh my god. It makes me cry a little bit. What isn't so amazing is how insanely popular this place is and how hard it can be to find a table during the lunch rush. But I can't begrudge them their success. Beyond Bread is one of those places that makes me feel a little like I'm wasting my life because, really, what possible higher calling could there be than making some really awe inspiring kick-ass bread?

all sandwiches are5 stars without a doubt! may not want to waste a trip to BB on a salad, but thats just my opinion!

If I could eat here every other day, I would. The sandwiches are amazing. The bread can be a bit too hard it can hurt your mouth, but just ask them to put on a different bread or not to toast it for too long. The desserts are rich and gorgeous. Overall they rock with their fresh breads, mouth-watering sandwiches, and dessert that looks too good to eat. But they are too expensive for my budget for just a sandwich.

I absolutely used to love Beyond Bread. Recently, however, I'm sad to report that the quality has gone down a little bit. To their credit, the soups, desserts/pastries, and fresh baked bread are still very good. However, my main gripe is with the sandwiches. They have become just mediocre. The fact that they are ridiculously huge makes them impossible to eat sometimes, and the ingredients just don't quite come together on a lot of them.

  • Caren H.

Best sandwiches in Tucson! All their breads are amazing including the pretzel. I got a chicken BLT once and the french toast another time, both were great meals. Big portions.

I just can't get over how GOOD this place is!!! I just can't!!! Just when you think you've seen and had a good sandwich SHE'BAM Beyond Bread comes through with another!! This, along with Boudin SF rank among the TOP lunch places I've ever eaten at. Kudo's BB....Keep doin your 'Thang and Perhaps look at some other markets, you guys are on to something.

Favorite deli place in all of Tucson. The sandwiches are huge, cater to all types of eaters. They give out free bread to those waiting in line and it is a wonderful place for friends to meet up.

This place is great if I wasnt hungover hardcore when i visited my experience would be alot better but the sandwich I took home held up great 5 hours later and rocked my face, HARD. This place is mad good, bring a friend or even a date, your in college get it

I want to really like beyond bread, but the sandwiches are just so much bread. I always end up wishing I'd gone to get a hot sandwich elsewhere.

to be quite honest the girl was mildly sassy to me, but the food is so good that i don't care once i bit in to my Paulie's Pesto, and i had the Tomato Basil Soup which is so good! My bf's sammy was tasty too and his soup of the day wasn't half bad to dip my rosemary bread into i would say call your order in if you don't want to brave the masses =]

Love this place! I totally agree with Gabi, I only needed one visit and I've been hooked. I have to admit that I've only tried one sandwich, Max's Muffalotta, but it's way too good! I get it every time. The service is usually quick and friendly and the place has a great lunch time atmosphere. The sandwich is HUGE. I can barely open my mouth big enough to take a bite! Usually I end up taking leftovers, which makes for a great dinner! I even took my mom here and she couldn't get enough!

I've had mixed experiences with Beyond Bread. I have been to both locations, several times each, and the one on Speedway is definitely better. The bread, as mentioned by other reviews, can be really hard sometimes. Perhaps I'm just not used to bread that way, but it is strange. They have a fair number of options on the menu, including both hot and cold sandwiches. Still, if you don't find anything on the menu that you like, you are able to order a "Plain Jane"and add to it as you see fit. The prices are okay, but nothing to write home about. There is quite a bit of seating, but every time I go there are a lot of tables that still have to be cleaned, so typically it ends up a pain in the ass to find a seat. The desserts all look excellent, but are mediocre in taste. You get free bread while you wait, and usually it's pretty good. The sides offered with your sandwich sort of suck. I would've much preferred that they give you the option of having bread as a side with your sandwich, especially given their name.

  • Lee W.

great, tasty sandwiches including some vegetarian choices. Salads, too haven't tried those yet, tho. Nice selections of desserts, too! great bread!! And they make their own!

This is a great local business that serves great sandwiches, soups, salads, and loafs of bread. I have tried almost every sandwich on the menu and am never disappointed. Some are better than others. My personal favorites are: Stan's Stack Rex's Revenge Max's Muffalatta Avi's Avo Joel's jolt Its Greek to Me salad The only problem with some of the sandwiches is the bread can be pretty much impossible to eat without your sandwich falling apart. They put a tooth next to the hard bread, which are often very tasty options, but are too hard to eat when making up a sandwich. They let you substitute any bread though, so just in case you don't want a super hard bread. The sandwiches are huge and will often be impossible to eat the entire thing. The stan's stack is basically 2 sandwiches, so for 10 bucks you can really get 2 meals. For sides, the pasta salad is really good. But I like the kettle chips. The iced tea is awesome. The desserts are amazing. I always get a peanut butter chocolate cookie. My all time favorite cookie.

  • Shawn C.

What more can you say for a place that gives you slices of freshly baked bread with an easily accessible tub of butter while you wait? Are you on a Low Carb Diet? That's ok, there are other places to eat in Tucson. Beyond Bread is not for you. Sure, you can get a salad silly- but bread comes on the side. How do you handle temptation? Favorite Sandwich- Joel's Jolt minus the Russian dressing add horseradish. You get a side of chips or pasta salad- BEST PASTA SALAD I HAVE EVER HAD...ever. Desserts are incredible. I recommend the cheesecake brownie and lemon squares. PS- The tea is sometimes Desert Flower- go out on a whim, its amazing too!

Fantastic, I'm so glad to have had the chance to eat here again. So many options, including healthy ones, and with fresh ingredients and bread, this place is a winner. They need some locations in California!

Beyond Bread is one of my favorite places. I'm a UofA alum - and anyone who else is knows just how popular of a place this is! There's a line out the door on weekends and during the lunch rush. To avoid the crowds, I usually call ahead and order to-go. While all of their sandwiches are delicious, I always end up going with the Plain Jane (a build your own sandwich). Their multigrain bread is my favorite! My friend's always got Avi's Avo or Barts Bag. I don't live in Tucson anymore, but whenever I'm in town to work I absolutely have to stop by here. I usually bring my mom and sister home a loaf of their bread and they absolutely love it. They also have delicious soups - my favorite is the tomato basil. And their cookies are HUGE and sooo yummy!

I love Beyond Bread. I mean, I'm sort of obsessed. Everything is good. No, I swear, the Fran's Fromage is epic. Maya's Market: amazing. Don't even get me started on the desserts. A Tucson favorite. I literally suggest this place every time someone wants to go out to eat.

    (5)
  • Richard J.

Their sandwiches are BEYOND, literally. The club is big enough for at least 2 people. Everything is fresh and tasty. They bake their bread fresh daily. My only complaint is that their baguette is too crunchy. It actually tears up the roof of your mouth. There is always a line, especially on weekends like homecoming when all of the UofA students want to bring their parents to taste the goodness. When will we see a Beyond Bread franchise open in other states...like LA!?!? I really cant wait to go back for a Bart's Bag.

This place is a treasure. In 20 years it will still be here and be one of Tucson's distinct and distinguished locations. Sandwiches, breads, soups and pastries are all great tasting. But let's not underestimate free bread and butter while you stand in line! I've had the roast beef, ham and cheese and meatball subs, all are worth the trip. I like the cole slaw also. It's a peppery surprise. They also make a mean Russian tead cake. Don't know if they qualify for wait service, you order a counter and they give you a food related flag that you carry to the table. They find you by the flag. So it's a half wait, git it, half wait. I prefer the ambience at the Speedway and Wilmot location, plus you have the added benefit of being near Bookman's, so why night make a night of it?

  • Angelica P.

Loooove Beyond Bread! I live right across the street and come here at least twice a week for my Rex's Revenge! I've never seen this place not filled with people but yet the service is great and I'm always more than satisfied! :)

Essentially, my review of the Speedway Beyond Bread should be repeated here. I'm infatuated with the place and tend to go every other trip to Tucson. Due to the location, I wind up at this one most frequently. The sandwiches are huge, delicious, and incredible. It's definitely worth staying for coffee and dessert. The service is streamlined and quick, but it can get crowded and a bit overwhelming at times. If it's restaurant rush hour, I generally find a more mellow place to eat. Four stars. Beyond Bread is one of those places I wish I could put in my pocket and take home with me.

  • Kristen W.

Beyond Bread is the most amazing thing that's ever happened to sandwiches. I always get either the Rex's Revenge or the Pablo's Pavo (but on bread instead of the wrap) because they're both so good. The bread is amazing. The desserts are also great--the Chocolate Mousse Torte is the best cake in the world. Also, you can order whole cakes here for birthdays and such, and they decorate them beautifully, the best looking cakes ever!

  • Brad H.

Beyond Bread consistently offers the best sandwiches I have had in Tucson and anywhere else. The quality of the bread and the products on the sandwiches make them all delicious. Moreover, the menu is extensive and offers something for every palate and even has vegetarian sandwiches that the most carnivorous of persons can get behind. If you go during the lunch hour expect some traffic, but the place is always well staffed and gets your sandwiches out to you quickly.

As a native New Yorker and current resident of Oakland, CA I find it funny that my favorite sandwich shop is in Tucson (U of A 1994)...I'm really bummed that this place wasn't here when I was in school. We would go to the Sausage Deli (3 Star) or Baggins (3.5 Star) or maybe Mercury's (3 Star). Never Eegee's or chain's. I almost always get Max's Muffaletta, a salty in a good way mix of cured meats, olive spread, provolone, etc. on fresh and crunchy ciabatta bread. It's 2 meals easily, and I'm a pretty big eater. It's hard to go wrong on their menu. I eat there at least twice every time I visit Tucson and try to hit it on my way out of town as well.

Before I moved to California my family and I would go to Beyond Bread on weekdays or weekends to eat. The food is so delicious and so is the bread. As you walk in there is a sample of bread with butter that you can try. That bread is so delicious. The service is great and so are the people who work there. I miss living in Tucson for Beyond Bread. Also, the coffee drinks are very tasty.

  • Sally S.

We continue to eat lunch at Beyond Bread every time I visit kids at UofA. Still love the bread and fixins. I did try something helpful. I have a hard time eating a sandwich with thick bread. Little person. Little month. So I asked for sour dough bread on my sandwich last time. When the girl repeated my order she said white bread and I said no sour dough and then she said white bread again. So I walked away from the counter thinking....how can a girl who doesn't know the difference between bland 'white' bread and flavorful sourdough work here? The sandwich was made correctly and I loved it.

Tasty fresh food. Amazing bread and sandwiches. The coffee and pastries are good too. The lines can get very long but that's because this place is so good.

  • Mande S.

I crave this place so often that I'm found crying tears of longing in strange places. When I was a U of A student in the early 2000s I lived nearby and couldn't get enough of the place. Free bread in butter while standing in line (ah, memories), excellent bread for sandwiches (although yes, sometimes my teeth did complain), and great sides. My boyfriend at the time was a Marine in California but also went to the U of A for a while, and he asked me to bring Beyond Bread to him if I went to visit. I make sure to stop in Tucson JUST to get some Beyond Bread sandwiches for roadtrips. I also love you, Betty's Brie.

so good. we had brad's beef & avi's avo ~ both delicious & had enough to take home for supper :) plus it was crazy busy during lunch hour but still managed to be VERY fast.

This is *the* place for a gourmet sandwich in Tucson! I've been coming to Beyond Bread for quite a while, they offer a wide variety of gourmet sandwiches, breads (to take home), salads and a full bakery with pies and cookies to boot. Bread is fresh and the meat/cheese is always delicious. While I love most of what they make, the portions can be unnecessarily large. Also, of the last 3 times I've ordered a side of baby carrots (which come with the meal), twice I received a bag of rotten carrots. If you've quite an appetite for a big sandwich, come to Beyond Bread. Otherwise, for a simpler sandwich in Tucson, you can't beat Baggins.

Yum Yum Yum Yum...Yuuuummmmm. I hate and love the fact that Beyond Bread is a Tucson-only restaurant. I hate it because there's not one in San Francisco, but I love it because it's the way it is because it is a Tucson-only restaurant. Their food is amazing. I will drive from where I used to live (Grant & Silverbell) all the way over to (Campbell & Ft. Lowell) JUST for their sandwiches, and nothing else. I love sandwiches and here they serve salads, soups, sandwiches and deserts. I'm a big fan of their breads since it's freshly-baked and there are different breads each day -- ranging from Rosemary, to White, to Sun-Dried Tomato, and even a loaf with Anchos in it. They're all tasty. As you wait in line to place your order, there is always a table with sample bread you can taste. Don't mistaken the big hunk of butter for cream cheese -- you wish. It's still good nonetheless. Service is speedy and the workers are always friendly. Seating might be hard to find if you go at their peak hours (around noon and dinner-time) but I would stand and eat my sandwich if need be. Anyways, I'm a HUGE fan of Stan's Stack, Avi's Avo, and Brad's Beef. When they ask you what kind if side you want, always...ALWAYS go with the pasta salad -- it's 50 cents more but DAMN it's good. Don't come here if you have missing teeth, or dentures because the crust of their bread is sometimes hard. Ok, if you have dentures make sure you have extra strong glue because you'll be knawing away at the crust of bread for a while! But then again, if you peel off the crust, the bread is uber soft. I dig the bread and I desperately need my fix of Beyond Bread right now... (Photos uploaded)

I was visiting from CA and was in need of a good sandwich for lunch. I found this place, and it was packed (drove around for 15 minutes just to get a parking spot)!!! I toughed it out though, figuring it was a hot spot and had some good food. I was right, and I'm glad I waited. I got the BLT, but wish I would have tried something else when I saw everyone else's yummy sandwiches passing me by. A little pricey, but that was to be expected with a place like this. I'd compare it to Panera Bread or Corner Bakery back home in CA, but better!

