One of the unique places that we have as our own little secret in south east Arizona, but would welcome all. This is a place, where in my opinion you should take those who you enjoy spending quality time with. The atmosphere is soft, with a nice patio where an evening in its self could be sent. Reservations are highly recommended. If it is a evening for 2 or a group of 6 or so you will find each table unique and an fulling experience. This is a BYOB/W and if your forget there is a store across the parking lot for the forgetful ones. Service is excellent. Call and ask for the specials, they are truly daily!

I had the pleasure of going to Rosa's Little Italy when visiting the BF's mom and Bro who live in Themiddleofnowhere, AZ. BFM (Boyfriend's Mom) was super excited for us to eat there, and was raving as soon as we went out the night previous and ate at a cowpoke-friendly Meatery filled with deep-fried brown foods. Experience has forewarned me that it is very difficult to be a vegetarian in Themiddleofnowhere, USA unless I succumb to sucking on water logged, ranch coated, iceberg lettuce with a side of fried something--which I do-- and do with a smile if someone else is paying. So, really no complaints where the pickins is slim. BFM, being keen to my veggie plight, was excited for me that Rosa's not only had the best food that you could find anywhere--but a great deal of it can be made vegetarian. Italian always sounds better than aforementioned salad/fries combo--and I was eager to go. Thankfully, Rosa's lived up to BFM's hype. The staff was attentive and nice. I really liked that food started flying as soon as we were seated, which was right away. The decor made me feel like I was in an autentico ristorante with lots of rustic wood, dark beams, wrought iron detailing and pastoral scenes of Italia. Pretty stereotypical, but nice. And the food! Our bread basket was was crusty and warm--and never empty, and we were given different types of olive oil to dip it in. There were many vegetarian options, but I decided to go on something truly sinful, as there is no guilt on vacation. So, I order the worst thing that a human could put in their gullet, the Alfredo manacotti. Lemme tell you something, I was only able to eat half before I felt my arteries clog up with gooey cheese and rosemary infused cream sauce. If I did continue eating, I would have died, but I would have been stuffed and happy. My BF wasn't as impressed, by calling his entree safe-- and chalked up the hype to BFM's "unadventurous" palette. BFM mom and Bro were again impressed. I recommend making the effort if you are staying in nearby Bisbee--and you find yourself lacking any vegetarian options, but I doubt that you'd find yourself here in any other capacity (unless you are local--and probably know how yummy it is here.) Reservations were recommended, and it is a tad on the pricey side--but worth it!

One of our favorites. If you like cheese & garlic, you'll absolutely love this restaurant. Just get directions for the vicinity...your nose will take you the rest of the way. If you want their great lasagne, ask to reserve it when you reserve your table as they sell out early. Also, bring your own wine.

No. We have tried to eat here and the people are completely rude! You must have reservations. There are great places in Bisbee to eat and most places are very nice with great owners who want to wait on customers. This is not one of them!

My friends had their wedding rehearsal dinner here. Always an amazing spread at Rosa's. I am not normally one to eat veal, but the veal parmigana melts in your mouth. Their appetizer platter was amazing also (may not be available on the menu). They don't serve alcohol, so bring your bottle of wine and have a good time.

Great portions. Awesome manicotti. No corkage.

First off, do not try to dine without reservations. The owner is standoffish until she knows you are supposed to eat in her establishment. You also need to reserve their signature lasagna beforehand. If you don't, you can't eat it. The food is pretty good. There is also plenty of it. Be prepared to leave full. The do not take credit cards so have cash on hand. Our dinner for two ran about $60.

Quintessential mom and pop home-made Italian. Perfect place for 2-6 guests. Enormous portions that are generous with the cheese to say the least. Be sure to make a reservation and if you're even slightly interested in lasagna, let them know then. There were a few extra slices available the night we ate there, but that's not the norm. And the lasagna is a perfect example of enormous portions. I ate my fill and still had leftovers for two more meals. All dinners are accompanied by fresh baked bread, salad and a soup du jour. The place is BYO (but without a corkage fee), so come prepared. For rustic Italian in this part of the southwest, it can't be beaten. Totally a hidden gem!

