Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Speed's Hangar Deli is a GEM....if you are lucky enough to know someone who lives in Prescott AZ and takes you there for lunch....THANK THEM! The unique atmosphere and decor are memorable and fun. The owner is a wonderful woman who has put her heart (blood, sweat and tears as in any business) into the memorabilia, quality and quantity of food you experience.....and yes it is an experience to eat one of these fun named sandwiches. Freshest meats, cheeses, ingredients, rolls and bread! I personally don't drink Sweet Tea that often but, my family LOVES it.....and they make the BEST SWEET TEA at Speeds! We have thoroughly enjoyed our visits to Speeds Hangar Deli each and every time....you will too!

I think we caught the owner on a rough day - she pulled into her parking spot 5 minutes past when Speed's was set to open. We were already walking away, and I had to ask "are you guys open?" She said, "yeah, just had to go to Costco and it took too long, sorry." We walked into the deli - which is really its own delightful experience - space is tight but so authentic and tough. Every single time I've been here there has been at least one guy in an actual flight suit meandering in for lunch. The menu here is insane - pages of variations on steak and pastrami and smoked turkey, with homemade meatballs and NY style spaghetti sauce. Everything is either homemade or selectively sourced. My party tried the meatballs, the Italian style sub, the B-52, and the Rosie the Riviter. We were all super pleased with our meals, and the portions are HUGE! -Will be back -I love an owner who tells me she follows her tastebuds - and if they match her, we'll be very happy.

These sandwiches are made by hand with fantastic ingredients and huge portions (trust me, you'll have some left over) in a cool aircraft-bedazzled environment. You may have a bit of a wait if it's busy - but it's definitely worth it. Just take a look at the menu and c'mon down for lunch - it'll be the tastiest decision you've ever made.

Had a corned beef sandwich today. I had to remove at least four bites from the my mouth via my napkin. It chewed like I was eating rubber. They put the tough end pieces in my sandwich. I should have complained, but the lady who delivered it wasn't pleasant at all. The place had a creepy vibe. I felt like I was sitting in a business that would advocate for a white mellitia group. Maybe it's just me, and not being comfortable with the military decor. I simply won't eat there again, and that is based on the unfriendly woman, and my crappy sandwich, not the decor.

We had 4 different sandwiches and they were all delicious!! We will be coming back again. Drinks are pricy, as they only sell the 20 oz coke, and waters. Ice Tea is really cheap, and yummy!!

If you like really good meaty sandwiches, this is the place. A 12" "Fatman", will feed two unless you're in to eating for sport. Forget Subway and go for something better tasting and more filling. Plus, Deb is nice to talk to. Highly recommend this place!

I'm in Prescott for the afternoon. It's not a large city... rather small, actually, but I wanted something fantastic, and I got it. Twice, in fact. Speed's Hangar Deli is a small, off-the-beaten-track deli with walls covered in military memorabilia and various hand-written notes. The menu is broad, saliva-inducing and reasonably priced for the quality that they create. I ordered the "P38/Lightning" (grilled roast beef & pastrami, onions and melted Swiss - $9.95) on a Kaiser roll w/ Russian dressing and some added-on mushrooms ($0.60). What I got was a pleasure-inducing, steaming, moist pile of ridiculously high quality meats... with juicy and flavorful mushrooms (cut in unexpected 1/4s from top to bottom, rather than simply sliced). The RB is made in-house by the owner and let me tell you, the flavor and texture shines through. Deeeeelicious. I'm an avid pastrami hunter... and I work hard to find what I want in Phx (where I live). The pastrami here was tastier than a bacon-wrapped Unless you're pinned to the main historic square, this little gem is definitely worth supporting. It was so good, that after my first sandwich, I ordered another. Not "to go" but "for here." The owner delivered it and said, "God bless your metabolism." HA!! Speed's Hanger Deli in Prescott, AZ: DO IT... do it NOW!

This restaurant is a cultural experience. The decor is circa 1940's WWII bunker and aviation hanger. I'm pretty sure some of the ornamentation has been in exactly the same spot for 65 years (based on the dust accumulation). Behind the counter is team of Suzy-the-riveter sandwich artists that are fast and friendly and a bit burly; keeping in character. The selection of sandwiches is huge. They are pricy but also huge. I noticed several customers sharing sandwiches. I don't often give 5 stars, but this place is too cool and too good.

Food good....dirty cheap plastic dishes....Gross! Throw them out and buy more at the dollar tree! They should be embarrassed to give them to customers. I posted a picture of our unused bowl! Ewwwww!

I can't exactly put this into words as much as I can noises. Mmmmm, ooooh, ahhhh. This is NOT your average deli. The Chili is loaded with Steak, the sandwiches will give you the meat-sweats and put you into a food induced Coma... And you will LOVE it! The Decor is unique and bleeds Red, White and Blue. Not to mention the owner is a doll who Loves aviation and America. But don't be fooled, she don't take crap from nobody! Walk in with a smile and a hungry belly, waddle out laughing with a great memory.