I went to The University of Arizona, but I am back in Southern California, and I can say that I wish more than anything that I had a Beyond Bread here!! I miss the Tomato soup and tuna sandwich more than I miss Dirtbags! (I know weird huh?) This made my college experience!

  • Sarah M.

Well...so here's the thing. I'd love this to be a four maybe four and a half star place. And last time I went, it definitely was. So maybe I ordered wrong or something. And maybe I should have paid more attention to the 'ouch my tooth hurts' picture on the menu. Because wow - that's a hard roll they serve. I got the Bart's Bag and the bread was far too hard for the sandwich to actually be all that enjoyable. The hummus on the greek salad was really, really not hummus. It wasn't bad but I'm not really sure what it was... To be fair, I really did like the basil, fresh tomato, mozzarella sandwich I had last time. But that bread man...for a place that trades on the bread...beyond indeed.

Delicious sandwiches at this joint. Although kind of expensive, really nice types of premade sandwiches. Each day they have different soups. They also always have new flavors of bread and butter waiting for you at the entrance to try. I had an incredible gazpacho there and always loved every new sandwich I tried I really enjoyed. Although not like Bay Cities at all, it served well in my sandwich cravings.

  • Corey G.

This is probably my favorite sandwich place in town. Brad's Beef and Stan's Stack are some of their best sandwiches, plus they have all the bread 'n butter you could possibly want. Only downside is that people can reach in and spread their hand germs on the bread. But who cares, it's free! Their breakfasts are OK; I've only gotten it once. They have potato pancakes and little egg sandwiches. My buddy said their lattes are mediocre, but I guess their iced coffee is pretty stellar. I go here at least 3 or 4 times per month. It's straight up baller!!! Love it.

  • Rory M.

I have been going here for many years and i have yet to be let down. My fiance loves the soups in bread bowls, the potato soup to be specific, I usually go with a brads beef and you cant go wrong with there pastas salad as a side. I'm not going to claim its the best sandwich shop this side of the Mississippi, it may not even be the best in town. Its just a solid place for lunch.

    (4)
  • Carmel B.

Brads Beef, Ollie's Original are the best!! Great breakfast treats too! Even just ordering the rolls for a dinner party is amazing! I've been going here for over 10 years and its by far some of the best sandwiches I have ever had!

Good ol' Beyond bread. I remember when you were just a little tyke across the street... Do not go here at noon or at one. It is packed and you will most definitly run into people you don't want to see, and haven't seen in a long time. Especially if you're from Tucson, or have lived here for a while. But the sammies! So delish and huge, split it with a friend or have the rest for dinner later. But the reason why I go there most often is just ONE: The $14 chocolate mousse tart/pie/cake that I stop and bring to any house when I am invited for dinner, my dad's bday, or any reason really. OK maybe there are TWO: The buttercream cupcakes with fruit and a little piece of chocolate on top are only $2.50 and I always bring them to work for someone's birthday. It is so speical and amazing and pretty damn cheap for how beautiful they are. OK maybe there's THREE: Joel's Jolt. Yum, Turkey, provolone, jalapeno, lettuce, tomato, onion, Russian dressing on Ciabatta. Hold the lettuce, YUM! OK FOUR: In winter, the Collette's Cordon Blue is soo tasty. Warm and delicious. Chicken, ham, swiss, honey mustard on White. I switch the HM for mayo. And, I am done.

If you can't find a good sandwich here, odds are you do not like sandwiches. Its that simple. This place is absolutely great. Fresh delicious breads and creative and filling sandwiches. Free bread samples when you walk in is a bonus. This place helped nourish me through law school. Salads are good too. It can get busy during lunch/dinner to be prepared, but even busy they are pretty quick about getting your food out to you. Joe's Jolt is my sandwich of choice.

Beyond bread has an incredibly large selection of items to choose from. It is not just a great place to get sandwiches (hot and cold) and breakfast items, but it is a full scale bakery as well. I had the Avi's Avo Avocado Turkey sandwich on Ciabbata. First of all it was huge, It had a nice amount of turkey and guacamole. The taste was very fresh and delicious. The bread was clearly fresh and also excellent. The service was awesome, I got my sandwich brought to my table in less than five minutes. The personnel were very nice as well. I left very satisfied and highly recommend this place as both a bakery and a deli

I love Beyond Bread and I am incredibly sad that they are not up in Phoenix. Brad's Beef has become one of my favorite sandwiches of all times and I can never make it out of Tucson without stopping by to satisfy my craving. Sometimes the line is long and tables are sparse, but in the end it is all worth it. The portions are large and the variety is endless- worth a shot if you are in the area!

  • Is Y.

Yuk, mediocrity at it's best! Okay, maybe the bread is good, nothing special, La Brea at Fry's and Cost Co is just as good if not better at times. Try Simply Bread in Phx, that's how bread should be made. Where was the brie on my RB sandwich? And the salad was commercial greens with what tasted like bottled dressing. Give me a break, I'll get my ingredients at TJ and make it myself--don't bother!

They really do have some incarnation of just about every sandwich you could imagine, all with silly alliterative names. Some of the sandwiches can get a little pricey, but you usually get a good amount (the leftovers from the club sandwich make for a good lunch the next day). If you like any of the breads you can buy a loaf to take home at a pretty good price. It can get pretty crowded at lunch time, but the lines move quickly and you're never waiting long for your food. The parking lot sucks, but you can always park in one of the adjacent lots and trek it. They also sell a lot of desserts, but I honestly haven't found any that I liked. Haven't tried the soups, salads, or coffees either--I just always go for the sandwiches, which are awesome.

I had the albacore half sandwich with kettle chips. Their sandwich is nothing to rave about. I've had much better sandwich in San Diego. We also ordered a tiramisu for dessert and that wasn't much better than the sandwich. All in all, I'm not really interested in coming back to this sandwich shop.

I try to get here every time I'm in Tucson. I became a fan when they first opened and I still lived in T-Town....their bread has always been fantastic, marble rye, walnut, ciabatta are all my favorites on their own. Sandwiches are great...Henry's Ham has always been my favorite and it's hard to order anything else.

Amazing sandwiches and fantastic bread. The fat free coleslaw is great (if you like vinegar)

  • John O.

The sandwich is awesome, but a little overpriced. They do have a wide selection to choose off the menu, but my selection comes from all the hot students who comes here on the weekend, and that is why it get 5 stars!!!

It's a good place to eat. I've had reasonable sandwiches and soups, but I can't say it's any better than Panera Bread.

If you're hungry for a sandwich around lunch time this is the place to go. They have the largest selection of sandwiches you could imagine. I haven't ordered a bad one yet!

fabulous! one thing i absolutely can NOT get enough of is bread. and it's beyond bread that makes me happy. love the lil sample fountain in front of the cashier... couldn't stop eating one slice after another. and the PRICE! paid $3.25 for a loaf of bread! now, THAT's a steal! if i lived in az, i'd totally come HERE to buy me a loafer than drive out to trader joes or any of the place i get my bread.. sry joe, the bread here is just too much for me to spare... :X by what i hear, i hear the sammies are great, but had brunch prior so had no room left, but it was bad enough that i brought a loaf of bread with me back to cali... beyond bread, you rock!

Who doesn't like Beyond Bread? Great place. Somewhat limited for vegetarians, but do-able. Sandwiches are HUGE so take a friend and share. Many options in case you feel like being wild in the sweet department. The chocolate babka rocks!

YUM! Sandwiches and soup are consistently great for lunch, and the other half of the sandwich is great for the next day. The pastries are okay, too, but stay away from the espressos - bitter!

  • Ryan M.

mmmmm Beyond Bread how I miss thee. If you are hungry and have lots of room in your stomach try the curts club. The sandwich is freaking huge!!! Call in your order ahead of time during lunch time because the line can be huge. I like how all the sandwiches all have different personal names.

LOVE THIS PLACE!! I've eaten at a ton of bakery-deli-cafes. This one is the tops. The bread here is impeccably fresh and well made. Tender crumb, shatteringly crisp crust. Really fresh ingredients in the sandwiches. The Cam's Classic-- a roast beef sandwich on garlic Italian bread was super. The dessert case looked amazing too. I want to go back for a gigantic pretzel sandwich. Holy shit! I wish I would have seen that BEFORE I placed my order. Heaven has gigantic pretzel sandwiches.

  • Stephanie S.

HUGE delicious SANDWICHES! I LOVE the names of some of them, like Brad's Beef and Stan's Stack. Can I get those with extra dressing? ; ) The desserts are great too! Try a chocolate cake, or perhaps a fruit tart, or a magic bar....

Consistently delicious. Great vegetarian options. It's nearly always crowded, but the cashiers are very efficient and they let you sample the bread in line to tide you over. My favorite is Maya's Market, but Fran's Fromage is also quite good. I've had salads here as well, but in my opinion they are not quite on par with the sandwiches. Also, don't pay extra for the pasta salad. It's not good.

Their sandwiches are the best in Arizona. I have been living in Phoenix for the last 4 years and nothing comes close to this place. If you come to Tucson, you need to come here. Sandwiches to try: 1) Rex's Revenge 2) Charlie's Chicken 3) Brad's Beef

Beyond Bread is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner! They offer selections for carnivores, omnivores, pescatarians and vegetarians! There is definitely something for everyone - and now they offer beer and wine in addition to coffee, tea, delicious iced tea and fountain drinks. Their baked goods are gigantic, so great for sharing or bringing to a party! This place is definitely my "go-to" lunch spot, even though it can get a little crowded and busy. I've never waited too long for my food, and it always tastes fresh! On any given day you will see cyclists enjoying a meal after a ride, folks having lunch meetings, families after soccer practice, and just regular Tucson folks having a quick lunch! They recently shook things up by taking away the butter for the free bread samples - but it's probably healthier for us, anyway. They still have the free bread, so that's what matters! My favorite items: Joel's Jolt, Maya's Market, and the Chicken Tortilla Soup in a bread bowl (green chile, not tomato based!). Oh, and for a treat, try the pasta salad - it's made with orecchiette!

Beyond Bread was a great spot to have lunch! I had Collete's Cordon Blue sandwich on sourdough. The food was served promptly, and it had a great blend of cheese, honey mustard, and chicken. The bread was fantastic, and my friend's focaccia was also very tasty. The portions were significantly better than equivalents like Panera, and the sides that come with a sandwich include healthy options like carrots and baked chips! The location was clean, and the staff was super friendly.

Went here for lunch, they have everything from beer to wine, to fresh made bread, to sandwiches & soup. Even a kids menu... This is a great place to come eat for lunch, the portions are HUGE for the $$ (which is great) the meat was fresh, the bread was perfect and the desert was even better! I got the Burts Bag sandwich, it came with a bag of chips (which they make) and I had a fresh baked cookie. I did not leave hungry I can tell you that... I had to wrap up the rest of my sandwich and ate it later for dinner (and I can eat a lot) I suggest this place to anyone who likes a good sandwich...!!!

  • Jenny S.

Beyond Bread is like PANERA BREAD ON STEROIDS. order at the counter & bring your sign which educates you about ingredients (instead of a number) to your table SO MANY SANDWICHES & SALADS to choose from, they even have bread bowls & baked desserts sandwiches ARE HUGE & come w/ a free side (although some sides cost extra).. next time i'd go for a half sandwich --avi's avocado: good but nothing amazing, any avocado lover will think this sandwich is decent, ALTHOUGH it went well w/ the spicy chipotle cream cheese that my mom got on the side of her zoe's zinger. the top of the ciabatta bread was really good but the bottom part was too hard --zoe's zinger: only had room to try a piece of the pretzel bread but it was good --kettle chips: WAY too oily --side salad: extra $1 NOTE: free bread samples when you walk in w/ butter to spread (really liked the nut & grain bread we tried)

I used to always drive by Beyond Bread, but it never really interested me because to me, bread is just nothing but meh: a basic staple in my life. "What was so special about it?" I kept asking myself. Just your usual sandwich, salad, and soup shop. A friend of mine recommended this place to me, and I immediately became curious: how exactly can you go "beyond" bread? After my visit there, they should probably rename themselves "Beyond good bread" since the bread at Beyond Bread is beyond good! When I first came in with my friend for lunch, I saw their menu was pretty huge! They had more cold sandwiches than hot sandwiches, but they also had selections on soups, salads, and even mac and cheese. It took me plenty of time to decide what I wanted, but I ended up going for the Roger's Roast while my friend went with the Enzo's Ending. After we got our order, we were given a stand that said "Coffee Cake" on it. I thought it was really creative and a great idea because it gave me something to do while I was waiting for my food. Who knew that coffee cake (at least the one at Beyond Bread) was made with sour cream as opposed to coffee??? Not only that, but in front of their counter, they have a little stand that contains several different pieces and types of bread. They also included some type of butter spread (Hey! That rhymed!) that you could spread onto the bread (Hey! That rhymed too!). We both liked our sandwiches, which came on toasted Philly Pretzel Rolls. Enzo's Ending was like an Italian-style sandwich while Roger's Roast had roast beef, lettuce, cheese, and horseradish sauce. I loved the Roger's Roast! My friend liked the Enzo's Ending as well. We both ordered kettle chips as our side, and they were beyond good as well! If there's one bad thing I had to say about Beyond Bread, it's the fact that it can get overcrowded because of how great their food is. Luckily, you can order your food to go if there's not enough seats in the restaurant. Beyond Bread is only in Tucson, so if you ever come to Tucson even for one day, you MUST visit Beyond Bread! I can only say good things about the Roger's Roast and probably the Enzo's Ending, but really you won't be disappointed with any sandwich there (unless the bread is too hard that it breaks your teeth, but even so, their menu specifically tells you which sandwiches have bread hard enough to break your teeth). Have your 5-year old do eenie-meenie-miney-moe in front of the cashier. You'll end up a happy customer whichever way your kid points (as long as it's not out the door).