Rosa's House of Slop. I had been told by so many people that I just had to try this place. I was also told reservations were required because it gets extremely busy. I made a reservation for a group of five. I was informed when I made the reservation that it was BYOB and cash only. When we arrived we soon realized we probably could have got in without reservations. The place was not very busy. They sat us in a room with tacky decor and a Christmas tree and lighting. Everything was very outdated and cheap looking. We were sat and given the menu. We were then served the wine we brought. We were immediately asked if we wanted an appetizer even though we hadn't even been given a chance to look over the menu. Next we were served olive oil with a sprig of rosemary even though we weren't served bread to accompany the oil until after we were served the first two courses of our meal. We ordered the mussels, which were terrible. They were in a thick sauce reminiscent of cracked wheat soup and the mussels themselves were very fishy and obviously not fresh. Next we were served a flavorless lentil soup. The broth of the soup tasted like pure water. After asking a second time for some bread they finally brought it. My friends noticed at one point that the bread was brought past us in plastic bags which were bought elsewhere and not made in the restaurant. The bread was warm and fresh tasting. Soon after we were served a sparse salad that consisted of mixed greens, one quarter slice of a tomato, two sweet pickle chips, two small green olives, a slice of a canned beet and a cut up slice of thin salami on top. The salad was topped off with a thick Italian dressing that was likely store bought and not made in house. They were not consistent with everyone's salad, for instance mine was missing the green olives and only one person of the five had a small slice of provolone. Once the main course arrived we were already underwhelmed by the restaurant. The portions were large which normally would be great. Those of us who ordered chicken meals immediately recognized the taste of those frozen boneless chicken you can buy in a bag at any grocery store. I ordered the chicken Marsala and it had so much sugar in the sauce it was like a marmalade. The cheese dishes were blanketed with a way higher cheese to pasta ratio. One of my friends had ordered the manicotti which she compared to a Michelina's frozen dinner but worse because it had no seasoning and the cheese and sauce was burnt to the plate. All the meals came with a side of spaghetti. The spaghetti itself was cold and the marinara sauce was warm so it was inedible until you mixed the two together. Again the sauce was overly sweet. All in all it was very disappointing considering all the other good restaurants there are in Bisbee and the almost four hour drive we made from Phoenix. The one star was for the only reasonable items which were the bread and the tiny salad. Don't waste your time coming here. Whatever this place used to have that gave them notoriety before they have definitely lost.

This is a not-to-be-missed restaurant in Bisbee! We're new to town and have only tried a few restaurants (primarily in the historic section) but my husband had heard about Rosa's. It's reservations-only and is only open a few days a week. The food was exceptional. I've been to Italy, I've been the the Little Italy section of San Francisco, and the same in Boston and New York, along with Biba's in Sacramento, and I have to say this was one of the best Italian meals I've ever had. And I'm a pretty good cook myself. Dinners come with soup, salad (a huge antipasto salad), fresh french bread right out of the oven, and then the entree, which is a huge serving. I had the peasant pasta, which was fabulous. My husband had the seafood canneloni special, which he said was also delicious. Meals are in the $17-19 range, which is good price for all of the food that comes with it. The owner, Colleen, is a very experienced restaurant owner, and she takes great pride in this restaurant, which has been in business for 29 years (22 in this location). We already have reservations for dinner again a week from today.

Yellow split pea with crouton was good and I hate split pea but if I'm out somewhere and told its great I'm willing to try it! Found this place because of yelp and I have to say everyone was right. It is a hole in the wall but amazing!! Call ahead for reservations as they are required. The pasta dishes were awesome! Even the tiramisu was heavenly. I had a manicotti alfredo/marinara dish because I decided to abandon my diet for something rich and I was not at all regretting it afterwards because it was so well done! ENJOY!