I love this place! The food is fantastic and the service is awesome! I look forward to every time I come here. The atmosphere is a little overwhelming at first but it grows on the patron. I love the circa 1940's atmosphere. The owner is a fantastic women and she is super kind. I don't know why people say bad things about this place. I've never had a bad experience whenever I go. Despite the sandwich prices are a little high, the price is worth it! They are honestly the best sandwiches that I have ever had. I look forward to coming back and enjoying one of the best sandwiches in Prescott! One can never go wrong with Speeds Hanger Deli! The best sandwich place in Prescott, AZ!

Absolutely amazing food and service! A must go place for visitors and locals alike! My wife and I are definitely regulars and always leave fat and happy! To all current service members and veterans: make sure to say Hello to Deb, she loves the military and those that have served! Plus she has got tons of great stories that'll have you laughing your way out!

I always look forward to coming here for lunch, it is a treat as it's not the cheapest around but definitely worth it. The potato salad is heavenly. Sandwiches are delicious and the staff is very kind. Me and my wife both highly recommend this hidden gem.

Screwed up my sammich last time, no big deal. Called on another order A's some lady on the phone decided they didn't want my business and hung up on us mid conversation. You just lot a lot of customers from this one.

My husband and I were waiting for an RV repair and the service manager raved about this place. Very claustrophobic, although the authentic military decor was interesting. The food was horrible, though! My husband ordered what he thought was a deli sandwich. It was more like a soggy, open faced sandwich. When a sandwich comes out with a fork and knife...well, doesn't really seem like a sandwich. It was a mess of wet, weird flavors, I had the chicken wrap with sauteed veggies, how can you go wrong? Well, they did. Sauteed vegs included mushy squash and carrots. There was no way you could eat it as a wrap, since the tortilla was just wet mush. I picked out the chunks of chicken and that was lunch. I think we paid almost $30 for one of the worst meals we've ever had.

Thinking that they had redeemed themselves, I called them up. I cringed just a little when "Ms Wonderful" answered the phone. We now have a running joke about the momish lady that works there, she's a sammich nazi. You better know wtf you want when you call because if you don't, this lady will be your worst nightmare. So I was ordering for about 5 people and wanted something too. I had brought my own salad to work but wanted something to compliment it. I asked Ms Wonderful if she had soup, since there is a soup of the day listed. Wrong! She informed me that it's took hot outside for soup. Really? In Preskitt? Whatever. So I didn't order anything since I didn't want to face further rejection for not knowing the weather that day. There isn't much on the menu if u are trying to eat light. My friend chose the tuna salad, made into a salad. It was pathetic. Ms Wonderful must have been in a bad mood or short on lettuce because she literally made a tuna sammich with no bread. I felt bad for delivering such a salad to my friend even though I didn't even make it! I think it's overpriced and unpredictable which are 2 deal breakers when ordering lunch at work. I need something quick and tasty and it helps if the person making the lunch isn't filled with resentment. I know some people love this place but I just can't.

  • Ang A.

The food is not the greatest and definitely overpriced. The owner/staff is extremely rude refusing their name. They will not correct orders when it is made wrong. The menu posted doesn't state all the items on their sandwiches so if you have a food allergy be very careful. Their delivery area is very small and does not include downtown Prescott even for the extra fee (which is stated online). After the first visit which was not worth the money and energy, I was willing to try them again believing that every restaurant deserves a second chance. Unfortunately this is not one of them. Don't waste your money Safeway deli offers similar chicken sandwiches at a better price.

Best deli sandwich in Prescott. The breads are fresh and the meat is the real deal. Huge variety of sandwichs, warm and cold.

Great place! I ate here many, many times in college and never left disappointed. The sandwiches are soooo tasty, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. The Messerschmidt is outstanding. 5 stars for the food, and the nostalgia!

Great sandwich, bit overpriced. Seating is minimal. Plan on devoting an hour...and plan on waiting 15 minutes for your sandwich. Worth the wait, great portions.

The best effin sandwiches I have ever had!!! The quality of meat is excellent and the staff is very friendly. You can tell they are passionate about what they do. They rock their butts off! I was so happy to find this little gem. It is definitely in an odd location and you wouldn't think it was a restaurant. There is about 8 tables total. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it!!

Why the heck am I writing about this place on Yelp? Here is a wonderful, special tasty sandwich secret that I should be jealously hording all for myself and I'm practically drooling just thinking about it like Pavlov's Dog. It's that good, no kidding. But, I gotta share; Mom always said a good boys shares. So here you go. This is not a place anybody drives past and wonders about. It is tucked away in a little business park kind of place on the outskirts of town. It is small. Not Thai Foon small, but seating for may two dozen. Takeout seems very popular here. When I walk in the door the wonderful aroma washes over me like a gentle tide and I'm suddenly back in Little Italy. I take my first bite of an "Piaggio-PD808" and I am transported. (BTW - all of the items on the menu have aviation names; it don't know what they heck kind of aircraft a "Piaggio-PD808" was, but the sandwich is sure good!) They have an amazing variety of sandwiches here. Hot ones, cold ones, classic and some really wacky and very tasty combinations I think they have dreamed up all on there own. They start with good breads and they liberally apply some really fine ingredients and some very good Deli meats. Capicolla, Salami, Pastrami, Prosciutto, and good deli Ham and Turkey. Great cheeses to accompany. In addition that have a few classics like Lasagna, and Mac & Cheese. All good. The servings are generous and more than once we have taken the leftovers home for snacks. With names like "Fatman", "B-29/Super Fortress" and "B-17 / Flying Fortress" you should be thinking big sandwiches. For their lighter fare they have salad options (any sandwich as a salad) and some good wraps and chicken options. Other places wish they could product food like this. At Speed's they do it every day.

