Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

In my opinion, this is my favorite place to come to just hang out and chill. It's not outrageously busy like Fat Jack's or Shooters. It is a pretty laid back place. Restored in Downtown Texarkana. The food is amazing, the staff is very friendly. This place stays very clean. Good bands. I'm not much into bars and such, but if I had to go somewhere, I would want to go here!

A welcome surprise for the foodie traveler. High end vittles served at working class prices, with great attention to detail. Jalapeno Poppers were world class and not what we expected. Skip the chains by the highway and enjoy the short drive into downtown Texarkana.

Perfect BLT! Great place to eat lunch downtown.

Having moved here from Dallas, I was shocked that there were no patio bars, not facing the interstate....Great patio, great friends, and now they have a flat screen outside. The upside is that I live 3 blocks away and feel responsible for their increased revenue at happy hour. Good Stuff!!. FYI, the best music venue around.

Best BLT I've ever eaten. The bacon was perfect, the tomato in season and ripe, lettuce crispy., all on buttered toast with mayo. .The beer battered onion rings were also fantastic. Draft beer is ice cold! Service was excellent.

They allow smoking, so be prepared for that stale smell, not to mention your table neighbors blowing smoke at you. This might be the best local restaurant in Texarkana, so I will return here. The owner was in, and he was exceptionally friendly. He talked over the entire menu with us, and I could tell he was passionate about his business and his carefully-selected menu. Unfortunately, passion in an owner doesn't always translate into passionate execution by the employees. They don't have enough servers, so service was exceptionally slow. I had serious trouble getting refills from the bar. The food...has serious potential. I could tell there was thought put into the pairings and recipes, but it just wasn't executed well. My sandwich was supposed to have a horseradish cream sauce....that tasted nothing of horseradish (and there wasn't enough of it anyway). There was nowhere near enough meat on the sandwich. The nachos were quite good, but come on...how hard is it to execute good nachos? The fries were very tasty and fresh. Atmosphere is fun and laid-back. It was a weeknight, so no live entertainment, but this place is clearly set up for it to take center stage. It might be fun for the weekend (minus the smoke, but alas) to listen to live music, have beers (sit at the bar for better service), and maybe some small bites.

Perpetually crowded and loud, Hopkins usually features good music and seems to be home to the older crowd of night owls in Texarkana. I've never had a great night here, but I've never had a terrible one either, and the drinks are cheap enough to compensate for the mediocrity.

Perfect dive hangout to hang with friends, meet new friends, and have some beers. Typical bar food, but it was good. The service was good too. No waiting. We went in the middle of the day when it was slow. I would definitely go back here when I get back to town.

I live a few blocks away and would love to it there, but it is too smokey to eat. The drinks are reasonably priced and worth it. The place has a $5 or more cover as a standard despite only being a bar. This confuses me. Without the cover, I would regularly have drinks there in the spring and fall when the windows could be open.

Pretty cool place overall. I like being downtown, and the food and drinks at Hopkins are pretty good. I do not prefer to have smoking inside though. I've seen a couple of pretty bad incidents with staff in the past and it left a bad impression on me, but I may go there again in the near future. This is one of the few good spots downtown to be.

Food is average. .takes forever. Owner is sloshy drunk. Alcohol is wattery. Crowd is scary. Music is terrible usually.

I went here for Sunday brunch after church with a few people and had a nice brunch. We were under the impression that they were an 21+ joint but apparently they are open to all ages until 2pm so it worked out for us. Parking is along the street or across the street at a public lot but parking's never really a problem in Texarkana. We ordered between us a few appetizers and then each had a dish. One of the guys joined later and ordered a Texan which 2 others had also ordered. Whatever mishap happened we never got the third and that just perturbed us but it worked out fine in the end. It happens, and it just sucks that it happened to us. I guess I was in a good mood cuz I would usually rip that to shreds. Anyways the server was working the room and patio all by herself so she was having a rough time. I don't envy her. Anyways, food. I had the hot chick eggs benedict and it was really good. I don't like my eggs benedict the way most people seem to, but since I do really like it when it's done the way I like it, I still order it often and I know that Hopkins Icehouse does it my way! I don't know what way that is but it was perfect for me.