Definitely a Tucson staple. Just stopped in for something sweet and coffee before heading to the airport. Had the chai tea and it was delicious. We also had the tiramisu and fruit tarts. Everything was tasty. Cafeteria ambience.

I really dig Beyond Bread. From their sandwiches to their salads and bread bowls. I can't think of anything I have ever ordered here that I've not been very happy with. I'm a huge fan of Avi's Avacado Sandwich and their Clam Chowder bread Bowl that can be found on Fridays. Those are my go-to's whenever I come here, unless I'm needing to have a salad and eat a little healthier. Their breakfast sandwiches are fantastic with the country potatoes on the side... you can't go wrong there. ALL their baked goods are scrumptious. The only problem I ever have is trying to narrow down my choice. They all taste and look so wonderful, it's hard to pick just one thing... OK so usually I end up getting one for now and a little something for later on ;) I'm grateful we have more than one location here, they are all terrific- the one on Campbell is just my personal favorite.

Clean sandwich shoppe with interesting flavors and a great crew! Sometimes when you want a sandwich, you want something better than a "Blah" Subway that is slapped together by some irritated 16 year old. At Beyond Bread the ingredients are fresh and delicious. I have been a customer for many years and I've always been happy with my experience.

  • Joe D.

Try everything they have. The sandwiches (grilled cheese; Charlie's Chicken; Avi's Avo) are great, the pastries are amazing (try the caramel pecan swirl), and the specialty breads (banana bread that includes a vein of cream cheese) are delicious. I have since moved, but still miss this place and cannot wait to go back when I visit Tucson.

  • Yves J.

I've had 5 different sandwiches from here. Each time they've been delicious. They have the best carrot cake in town. Man is it good.

  • Karin K.

I've it been there once, so far... I got a Greek salad and the tortilla soup (random combination, I know) and the servings were huge! The soup filled me up for a very late lunch/early dinner and the salad made two more meals! I like that they have so many breads to choose from and the staff was really helpful in choosing one since I had no idea what 98% of them would taste like... The layout took me a minute to figure out and they were really busy, but everyone was really nice and it was very clean.

As the name implies, this restaurant bakes a large variety of bread every day but they also do sandwiches, soup, and desserts/pastries. We love this place (along with a fair number of other folks around north-central Tucson judging by the crowd that always seems to be here). Great choice for lunch or really anytime you want an excellent sandwich (soup is also very good). A large variety on the menu, daily specials, or build your own. I'm a fan of the muffalota or the Italian grinder, my wife the cranberry turkey special. Iced mocha to drink and you have a tasty lunch to go. And don't forget to help yourself to a piece of their fresh bread while you wait or consider your options.

  • Jinny H.

Yummy! I love avi's avo for the lunch menu and the green ham and eggs for the breakfast menu. The place is cleanly kept, and the service has not failed me (and I've gone to different Beyond Bread locations many times). Definitely recommended.

  • Morgan J.

The Avis Avo is amazing! So amazing I haven't been brave enough to venture off and try another sandwich. What can I say, I know what I like on a sandwich and don't need to switch it up! I do make a few modifications and it's really nice that they are so accommodating! I always switch to Rye bread, eliminate the sprouts, and add crasins! The past few times I've been the cashiers always ask if I would like to substitute lettuce for the sprouts which I gladly accept! The tomato soup is also an amazing addition to their sandwiches. It is a great dip and also great on its own! Service is always upbeat, friendly, and on top of their game. The place is clean, food is good, and they even serve beer now! This is one of my favorite sandwich places in town.

  • Deanna C.

Love the BLT and the Ignacio's Italian breakfast sandwich. And, great coffee. Which is a big deal to me. I like a place that has good food and good coffee which is oddly not a norm. Beyond Bread is always a stop when I am back in Tucson.

I've eaten lunch here several times and sometimes do takeout. They are known for their bread and even some of the other Tucson restaurants use their bread. One of the fun things is that when you are deciding what to order, there are pieces of sample bread available that you can have while you wait. Even though it is crowded they move people through pretty quickly. Sandwiches are quite large but I especially like their salads which are also large. If you are eating there, after you order, they give you a number sign that you place where you sit down and they bring the meal to you. This is nice because the restaurant is usually pretty full. There is some limited outside seating also. My favorite sandwich is Bart's Bag that has turkey, brie, lettuce and tomato and my favorite salad is "gobble me up" that has turkey, cinnamon pecans, cranberries, gorgonzola and greens. They have daily specials and soups, mac and cheese and also offer breakfast. Everything I've had there has been excellent. The web address for the menu is: beyondbread.com/menu so you can plan ahead or order takeout.

I love beyond bread! When I move away I might miss this place the most of anywhere. I have never had a bad experience and every time I have a guest in town they love it too. My favorite sandwich is the Rex's Revenge, so good!!

  • Chanel G.

I mean. This is just my favorite place in the world. I have to actively stop myself from going to this place more than once a week. I ADORE IT. My favorite sandwich: Chad's Choice (grilled chicken, chiles, sprouts, provolone & mayo). It is so good! But I'm also a fan of the Dab's Delight (tuna, tomato & cheddar) and the Pauly's Pesto. In fact, I have tried several sandwiches and have yet to be disappointed. And oh man, the freaking pastries. Three words: VANILLA FRUIT TART. They have a small and a large. I say grab the large and share the wealth! The coffee cake in the mug, the lemon bars, the scones! Oh my! I can literally go on for days about how much I love this place There's something for everyone here: sandwiches, salads, soups! It's a really great place with a fun atmosphere and free bread samples. And now they have beer and wine! Do yourself a favor, and just go for lunch one day. You will be AMAZED!

  • Jill H.

One of the best sandwich spots I've ever been to. You are greeted with free bread and butter while you stand in line to order. All the bread is fresh, and you can buy loaves from behind the counter. The servings are huge, so consider getting a half! Desserts look amazing, although I haven't tried them. Fast, friendly service. My favorite? Maddy's Madness on a pretzel roll.

    (5)
  • Alexis R.

Love all the freshly cooked bread choices! I always get a pretzel to split with everyone with extra honey mustard dipping sauce! I love getting a new sandwich creation each time I go! Such an amazing variety!

  • Jill N.

I really like this place.. I have been here a few times recently, and always good! I enjoy the people watching here...It is always busy it seems! Which is a good sign! Its a little pricey, but not more expensive than the rest of the sandwhich places around the University Area.. I think this is a hidden gem! Don't go here if you are watching your carbs!

    (4)
  • Darryl N.

Great casual place with excellent food, soup, beer and bread. I love the Tomato Basil and I usually do a DUO with half sandwich and soup. Good stuff. Sometimes the crust on the bread is a little hard, but tasty. Beer selection is okay and you can growler it. They also have excellent deserts to browse. Casual night or lunch or drop by later for desserts.

  • Korbyn K.

GOOD not GREAT. I alternate between salads and sandwiches here and they are yummy! If you are trying to avoid carbs, then I don't suggest coming here.

Try the pesto sanwich. It is mouth watering and it comes with a bag of baked chips. Also, try their cheescake pie. Love beyond bread.

  • Austin S.

Only three stars? I know, I know. While I really really really appreciate this place as a long standing local fixture and how good they are to the community, the food is still kinda so so. I generally love the breads they bake and many of the sandwiches are awesome. They crank out lunch time better than anyone else in the restaurant industry. But that being said...the hummus is yucky, the salads are way too huge and still somehow tasteless, and that ciabatta will crack your teeth if you forget to order your sandwich on something else! Ok, so they only get 3 stars in my book, but the prices are reasonable, the staff is sweet, and the pastries are pretty good too. I like the Avo Avi, cookies, and macaroni and cheese, which are my recommendations.

  • Chan H.

I am obsessed with this place. I am always looking for bread that's not your run of the mill, grocery-store purchased bread. I always have at least 1.5 loafs sitting in my home. My favorite everyday bread is the Multigrain. Their sandwiches are amazing too! Huge and generous portions. I like this location more than the other one on Speedway I've gone to once. The workers seemed nicer and more cheery. But honestly, I don't really care because their bread is that amazing. :)

  • Tiffany D.

Beyond bread is always my go-to when I can't figure out what I want to eat. Their salads and sandwiches are so yummy (as I'm sure everything else that I haven't tried yet is as well). And there are so many things to chose from!

    (4)
  • Marina M.

I have nothing but love for this Tucson staple. Once in a while, all I want is a sandwich, and it doesn't get better than Beyond Bread. Their bread is freshly-made and delicious and there are sooo many choices. Despite this, I tend to get the Avi's Avo, on wheat. There are a couple of sandwiches on the menu served on hard bread (like Avi's Avo) but the bread can be substituted to one of your choice. A little tooth on the menu signifies a sandwich with hard bread. The ingredients in the sandwiches are always fresh and good quality. Also, the chicken tortilla soup is a real winner. Reminds me of pureed Mexican chicken caldo. Love this place, and the portions are huge!!

A great sandwich place with some really good pastries. I really like the vegetarian sandwiches and I'm not a vegetarian. They're just that good.

  • Shanna K.

Was taken here by some hosts when I was in town for a conference, and while suspicious at first (thinking it was similar to a locally owned Panera), I was quite impressed. Free bread samples for everyone, a fun and delicious menu with tons of vegetarian options (sadly, but not surprisingly, not super GF friendly). Everything we had was delicious, and the servers were incredibly friendly and welcoming. If I lived here, I'd be nomming down on the bread and bread accoutrements here on a regular basis.

It's was just ok. Pretty pricy fir what you get. Workers could be nicer at those prices.

  • Tom H.

Love this place. Extensive menu with lots of good choices. Main problem is what to choose. Sandwiches are varied and come with an incredible variety of good breads. Many salads from which to choose. Good soups and a special each day. Now they serve craft beer. Wish we had them in Phoenix.

    (5)
  • Martin R.

Not quite as outstanding as I once remember. Perhaps the success has gone to their head and, subsequently, the need to impress us waned. Nonetheless, in T Town I'll sometimes take what I can get and this is one of the best sandwiches

    (4)
  • Chelsey T.

A solid sandwich experience. One of the best places in town to get a big, flavorful sammie. Lots of comparisons to Panera, but I disagree.(Panera's sandwiches are lackluster, but their soups and 1/2 salads are delish.) Beyond Bread's side garden salads are pathetic--better at Burger King-- and unfortunately the soups are nothing to write home about. But the sandwiches are always very worthwhile! (Just watch out for the ones with a little tooth logo next to the name. It's a warning about the bread being very big and firm to chew. Not a problem with very fresh ciabatta, but when you get one that's a bit older...well, they warned you.)

  • Honesty I.

WOW! A tad bit "pricey", but WOW is the food delicious! It is a treat and such a nice change of environment and food when you go here. Walking into freshly baked carb Heaven. Great food and great service. Thank you for opening your business here and sharing it with us all. :-)

Great vegetarian options and I love the Brads beef too. Excellent bread, you can always pick a different bread for your sandwich which is cool.

Great soup, salad, and sandwich place. Tortilla soap is amazing! I got a veggie sandwich with huge slices of mozzarella and basil. It was so good. They have beer and growlers if you want to take some beer to go

I miss this place so much. When I was in college I went twice a week and my parents when in town never missed a trip. It also was a place that made me want to open my own sandwich shop. Same as they do. Operate from late morning to late afternoon only. Fresh ingredients, fresh baked bread, and amazing combinations. The sandwiches are always great. I love the turkey with brie sundried tomato and honey mustard. So awesome. Fresh roasted turkey. real turkey. If ever in tucson go..you must go.

  • Tiffany N.

Lindsey D really hyped up Beyond Bread for me. She starting talking about how we could go to lunch there about a month before I actually made it to Tucson so not only was it a guarantee I'd be headed there for a sandwich I was super curious about what kind of sandwich could inspire one-month-in-advance planning. Now I realize they focus on being beyond just the bread, but truthfully this bread is really great. It would probably have been enough for me to have just that. But, they also have a pretty delicious baked goods section. And a lovely salad selection. And the ability to order half a sandwich and half a salad. It's a lot of food, reasonably priced, and quite tasty. I'm not sure I'm up to the devotion level of Lindsey, but I am glad I had the opportunity to hang out on their misters-covered patio and enjoy a sandwich from these purveyors of bread.

  • Larry T.

I just think this place is amazing! I've been going to this location for a few years now but I have been really impressed with my past couple of visits here. It seems the items they sell here get better and better every time I go. I never sat down in the restaurant to enjoy their food (that will change in the near future) bit you don't have to because I can only imagine the food tastes just as great to go as it is to sit down. If you are in the area I strongly suggest that you try it at least once and I'm positive you will come back for more. I recommend getting either the Stan's Stack or if you are really hungry the Max's Muffoletta which is my favorite because I'm from where the sandwich originated Louisiana.

  • Robby P.

Love the food here. Their Reuben is astounding. The only thing keeping this from being five stars is that their dining is a little on the pricey side, but not so much that it isn't worth it. Pick up some bad to take home; that's where the price and value are perfectly matched!

Pleasant patio lunch last week with four friends. I had baked potato chips this time, that I don't recommend over regular chips. Salmon special sandwich was good. Will order it again next Friday when I eat at Oracle location.

