I will start with the good, Waitress - very friendly and helpfull Food - was pretty good, apparently they make their own curry... it was fresh tasting but very hot (beyond your typical thai hot) The bad, Slow service, we were the only ones there and it took an hour to get our food (kitchen) Limited menu, but they did accomodate changes Cleanliness, there were spider webs in the window we were seated near. They were also cleaning tables with a sponge (a bacteria nono) Overall I give it an average... value, atmosphere and location were all average... so the consensus is 3 STARS We have 2 more thai food places to try before we decide if we will go back... we shall see

I looked at the other reviews and I think people were being a bit harsh. The restaurant was busy and the staff was polite. The server was friendly and the food came out fast. They also offer a thai hot tea which my husband loves. We got a noodle dish which was good and a coconut curry dish which was yummy. It was a bit different to me because it came with potatoes and squash. It was inexpensive. The plus was its hard to find vegan food on the road and we found it in show low.

I dare you to find a better veggie egg roll. They rule. And I crave them a lot. Satay is super tasty and the peanut sauce is amazing. Tom Ka Gai is much different than I've had other places but it's really good too!

I read the reviews, I didn't though before going. It was my birthday. I ordered some fruity cocktail and it tasted nothing like alcohol, so I asked for a shot and poured it in. In the end, I think that they just didn't bother to stir it cause I stirred it after adding the shot and got quit a wallop, this coming from the girl who likes her drinks strong. We then ordered starters. Our friends ordered fried tofu and we had larb, which was amazing and yummy and spicy and totally worthy the random choice. But the waiter had to come back and ask if we wanted it chicken or pork, he should have asked, but I don't think he knew the menu well. When we ordered our entrees he asked us what numbers they were. it wasn't a language thing he just didn't know the menu. We went with another couple, and myself and my female counter part had Red Curry Chicken and they guys both had Pad Thai. It was well done, spicy, but not overly so. So the place was pretty empty for a Sunday night. No one had to send their food back, I enjoyed my dinner, and so did everyone else. I will like to try larb again, I've been to MANY Thai places and they didn't have any of the old fall back for starters (other than satay) that and my drink are probably my only two gripes about the place and those seemed small in comparison to finding alternative starters and REALLY enjoying my meal. I think if we have to make a run up to Show Low some evening while were up that way there is a very good possibility we will give this place another shot. I also forgot to mention, the place was fairly warm for the weather, like uncomfortably so. Maybe kick the temp down a notch or two?

We came here with high hopes, referred by a friend, a working mom who eats with her family here once or twice each week. (This was the first and the last time we took her advice on dining out on the Mountain.) I ordered chicken pad thai. This is normally a delightful dish--chicken and noodles, peanuts and spicy peanut sauce--but in Mountain Thai's hands, the entree is entirely different: an albinoid mass of slimy and flavorless noodles, with the odd peanut and slimy chunk of chickenlike matter in the mix. Unsightly, unappetizing, and inedible. One gathers the impression that the cooking process at Mountain Thai involves opening cans, dumping the contents on plates, and nuking them until warm. We did spot an actual Thai person on the staff. How can reconcile her conscience to this nefarious conspiracy in defamation of her culture's cuisine? Trying to prevent the evening from being a total waste, we had the owner box the leftovers, which were ample, since neither my wife nor I could manage to eat much of our entrees. When we got home, we offered the "food" to our 3 reservation dogs. Our mutts are indiscriminate eaters, as they had subsisted entirely on handouts and leftovers before we adopted them. But the dogs refused to eat the leftovers from Mountain Thai, and that tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the cuisine on offer at this dubious establishment.

I've never written a review yet but this place FORCED me to write one. This place is horrible. Here are the reasons 1. Food arrived after 45 mins late 2. My food was bad the egg in the noodles tasted gross and I asked them to take it back 3. The owner came out with the same dish and asked me to eat it. His reasoning was that I had eaten the chicken in the noodles and hence I would have to pay for the food. I had never asked them to take it out of the check but the way the owner told me was plain rude. Never been spoken to or treated like this in any restaurant. 4. When I was talking to the owner the cook came out and shouted out something in audible to me. 5. The staff was cleaning the place and they were constantly arguing about who should be doing what, which was very annoying. AVOID this place!!

I consider myself an Asian food hound. Had Asian food all over the world. This place is awesome. Great beer selection. Very gourmet dishes.

My wife and I read the reviews and decided the complaints about the food being too spicy was easily dismissed as wimps whining. We tried the Mountain Thai food. I have been a Thai food aficionado for 30 years. I, at one time, had eaten at every Thia restaurant in the Phoenix area. This food is not only too hot to eat it is.... Weird. There was something that was just ... wrong. I don't know how else to put it. Would NOT recommend to anyone.