This place is really great. I went here on a Saturday when I was in town the food was really awesome! I had a grilled pastrami with swiss, sour kraut, mustard, and Russian dressing. Was really good and more than I should have eaten. It was a Saturday around 2pm so they were not real busy. Service was very friendly. Glad I came here on the recommendation of another Yelper!

One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. WWII theme with sandwiches the likes of Fat Man, Little boy, B52, etc. piled high with fresh ingredients. While small inside it has a great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

Best sandwiches I have ever had! I have never found a place that equates to speeds!!! I like to describe speeds to people who have not been there as, about 5 inches of MEAT, and about 1/4 inches of bread. I'd go on vacation to Prescott just to eat here every meal!

MY FAVORITE PLACE EVER! These is NO reason to give Speed's Deli less than FIVE stars. It is THE BEST place to eat lunch in Prescott (probably Northern AZ) and the town is lucky to have it - thanks Deb and the gang for all the good years! It's a classic East Coast deli and all the sandwiches are named from historical military warcraft while being wrapped in butcher paper - the way a deli should be. The meat is piled on and explodes out the sides of the bread. All made to order - simply the best! You won't regret the experience and it may just become your favorite as well.

Great meaty sandwich in a military/aviation themed atmosphere. Price is high for what you get, but it is high quality ingredients. Proprietor sends care packages to troops overseas, that counts for alot in my book.

  • Carlos R.

Great tasting sandwiches. Friendly service. The place has a cool aviation theme. I had the p38, pastrami and roast beef, and it was delicious. Would definitely go back if I'm ever in this location again.

Speed's is a local deli, it has an aviation/military theme to it. The sandwiches are mostly named for fighter/bomber aircraft (with a few exceptions). If you get a couple sandwiches to go, expect the bag they are in to weigh a ton. Each sandwich comes loaded with an excessive amount of meat and cheese. The sandwiches are additively good, so if you have an existing heart condition you might want to stay away. Out of the sandwiches I have tried, the Little Boy is my favorite. It comes with grilled pastrami, ham, turkey, tomatoes, onions and melted mozzarella cheese. I get it without onions or tomatoes on sourdough. Everyone I know around here or visiting here loves Speed's. Maybe there is something healthy on the menu, but I've never noticed it amongst all the other great (and slightly more fattening) selections.

Located in an industrial part of Prescott, Speed's is a great alternative to Subway. Although a bit more expensive and (likely) much less healthier, Speed's has good sandwiches (and breakfast, as well). The sandwiches do take up to 15 minutes to prepare. Nonetheless, they are worth it. Additional Notes: - You can call ahead so that your sandwich is ready when you arrive. - Speed's closes relatively early in the afternoon (I am not certain to the exact time).

Bring your appetite and come hungry! Great scratch made sandwiches with a generous portion. My favorite is the ME-109 on a kaiser but you cant go wrong with any of them. Think you can beat the B-52? Only a few have. Good ingredients made with care makes for some great sandwiches. Best in Prescott!

We were headed up to Prescott for Labor Day weekend and we were looking for a deli for lunch. I had searched Yelp earlier and it suggested Speed's Hangar Deli as one of the best sandwiches in Prescott. We found the deli and there weren't very many cars in the parking lot so I got worried they were closed, being a holiday weekend. We walked in and the owner said she was not really open, due to the holiday, but since people were coming in, she would be more than happy to make us a sandwich. My wife and I had the same sandwich and it was incredible. The owner was very pleasant and friendly. We will definitely being stopping here again when we are in Prescott.

Best sandwiches in all of Arizona! The lady who owns it is the nicest person ever and donates to troops over sees! The restaurant is small but comfortable. The service is quick and the food is deli fresh! The sweet tea is to die for, so is the Russian dressing!!!

This place is hidden out of the way and we only found out about it because our son is a student at ERAU- someone told him about it last fall. The sandwiches are made fresh to order with some of the freshest ingredients. They are piled high with freshly sliced ingredients. I went for the "healthy choice" and had the fresh veggie wrap. It was delicious. I commented to my husband and son that I felt like I was "back home in New York". Turns out the owner is from my hometown on Long Island. My only regret is that my son is a junior and wish we had discovered this place, just down the road from ERAU, during his freshmen year. (BTW-ERAU students get a discount).

Amazing food, just like walking into a deli up home. Everything made fresh, from the best ingredients. The military motif is cool and 100% authentic. The owner is a treat all by herself. Won't find a more intelligent person to have a conversation with. She's good people.

This place is great I have to admit I haven't been there in about a year, I live in the valley. Next time I am up in Prescott I will have to stop by this place.