Every time I come here, I will try to eat something different, but for some reason I'll end up choosing my go-to sandwich - Brad's Beef! Why? It has lots of layers of meaty hot Angus roasted beef, melted provolone cheese, and green chile (not spicy). Trust me - you can never go wrong with this hot sandwich!

Beyond bread is my favorite place to eat in any category!!!!!!!! Order your sandwich on a daily bread!!!!!!!! Many of the default breads are too hard or hard to eat. I've never had a bad meal at beyond bread, if you have, you're doing it wrong and/or have bad taste. Fresh ingredients, ample portions and great execution make this a place you can count on year after year. If you've had a bad experience here, message me and I will let you know what you did wrong ;)

  • K S.

Great food, the pasta salad is amazing, and the place itself is cool. The place had one menu and no real signs for food orders so it was a bit weird. Also the supposedly deliver but i live about 2 minutes away and appearently its too far. Pasta salad alone I'd give them 5stars. I think baggins and cheba hut have left me with better experiences.

  • Kari B.

Sigh...I just love this place. Where does one begin? Their staff is always friendly and it is always clean (being in food service myself, these are the things I always notice). Now, some of the sandwiches may seem a tad pricey, but since I can make 3-4 meals out of the Max's Muffalata, I'm cool with it. The pasta salad is delish (I don't usually order pasta salad from a restaurant as they tend to put 75,000 gallons of mayo in it...ugh). Pay attention to the little tooth next to the menu selections....some of the bread is hard, but you can switch it for something else. And they have wine and beer!!!! Who wouldn't want to wash down a tasty sandwich with some Tucson Blonde? I just wish they delivered....not because I live far from the Campbell location...just because I'm lazy.

I want to commend Beyond Bread for being the only place I've seen so far in Tucson that notices the fact that there are Jews living here, and Jews celebrate Hannukah, that there exist people in the world who want decorations beyond those of Christmas. Their delightful Hannukah cookies made me smile, in a world that's forgotten there are people who are NOT Christian. Every week they serve up a fluffy light and GIANT-sized challah, that I notice is purchased by many non-Jews because it's dang good bread. This is not a restaurant - anyone complaining about the 'service' must be easily confused. I only get take-out there, order sandwiches in advance, park in take-out parking spots, and run out usually within a minute! Very quick. Call your order in in advance - they tell you how long it will take! I get the Gordy's Gorgonzola - I am not a fan of deli meat, sandwiches are of no interest to me, but this - this is something else, melts in my mouth, then I melt! Lastly, I have to sing this bakery's praises over their marble rye, baked/sold only on Tuesdays - it is the only good rye bread in Tucson, and it truly is worthy. Beyond Bread gives away its mission in its name - it aims to do more than just bake the best bread in town. Sure, they bake wonderful bread - this is the primary aim. And they do one better, they make amazing sandwiches. I have to say, the staff are always friendly and helpful - for a bakery/sandwich joint, Beyond Bread takes the cake!

I came here for lunch my first visit and made the mistake of expecting something fast. From what I know now, the average wait time is between 5-10 minutes, so plan accordingly. You step up into an open area and wait to be flagged over by one of the cashiers. They are very friendly and gave great recommendations for our party. I ordered the Reuben and pasta salad side. It did take a bit longer than 10 minutes to receive my food, but I was told it was because I ordered a hot sandwich. Everyone else had their food within 10 minutes. The Reuben was amazing. There's only a few other places I've tried that can make a Reuben this good, and none of them are in Tucson. The flavor was mild in comparison, but the ratio of meat to sauce was perfect. The pasta salad left me wanting more. It seemed they had too many dried tomatoes, and I found myself picking them out of the bowl. Overall, it was a good experience.

I do enjoy this place every time I am down in Tucson because it is faster and cheaper than other options and they have a very wide selection of sandwiches . The portions are quite large for the price of $8 you can get a sandwich for two meals worth and a side. I have gotten the Avi's Avo which has a delicious ciabatta bread as a foundation but the insides tend to lack flavor. It is overall quite light besides the bread. The Reuben is something you would get when you are very hungry as all I could see and taste was meat when biting into that sandwich. I also like the curry pita which has well complemented flavors especially with the raisins. The soups are mediocre and a bit salty for my taste, but what isn't nowadays. If you order in the service is quite fast and there is free bread at the front as always. I would definitely recommend this place over paradise bakery if you are close by.

Incredible food, sandwiches, bread, desserts. My favorite is Bart's bag sandwich and a soft pretzel. Bart's Bag. Turkey, brie, lettuce, tomato, red onion, honey ... $5.50. $8.75 They have many locations and everyone of them has nice, friendly service and incredible tasting food with great consistency and quality. Easy parking. One of my favorite places to eat when I visit Tucson. I wish they had one in San Diego.

Decided to change up my normal order. Went for a mady's madness (I think). Called ahead and was ready when I walked in. I definitely enjoyed the chicken and bacon. No complaints. Plus, they have front door parking for take out. Still a favorite go to.

We have been going to this Beyond Bread from about ten years and recently it has gone way downhill. On our recent visit the side of pasta salad was so old it tasted moldy and the pasta had turned in to a mushy overcooked vinegary mess, they had ripped one of the pieces of bread and instead of remaking the sandwich they flipped it upside down to hide the ripped in half bread so everything was falling out of the sandwich, there was a hair on one of our sandwiches that wasn't ours, and the side salads were a wilty mess with a side of vinaigrette that had been sitting for so long it was separated and like jello. Just nasty. They charge way to much to have quality like this. This place must be under new management because they have never been this bad before.

Took my family for lunch while touring at UofA. The food was absolutely delicious. Had the butternut and chicken tortilla soups which were both very good, several different sandwiches a chicken with pesto and turkey with bacon, which were both excellent. The breads were fabulous! Sandwiches are large. Be ready to unhinge your jaw like a snake to take a bite.

Beyond Bread is a CARBivore's dream come true. The sandwich options are endless. The menu is quite large for a sandwich shop; in addition to like 20 hot/cold sammy's, they have enormous entree salads, soups and wraps. And did I mention their home-made pastries? Their fruit tart is a real treat. My favorite one in town. A nice touch is the bread station with bite size samples of bread and butter that keeps hungry customers under control when the lunch line starts to wrap around the building. Beyond Bread is truly a Tucson favorite and I can see why. The food is good, the service is fast, it's locally owned, their bread is fresh, and their pastries a pure decadence. You really can't go wrong at BB. A note to those who have not been to BB: Their portions are enormous, so I recommend sharing. Their bread can be a little hard sometimes, so be careful!(although, they are smart and kind enough to point out the hard breads on their menu with little pictures).

My favorite place to grab sandwiches! I loveeee the fact that they have bread up-front to test out- I always grab a piece while I'm waiting on my order. The best thing I've had was their Zoe Zinger (only available on Mondays and the sole reason I look forward to Mondays) and their Charlie's Chicken. I also love their "Gobble Me Up" salad. Also, let's not forget about their sweets. I LOVE THEIR SCONES SOOOO MUCH. I had the cranberry as well as the almond scone and that alone is enough of a reason to stop by here. The solid stuff: Molly's Crisis, Avi's Avo, and Annie's Addiction. Their cakes are solid but not anything special. The "meh" stuff: Rudy's Ruben

Kudos for locales that cater to us mobile office types. While we obviously represent a big part of the clientele, it's always nice to be treated with respect and accommodated while we set up shop at a lunch table and WiFi our lives away. Prior to the laptop/smart phone/computer overlord revolution, businesses could generally anticipate the average customer to leave within an hour, but no longer. We who are Too Snooty For The Office demand our iced tea refills for the better part of an afternoon nowdays. Not to overlook the food: I LOVED the rustic bread... God, what I wouldn't give for some quality breads in Albuquerque. My tuna salad-salad (forget what it was called) was fresh and huge, totally filling, in fact it got me through a long day of laptopping. The ranch dressing was mellow and complimented the overall cool vibe of the greens, cucumber and assorted veggies. The menu was enormous and tempting enough to explore again and again, especially with those breads--did I mention how great they were? Clean, spacious space, pretty easy to navigate even during the lunch rush. People really bum rush this place so it's best to get here a little early and claim a table. We were lucky to find a table that was emptying just after we ordered, and even then someone else borrowed our unused chairs.

Well, it's been awhile since we went to Beyond Bread but my husband dropped by to pick up sandwiches and a cake for my son's birthday. He got our sandwiches to-go. He picked me out a veggie sandwich (maybe an Annie's Addiction?). It was fresh, the filling was plentiful and good. The boys had a Gordy's Gorgonzola which they remarked "needs Au Jus". Later we cut the full-sized Oreo Cheesecake for my son's birthday festivities. It was huge, heavy & expensive. It probably weighed 8 pounds, no kidding. We paid about $30 for it. While it was impressive looking topped with a few berries for a pretty garnish, it was little more than "white" tasting. Heavy & sweet, it lacked the character I was hoping for. Even the kids left their slices unfinished. My husband turned to me after all of us had finished eating, shrugged and said: "Maybe they aren't as good as I remembered." I still like Amelia Grey's better.

Simply the best sandwich fast casual restaurant in Arizona, period. So many great options and you really can't go wrong. My favorites are the Gino's Grinder, Pauly's Pesto, Brad's Beef, the Reuben, and Rex Revenge. All bread is freshly baked there and ingredients are high quality. I eat here at least once a week. You won't find a better sandwich deli themed restraunt. The only criticism is the horrible big band Muzak but that is easily overlooked once you start eating the delicious food.

This place was like Panera/Paradise on drugs. In the best way possible. I finally decided to try Beyond Bread when I got lured onto Campbell for another reason (I try to avoid Campbell at all costs). I am very happy that I got stuck on that road today. I walked in and was slightly overwhelmed with the amount of people-it was PACKED. It did make me think that something has to be good here if all of these people are packing in to these tables. My sandwich and soup did not disappoint. I got the Saturday special-A reuben on an everything pretzel roll. I am 100% sure that this delectable bread has changed my life. The sandwich was good but this bread blew my mind. I also really liked the soup but...again....that bread! I can't wait to go back and try all of the other goodies on their menu and to sample their desserts. I salivated over them while waiting to order-each one looked better than the last.

My fiance and I have been going to this Beyond Bread from almost 5 years and recently it has gone downhill. We always call in for "Pick-Up" orders, but lately our sandwiches have been slopped together. Three orders ago, I asked for extra tomatoes and when I got home, the sandwich was literally 90% tomatoes. I think I counted 16 slices of tomatoes! In the past, I have worked in the food industry, and putting that many tomatoes on while robbing a loyal customer out of the rest of the sandwich's ingredients is simply intentional interference. I even called the store manager to bring it to her attention, but she just said, "I'm sorry about that". Sorry doesn't make my $13 worth of tomatoes turn into the sandwich I originally ordered. But, I still gave them a chance. The next time, I requested extra red onion and the SAME thing happened! Really?! On our most recent and LAST order, I learned NOT to ask for anything extra, in fear they might sabotage my food, yet again. But I did ask for the dressing on the sandwich to be on the side. When I picked it up, I asked the person who sold it to me if the dressing was in the either taped or stapled bag and she said, "Yeah, it's in there." I went home to grub, and what do you think happened? NO DRESSING in the bag ANYWHERE! Needless to say, I was furious! At that point, I threw it in the trash and walked to Baggin's for a deliciously perfect "Unforgettable" sandwich. What is the point of calling in food if I can't trust Beyond Bread's staff to make it as I order it? Do I really need to waist more of my time to open up my bag and sandwich to double check the work that a QC should be in charge of? This is absurd and the quality at the Campbell location is awful. I suggest if they want to keep their remaining customers, they step things up majorly. Although, even if they do, I will never go to this location again. They charge way to much for the poor standards they serve.

I love the Betty's Brie. With all of my heart. Delicious, fresh baked bread with mayo, tomatoes, roast beef and brie cheese. YUM! And this bread with walnuts and cranberries...I love toasting it with a teensy amount of cream cheese! The only reason for the four stars instead of five is that the staff can be a little rude if you call an order in for pick up. But, amazing sandwiches! Amazing soups! And really delicious fresh-baked goods!

Beyond Bread. I love you, I really do. Your maya's market sandwich is one the best things I've eaten since I got to tucson. My friend had your chocolate babka and we ate half of it before the meal. But, the other day I picked up a loaf of bread and instead of rustic, you gave me rye. I bit into it and was sadly disappointed. And unfortunately it didn't fit the purpose i had originally intended for it. I will still be back, but i will be inspecting my loaves for correctness next time around.

I have not yet tried the food at Beyond Bread but I am finding this location to be a very pleasant place to get some work done on my computer. Coffee is fine and reasonably priced and I'm really digging their "Decaf Desert Rose" iced tea. Atmosphere is relaxed, lots of seating options and I'm thinking this may be a perfect spot for my book club to meet in the future. There don't seem to be many people studying or working here and must be just a bit too far out for the students -- I'm the only person with a laptop out -- which is pretty nice. There is wi-fi, not the fastest but easy to connect. Since it's pretty quiet during the day I'm not feeling rushed or pressured to give up my seat. I've only found one outlet so far but it is conveniently located between two tables near the front door. This place is just my speed: not an icky national chain AND not an overpriced, overly precious indie coffee shop.

Love this place been eating here since I moved to Tucson in 2004. I have since moved back to phx but every time I'm back in Tucson this is a must stop for me. Sandwiches are all amazing and the tomato soup in the bread bowl is also divine. I wish they would expand to phx.

