YAY! I'm so happy that I found Surf City tanning! I've desperately been searching for a tanning salon that provides custom spray tans near me and today my tanning prayers were answered Allison was so helpful and sweet! Will defiantly be getting a membership very very soon!

I have tried many spray tans, but went here for my first custom airbrush. Alison was awesome! She helped me decide on the perfect color, and I couldn't be happier with the results! She made me feel very comfortable, her and her coworker were very friendly and helpful. I can't imagine ever going to another machine to get a tan, and will most likely keep coming back to Surf City for an airbrush because of this experience. I recommend! And they had some really cute swim suits for sale too! :-)

I was on the hunt for a quick tanning fix before country thunder. I called ahead and spoke to an upbeat helpful employee who I booked an airbrush appointment with. The experience was really good the employee was very friendly. The reason for the 5 stars would be due to my own stupidity. After the appointment I was not suppose to shower for 6-8 hours, yet I dropped a bucket of water splashing all over my freshly bronzed airbrushed legs. I called and spoke with the same girl I had my appointment with. Once again she proved to be friendly and helpful, she talked me through my options and made me feel like less of an idiot. The customer Service was excellent and the airbrush tan is impeccable!

I've been spray tanning for 3 years now. I've done almost every automatic machine and have had many custom spray tans. Nothing compared to the custom handspray done here. I've had 2 different girls spray me and they have the same outcome. BEAUTIFUL TANS. No streaking, running and their product is amazing. LOVE THIS PLACE.

It's always the little things that make a HUGE difference in whether or not you like a personal service like this- and Surf City delivers BIG TIME in that area! Not only was my experience friendly and professional from the time I signed up- but the way the staff created a personal relationship with me really made the difference in my experience. They took the time to learn about what I needed- which is rare these days. From there, we looked at all of the options that would be best for ME- THE CLIENT (can you imagine?) and there was no phony sales pitch about things that I didn't really need. Within one week, staff knew me by name and greeted me that way when I walked in the door each and every time. My last name is very complicated, but they ALWAYS remembered how to spell it and already had my account pulled up without my needing to say anything when I walked through the door. As far as the actual product- it is second to none. I've tanned at many places and not had near the results I did at Surf City tanning. They not only pride themselves on the cleanliness of the beds, rooms, and store in general, but they also make sure you are taken care of with any personal items you need before and after tanning. Overall, I would highly recommend this experience to anyone- whether you are looking to start tanning for the first time, or looking for a change if you are unhappy with your current tanning provider.

Interesting to see others have had problems cancelling their memberships. Store told us our membership of 1 year would be cancelled. No word from them for over 5 months, so we assumed it had been taken care of. Then, SURPRISE! 5 months charged all at once to my credit card, and we had not even been there for 6 months. They tried to tell me the credit card had declined several times. NOT - Credit card has a huge limit and has never declined in my life. Owner not telling the truth and I would not recommend this place. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

A quick update from the last review, the owner had agreed per the email I posted our contract would be cancelled. Because I left a negative review which had been accurate to my experience they are now threatening further charges without our consent. It's sad to see a small business ran this way.

The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because one of the staff members really rubs me the wrong way. I'm never greeted or told goodbye by her and she always seems to have a bit of an attitude. I know shes fairly new, but one experience in particular really upset me. I come in, without being greeted at all and i'm told that bed 3 is ready for me. After entering the room I notice theres a dirty towel on the counter, but whatever, maybe she forgot it. I lotion and fully undress, then I notice someone is opening the door, so I call out that I'm in the room. She then tells me she meant to tell me bed 2 and that the timer isn't set for bed 3.... as if she wants me to walk nude across to another bed. I told her to set the timer for 3, because I was already undressed. She just says "ok." So now i'm shaken up,upset, and tanning in a dirty bed. I turn the radio on and lay there listening to commercials for several minutes, then nothing but country. On my way out she didn't even stop me to apologize for walking in on me naked and sending me to the wrong bed. She actually didn't even say goodbye. I was quite frankly shoked and insulted. I usually wouldn't say anything, because everyone makes mistakes, but that experience has been bothering me so I had to say something.

Lets start wity the 6 month commitment to tanning...the girls are rude and talk about their personal lives in front of customers. The owner is never arouns but should probably spend more time there since the girls care more about themselves than his customers. We tried to cancel our tanning membership due to moving and never received calls from his manager when we were told we would, and then when we finally got ahold of her, were told that she always returns calls and that we would have to wait another 2 months due to their policies. I understand mistakes in businesses and do not mind when they are made up with customer service but this place doesnt care about servicing the customer. Image sun is a better pick for only 5 miles away.

I am in a friend's wedding this week, and I decided to try getting a spray tan for the first time. My tan turned out great! The staff was really friendly and I felt welcome. It's clean and decorated super cute inside. I will definitely return here again!

For anyone who is looking for a GREAT place to tan - Surf City Tanning is IT! First and foremost, the staff is by far the best I've ever experienced - they ALL greet you by name when you arrive and are knowledgeable about the lotions; beds; and products too! They are so detail-oriented and customer driven, that they have even put on my favorite music while I'm tanning!!! Where do you get THAT kind of service?! They also offer great deals and have lots of super swimsuits in stock. Check out Surf City Tanning - you won't be disappointed. Terri

Surf City Tanning is seriously the best tanning salon I have ever been too, which is saying a lot comming from me since iv tanned at tan factory, celebrity tanning, pro tan, total tan and tan united. I have seen so much color from even their basic level bed. I adore the entire staff, within using my fourth tan they already knew me by name and remember i stored my lotion in back and had it out ready for me in seconds. I never felt rushed like a lot of salons where 'you walk in scan a card or say ur last name and ur in a bed in seconds' they almost always ask how im doing, if I would like an upgrade, etc. I would recomend this tanning salon to EVERYONE that asks, and their right next door to a wax center and la fitness. What more could you ask? JUST GOT A CUSTOMER AIRBRUSH AND LOVED IT

The staff at surf city is very knowledgable and helpful when it comes to choosing both packages and products. Salon is very clean and orderly. Custom spray tan by JoAnna was amazing. I highly recommed it to anyone who has a big event coming up. Color was even and customized to my skin color and desired effect. I will continue tanning here and would recommend it to anyone. While many salons in the area are closing Surf City seems to be thriving!
