Worst calzone ever. Waited 20 minutes for a calzone that has the most watery filling I'd ever seen in a calzone. The dough was completely under cooked and doughy around the edges and the bottom was just a soggy mess from soaking up all the liquid that ran out of it when I tried to cut into it. Sorry Strombolli's, scratching you off the list of decent restaurants.

Ended up here after trying to find another pizzeria that had relocated. The wait staff, while friendly, kept trying to upsize our drinks saying the bigger ones were much better value. The "best margaritas in town"were terrible and watered down. Was told that the calzones and personal pizzas were out but we could buy the bigger pizzas. I thought everything was made from the same dough unless you're using cookie cutter frozen dough? Food arrived was just ok but we don't go out to eat for "just ok" food. A ripe candidate for restaurant impossible.

Went in on Saturday, July 5th, for lunch. We had so loved the Flagstaff Stromboli's - but we didn't end up ordering what we always ordered at the Flagstaff location; which was the Greek Pizza. Maybe we were a little nervous, that it wouldn't be the same.. We both ordered calzones, I had the Tuscany, my husband ordered the Stromboli. The only thing we didn't receive, was the red sauce.. but in fairness, the calzones were delicious. The salad on the side was good, and fresh. And we both love that house dressing!! We also found out, that the owner was working in the kitchen that day -- maybe we should have ordered that Greek Pizza..

Stopped by here for a quick lunch while in Cotton-town, A-zee. The place is divided in two halves - one is a bar and the other a dining room. They must do a bang up business with the bar at night while serving good drinks, as the special menu of the day has not only food on it, but drinks as well. As for me and my son, we were hungry from ziplining earlier in the day (in Camp Verde, check out my review for Predator Zipline) and just wanted a simple lunch. I ordered half a sandwich and a salad, and my son ordered Fettucini Alfredo with chicken. My son loves pasta with Alfredo sauce and declared that his meal was delish. As for me, the salad was decent. Some people might think that a salad is a salad. But believe me, a lot of restaurants cannot do salad well. So I always thank my food god when a salad is well made. My half sandwich is a Ruben, and to my disappointment, either the sauerkraut or the meat has too much salt in it, and it made the sandwich quite salty. Based on that, I'd say Stromboli's is about average, and is so rated.

I've lived in Cottonwood now for over a year. I finally decided to give Strombolli's a try. I placed my order by phone for pickup. The order placing was great and uneventful. Upon arriving to pick up my lunch, I was ignored by staff for a couple of minutes. Once a staff member came to assist, she started processing my payment. My order came to $9.83. I gave the staff member a $20.00 bill. She had to go get the change from another area of the restaurant. Upon returning I was offered $10.00, minus the .17 cents. As the woman realized I was expecting my full change, she asked, "do you need the .17 cents?" I stated, "no." I was very put off at her natural assumption that I was fine living without my full changed owed to me. After leaving and getting home, I also found that no utensils were with my order, thank goodness I was eating this meal at home and not on the run. I had asked for Blue Cheese Dressing, but received Ranch. The Lasagna that I ordered was overly salted, so much so that I only took three bites of the Lasagna and have decided that it best belongs in the trash and not in my stomach. It's to bad that the staff are so poorly trained, as I might have overlooked the salty Lasagna as some form of mistake, but it appears the lack of training is threaded deeply at this establishment.

If your going to go here i would advise you to not expect much of an experience. I went to use the restroom and their is literally a hole punched in the door with a poster trying to cover it, but hey, if your into that then its the place for you.

The service is friendly and their pizza is good enough but here is my issue with Stromboli's (and let me take this opportunity to lament for the first time in the New Year the lack of good Italian food in the Western U.S.) It's NOT real Italian, just like P.F. Chang's is not real Chinese....you get my point. Their food is not bad but it falls victim to the same problem that other "Italian" restaurants fall to and that is VERY heavy food: The cheese is rich, the fried food FRIED, the pasta ok but uninspired and overall lackluster. I take on board that this is Cottonwood, not The North End and we're at Strombolli's and not Limoncello. There is a not-so-subtle art to good Italian food and they unfortunately fall short. That doesn't mean I won't eat here but coming here knowing that I will STILL be full the following afternoon doesn't appeal to me too much. If you arrive after the kitchen has closed, you have to take pizza in the bar which is interesting. There's nothing like eating pizza in the bar with my 70 year old parents being serenaded by f-bombs from the local patrons. Truth be told they take it in stride and the bartender who looks after us is always great. I've hit the bar on occasion sans the folks and it's not a bad time. I will say that their minnestrone is pretty damn good on a cold day.

Meh. Had a Calzone. Nothing to right home about. Wasn't good, wasn't horrible. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing.

It was ok. Nothing special or memorable, but the food was not bad and the service was acceptable.

We were there with a large crowd of girls for a softball tournament last weekend, Saturday, August 10th. The place was OLD, dirty and rundown. Not enough menus at all. I had to beg the hostess for one, she was NOT happy to give it up. The one I did get was torn and dirty. The tables were sticky. The service was slow, but the wait staff was nice and did their best. The kitchen staff needs to be more on the ball, we had reservations and they KNEW there were over 30 people coming. The drink orders got all screwed up and the waiter couldn't adjust off the bill, but he did come back with cash trying to make it right with one of the parents. I suspected he was doing that out of his own pocket because he felt bad and the Manager would not let him adjust the bill through the register. I had the fettuccine alfredo with chicken, what a gummy mess. My daughter had the kids spaghetti, which was really linguine noodles, but OK, same concept I suppose. The spaghetti sauce was so bad we had to send it back. I have never had to send back a kid's meal before, but they replaced with an alfredo sauce, which was as gummy of a mess as mine. The bread was nice, but that's about it. Hey guys, do a little repair work, fix the missing baseboards, fix the dry wall and for goodness sake, maybe spend 20 bucks on a gallon of paint? The carpet was dirty, dirty, dirty!!!!!! Oh and just because you are from NY, does not mean you automatically know how to make Italian food! I would never go back. DNR!

Strombolli's was alright, they took on our rather large, roller derby after-party. They did as best they could with as many people as we had. The food was decent and I loved the zucchini appetizer. The other dishes our party had looked alright too. Our server was great, but just couldn't keep up.

3/21/13 - wanted to take a break from campfire cooking. Decided to have pizza. We were going to take out but the friendly greeting by the waiter/server (Josh) enticed us to stay. Couldn't decide on a beer selection but Josh was quick to provide samples. Selected the local brew from Sedona which was quite good. House salad and pizza was fair but service was exceptional.

It was noon and service was quick. I had their version of a french dip. Nice thinly sliced steak and cheese, a good roll, side of Au jus. Fries on the side. They do OTB.

My wife and I were taken here for my birthday, there were six of us and not one was happy with, food, service or price. Price because the quality was not worth the price.Minestrone tasted like campbell,s , eggplant parmasan was soggy and barely warm. Salad was nothing but limp lettuce, as stated noone was impressed with what they had.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