I have continued to frequent Beyond Bread over the years and while the food has always been great today I tried the special - Sancho's Sonoran - and it was awesome! I stick to Joel's Jolt or Bart's Bag because they're soooo tasty but today was a day to try new things. The Sonoran had soft and chewy tellera bread which was perfect for the chicken, havarti and salsa fresca. I wish they'd put this on the regular menu. Then we also tried Stan's Stack and I was impressed! I guess that's what happens when you get stuck always ordering the usual fave :) With sprouts, turkey, red peppers and provolone this sandwich will definitely make it into the rotation.

Beyond Bread is a local chain bakery that simply puts together good, tasty sandwiches on bread made that day. The Campbell location is nicely situated central to the town, and has plenty of open seating. Good for breakfast when things are being newly baked, lunch for a quick bite, or even as a small dinner. And lest you worry that their bread is stale leftovers, or that they go to waste, BB donates the leftover loaves to local charities.

Enjoyed a hearty salad recently. I don't have any complaints about Beyond Bread, it's just never a set destination for me, just someplace I may pop in to from time to time if in the neighborhood. Service is always good, food is consistent, prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Desserts are my wife's favorite!

The sandwiches here are HUGE. It's great because for a filling meal all I really need is a half sandwich here so I get away with a lunch under $6 usually. They've got a great variety and everything is always fresh and service is very consistent. The only negative, and this is super personal, is that they look like a big national chain! Why they don't have a more local look or personality always bugs me since they are a Tucson Original, they should flaunt their originality a little more!

Love! Great sandwiches and sides! Only had lunch here but it was deeeeeelish! My only -star is I have occasionally encountered hard as a rock bread and some of the staff just assume you know the drill with ordering, any questions are met with a sigh and curt answer. I know they're busy but I'm not an idiot, just new to the restaurant's option-filled menu. Otherwise, the restaurant is sparkling, their outdoor seating area is always swept and clean, and the employees seem to be at ease and smiling. The sandwiches are creative and tasty and the visible kitchen area looks clean and tidy. **I was there one evening and saw a man loading hefty bag after hefty bag of their leftover bread to be used in a local feed the needy program. I think that's note-worthy as so many restaurants, by choice or due to local regulations, discard their excess in the dumpster.

true to beyond bread's standards each location has continued its tradition of fast friendly and fresh experience. The selection of sandwiches may seem overwhelming at first but each sandwich can be customized to each person Maddie's Madness On Ciabatta !!!! the wife prefers Paulie's Pesto Breakfast and lunch are great!!

I'm feeling discouraged about coming here these days, even though my family has eaten at Beyond Bread since they first opened. My daughter eats a vegan diet and likes to order a custom sandwich. She used to order the Plain Jane and then add the vegetables she likes, but we found that it was costing upwards of $11 or $12 for this combination of bread, vegetables and condiments, which seems completely unreasonable to me, especially since the sandwiches that my son and I order (also veggie-only but with cheese) are always more in the $8 range. At one point, we took our quandary to one of the owners to get their suggestion for a way to make what my daughter wanted that wasn't so expensive. They suggested that she order the Maya's Market, which is normally $7.75, but with substitutions/omissions, since it is the closest thing on their menu that resembles what my daughter likes. Well, we've been following their suggestion but it still seems to come out pretty high -- usually in the $9 to $10 range and, yes, it's different EVERY time we come, even though she always orders the same thing, because each cashier seems to have a different understanding of how to charge for substitutions. It is a regular occurrence for a manager to be called over to assit the cashier helping us when ordering my daughter's sandwich. This happens regardless of which location we go to, too. Sadly, this experience has reached the level of drudgery and a hassle and certainly brings a lot of ironic tension to the concept of going to a restaurant to relax and have someone else do the cooking/preparation. Tonight, it even resulted in an argument between my daughter and I because the guy kept getting the order wrong and I finally reached my breaking point. Just way too much explaining is necessary. Every single time. Between the high price of my daughter's vegetable sandwich and the lengthy, complicated ordering process, I am not feeling good about coming here as often as we have in the past.

Each time I've eaten here I've left satisfied. Love the outdoor seating--always a plus with the gorgeous weather we get here! Not much to say that hasn't already been said. Suffice to say the sandwiches are fresh, and freshly made. The salads are tasty, and the desert options are way too tempting (I've resisted so far so can't comment on how they taste!).

Yummy sandwiches on the most awesome bread on the planet. If and when you are going to have carbs this is the place to do it. Every time I'm in Tucson I have to stop and have my Avi's Avo. I intensely dislike crowded places and lines, so Beyond Bread is not my favorite of choices after 5pm or on weekends. That said however, the food and selection is worth the effort and crowds. I've only been to this location once but the Sunday bread bowl with chicken and dumpling was a fantastic mix, a soup worthy of a rainy day and devoured by a fresh bread bowl. At under 6 bucks this was a good deal. My eating companion had some kind of a Thanksgiving type sandwich, cranberry and I believe turkey. It was humongous. I was in awe of how big his sandwich was! I immediately realized this is the kind of place you eat half the sandwich and then have dinner or lunch for the next day ready with a takeout wrapper. And it came with the soup of the day for about $8.25. He said there were better sandwiches on the menu however and this one wasn't great. And there is bread. Oh my there is a lot of bread here. The outdoor seating looked a lot more empty, but probably because it was cold and wet outside. And despite it being crowded they had the food out and served very fast. Kudos to Beyond Bread!

I don't know who this "Betty" is, but her roast beef and brie sandwich is one of my favorite things to eat in this world. Whenever I'm in town, I go to Beyond Bread and proceed to inhale this sandwich, along with a bag of their super crispy homemade potato chips. Then, as I'm driving to the airport, I inevitably stop by once more to stock up on loaves of bread like a squirrel getting ready for winter (I'd recommend the challah, which they only sell on Fridays in observance of Shabbat), whilst simultaneously trying to figure out the best way to smuggle home some coleslaw for my dad. I swear, the TSA must think I'm nuts. Beyond Bread management, if you're listening, I need you to either start shipping, or else open a franchise in the Bay Area! Please and thank you.

This was my bread heaven. I wanted to try every bread in the store. The sandwiches here are HUGE and the dessert options are diverse. I ordered a tiramisu and a BLT on a brioche bun. I was able to take it home and eat it for lunch the next day. They also have bread samples in the front to munch on. This is a really large space for big groups. The menu includes sandwiches, soups and salads. Free WIFI too but not a lot of outlets. Service was great.

I hadn't been in here in so so long until I walked in the other night. It really was better than I remembered and I know I'll be returning more often. To start with the bread and butter they have out when you are waiting in line is super tasty. Be careful and exit that area quickly or you'll have eaten enough bread and butter for two meals. I love love love the Maya's Market sandwich. Pesto, havarti and a non hard bread means you really can't go wrong. I tried the Ollie's Original when I was in there and it was good but I really felt I needed a steak knife to eat it it because the baguette was so hard. I realize they point this out on the menu, but really how are you supposed to eat it? I was super excited that they had Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi in the fountain. It's probably not good for me but it meant I could have diet soda with dinner without staying up all night! They were pretty speedy too, so all around a very nice experience.

I love the fresh, healthy options available at Beyond Bread. The biggest perk, to me, is that they use fresh "whole" ingredients (not cheap crap with HFCS, etc.), and its all made fresh daily! They actually designate a store for the "desserts" and for the "bread" and then they deliver to each other locally on a daily basis. Their sandwiches are great and I love their options for sides (salad or pasta salad). I particularly love that the pasta salad is NOT a mayo-based salad (it's oil based, but very light). My only complaint about the sandwiches is that depending on the kind of bread, sometimes its a little much, depending how its cut. Some of it is sandwich-slice-style, but some of it is more of a roll or baguette and the bread can be hard to chew and overwhelm the sandwich. No big deal - just customize your bread to be what you want! The desserts are good, but I've found that they're often not as good as they look. I don't know why this is, given that they're fresh and homemade!?! But I know I've been disappointed a few times by getting something that looks AMAZEBALLS and finding that its just so-so. Stick to what they do best - their sandwiches!!!

Add to my favorites the Joels Jolt and the Ernie's Everything Reuben. The Ernies has become a new obsession in our house. Flavorful cornbeef and crunchy coleslaw with lots of sauce. The texture and the favor keeps us coming back for more. Plus, they are pretty cool about substitutions so you can always make a sandwhich 'new' by changing things up (they have soo many options to work with).

I'd been here a few years ago when I lived in Tucson for school and remember liking it but the prices were way too high. Now that I'm not a totally poor student they seem a little more reasonable, but still a bit overpriced for what you get. You walk in and take your own menu and there are samples of bread. Doesn't seem too sanitary just piled in like that with the butter sitting out but I tried a slice anyway while I waited for my order. The people taking orders seemed pretty impatient - you stand there and look ever the menu with all the cashiers calling out "I can take the next person!" when it's obvious that you're not ready to order. Slow your roll, Chache - I'll come to you when I'm ready. I ordered the Colette's Cordon Bleu (chicken, ham, Swiss, honey mustard on White) which is nearly $9 with tax and doesn't come with a drink - just the normal size sandwich and a small bag of chips. They charge you extra if you want something besides potato chips so I got the soup of the day for another $1 and it's less than 16 oz. The sandwich was pretty tasty but wasn't this extraordinary thing that would get me to come back. I couldn't taste the Swiss at all - a single slice on a sandwich doesn't really yield a lot of flavour, especially when paired with a strong mustard. The soup, however - a chicken and dumplings with a strong herb taste - was awesome. Wish I had gotten more for the price I was paying. I also got dessert because they all looked very well made and pretty. I got a vanilla fruit tart which is fresh fruit with vanilla custard in a sort of short bread cup. It was really good but worth $5? Not sure. Also went for the Death by Chocolate cookie which looked really good but turned out to have pecans inside (which was not stated on the sign or visible outside of the cookie) so I couldn't eat it, besides it being really hard and crumbly. There really should be some kind of indication of nuts for those who are allergic or just don't like them and they need to lessen their baking time so you don't get a concrete cookie. I should have gone with the raspberry bar. Note: they don't take Discover card, for whatever reason. Overall, a decent lunch but definitely a one-time deal.

I went here on a recommendation for lunch. I walked in and the place was really really busy. I grabbed a menu, took one look at the special (the Ruben), and glanced at the other items. I knew I was meant to have the Ruben. The lady at the counter was really nice and took my order perfectly. I sat down at a community table and waited for my sandwich. It arrived promptly and was nice and hot. I took one bite and was in Ruben heaven. Everything about the sandwich was perfect. The pretzel roll was AMAZING. I can't wait to go back and try something else.

I I like Beyond Bread. I don't love it, but I like it. The bread is generally tasty, but the crust is a force to be reckoned with. Put away your dentures because you need the jaws of death to get through the exoskeleton on their baguette. After using your back teeth to gnaw through the bread, and rubbing the roof of your mouth raw, you may consider ordering the ciabatta on your next visit. I frequently order the green chili corn chowder & the Catch of the Sea. Although I've probably eaten every sandwich on the menu, I don't have a favorite. Brad's Beef and Maya's Market are good standbys. The ingredients are fresh and the service is speedy, but I fear the effects of crusty bread on my mandible. Masticate here at your own risk, but do yourself a favor and invest in dental insurance.

Best bread in Tucson. If you order a whole sandwich, rather than a half, you'd best be hungry. The sandwich is huge. The best iced tea and all you can drink! Love their chocolate chip cookie and lemon bar. I like to place an order early and pickup on my way to work. Very nice staff.

Well it had been years since I had been to BB as I lived in California. So I just remembered BB tonight and went back. I was tempted to try something different but I remembered my go to was Max's Muffaletta. While in California I had access to similar establishments: Panera bread, it was good but I still said to myself.. I miss the muff, and BB is great too ;P So I went to BB and ordered my muff and I thought: 9 bucks for a sandwich? I hope my memory is right and it's worth it. So here comes the muff to my table and my response was this: Before muff: -_- After muff: O_O I realized I'd have to unhinge my jaw just to bite it like the wise snake and I was instantly satisfied with the price. But then I was like but is it as good as I remember? .. It was better O_O It wasn't too olive flavored, too artichoke flavored, too oily, too sour, too salty. It was really balanced and flavorful. It's almost like realizing you do love someone after a break up. I missed your muff BB, Panera was just because I was lonely, I swear.

Overall a great place. The bread is delicious as are any of the soups or sandwiches. The desserts are phenomenal. A trendy spot for business lunches and a popular college destination for a hangover cure. Beat the lunch rush by showing up a few minutes early and have a designated table protector so you wont have to stand and eat.

This place has so many choices.....I'm always the last to order (stand in line and place your order at the counter) because I can never decide. The sandwich I've gotten the most times is Avi's Avo, which has turkey, avocado, cucumber, mayo and alfalfa sprouts on ciabatta bread. I've also had Bart's Bag, which is turkey with brie, lettuce, tomato, onion with honey mustard & mayo on a baguette. Lastly, I've tried Rex's Revenge, which is sliced chicken, parmesan cheese, lettuce, caesar dressing on Focaccia bread. ALL OF THESE ARE VERY GOOD !! Their breads are AWESOME !! They have some interesting soups, too, and while I've tried it once or twice, I've spent more time in Tucson during the summer heat than any other time of year, so soup doesn't appeal to me then. Their bakery items look amazing, but I am either too full after my sandwich, or I just can't make up my mind. Both my daughters attended college in Tucson, and for all the years there between the 2 of them, we had to go to Beyond Bread every time I came to town. I really love this place, but my daughters have since graduated, and I honestly don't know when I'll be back. Well, if I'm ever in Tucson again, I will DEFINITELY go here. No doubt in my mind !!