While traveling cross country, we stopped by in Texarkana because well... Road signs had mentioned it for quite awhile, so we thought it was a big town. That and we found this place on Yelp so we were excited to try it. Driving into Texarkana, we were a bit surprised at how ghost town like it was. Around the area this restaurant was anyway. I've since heard from a friend that there is a more populated area of Texarkana, but this area was DEAD. Hopkins, however, was an extremely pleasant surprise. Not only was the decor exactly what I look for in a local hometown kind of place, but the food was delicious as well! The place was empty, but we sat outside and watched some locals walking around. It was a beautiful day, and we really enjoyed our time there. We had the veggie panini and the Italian, both of which were great. The Italian has some nice spice to it which I loved, and the fries that I got with them were very tasty too. The only downside I could say are the prices. I mean, don't get me wrong they're not expensive, but being so in the middle of nowhere we kind of expected really cheap. It was about on par with most nice lunch places anywhere. Either way, the great food made it worth it!

The chips and cheese dip was wonderful. It had fresh pico in it. The sandwiches were also wonderful! Fries were a little salty but otherwise great! I would send a friend here to get dinner! I do hope they support the Perot Theatre it brings people into the area who will bring business to their place!

  • Robert G.

A four minute mile in four minutes, one second. Everything was 5-star... except that. Know what I mean? The fries were the kettle chip version of fries... except they were cold. The BBQ burger was excellent...except the burger was too small for the bun. I took three bites before I ran into beef. The waitress was excellent, friendly and knowledgable about the menu...except she didn't check on us. I had the feeling the owner wasn't in that day. If it weren't for the "excepts", I would rated this place an easy four, maybe five.

Excellent place to relax and unwind. Expert staff, great specials, and good libations. If you are looking for that "authentic, local bar/grill" this is it. Worth the drive from your hotel on I-30, or wherever!

If you like hanging out in a place with some history this is a great spot to be. The food did not disappoint either. We had a chili burger and Hawaiian pizza and they were very good. Fast service and a friendly staff. I will definitely be visiting the old icehouse next time I am in town.

We are two Swedes road tripping through the US, and spent last night in Texarkana on our way to Memphis. Stopping in a small town we really wanted to find a genuine local bar. The Hopkins had all we could hope for with lovely staff, great atmosphere, a cool live band and very tasty food. The evening was one of our best experiences on our trip!

Went there with family great food and great people take the time to wait on u. People r very friendly!!! can't go wrong!

    (5)
  • Connie B.

Even though it is open Sundays and reviewers said they went with their family and were served a breakfast menu, it is not a family's place and is no kids allowed. Only the bar area was open and had a sign that said no one under 21 allowed. I am fine with that I just wish that the Yelp reviews had referenced that so I could avoid the detour on our trip. Yes I know that icehouse and ale house mean a bar or pub, but there are a lot of restaurants who use those terms that still have a seating for daytime diners. So the one star is not based on food, but just to give the note to others traveling thru that this place is only a bar.

  • Nikki M.

WOW!!! The food is great! The music on Friday and Saturdays is good. The only downfall is they allow cigaret smoking but don't allow cigars! :(

Have been back several times and it's just so much fun and the food is as great as it can be !!! when they sat it's all fresh and made "in house" ... believe them!! Onion rings are super and try the muffalotas .... it's locally owned by a couple of guys who do it right!!

Exceptional service. Really good food with a wide selection of wood fire pizzas, salads and bar food. DO NOT MISS!

We stopped for the night on the way to Dallas and tried this place because it was the top-rated restaurant in Texarkana on Yelp. We sadly were disappointed: ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere is casual and even fun. It seems to be primarily a bar, and I would rate it higher as a bar. The one negative to the atmosphere is smoking is allowed throughout the place, and the air had that dirty, smelly feeling to it even when people weren't smoking. If we had known it was a smoky bar we would have gone elsewhere. Also, the $2 mimosas mentioned in other reviews end at 3pm on Sundays. They are still available for double that price. SERVICE: The restaurant had only one young woman to host, manage the bar and serve every table in the place. She was hard-working if curt, but the place needed more servers. So the overall service was so-so. FOOD: The big negative to our experience was the food. I travel a lot and eat at a wide variety of places, but this was the first time I can remember taking one bite of something and stopping. At the server's suggestion I got the Hopkins Roast Beef sandwich which was supposed to come with a side of horseradish cream, I believe. I also got the onion rings. My partner got the Reuben. The plate arrived with the onion rings cold. They had set there awhile. Otherwise they were good onion rings. The sandwiches turned out to be paninis with little meat in them. The roast beef had this odd sweet flavor that immediately tasted like the meat was spoiled. I sniffed it and think it was just the weird sauce. I tried a second bite with this seeming soy sauce that came with it but frankly I thought it was disgusting. I ate my onion rings and stopped. My partner ate half his Reuben and stopped. There was almost no 1000 Island dressing and little meat or kraut in the panini. The weird part was that the sandwich seemed to have some sort of processed cheese melted on it instead of actual, real cheese. The server noticed I had eaten only two bites of the panini. I responded I didn't care for it but thanked her for the recommendation. To the server's credit the server offered to get me something else free, but I declined after seeing the two sandwiches. We paid (sandwich was not comped) and went through a drive through on the way back to the motel. SUMMARY: As a smoky bar with a good atmosphere, I recommend this place but don't eat here.

