This was a legit find. The chicken and carne asada were both really good. The tortillas were fresh and some of the best I've had. 4 stars vs 5 because the salad bar was seriously lacking. Fix it or better yet get rid of it, no one is going to miss it. The place is easy to miss and there is only one way in and out, so if you pass it you will drive around the block to get back to where you need to be. Decor is what you would expect from a Mexican steak house with lots of cowboy memorabilia and DeGrazia art.

I was in the area for business, looking for a place to eat lunch. I came here as recommended by a person I was meeting earlier. I really like their door handles, I wish I took a picture of it. They were so cute. So western looking decoration throughout. Clean inside, service was good. About five mins drive from the border, tacked away in a small street, you won't know it unless you know it's there. Food on the other hand, it was a bit greasy for my taste. I suppose I am used to American Mexican food, I wasn't thinking how greasy real Mexican food could be. Salsa they had was very spicy. Very much flavorful I tasted fresh habanero more so than I am used to. Soup I had was good but again oily for my taste. Shrimp and rice were also good but again, greasy for me. Everything I ate was so flavorful and good, but I didn't want to get heartburn so I ate about a half of my meal. If I didn't have to drive three hours to come home that day, I would have tried steak and eat more. I was just trying to be careful as I knew i had a long drive ahead. Whatever the grease they used, it didn't give me any heartburn, and I wished i finished my meals.. I recommend this place for those looking for real Mexican food. They tasted authentic, I wasn't just ready to try....but next time I will.

Very good food. Great Salsa. EXCELLENT Margaritas. The best I have had in years. We are heading to Nogales this weekend and Las Vigas is on our to do list!

This place was great. We almost skipped it because there wasn't anyone inside when we arrived early (645, after going to two other places were out of business), but the food was actually very good. I had chicken and shrimp and my coworker had steak. I would definitely return here when back in town.

Good food although we had high expectation since this restaurant is so close to the border. The Mexican food was ok. The queso dip was good. The T-bone steak was alittle over cooked but still tasty. I will say the vegetables were awesome

This hole in the wall was anything but!! I had the bandit steak with a baked potato and side of frijoles. The steak I ordered was med rare and juicy. I arrived with a party 9 and our food maybe took 15 minutes. This will definitely be a regular spot when I'm in town.

What a find in Nogales, well once you find it! This gem is a little off the beaten track and hidden behind a few buildings... if you have a gps you will find it... and it is worth the trip. The food here is very good, and the service is fantastic. Mexican food at its best... and dont be scared that it is a steak house, because they have all types of Mexican food, that is borderline real Mexican, and a little of the Arizona twist on things as well. The chips and salsa is very good... and I had a combo platter with enchiladas, fried tacos, steak and beans. The food is very very good. The decor is even better, we sat next to a bat used by Babe Ruth, and a train runs around the ceiling. This is a neat restaurant and the food is great!

After Las Vigas catered my sister's wedding I dragged my husband to Nogales from Amado the very next day. I'd like to first take the time to say a little about Nogales, AZ. It is really a wonderful town with lovely, helpful, and friendly people. We parked in a guarded pay lot and hit the pavement. After window shopping for a bit we walked to Las Vigas. The employee recognized us from the wedding (maybe he was the manager?). He sat and chatted with us for a long time. He then gave us a ride to our car because it was over 100 degrees out. I was really touched. The food: to die for. I always get the same thing at Mexican restaurants as a "test": pork carnitas. Simply amazing....crispy chunks of meat, not a lot of pork fat. I had a few brews and oh, two words: homemade tortillas. If you sit by the front door take a moment to visit walk to the rear & visit the rest room. Pay attention to what's on the walls along they way (lots of interesting history). A friend asked me if I drank the water they poured at the table. I laughed at her. Then, realizing she was serious, said yes, I did and lived to tell about it. If you find yourself in this charming border town take a moment to stop & smell the roses. Be sure you're hungry! I can't recommend this place highly enough. :-)

I've been going to this restaurant for 20 years and it is still amazing. The same friendly waiters are still working there! The food is authentic, traditional, and delicious.

It all starts with the chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant for me. Usually if they are good, the food gets better. Well the chips and salsa were excellent, light, crispy and lightly salted. And the food? It only got better. There were eight hungry bikers in our group and we were served our entres shortly after ordering. Albeit, the restaurant was quiet at 2:30pm. Two of us chose the salad bar vs. the soup which they said was lettuce, carrots, cucumber and broccoli. Not much of an assortment. I had the PASTA SOUP and it was delicious. Everyone loved their entres and a few of us said it was the best Mexican food they had every eaten. I had the TACOS CARNE ASADA. The refried beans and rice were delicious and authentic. So full of flavor. The carne asada in the tacos were just so tender and scrumptious. It is a little bit off the beaten path but walking distance to the shopping area. It has a great atmosphere and decor with a cute train that runs around the perimeter of the ceiling. The kids will love it! It was really a treat to dine at Las Vigas and I hope to return soon to try some of the other menu items.