If you haven't been to Beyond Bread, you are missing a great experience. The environment at this location is casual and fun, plenty of space for groups and flyers are always posted for local events, etc. More than that, though, is the food. Free slices are always available while you wait to order, and several items on the menu are top-notch. I love the challah bread french toast and chocolate croissants. The mac and cheese is also great. Sandwich portions are generous, but my only complaint is that I have yet to find a vegetarian sandwich that I love. I find the Maya's Market just so-so, and when I ordered the Ollie's Original it came with waaaay more feta than is ever necessary on a sandwich. I will definitely keep coming back, though, if only for the french toast and the great Peruvian coffee.

I came here for the first time with a few friends, since everyone I know says it's delicious and much better than Paradise. It was packed on weekend afternoon. The selection of sandwiches was more than I could ask for...I decided on a whole Avi's Avo because recently I've been obsessed with avocado and sprouts. The ciabatta bread was a little tough and hurt my mouth but overall the sandwich was delicious. I think my friends didn't like theirs as much though :/ Will probably be back

I went there this morning for some breakfast and I was very impressed! We have family in Tucson and they recommend Beyond Bread so we checked it out. I had the Go Greek omelette but I wasn't a very big fan, the olive paste over powered the whole thing. Otherwise, the toast was amazing and you can choose from a whole wall of breads! Their pastries look delicious and I will be coming back!

Sometimes all it takes is one visit to a business... one visit and you just know you're a fan. This is how it was for me at Beyond Bread... One visit and I'm sold! Friend and fellow yelper Allyson B (actually Allyson L but she hasn't changed it on Yelp yet), suggested Beyond Bread when I told her I was looking for a lunch spot during my visit to Tucson on Friday. I used my handy dandy Yelp app to find my way to this location, and it was love at first bite... first bite into the extremely hearty and fresh multi-grain bread that I requested with my custom salad. Basically, it was the Avi's Avo sandwich transformed into a salad with multi-grain bread slices on the side, and boy did it hit the spot! Fresh turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato, cucumber... healthy, delicious, and filling - just the way i like it! I admired the selection of sweet treats in the pastry case but I decided to wait until next visit to splurge on one of those. I also noticed their catering menu, specifically the pretzel bread sandwich that feeds an entire party... I wonder if they deliver to Phoenix? Or perhaps I'll have to plan a party in Tucson just to have an excuse to order one of those!

Beyond Bread is clearly at or near the top of sandwich style places in Tucson. The sandwiches are large, come on an endless variety of breads, and garnishes. The salads are large (my wife and I often buy what we call the "Anger" management salad"(actually Angus Management) and split one portion for the two of us. The deserts, cookies and pastries are terrific as well. Suprise your friends and order Chad's Choice on Chiabata (not actually on the menu anymore), but a great chicken sandwich with green chili. The soups, in or out of a bread bowl, are excellent. Here's a tip: lunch time crowds are sometimes prohibitive. Instead, come for dinner. Same food, and a smaller crowd. Our favorite time is 5:30 on Sunday. "Our table," a high table in the corner is always available at that time. The daily specials, like the Saturday trophy winning Reuben or the Friday Bubka are really great. Someone got it right with their business plan.

They earned back another star! We went back a month later and sat in the same booth for the same meeting and our sandwich was cut in half, pasta salad not frozen and the light bulbs had been replaced! Yay! Why not five stars? While the sandwich runners are courteous and quick to remove and empty dish or basket from a table, they seem to lack the ability to actually wipe the tables down. Having worked at a deli, I find this to be annoying, especially when I have to flag someone down or ask for a rag to do it myself.

Beyond Bread has been one of my favorite places to go to since I have been in Tucson. They not only have a variety of sandwiches to choose from but soups, salads, an array of desserts and fresh breads. I typically get the Bart's Bag but change to the rustic bread because the baguette is a harder bread. My absolute favorite from beyond bread though has to be their chocolate babka! It is AMAZING but is only made on Fridays! It is similar to Challah bread but has chocolate, brown sugar, cinnamon, almonds and pecans mixed it. Heat a slice of this up in the mornings in your oven or toaster with a cup of tea or coffee and it makes for a perfect breakfast!

We were looking for a place for a late breakfast after checking out of a nearby resort hotel. This was convenient and it looked interesting from the outside. We had seen it during our travels during our week in the area. It's soups, sandwiches, breakfast items and pastries. You order at the counter and pay for your food and it is delivered to your table. The system works well enough. I had their special sandwich of the day - Reuben with cole slaw and a special dressing on pretzel bread. I also had a cup of chicken tortilla soup. I thought it was a terrific lunch. The sandwich was huge with a thick portion of very good corned beef. The soup was very tasty and loaded with chicken. My wife had French Toast and she was very happy. She had a nice big, 3-slice portion. It was a nice raisin bread and dusted with powdered sugar. It's a very busy and happy place. All kinds of people make up their clientele - young/old, retired/business people, vacationers, young kids, runners, bikers, housewives, etc. My Reuben was so big that I could only eat half of it. It was $7.95 and the soup was just $1 as a side dish. We liked the food and the prices were very reasonable and the staff was friendly and helpful! Jim

I really dig Beyond Bread. Whenever I go to Tucson this is one place I cannot pass up. I really love "Joe's Jolt" on either their Jalapeno or Parmesan bread. It is seriously one of the best sandwiches I can think of in Arizona - served in a restaurant. This place is a must try if you are in the Tucson area. The sandwiches taste awesome and the bread is excellent. One thing I tell others when I take them here is that a lot of the sandwiches they serve, for whatever reason, are served on hard-crunchy type hoagie style rolls. I personally prefer their artisan breads, some of the best around in my opinion, so make sure if you want soft-chewy awesome tasty bread to pick your own from the display behind the counter when ordering.

  • Aishan S.

It's a nice place, and they have a lot of variety. I unfortunately picked something that was served in pita rather than their own bread, so I was a little disappointed. I will definitely have to return another time and try out a sandwich on real bread.

  • Imran G.

If this place was just a bakery, it'd be a 5-star, easily. My boss would always bring Beyond Bread to nibble on during meetings and boy, would that bread disappear fast. The bread is definitely worth a try. The reason I gave this place a 3-star is because the restaurant is huge failure. I had a tomato basil soup bread boule. I threw it away after one bite. The sandwich? Meat was extremely dry and cheese was stale. There is nothing beyond the bread here.

Great selections with a variety to suit many tastes. I probably took more time to decide on a sandwich than it took for my order to be brought to my table. We were 4 for lunch & all loved our choices (no need to specify I'm thinking they R all equally good). Open and clean dining area, but NOT loud ~ I hate yelling at my table mates. Courteous people work here, pleasant and helpful without rushing me or being too friendly. We had NO ROOM 4 dessert (I took 1/2 of my sandwich home), this was one disappointment. The dessert/sweet case looked so good. I picked moderate for cost, if you were to Splurge. But this is on the LOW end of moderate, maybe $11.00 with dessert & drink. I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Cant say enough good things about this pastry and sandwich restaurant. The bread is so delicious and fresh and I really enjoy being able to snack on some fresh samples while trying to decide what to get. On Fridays and Sundays they make a special cranberry and walnut loaf that can have your meal prepared with thats super yummy. If baked goods are you thing this place is worth the try.

Had the everything reuben today, and let's just say everything changed about how I feel about their sandwiches. Good golly the bread is on another level in this one not sure if it's pretzel or bagel bread but its thick wholesome a bit greasy but so good you wanna kiss it. The insides are the same as before I'll still say they're not the best but even for a bakery the bread will wow you. Same gripes at nine dollars it's still too much but at least this time I left full so I can justify the dinner-like pricing. Definitely recommend this place and sandwich on a saturday all other days come for the great coffee good cafe atmosphere and chocolate chip cookies that turn you into a human cookie monster.

  • Lynn B.

Everyone has their favorites, all the sandwiches I've tried have been good, Pauly's Pesto is the only name I remember, but no matter which sandwich you get, order it with a side of their amazing pasta salad. Soup bread bowls were disappointing for a bread company. Desserts are all solid. Order at the counter, large dining room, cafe style. Plenty of outdoor seating available on a covered patio.

We stopped into this place after going to Arizona Nature Aquatics (one of Arizona's best fish stores) across the street. They have a lot of options for sandwiches so everyone is sure to find something they like and what I got was fantastic. The sandwiches are big, filling and fairly priced. Before we left we picked up a giant pretzel to go and snacked on it all the way back to Phoenix.

Yeah, I have been holding out on reviewing Beyond Bread because _every_ Yelper has to put their two pennies in, but here goes! Expect to gain weight upon opening the door and taking your first inhalation. The sandwiches (hot and cold), the soups, the _desserts_ and especially the bread. No matter which location you frequent, all the Beyond Breads entice you to partake, so please don't fool yourself into thinking it is going to be an espresso-and-laptop kind of afternoon here. No way. You will eat. Be ready to part with a little of your cash too. You get what you pay for, though......upscale soups and sandwiches. And on my favorites days (Tues. and Thurs) they bake jalapeno bread. Numma.... Fresh Challah bread made on Saturdays.......hollah!! The Campbell location is uber crowded with UofA peeps at lunchtime, and the Eastside location is also lunch-packed with local workers on their break, so if you are not a large-crowd person, avoid these locations at that time. The Ina location is similarly uber-crowded at breakfast, so I give you similar advice for this place, at a different time. I am not a crowdie lover, so I like to frequent Beyond Bread in the late afternoon between 3-5 pm; the crowds are gone and I almost feel like I have the place to myself. And my food arrives more quickly. The crowds are the reason for the 4 stars, otherwise Beyond Bread would be a 5 outright. Try the Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich (replete with cranberry sauce) or my go-to.....Molly's Crisis.....cold turkey with hummus and sprouts, cucumber and little mayo. Visitors to Tucson need to try out Beyond Bread at least once while they are in town. The Regulars already know this is the place to go for a deeelish breakfast and especially the lunch-o-rama party in the mouth. Bring friends. Speak quietly.

When I'm in Tucson this is always my go to place for a great sandwich or a salad. I love their tuna sandwich. It is always a good choice. I also like the tomato soup. Not as good as my own but pretty darn close. My new favorite which I have been thinking about is Larry Moe and Curry. SOOO good and HUGE. Enough for 2 people or 2 meals. I can not wait to get back down there to have this again. Good thing the kid is going to UofA so I should have lots of opportunity to eat this one.

This place absolutely shames places like Panera or Corner Bakery or any other chain that focuses on soups, sandwiches and baked goods. I only ate here once while in Tucson but it made a lasting impression on me. The bread on my sandwich- Chad's Choice- was perfect. Coupled with fresh sprouts, a piping hot chicken breast and smothered with a gooey cheese and some delicious green chiles, this sandwich was awesome. Really, I can't say much more than that about this place. Check them out for all varieties of sandwiches, baked goods and soups. They are worth a try.

Their bread is excellent and they have a huge variety! They also have numerous sandwich options - I've only tried 2-3, but the ones I've had are pretty good (Maya's Market on a torpedo roll is my favorite). Their desserts are beautiful, but I've found them to be somewhat lacking, especially when compared to their appearance. This is a great place for lunch or for your everyday bread needs (yes, I said "needs").

Beyond Bread and I have the greatest love affair of all time. I love sandwiches and soup (and salads for that matter) and Beyond Bread never disappoints. A Tucson staple, everyone must try this place before leaving. Food can be on the expensive side (depending what you get) but portion sizes are so big that you will have dinner for that night or lunch for tomorrow. Any sandwich can be made with any type of bread, not just the one they suggest on their menu. After you are done eating, don't forget to take a loaf of bread or pastries home with you! I promise, you will not regret it. If you are in a hurry, call ahead and your order will be ready for pick up. There can be really long lines sometimes and limited seating, so avoid busy times (Saturday and Sunday mornings/afternoons). Once you try this place, you will keep coming back!!

BEST SANDWICH EVER. I probably crave Beyond Bread more than anything else. The sandwiches are amazing and the overall restaurant concept is better. Warm bread and butter while you wait in line (because yes, you will wait in line) - sign me up! The soup bread bowls are also awesome when you're looking for an alternative. Ooohhh.. and grab a magic bar for desert. What to get? ANYTHING. Particular favorites: Barts Bag - soft wheat, no mayo, add onion, honey mustard baked lays on the side. TO DIE FOR. Avi's Avo - yum. Dab's Delight - a Tuna Melt that will do that... melt your heart. Get the honey mustard to dip it in. There's NO other honey mustard quite like Beyond Bread. Brad's Beef - my husband's favorite hot sandwich. Its delish.

Beyond Bread isn't a bad place to grab a sandwich for lunch. Ironically though, the only thing I have to complain about IS THE BREAD. Every sandwich I have ever had from this place has had rock hard, almost tooth-breaking bread. Maybe its just me or the Gino's Grinders I typically order, but...

There is a reason the line is out the door here at lunch time, it Fantastic! I don't even mind the wait (the line moves quickly anyway) :) I have never once been disappointed with anything I order especially since I can choose from a ton of different breads I want my sandwich on! I definitely recommend this place!

Beyond Bread has really good Bread!!! I know it is crazy with a name like "Beyond Bread". However, you may not realize that they have really good food, coffee and service too. The major drawbacks are how busy they get on occasion, that they advertise that they have Wifi which never seems to function, and if you have AT&T you can't get a signal to save your life.

Love the place but this isn't my favorite location; the Speedway one is! Feel like the service and quality lacks a bit here when compared with the other locations. The most amazingly delicious fresh baked breads.- Most of them being the perfect combination of soft goodness with a crusty outside, mmm. Best sandwiches include Bart's Bag, Fran's Fromage, and Maya's Market. Be sure to check out the pastry selection as well...yum!

