Very nice place to have a great steak dinner. Service was excellent. The waiters were always there checking on us. The prime rib was very good. The filet was amazing. Apple cobbler for desert (a la mode) topped it off. Thanks. We will be back.

Good food. Service was outstanding. Great mountain ambiance. Most food is made from scratch. Great place to take the family for dinner.

We resently went back here and found it under new management. The food was not the same. My husband had steak and I had salad with steak on top. My steak was a cheap cut which I realized after sending it back and getting the same same tough cut. I would have preferred just a few pieces of a better cut over a whole steak. My husvands was under seasoned. The wait staff was on top of everything but not sure we will return.

Service was good but the food was definitely not worth the money. We ordered corn on the cob and we got corn that I'm pretty sure came from a green giant can. There was nothing special about it.

Worth going a little bit out of Pinetop to find this. Our party had NY strip, ribeye and prime rib. All were excellent. Added bonus was having the owner be our waiter. The rub used on the meats was excellent. Only negative was salads pre made and sitting in cooler so the lettuce was limp. However, dressings were all homemade and were wonderful. Even if you don't have room. ORDER DESSERT. Pies are amazing

My grandparents wanted a nice evening out with the family while we were on our visit to AZ. I grew up in the area so I was happy to come try this place out since it wasn't here when I lived here. We were sat a large table off to the side of the main dining room. I would have like to sit in the main room but it was ok. We stared with the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail. I wasn't a fan. It was oddly sweet for my taste. The Onion Rings were good and my kids enjoyed those. Our waitress was so so sweet. She claimed it was her first night working at the restaurant. If she hadn't had told us that we wouldn't have known. She was excellent. However there was a very odd moment between another waiter and Im guessing the manager. They got into what I can only describe as a "Catty" moment between each other at our table. It was a little uncomfortable and slightly unprofessional and we could tell it made the new waitress a little unsteady. Keep the cattiness to yourselves gentlemen. My entree was the 8oz Prime Rib. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes were home made and great. I really enjoyed my food. There was a Corn Dog for my son and perfectly cooked French Fries. I was definetly impressed by the kids food. I really appreciate a place that puts just as much effort into making the kids food just as good as the adult food. My one real complaint, besides the tizzy the staff got in in front of us, was the dessert. It was terrible. We ordered Cheesecake. It was obviously prefozen then defrosted cheese cake. It was terrible! Dont order that what ever you do. A real bad ending to a great meal. We would come back again for a family get together. Very kid friendly and great service.

We visited on Saturday, July 25th around 4:30 for an early dinner. We love the restaurant itself as it is very comfortable with very good service. The big hit was freshly baked bread! My husband ordered prime rib which was a disappointment. It looked pale inside, almost like pork looks. It was very was different than we have ever had. His sides were good, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Our daughter ordered salmon but was told they were out already. That early? Seemed a little odd. Her second choice was ribs. Although she said they were "OK." They seemed to be tender but almost without any texture. My steak salad was perfect, not heaped overly with lettuce as in some restaurants. The steak was perfect! About 6:30 a very good threesome came on singing familiar western songs. They were not too loud and we were able to hear a few songs before we left.

Food was so so, sides especially were not great. Had the prime rib, was decent but not amazing. Service was great, waitress was very friendly although the timing of the meal was a little off. Live music was also nice.

Excellent food, ambiance, music, service, etc. The best steak in Lakeside/Show Low area! My only complaint is they ran out sweet potato fries by 6:30pm on a Saturday night.

I called ahead to ask if they had soup, was told yes, long pause, "would you like to know what kind?" I replied that would be nice. He asked "Do you want me to find out?" I replied yes, please. Long pause, Vegetable beef. Awesome I replied. He said don't come in tonight, we don't know what we are doing. I took this as a joke, my bad. The waitress had 2 tables & 1 person at the bar, who apparently was more important than either table. We ordered our food, the Ribeye was overly fatty, the potato was a bit under cooked the "mildly spicy" beans were quite spicy. The Filet was ordered medium, came out medium rare & when we asked to have it cooked more the server took the plate back, came back with the rice & corn on it & told us their meat was "very red" so it appears to be under cooked but it is really cooked right. When she brought the meat back it was charcoaled on top & very tough. If you want a GOOD steak at a more reasonable price with real service you may want to go to Darbi's. Charlie Clark's or Licanos, because you won't find it here. We will not be back. Keith, Oh how we miss you!!!

What a waste of a great atmosphere. 5:15 PM reservation and dinner delivered 70 minutes later. We had to request refills; waiter was snappy and barely visible. Food was acceptable for a $15 steakhouse, but we paid $23 a ribeye.

First... I should preface this with the fact that I'm a vegetarian. Yes, I know, I set myself up for failure. However, I must say that my husband was quite happy with his ribeye and actually enjoyed his dinner salad. The service was great - everyone was very friendly and attentive. I ordered off the sides menu and the corn on the cob looked like it came from the freezer but the mashed potatoes and green beans were good!