Some of the best Thai food we've ever had. The Drunkin' noodles were wonderful. Friendly service. We'll be back.

We decided to try Mountain Thai again after having a lack luster experience a few years ago. We have been going to the new Thai restaurant in town, but they don't have coconut ice cream, which we love! After reading some of the recent reviews, we thought we'd give Mountain Thai another chance. We had the green curry with tofu and fried rice with shrimp. The menu stated that the green curry was very spicy, but they did not offer the familiar number system of desired heat .. so we decided to take a chance. It was definitely spicy and I won't fault them for that ... we were warned. But we had to get up to request more water . Even when a fellow waitress came by to clean the table next to us, she totally ignored us. I guess we weren't her table. The curry was tasty .. but we weren't able to finish. We normally order a 3 at other Thai places. I would say this was definitely a 4 bordering on 5. If you like really spicy, then go for it. The Fried Rice had lots of shrimp, but it was a bit on the fishy side and the rice was mushy. We weren't able to finish that either. I think this is the first time we left a Thai restaurant leaving food on the plates and it had nothing to do with the portion size. Our waiter was sweet, but not very attentive. As I mentioned, we had to get up to ask for a refill on our water once and track him down the second time. Then we decided to get what we came there for .. the homemade coconut ice cream. The waiter took our order but shortly thereafter, a large group came in and sat at the tables next to us. It probably would have taken him a minute to dish out our ice cream, but he was pulled away to get the water glasses together for the large group. We decided to save him the trouble and leave without the ice cream. As we were eating, we overheard the owner talking about the other Thai restaurant that just opened up in town and how his wife considered its opening an 'declaration of war'. Well .. she better reach back into her arsenal and pull out the big guns. So far .. in our opinion, she's losing the battle. This place seems to do a good business so maybe we just hit them on an off night. However, we probably won't give them a third try.

I love this place! Authentic, delicious, service was good, huge portions for not a lot of money.

This place served food with no flavor at all. The place seemed to be clean, but that is all that was good about it. There was a window that the cook shoved the food thru that had a curtain hanging down and when they would push the plate through it, it would scrap over every single plate. Disgusting. We will never go there again.

I have dined in Tia eateries all over the US. I have been eating at this restraunt for 15 years. This place is top shelf. Always great food and service. A beautiful, well kept and clean restaurant.

I always get the steak salad #35 with brown rice. So much flavor and such a generous portion. I've eaten here over a dozen times and every time the food is fresh and tasty.

We live in the valley and always make this a stop when we come up here for the weekend! The food is great! The owners are quiet but sweet and very hard working! Their tom ka gai is amazing! I'm very picky when it comes to this soup and mountain Thai does it right! We've had many of their dishes and are never disappointed... I truly don't understand the poor reviews... I can't stand it when people complain about the service... Who cares... You're in Pinteop... Relax for once!

We live in the area and have been patronizing Mountain Thai since they were literally a hole in the wall in a strip mall in Pinetop. They've moved (up) twice since then, to which I say -- bravo! Well earned! I've never been to Thailand, so I can't speak to the authenticity, but I know what tastes good and I know that the owner's wife, business partner, and kitchen queen has been producing it for many years. My tip -- check out the number of people who've been to/lived in Thailand and say that this food is on-point. Ignore the trolls. And I know you can tell the difference.

I don't know what was worse, the food or the service. They lack many vegetables that I often get at other Thai restaurants in the valley. The cucumber and tomato salad came out with no tomatoes. When she took the dish back all they did was toss some tomatoes on top without mixing them in the dressing. The eggrolls were decent but should have been cut. The miso soup was ok. Too many veggies for a tofu soup though. The food was all bland and boring. No one enjoyed their entrée (there were 6 of us). Our server said she has been there for over a month but she had no idea what was in any of the dishes. She was sooooo slow. Clueless and clearly waiting to go home. The guy working (not the crabby owner, but the teenage boy) was great. He came and helped us with everything we needed because our own server couldn't be bothered to earn her pay. Keep in mind, we still tipped her more than she deserved, I'm hoping she split it with him.

We were a large group of around 15 people with kids. When we entered we were hungry so were eager to have our food. What we got in return was yelling from the lady who I believe is the chef. She was upset over our kids making some noise now I know kids do make noise and they should not but comeon one should not yell at the customers for this. We could ignore that if the food was any tasty but daah it was not. very aweful thai food taste we had. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Instead drive 4 miles east to eat at Thai Promise cafe.

While my food was tasty, I agree with others that it was weird. The rice noodles were a bit translucent. I have had Thai food in three places in San Diego, CA and one place in Sacramento, CA and Mountain Thai does not measure up. The decor was nice.