So delicious, so tasty! I came here for a late lunch so luckily I didn't have to deal with crazy lines, but it was still packed on the patio. They have a huge selection of sandwiches. I had the Avi's Avo, a turkey-avocado-sprouts sandwich on ciabatta. The ingredients were fresh and the bread was absolutely delicious! I actually would have been just as happy with less turkey-avo so I could taste the bread better. The servings are very generous and appropriate for the price (sandwiches range from $6-9). They have half sandwiches which is great because my leftover half didn't taste as good later when it was a little soggy. I don't know how bad the lines get, but this is a great sandwich place and I'll definitely be back.

The cranberry pecan toast with my omelet was awesome! The service was quick and attentive and the choices of breakfast, sandwiches, and salads pleased our table of four. The coffee was so-so, but hey, it was bottomless and not very expensive.

I love bakeries, and Beyond Bread is the bakery of bakeries. I go to the various locations in Tucons regularly, and I have never had a disappointment. If you're eating in, the sandwiches and soups are spectacular. There are so many items on the menu, I have had a different sandwich, soup or salad every time I've been there. Besides the amazing lunch and dinner items, you can buy breads and pastries to take home. There is a huge selection of bread and cookies made daily, and selected breads are made fresh once per week. My favorite day is Friday, when you can get Challah bread and Chocolate Babka bread fresh and warm at noon. I could eat a whole loaf of chocolate babka bread, which tastes like cinnamon roll texture with chocolate and almonds. Amazing! If you go at lunch time, it might be a bit crowded and noisy, but there is plenty of seating inside and out and the food is worth the wait. You can also sample free slices of bread while you wait to order.

Whenever I visit Beyond Bread, I associate this restaurant with Panera Bread where I used to go for a quick Sunday brunch before heading to the lab to spend the rest of my Sunday with homework and projects. I have been to Beyond Bread for brunch/breakfast, lunch and I have also bought their various kinds of bread and pastry. Beyond bread is always packed during breakfast/brunch hours, especially on a weekend. Lengthy lines are formed, crowds gather around the sample bread stand, signs with ranges of terms are set still on tables throughout the restaurant. Their food and bread are definitely above average but I would not go out of my way to visit Beyond Bread. The restaurant lacks a personality/originality/creativity. I would categorize Beyond Bread as a typical restaurant that you could basically find anywhere you go. For this very reason, I am only giving this restaurant a three-star rating.

Beyond Bread certainly wasn't beyond my expectations; however, I still enjoyed my time here and would give a solid 3.5 stars for my first experience today. I found a nice, halfway-shaded parking place here around 1:30 (today's a Sunday). BB was busy inside-- perhaps 3/4 full-- but it didn't seem overcrowded or like a madhouse of famished Tucsonans as most Sunday lunchtimes provide for. Not having been here before, I was a tad overwhelmed by their extremely extensive menu. I peered over the menu in the open area towards the entrance, then waited in the line for around 10 minutes. I prefer hot sandwiches so this narrowed down my choices to about a dozen or so. I had heard good things about Chad's Choice, but I spotted something even more appealing: Charlie's Chicken- $8.25 (chicken, bacon, sharp cheddar, tomato, red onion, and barbecue sauce on a Torpedo Roll). With the suggestion of the cashier, I substituted the Torpedo roll for the Italian Garlic bread. I just got the Kettle Chips as my included side (boring, I know. I'll know better next time). TIP: If the line is long, or you just can't wait until your food is delivered to your table, delve into the "bread bar" they offer in the line for free. I tried their white-sourdough with the provided butter and it was fantastic! I only waited about 8-10 minutes for my sandwich to arrive at my table. Jumbo in size, it can easily be split! While I really did enjoy the mash-up of flavors (great barbecue sauce complimenting the sandwich), I wish that the meats were given a little more thought. My chicken was a bit dry for my liking, and the bacon was as brittle as the bones of an osteoporosis-stricken 147 year-old. I looked past this and happily finished the sandwich, as it was still good and was piled on delicious bread! Props to the cashier for suggesting that Italian Garlic bread. As aforementioned, I just settled for the standard kettle chips and they were on par with any of the brand-name kettle chips like Lays. I'll go for the pasta salad next time. As I sat at my table, chowing down on Charlie's choice sandwich, my sights were progressively drawn more and more towards the pastry cases. I caved at the end of my meal and decided to try out a few of these. --Oatmeal Raisin Cookie ($1.75): WOW. On par with some of the best I've ever had. I'll definitely go for this one again. 5 stars for this alone. --Chocolate Peanut Butter Bomb ($0.85): Think of a Reese's. Literally. I thought I was eating a better Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. 3 stars. --Russian Tea Cake ($1.40): So disappointed. Granted, I got this by virtue of its appealing appearance..but whoever made these may have let way too much salt slip into the mix. Fun texture and I liked the almond bits, but all I could taste was salt after two bites! 1 star. Final verdict: I'll be back for sure, especially with that menu of theirs and even more pastries to try. Oh, and as their name suggests... Their bread isn't too shabby, either!

After some mild to moderate badgering from a classmate, I finally remembered to try out Beyond Bread. I suppose, once again, expectations can seriously effect your experience of a place. Seeing so many positive reviews and hearing such good things about the place, i can't feel that I may have missed out on something there. I ordered a turkey and avocado sandwich on ciabatta. No, I don't recall the clever name they gave it. And they offered baby carrots as a side (I'm easily amused by novelty like that). The food was made and brought to my table in good order. It certainly looked good. But once I managed to gnaw my way through the crusty roll, the fillings were just "okay". Maybe I was vexedly the seemingly excessive toughness of the ciabatta (my own fault) and maybe I just didn't order a good sandwich for my first time there, but i couldn't help feeling a little let down. On the other hand, the carrots were quite good. So, I'll certainly give it another shot. I'm sure (and by that I mean: I hope) that I just didn't have a good first sandwich. The next one will be better, right?

Beyond Bread has got to be my favorite lunch spot in town, and it doesn't hurt that it's just down the street from my work. They offer sandwiches, breads, granola, salads, soups, DIVINE desserts and it's super wallet-friendly! I usually order Avi's Avo (turkey, avacado, cucumber, sprouts) on white bread, because the ciabatta is a little too tough for me...or if I'm feeling veggie-tastic I'll go for Maya's Market (pesto, tomato, onion, roasted red peppers, havarti cheese). I've also had the Larry Moe and Curry salad (chicken salad on a bed of greens). You pretty much can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The sandwiches are HUGE and come with your choice of kettle chips, baked chips, or for an extra charge you can have pasta salad, soup, or a side salad. FYI-Beware of the dessert case! It may make you drool in public! Cookies, pies, cakes, cannolis, and creme brulee are just a few of the decadent yummies that Beyond Bread has to offer.

Beyond Bread is my favorite restaurant I visited this past weekend on my visit to Tucson. The Pauly's Pesto sandwich was delicious and huge (I'm a big eater and I could only eat half). The bread was fabulous and it was warm, cheesy, and delicious. I really liked my chocolate chip cookie I got with it, although I wouldn't say it was the best cookie I've ever had. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in Tucson!

Ate here for the first time over family weekend. This place was packed, and I heard that its usually like this during weekends so try another day if you hate waiting in lines. I love the Charlie's Chicken sandwhich. I'm a big fan of eating BBQ foods and I liked how fresh it was. The place has a wide variety of sandwhiches and I plan on making return trips to try them all.

Where is the option for 10 stars when you need them! As a graduate of University of Arizona, I joined the Beyond Bread bandwagon my freshman year of college and I've been riding it ever since! Beyond Bread takes to you to another world with some of the best sandwiches in the nation. This is not an exaggeration. The bread is fresh and practically melts in your mouth. The desserts are delectable. The sandwiches and salads are five star quality...and the owners refuse to open locations anywhere outside of Tucson. How about Phoenix? Please, please?? But, going back to Beyond Bread, if you live in Tucson and you've never been you must visit today, right now, before it closes. If you are about to journey to Tucson, plan your travel around visiting one of their locations. You can even call ahead! I like every sandwich on the menu as well as the salads, but my top three sandwiches are: 1. Avi's Avo but ask for it on white bread and add lettuce and tomatoes. 2. Ashley's Albacore 3. Charlie's Chicken ok I'll suggest one more. Paulie's Pesto. As for salads, Catch of the Sea is for me. For dessert, please order a cookie or a Magic Bar. And....before you leave, order a loaf of bread for the week and a loaf of the banana chocolate chip bread for your sweet tooth. Posting this review has just made my mouth water and I think I need to take a trip to Tucson very soon. :)

It's always packed, even for a late lunch, so that says something. Just be prepared to hunt for a table. Anytime we feel like sandwiches, this is one of the top two places in Tucson I think of. Fresh baked bread, plenty of variety, and alliteration. What more could you ask for? Food: 5 stars - something about fresh baked bread that warms my soul. Brad's Beef is awesome. The sandwich. Just be sure to read the menu to find the sandwiches with the hard bread, in case you have fillings or loose teeth. If you have a small stomach, the half portions are perfect. They even have really good desserts, but we are usually too full to get any. Service: 5 stars - They are fairly fast with the sandwiches, even the hot ones, which is more than I can say for Baggins. Ambience: 3.5 stars - my only complaint is the street corner location, the parking lot, and the quest for a table inside.

I think I might be the only one in Tucson who really can't stand this restaurant. There's one thing that you should know before you go there - their basic breads are sour doughs. Since I'm not the biggest fan of sourdough, this place does not rate high for me. A good bakery for me includes a good mix of all kinds of breads, including a standard non-sour french bread. The food here is essentially on par and probably would deserve three stars in any other small city. But, I knock the placed down a star because of its competition. There is really no need for this place to reign supreme when there are such other great places in Tucson (some even nearby). Breads and desserts are better elsewhere, and going to the other places would help support small local businesses. Nothing here was terrible. It's just that nothing here has ever stood out for me. If you're looking for great fresh bread go to La Baguette right up the road. If you're looking for outstanding desserts and wonderful sandwiches, hit up Cafe a la C'Art and/or Caffe Milano downtown. I just don't see the draw I guess.

I have always wondered what the "beyond" part of "beyond bread" meant. Was it another dimension between the hungry and the full? Or perhaps a gateway into a universe built completely by dough? The world may never know. The world will however, know how I feel about this place. My personal favorite is the Brad's Beef which was a great sandwich comprised of roast beef, provolone cheese, green chiles, red onions and dressing. I'm definitely not a fan of veggies in my food but the chiles actually go very well to complement the beef. The bread part of my sandwich was certainly good but it was not "beyond" as advertised. The service here is always fairly quick and the workers have always eagerly awaited my order with smiles. If you're looking to grab a pretty quick bite to eat or are in the mood for sandwiches, be sure to check this place out.

I love the food. It is great and comes out quickly. What I don't love is the service. The cashiers are abrupt and I always feel rushed. Beyond bread seems to think its food and coffee will make up for its lack of training in customer service. Not the case. Additionally, no itemized receipts means you cant see when they missed ringing up something, which has happened several times. Every time I come here I leave with a bad impression.

I have been a few times and havent been disappointed other than when they ran out of loaded baked potato soup(which is amazing, saturdays only) and bread bowls. The restaurant is great with the location being a sort of hassel just because it is on Campbell and is mess during rush hour, but besides the point the food is good. I love all the breads and really I havent been let down by a single sandwich. I usually get rex's revenge just because I feel like i need to eat healthy when I am there plus i always treat myself to one of their delicious fruit tarts as a dessert. I cant say that i love the atmosphere and cleanliness of beyond bread but the food is great.

I miss you so, Beyond Bread!!! Any time I'm ever back in Tucson I have to stop here (even if it's out of my way). I usually eat there and get some to bring back to Scottsdale for a second meal... that's not obsessed, right? My go-to-favorite has always been Bart's Bag: fresh turkey (not deli-style), red onion, romaine, brie cheese, and honey mustard. I order it with no mayo and no tomato. A little extra honey mustard perfects it. Some people think the bread is too hard, but I think it's worth the sore jaw. I get their pasta salad on the side: sun dried tomatoes, peas, and corn in a light dressing. I also like to pick up a loaf or two of fresh bread... last time I bought pistachio-fig bread. Yum! Oh, and for all this fresh food, you can't beat the price... I can get a sizable half sandwich and pasta salad for about $5!! Please-oh-please open a restaurant in the Phoenix area! We need more good sandwiches up here!

If I calculated how much money I have spent at Beyond Bread between my high school and college years, it would probably disgust most people...but I think it was worth every cent. One week did not go by without me eating here at least once. I've tried many sandwiches over the years, but my favorites are: ashlee's albacore, avi's avo, bart's bag, betty's brie, maddy's madness, gordy's gorgonzola, and bob's blt. However, I almost always get them on wheat or rustic because some of their breads are so sharp they will cut your mouth. Oh, and free bread samples with a huge bowl of butter? Don't mind if I do! Also, their desserts are incredible; my favorites are the cookies, fruit tarts, and chocolate croissants. I may or may not have emailed them a year after moving to Chicago asking for them to expand and open a location near me, and I may have been rejected. But I will not give up hope that someday they will change their mind and I can restart by addiction.

  • Danielle B.

Everything I have ever tried here is amazing. I love the BLT and the roast beef with brie. Only downside here is they toast the bread for the BLT on both sides, so the rooftop of your mouth gets scratched up easily. Same with the roast beef, the roll they use is super hard and hard to bite into. Service is fast even though they get really busy during lunch time. Try their creme brulee...awesome!