My husband and I wanted to like this place. We went for Sunday brunch recently and the selection of dishes was rather slim, although the omelet bar was pretty good. Worse was the fact that all the prepared food (eggs, potatoes, etc.) were so over-salted as to be almost inedible and the waffles (Eggos?) were cold. Our second trip was for an early Valentine's Day dinner. The host got the experience off on the wrong foot by canceling our reservation because we were late - although we arrived on time, we had to stand in line for 10 minutes while he seated walk-in guests and flipped back and forth through his reservation book. He accused of us being 30 minutes late after having just checked the time on his phone. I felt as if I were being called a liar. We did get seated right away, fortunately, but it all got worse after that. Although most of the dining area is quite nice, we were seated in an area outside the bus station that looked more like a cafeteria, with chairs that reminded me of church and a view of a picture of a big spider in a web (not appetizing). Our server, Gabe, was the only bright spot. He did a good job for as busy as the place was but he couldn't control the fact that my husband was served a rotten baked potato and curdled milk so thick it was more of a solid than a liquid. I don't care how busy the place is, there is simply no excuse for serving rotten food. The meal itself was just ok. The prime rib was good but the lobster tail was smothered in a sweet, icky sauce that I just couldn't stomach (especially after seeing my husband's potato and milk) - ruined a perfectly good piece of seafood! The salad, described as mixed greens/iceberg, was actually a bagged iceberg "salad" with scant slivers of carrot and red cabbage and three slices of cucumber. That's a salad? Be forewarned...

Seems like a lot of people that posted before giving this place a poor review are from the valley. First of all, this isn't a Morton's or Dominick's, so adjust your expectations. This is your typical small town mom and pop steakhouse. Food and service was average, but you can tell the owner and staff are working their hardest to give you a great experience.

My first visit to Porter Mountain Steakhouse was with a Party of 8. Service was very good. We had a verity of dishes and they were very good. The salad was fresh and chilled. 4 of us went back on Friday for the fish fry. Once again every thing was very good. The fish was cooked perfectly and the breeding was just right. We will be back again.

Pluses: Warm greeting; attentive and friendly service; pleasant, quiet atmosphere with no music, no yellers in the nearby bar, no drafts. Hubby raved about his ribeye (which was medium-rare, as requested, at one end, and distinctly medium at the other, but literally fork-tender throughout); salmon was well-grilled; dessert was warm & densely chocolately; coffee & iced tea were good. Minuses: At these prices ($60+ with tip for two with no appetizer, no alcohol and a shared dessert), I don't expect diner-style paper napkins and a plastic-covered tablecloth. Salad was terribly tired and uninspired, slightly brown at the edges -- Denny's does better; bread was dampish; corn had kernels missing (as if they'd succumbed to insects); no corn holders (that wasn't a pretty sight); piece of salmon (for $18) was *really* small. So, a solid Meh! These are truly nice people and the chef knows his grill, so we probably will be back. We just won't hurry back.

Side salad was uninspired - it looked like they just opened a bag of mixed iceberg from the grocery store, threw on two mushy cherry tomatoes and two slices of cucumber. Very unappetizing. The pork chop was highly seasoned but not overly so; green beans were ridiculously over seasoned; baked potato was undercooked. Waitress was disinterested and obviously does not like her job. The young gentleman who was the food runner had the best attitude in the place. Pleasant and helpful. Waitresses were not; they seemed more interested in chatting behind the bar. Will not go back.

Without a doubt, the worst service and food ever. New owners/management has reopened and are doing a very poor job. We went with another couple over Memorial Day weekend and it was terrible. From the hostess on back. They did have a Mgr on duty but he ignored everyone and avoided eye contact back walking back outside. During our order of 4 hamburgers, we observed a young man bringing in hamburger buns from somewhere else. Each burger was cooked different and even the size was different on each one. Frys fresh frozen and barely cooked. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table in the Dining room. At least 8 empty tables, the reason we had to wait the servers were Slammed? We didn't know about the outside entertainment until we wondered outside by mistake, had to figure whats going on there. I did write a letter to the corp office and no response. If you think your going to the OLD Porter Mtn Steakhouse, your not.

After reading the reviews I was hesitatant in going to the Porter Mountain Steak House, but am glad I went anyway. We had 6:00 reservations and were promtly seated in a great location where the country band played. The atmosphere was great and the group played nice soft dinner country music. Out server, Emily was the best she could be, very friendly and extremely helpful. My meal as well as my wifes and father in laws meal was the 16 oz prime rib that was cocked to perfection as was my mother in-laws grilled shrimp. During and after our meal, the general manager Tim, stopped by our table and was very friendly and made as feel right at home with his genuine smile and the way he conducted himself. After eating there and having a wonderful experience, I can only conclude that these other folks didn't eat at The Porter Mountain Steak House as I did, They must have been somewhere else. Way to go genearl Manager and staff, this was truely an amazing dinner. Thanks