All the 5 star reviews here are on spot! I'm adding another one. From the outside you wouldn't think it was much, but once you step inside you feel like you've just walked into a quaint little Italian restaurant in North Beach San Francisco! In fact it was better. Your eyes will adjust to the darkness. Beautiful Italian music playing in the background, a real candle at your table and romantic booths. Like the other reviewers, when making your reservation (a must!) and you love LASAGNA, order it then! It's literally 3-4 inches wide and 12 inches long baked to perfection, light, fluffy and swimming in just the right amount of sauce - no doubt, you will have leftovers. SOUP, SALAD and BREAD (baked fresh from the oven) is included with your meal. This is the most authentic Italian salad I've ever had. More like an antipasta salad with the best creamy Italian dressing along with greens, black olives, sliced peppers, onions, sliced beets and a tomato wedge. The MINESTRONE SOUP was tasty and came with a crisy baguette slice. I had the CHICKEN TRIO (Chicken Pesto, Chicken Parmigiana and Chicken Alla Rosa). It came with a little pasta (that could have been hotter). But it was very tasty. The SERVICE is very good. The wait staff had that "expensive restaurant" touch. It's no big deal bringing your own wine as they don't charge a corkage fee and it keeps your bill down low which only came to $45 with the tip. This is a great find in Bisbee! Manja Manja!

Well perhaps I should call this review incomplete. By the time I finished my 2nd beer (BYOB), I noticed a large cockroach who had crawled under my table, and then back to the servers table. I tried, but couldn't go on. Noticed when I had them grab the rest of my beers, the fridge was dirty also. I've heard the portions are big enough to share, but this is ridiculous. Left and went to Cafe Roka--see review there.

Rosa's Little Italy is one of the treasures of Bisbee. Please promise me you won't visit this wonderful town without making a reservation to eat at this special place. My husband and I decided to have our first anniversary dinner here this past Sunday, and we cannot stop thinking about it! When we first entered the restaurant at 6:00, it was already full of happy diners (thank goodness we made a reservation!). The hostess brought us out through the front door and into another part of the building which looked like nothing special from the outside. My husband and I looked at each other, shrugged and continued in through the door. Once inside we felt like we entered another world. We were treated to a cushy, private booth with a flowered tablecloth and romantic candlelight. Perfect! We ordered the special which was Shrimp Cannelloni a la Rosa. This turned out to be one of the best dishes I have ever tasted! And it was served with a yummy side of Spaghetti Bolognese. But that's not all, because our dish also came with Minestrone and a beautiful salad of greens, sweet peppers, salami, tomatoes, cheese, beets and olives. Since it's BYOB, we brought a bottle of wine and even with a shared desert we left spending under $50 including tip. If only we had something like Rosa's Little Italy here if Phoenix...

Still full of Rosa's delicious food. We ate there last night. The only thing not entirely awesome about the experience was the older well-to-do couple next to us carrying on with words like "superb" and "lovely." Although, it was pretty entertaining watching the husband trying to coax tidbits out of his wife re: the goings-on within her Facebook app. Final thoughts - Great food, good times, and cheese.

We've been here before and the food was bubbling, cheesy goodness. Not anymore. If you are reading these reviews and thinking... What do they know, I remember-this place is great! Stop. Listen to me. Go to one of the other Bisbee hangouts. Really. I should have known when I called and got a reservation the same day. That never used to be possible. I should have known when I walked in and there was only one other table occupied. I ordered the chicken parm. My partner ordered the eggplant parm. The soup came, it tasted sweet, but was supposed to be vegetable rice. Next came the salad which wasn't too bad. Then the bread which was standard French bread...but it was warm. I'll give it that. Then the food came. It was huge, but my chicken parm was chicken primavera cannelloni. Not what I ordered. The waiter argued with me, then left it in front of me and went back to the kitchen. Then he came back and said it was his fault. He never offered a solution, never offered to go make chicken parm. So I said... You know what, this is so much food, I'll just share with my partner if you won't charge us the $10.95 split plate fee. He said ok. Then I said "you can take this back" and he said... Oh you can keep it. He also said "we messed up on another meal too... Do you want that?" I asked if it was chicken parm, it was not so I said no. We ate the eggplant and some of the wrong dish. All of it was mushy, gooey, and flavorless. He brought the bill and both dishes were on the bill. Are you kidding me? When I pointed out to him that he charged for both he said "well you ate it and I took a dollar off both dishes and didn't charge you the split plate fee." Are you kidding me? So then I informed him I was not paying for a meal I didn't order. The corrected bill came back... A dollar higher but only for one dish. How very sad that what had been a great restaurant has now turned into such a horrible dining experience all around. The wine was great! But since this is a bring your own bottle restaurant, I'll thank myself for that.