Best sandwich themed restraunt in Tucson. Absolutely trounces Jimmy Johns, Eegees, and most definitely Subway. So many great sandwiches, overall faves are Maya's Market, Gino's Grinder, Pauly' S Pesto and Brad's Beef. The cookies and breads are all A+. would recommend again and again

One of the Best Sandwhich places of all time. If you don't like Beyond Bread don't read my review you are probably a miserable person and won't like anything so lets not waste our time. I suggest the Avi Avo on a Torpedo Roll, get the pasta salad instead of chips and bring me the leftovers because its a healthy portion

Beyond Bread was the first place my best friend and I went to when we got into Tucson to start our first year of college. After four years, not ONCE did they let me down. My favorite, by far, is Avi's Avo. Its the perfect combination of pure deliciousness that I like on my sandwiches: turkey, avo, cucumber, sprouts, and mayo. It comes on ciabatta bread, but I normally switch it for wheat. Sounds pretty average, but everything is so fresh it melts in your mouth. It gets REALLY busy on the weekends with hungover college kids, so make sure to get there early if you want a seat otherwise you might have to wait a little bit. Love. Love. Love. Please wont you come to Houston? I'm begging.

  • Shana W.

I love coming here!the bread is delicious and the pastries are perfect. It is a little on the expensive side, enough so that, being on a budget, I have to limit my trips there. It is definitely my payday treat, though. Being a college student, I eat my fair share of macaroni and cheese and white Sandwich bread. Sometimes, I just want to have some pasta salad and dread bread. Beyond Bread is absolutely perfect in that regard. Just like home, without the char :)

  • Alison V.

Oh how I miss you....I still get cravings for you sandwiches, even 2 years after I've left town. I know you frequently had long lines but I didn't care. You were worth the wait. The best part is I almost always took a piece of you home with me. Your sandwiches were just so huge that I couldn't finish them in one sitting. And you always had such great daily specials. Why, oh why, did I leave you?

  • Maria G.

I'd heard a lot of good things about this place so I had to try it out. I ordered the Avi's Avo and grabbed a seat. The tables were all disgusting (no one was on table cleaning duty maybe?) and overall the place was packed so after cleaning up our own table and at least a 15 minute wait, we finally got our sandwiches. When it was brought out I was shocked because the sandwich was piled high with fixins. However, the bread was way too tough and really hard to bite into. The sandwich was actually overwhelming! Just not my personal favorite. I will say that I would have gone to buy bread here or desserts though as they looked really good!

    (3)
  • Sara S.

I absolutely love the tomato basil soup here. It comes with a lot of delicious bread too. Three stars because when I've gotten the sandwiches I thought they were meh and I don't think most people come here to get soup. The service is good and the price is alright. An overall decent place for a lunch.

  • Mike M.

This place is really good. They have a sandwiches that would please any palate or any mood. They also have really delicious soups some of which come in bread bowls. My favorite soups are Clam Chowder(Friday) and Chicken Dumpling(Sunday). The clam chowder is really good. They throw in green chiles which I think gives it a great Southwestern flair. This place is a good option for a rainy night or a night when you just want something relaxed and easy.

Great Sandwiches what else can I say. I'm not a huge sandwich person but this place is really really good. Beyond Bread is one of the more successful local businesses in Tucson, people I know who have worked there have great things to say about the owners/management, so I love supporting them with my business!

  • Brian K.

For newcomers, Beyond Bread is something that absolutely must be checked out. It's one of the few successful and unique Tucson restaurants, and thus definitely deserves recognition for making it in a sea of other sandwich places. That said, I think Beyond Bread gets a big pass on a few issues that would otherwise nuke another restaurant. Perhaps it's just because I went to Salpointe, and we would eat a Beyond Bread a lot, not really because it was good, but because it was close, relatively consistent, and decent. Nowadays, I call it "beyond bad" because honestly I'm just tired of the same menu items that were there upwards of 5 years ago dominating. Before you write me off as some hater, here are the reasons: 1. It's always packed, and there isn't enough parking. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, the parking lot is a nightmare. It literally is just chaos. People make their own spaces on the curb next to the planters, the empty bank next door doesn't let anyone park there, the drive-in and drive-out flow is chaotic. 2. All of the sandwiches are boring, lost, or bland to me. I want something simple, like a panini. You'd think that'd be doable right? It's just prosciutto, mozzarella, maybe some lettuce and tomato with a vinaigrette. No such thing. The other items are equally as bland, drab, and boring. Either that, or if you ask for something special during the ridiculous rush hours, you'll be totally served the wrong thing. Good luck getting that fixed, too. 3. What's with the unsanitary bread-butter feeding-hole right as you walk in? I love eating the bread, but it's always a disgusting nightmare that some health inspector somewhere is obviously overlooking. I've seen little kids run around and stick their fingers in their nose and down their pants, and then into the butter pit of doom. Am I the only one noticing how absolutely disgusting that is? I can't do it anymore. 4. The side items; oh the side items. I cannot adequately voice how much I loathe the chips Beyond Bad forces on you. That's right; forces on you. If you thought the sandwiches were bland, wait until you try the baked or regular chips - they're the most tasteless, colorless, stark things I've ever eaten. It's literally like forcing fried cardboard down, and they're hard as hell to boot, tearing up your mouth in case the hard (sometimes stale) bread hasn't. Oh, and if you don't want either variety of chips (two varieties of Beyond Bread branded goodness), you get.. wait for it.. carrots. 5. Outside it mentions coffee as being part of the Beyond bread *thing*. I've never once seen anyone use their espresso machine, order coffee, or drink any coffee there. Yeah, that pretty much says all that you should need to hear to run away. I know a lot of people love Beyond Bread, but honestly, this whole "we're unique and special" bit is kind of retarded. It's busy the whole time, they advertise WiFi but disable it at "peak" times so they can process more people and increase their churn and profits, and everything else is about as bland and soulless as it gets. I love their bread and frequently buy *just* the bread from here, but why anyone would get a relatively generic sandwich here and pay out the arse for it is beyond me. I've been doing it for years now, and last time I swore - never again.

Tasty bread, great looking deserts. Menu was huge - little disappointed by my sandwich. Everything in it was delicious, but I'd like more than just roast beef, brie, and some tomatoes. Those kinds of flavors need to be balanced out. Overall, fun little place - I probably just picked the wrong thing off the menu.

Great sandwiches! Whenever we have company they request beyond bread. The extensive menu will please just about anyone. The breads are always tasty but the crusts can be difficult for some people. If concerned, the staff usually has suggestions for substitute bread.

  • Sergio S.

Beyond amazing! The variety of bread lining their shelves is an awesome sight. I only wish I lived near to appreciate the variety more often. The place blends into a strip-center--much like many new establishments of the modern age. The interior is pretty sleek, not really a place to idle for too long--but perfect for grabbing a sandwich. I went with Gordy's Gorgonzola; it sounded good and it's fun to say. I wasn't expecting too much, as I don't often get too much from sandwich shops, but Gordy packs some powerful flavor. The bread was nice too--all in all well put together. I'm looking forward to sample their sandwich menu more upon my return to Tucson!

YUM. MMY. We ate here way too much during our time in Tucson, which is not a bad thing. The sandwiches are fantastic and huge, and the baked goodies are quite good (sticky pecan rolls!!). Big fan of the Avi's Avo, and we also enjoyed the chicken tortilla soup. We like that carrots are a choice for the sides (also baked chips, kettle chips, or for $0.50 extra pasta salad -- so-so -- or vinegar coleslaw -- very vinegary, or for $1.00 extra, green salad). We'll be back, anytime we're in Tucson.

Beyond Bread suffers from having too much hype surrounding their restaurant. They don't strive to better their product because of this. The breads are, for the most part, too hard (the sliced bread varieties are soft). Their sandwich options are expansive and were created with thought. My favorite is "Bart's Bag," which is turkey, brie, LTO and honey mustard. That and a bag of chips for 7.99. The dining experience is similar to Chopped, order/pay at the counter and sit down, they bring your food to the table.

I love this place! I live in Phoenix and wish they had one up here. I went on a day trip to Tombstone and asked my family if it was okay if we stopped at Beyond Bread for dinner rather than eat in Tombstone. I was so happy when they agreed! Everything was delicious! I even purchased a sandwich my hubby was craving in PHX and transported it back to him. It was even delicious after being in a cooler for 2 hrs on the way home and the desserts purchased were to die for. Come on BB- open a PHX location already! :)

Everything Reuben.. Greek Omelet... Muffalotta... Pauly's Pesto.. Gordy's Gorgonzola.. Brad's Beef.. Charlie's Chicken.. oh my.. just to name some of my personal favorites. I don't know why they're not as busy for breakfast. I have not found many great breakfast places since moving to Tucson several years ago, for a reasonable price.. and that actually tastes better than what I can do. So I'm kinda picky. If I'm paying for it, then it better be better than what I can whip up with my own hands. I love their cinnamon buns.. the pecan ones are good, I'm a total nut person so I really thought these would be number 1.. but no, the plain cinnamon bun wins hands down. Many of their pastries are also great... creme brulee, cheese pocket (danish), chocolate mousse cake. I"m not a fan of the cookies, raspberry bar, and the fruit tarts don't appeal (tarts are always brushed with some type of glaze that seems to alter the taste to me -- so never tried, but they don't grab me). Also, I have found this to be the best location. The food is always consistent when I've been here, I can't say the same when I've visited the other locations. As for how you order. Works for me, usually I know what I want even before I walk in. That's why they have to go menus, people, so you can take them home.. study them. Then next time you're ready. I also love how people always stand like they're in line but aren't ready and then just kind of ignore the fact that they're actually next. Then when they call out they can help who's next and ready, they just stand there and don't do anything.. hello, at least turn to the person behind you and say "oh I'm still deciding, go ahead if you're ready".. but I think that's Tucsonian's attitude, poor.. Oh sorry, I got off on a tangent. Highly recommend Beyond Bread. I can be pricy for sandwiches but usually they're so big that you get two meals out of it, so then I think it's not a bad deal.. Breakfast also a pretty good deal too.

Great stuff but their prices went up so that they could finance their new location. Should be $$ now. Most sandwiches for carnivores run you $8-11. Charlie's Chicken was $9 when I went in this week. A bit pricey and ridiculous if you ask me.

  • Jinny H.

  • Tom H.

Love this place. Extensive menu with lots of good choices. Main problem is what to choose. Sandwiches are varied and come with an incredible variety of good breads. Many salads from which to choose. Good soups and a special each day. Now they serve craft beer. Wish we had them in Phoenix.

  • Martin R.

Not quite as outstanding as I once remember. Perhaps the success has gone to their head and, subsequently, the need to impress us waned. Nonetheless, in T Town I'll sometimes take what I can get and this is one of the best sandwiches

  • Lorrie K.

It's was just ok. Pretty pricy fir what you get. Workers could be nicer at those prices.

    (3)

I absolutely love the tomato basil soup here. It comes with a lot of delicious bread too. Three stars because when I've gotten the sandwiches I thought they were meh and I don't think most people come here to get soup. The service is good and the price is alright. An overall decent place for a lunch.

  • Ashley J.

Very good sandwiches and a vast selection of breads. Not bad prices either. About $10 a person

Great Sandwiches what else can I say. I'm not a huge sandwich person but this place is really really good. Beyond Bread is one of the more successful local businesses in Tucson, people I know who have worked there have great things to say about the owners/management, so I love supporting them with my business!

Beyond Bread contacted me to make it better the second time so I hope their avocado use in omelets are better.

POSITIVES: + Everything I've tried has been delicious : Sandwich, Salads, Desserts + Sandwiches come with free bag of potato chips + MANY sandwich choices NEGATIVES: - Always very busy, long lines (but that's good for business)

  • Kay H.

Can't go wrong with Beyond Bread! Great choices and the food tastes great. I give 4 stars because of the higher price and the small sides. What is this a side for ants!

You can't go wrong. The unique sandwiches, delicious salads, and very tasty desserts keep you going back for more! So glad to have one more location in town: Oracle/Ina.

The food here was quite good. You order and pay at the counter and then they bring it to your table. The dessertys looked great but we were too full after lunch to try them.

The only real downside to beyond bread is that their staff really is not the best but in terms of cold sandwiches, no one in AZ is better in my opinion.

ugh...no longer my go-to location. i went tonight with my roomie and decided to try something new. soup...yum. sandwich...heck yeah.

I would've much preferred that they give you the option of having bread as a side with your sandwich, especially given their name.

great, tasty sandwiches including some vegetarian choices.

  • Joshua S.

Sandwiches are great...Henry's Ham has always been my favorite and it's hard to order anything else.

fabulous! one thing i absolutely can NOT get enough of is bread. and it's beyond bread that makes me happy. love the lil sample fountain in front of the cashier... couldn't stop eating one slice after another. and the PRICE! paid $3.25 for a loaf of bread! now, THAT's a steal! if i lived in az, i'd totally come HERE to buy me a loafer than drive out to trader joes or any of the place i get my bread.. sry joe, the bread here is just too much for me to spare... :X by what i hear, i hear the sammies are great, but had brunch prior so had no room left, but it was bad enough that i brought a loaf of bread with me back to cali... beyond bread, you rock!

YUM! Sandwiches and soup are consistently great for lunch, and the other half of the sandwich is great for the next day. The pastries are okay, too, but stay away from the espressos - bitter!

mmmmm Beyond Bread how I miss thee.

I've had 5 different sandwiches from here. Each time they've been delicious. They have the best carrot cake in town. Man is it good.