At the recommendation of the front desk of our hotel, we headed to Las Vigas. It's a little bit tricky to find, mainly because there's no flashy sign, so it can be hard to spot after dark. The decor and atmosphere is spot on for a "steak ranch". It's like a more authentic version of all the cheesy cowboy steak houses I've visited out west, with Mexican flavor. There are pictures of Pancho Villa and even two old-school black and white group portraits labeled "types of Mexicans" and "types of Mexican women." When we arrived around 6:30 on a Wednesday night, every table was full. We sat at the bar to wait, but ended up just ordering and eating there. We asked the server what he recommended, and I decided on the carne asada plate. While we waited, they brought thick house-made tortilla chips and salsa that was more pureed than chunky. We each had a cup of the mexican chicken noodle soup instead of the salad bar. The broth was good, but the vegetables and noodles were too soft for my taste. This was not fast, but in their defense, they were quite busy. It appeared that they were cooking and running everything as fast as they could. When my carne asada finally arrived, it was thin, perfectly cooked with good flavor. The beans that came with it were also very smooth, and the rice was quite fluffy. All in all, a good plate of food. We ran into one of the servers the next day at the border crossing, and he told us to come back, since it's not normally that crowded. It's a spot that I wouldn't mind revisiting on my next business trip. #Yelp365 - 308/365

If you happen to be in the Nogales area, this is a place to eat! When we walked in we chose our own seats and were given adorable menus that were on mini-washboards! The decor and ambiance was a nice mix of vintage photos from Nogales in the early 1900's-1970's and TVs to watch the game! We were given homemade tortilla chips and fresh salsa, both delicious. For an appetizer we split the Quesadilla and Guacamole sampler. Holy crap. Okay, so first off, they make their tortillas fresh every day and you can tell- crispy and delicious, and a small layer or refried beans on the quesadilla really put it over the top. The guacamole was fresh and had a nice touch of tomatoes (and not too many onions or cilantro!). For our entrees, he ordered the Carne Asada Plate and I ordered the Carnitas Plate. Both came with smaller corn tortillas and a larger (Fresh) flour tortilla. The carne asada plate came with rice and beans while the carnitas came with guacamole (yeah!) and beans. Both came with thick slices of tomato as well as a few key limes cut in half to season the food. The carnitas were cooked beautifully- smaller pieces that had a small ribbon of fat (the PERFECT amount) and crispy on the outside. I was in heaven. The service was great, as was the pricing. I have a feeling we'd be eating there way more often if we lived closer!

Nope. This place is NOT good. Again, overpriced. Atrocious location. Go to Nogales Meat Market. Food is better. And you have plenty of parking.

Food was beyond excellent, but the service has a lot of room for improvement. I think we only saw the waiter twice.

This a great example of regional Mexican food. Las Vigas is a great representative of the food of the area. If you can't cross the border and go to La Caverna, Las Vigas is the spot! You will be greeted with a challenge to find parking. So get here early or later to avoid peak times. The food is good and you'll have to expand your belt after the meal.

I have been travelling to the Tubac/Rio Rico/Nogales area for work, and was recently introduced to Las Vigas. If you love true carne asada like me, this is your place! I had the Tampiquena, which was a perfect combo if carne asada, and other authentic sonoran delicacies. Attentive staff, great chips and salas, and the frijoles are out of this world good. A definite must-stop if you are in Nogales for any reason what-so-ever.

I travel to Nogales and Rio RIco on Business every 6 weeks. Las Vigas Steak Ranch is the only restaurant in the area I have visited that is worth going back each time I'm in town. Las Vigas serves traditional sonoran style Mexan food, that tastes like they have their grandmothers in the kichen cooking for you. I recommend the La Carmen combination. Taco, Taco al Vapor, an Enchilada, rice and beans.. For those Pepper heads out there ask for their Chiles Torreados!

Like Andrew M, I also travel to the Nogales/Rio Rico area frequently for work. I purposely plan my trips so as to avoid being in the area on Mondays...because Las Vigas is closed on Mondays! The food is quite good (better than any Mexican food you'll find in Phoenix) and the prices can't be beat. Definitely worth a try when passing through Nogales.

Decent and legit Mexican food...the refried beans were really good. Tacos and enchilada were just ok. It sells Mexican food and steaks. Mexican food will mostly be under 10 dollars, the steaks will be around 20.

Traditional, rock-in-your-gut Mexican food that has been popular with my family for many years. The Tacos "Pancho Birria" and "Oaxaqueas" are favorites, but the steaks are also decent; everything is served with tortillas, beans, salsa, so bring the Maalox. Atmosphere is decidedly old-West saloon casual, and a lot of locals frequent the place...but don't let that discourage you from enjoying the real deal!!