It's hard for me to believe this place has 4 stars. I notice most of the reviews are from a few years ago, they must be under new management or have a new chef bc this is one if the worst meals I have ever had at a restaurant in my entire life.

The most unremarkable food I've had in years. Makes Olive Garden look great. That's a sad commentary!

The food here is excellent, as an overall experience this place leaves lot to be desired. If you are a person who cares little about your actual dining experience, and just focuses on the food - this is a great place for you. For a "fine dining" experience I was disappointed. For one, the service is VERY slow. Everyone just kind of meanders around and takes their time - every water or tea I asked for was about a 10 minute wait. (The room had about 5 tables). The food ticket time was about one hour and 15 minutes for our four person table. Maybe this wouldn't have seemed so bad if our table consisted of something other than metal folding chairs. After 2 hours in this restaurant my rear end was ready to fall off. I think I've been more comfortable at funerals. We brought our own wine but Rosa's didn't have anyway to keep it chilled, ie - bucket, ice. The one other time we'd been here, our experience was better as it was just two people, we sat at a booth, and our service was better; however, the lady who sat us and holds the reservation book called us three times dinner to ask us if we were still coming. This is by reservation only and we gave her our name coming into the restaurant.....it was just really dumb.

Good home-made style Italian with a rustic atmosphere. HUGE portions and thoughtfully prepared food. Excellent salad, killer bread and tasty entrees. I've never had room for dessert but I suspect that is good as well. Make a reservation or you will be killed at the door (seriously)...

Do it! Don't need to read any reviews. This is the most guaranteed deliciousness I have ever experienced. But, if you don't like amazing food, a unique dining experience, and the best food you have ever eaten - mothers cooking included, then go somewhere else. On the otherhand, if you do enjoy delicious food, great portions, the best eating experience not only in Bisbee, but anywhere, then stop reading now, and call Rosa and reserve a table. The only problems you might have, is actually getting a table, as I have had to call months in advance before. The other major problem is that you will find yourself randomly craving some of Rosa's chicken breasts smothered in cheese, the best of which is the burnt cheese, or other various dishes she serves up, months - even years after. This place also has a tendency to make every Italian dish you had prior to or after pale in comparison, so when you are at Rosa's - savor it. I am writing this review after at least a year since being there. It doesn't get any better. And if you are still reading this, you are wasting your time - get to ROSA'S!!! Oh yeah, before I forget, this is a B.Y.O.B establishment. Meaning, you are able to Bring Your Own Bottle, not just any bottle, and not some over priced mark up, but you can bring your favorite bottle of wine, and they will happily open it and serve it for you - chill it even if needed. Enjoy!

My husband and I just visited Rosa's and I'm sorry to say it is one of the worst meals I've ever had in a restaurant. I had the chicken piccata and ate 2 bites and couldn't stomach another. It was literally floating in what I thought was butter but turned out to be canola oil and butter. The chicken was dry ( although how it could be dry when floating in so much grease I don't know) and flavorless. It came with a side of horribly dry spaghetti with a funky tasting marinara. Hubby had the veal marsala that was overdone and dry as well although he managed to eat about 1/2 of it. The server was great... very friendly, personable and apologetic. She brought us a free tiramisu to make up for the food (which we were charged for in full). It was horrible as well. It had practically no coffee flavor and weird sort of gritty texture.Thank goodness for the bread which we were told is shipped in from Chicago. It was hot and delicious. It was basically my whole meal as the rest was inedible. I hate to give a bad review because I want restaurants to be successful but when a meal is as bad as this one was it is warranted. My hope is that the chef was off for the night or something cause I don't know how they stay in business otherwise.

Have you ever brought your own bottle of wine to restaurant and enjoyed it with your meal? Now, I'm not talking about a bottle of Boones Farm at a shin-dig out in East Tennessee. If you enjoy great dining experiences then Rosas is a great place to enjoy a hearty Italian meal with a great ambiance. Rosa's Little Italy is a jewel hidden in Southern Arizona in a quaint hippy town known of Bisbee. If you're a displaced Austinite, like me, and crave the local fare where it is okay to just be yourself without worry of others then come to Bisbee and enjoy the fine dining experience at Rosa's Little Italy. This is a perfect place for a dinner with a best friend or a romantic dinner date with your honey. Bring a big appetite because the portions are huge.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