I've been coming here for years and always leave satisfied and with a broadened palate. By far the best, most authentic Thai food on the mountain. Just the fact that they've managed to stay open this long in such a tough food service environment says a lot. Most of my other favorites restaurants have come and gone, but Mountain Thai is here to stay!

just got to get this out of the way first: there's a review below that complains about the egg rolls not being cut. how lazy do you have to be to complain about this AND hold it against the restaurant. that's just shitty. they give you a fork and knife. learn to use them. i think it's because of yahoos like this that this GREAT restaurant has only two stars. be better. my buddy and i had a phenomenal meal here. i got the yellow curry chicken and it was fantastic: not too spicy, just enough. i'm not privy to pineapple being in my curry but even it was good. my buddy had the roasted duck. it was a whole half of a duck, roasted perfectly with au jus, for $16. it's served with a full plate of rice or egg noodles and vegetables. i had two COLD beers and we got out of there for under $42 before tip. the staff was very friendly and nice and timely. i HIGHLY recommend Mountain Thai and i hope i return to the area to go back and murder more yellow curry chicken.

In a word...DISGUSTING! My wife and I have been wanting Thai food on the mountain for a long time and Mountain Thai seemed to be the only option. Despite always wanting to give it a try, something always seemed to be present a better option. Last night we went back to Salt and had another great meal so tonight we said, "What the hell"? Lets get us some Thai. Walking through the aluminum screen door entrance immediately appeals to the the trailer park crowd. The decor is what you would expect at an Asian garage sale. The only thing missing from the white refrigerator that sits in the middle of the dining room is a For Sale sign. My wife and I ordered two separate dishes that looked so identical that the waitress actually could not tell them apart and set them on the table for us to determine who's was who's! Not joking. Our immediate reaction was "OMG, this looks gross". Noodles were white and pasty and the entire plates looked bland and over-cooked. I am not exaggerating when I say we struggled to gain the courage to try them. As low as that expectation was, the food was worse. Not only was there no spices on them, we then realized they did not even ask how spicy we wanted it. Atypical for a Thai restaurant. This was the worst Thai food I had ever tasted and close to the worst FOOD I had ever tasted. My wife put in in a class with dog food. For the first time in our lives, after only 2-3 bites, we literally asked the waitress for a to-go box and walked out. We drove down the street and ate dinner someplace else. We chucked our to-go boxes in a dumpster in the parking lot of the next restaurant. I now know why the parking lot at Mountain Thai is rarely occupied. On the positive side, the Thai Beer Singhta (sp) wasn't bad if you like a lighter pilsner. Run! Run away!

Came here with 5 adults and 2 toddlers. Service and food were outstanding. They made it comfortable for the kids immediately, and a few of us were grumpy/hungry after searching for a place to eat. Waitress was very attentive, hustled, and pleasant. Came in at 6:30pm on a Saturday, June 2nd. I've had my share of Thai food, including several times in Thailand. They definitely provides several authentic options. One thing about Thai food in Thailand is that it's almost always very spicy. At Mountain Thai, they are very clear about how spicy their dishes are, and offer several non-spicy choices. Also have a surprisingly excellent beer selection, including quality brew from countries in SE Asia. I've been to Thai restaurants that did one or two dishes very well and were rated 5 star or close to it. This place does many dishes well. They serve most dishes combined on one plate, which is very common for Thai food in Thailand. Another thing I really like, was the food was not too greasy, like many mainstreamed Thai restaurants. In fact, I'd place it on the healthier end.

Food was excellent! Freshly made egg rolls and larger than most egg rolls! Service was friendly and quick. Recommend you stop here if you love Thai!!

Why we wanted Thai food in the White Mountains is unknown. Looking back, we were idiots. Mountain Thai serves edible food, and that's the best we can say for it. Try somewhere else if you're looking for good grub.

Worst Thai food ever! I have never seen a Thai place that goes wrong with fried rice! Worst phat Thai I have ever tasted! Please save yourself and do not eat here!

Very bad Thai food. Meals were flavorless and lacked meat and vegetables. Dishes were swimming in watered down gravy like sauces that made it seem more like a soup. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Hit this place up after a day of snowboarding at Sunrise. Yelp gave it OK reviews so I tried it out. Service was slow, unfriendly and just generally looked depressed. Atmosphere was kind of odd since it's a thai restaurant and the only music was this ridiculous elevator stuff. The noodles were soggy and bland. The beef wasn't special at all and left me wanting... Anything else to keep from falling asleep while eating. Presentation was a bowl with crap thrown in it, no care or "love" present in the dish. On a personal note HOW MANY BEAN SPROUTS DOES ONE BOWL OF PAHDT THAI NEED?!?!?!?!? Anyway, i'd pass on this place if your in town.