I was driving through here on my way to Dallas from DC and was very pleasantly surprised. All in all, this place was awesome. If you happen to be visiting the town or driving through, this needs to be mandatory pit stop. It is in a small town, when I arrived it looked like a ghost town early on a Sunday morning around 10:30am. After snapping a few pictures at the state line (Texas / Arkansas), we were hungry. Luckily we stumbled onto this place which opens from 11am-11pm on Sundays, and the best part: $2 mimosas!! Yes, I was ecstatic too. Mimosas aside, the food was really good also. I had the Denver omelette, all very well done. I also had some of their breakfast pizza, which was REALLY good. I'm from Chicago and have had my share of pizzas, but never a "breakfast" pizza. This pizza has egg, cheese, sausage, canadian bacon, tomato, and onion. All in a traditional pizza type crust. It may sound a little weird, but once you take that first bite, you'll be hooked. I especially loved that the crust had a pretzel like taste qualities, with a hint of salt and just enough crispiness. Check it out, I look forward to other people's reviews.

As first-timers to both Texarkana and Hopkins Icehouse, we weren't sure what to expect, but they blew the roof on anything we could have anticipated! Motz had the reuben with smoked corned beef and onion rings (I am not a fan of reubens, and even *I* liked this one, and the onion rings were hands down the best I have ever tasted), and I had the chipotle burger, which was HUGE (half came home in a doggy bag), and a side salad. That little salad packed more "ooomph" then many much larger salads I've had; the burger? Man! Simply the best! If you are even CLOSE to Texarkana, you need to drive in to sample the fare here, you will NOT be disappointed. The atmosphere is phenomenal, and the owners chatted us up about the history of the place; originally a Model T dealership way back when, then a feed store for 80-some years. The place has a very "old" feel to it (in a good way), but has a classy and fun vibe. All of the staff are super friendly, and make sure to try your hand at the old sailer's game: a hook and rope in the middle of the room. I won't give it away, you'll have to ask. :) I'd give this place 10 stars if I could!

I lived in Texarkana over 10 years ago and unfortunately this place was not around then. Awesome atmosphere, good food and a nice selection of beers. I live on the west coast now but its nice to have an awesome spot that I can meet up with old friends over food and drinks when I come back for a few days. A must visit if you're travelling through. A must "home away from home" if you live in Texarkana.

It's really too bad the woman at the door is so rude. We visited this establishment frequently for dinner before the "bar crowd," but were really put off when she chose to turn us away rather than allow us to eat outside without paying the bar's cover fee. Ridiculous!

  • Cecil W.

When I want to go out, but not be annoyed by the typical local crowd. The beer selection is nice and they know how to mix drinks fairly well. It's the only place to get a pint bottle in the city and they have Rogue varieties and Abita.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Not a bad little selection of beers. I didn't have any of the mixed dinks on the menu, but they looked good. I had the Basil Cashew Chicken salad sandwich. I liked the basil cashew pesto, the chicken salad was little mayonaisey but still good. I also had the gumbo, that was pretty good. Next time I'm in Texarkana I will probably check out this place again.

I had been looking for a biker friendly bar we could ride to on our romantic getaway and wow did this place really provide exactly what we needed. We started with buffalo chicken dip. Although good nothing fancy. But the burger was to die for. We got the Chipotle Burger but the entire menu looked yummy. The decor was cool and looked the live music would have been good too. We would have stayed but had already made plans. If we visit again this we definitely be one of our stops.

If you've ever been to Texarakana you know its no metropolis! They have all kinds of chain places to choose from and be miserable, but we stumbled on this little gem in the downtown. I wish we had gone the first night we saw it instead of outback... but you live and learn. Smoking indoors seems to be old fashioned popular in Texarkana... at least it wasn't so crowded that it spoiled the food, but it is noticible. So if your a smoker, this is your place, if your not... you should concider the issue. On to the beer... nice cold, plenty on tab to be served up. The food was so surprising for a "bar"... it was outstanding. I'm still dreaming about their "hot italian" panini... why can't I get that were I live in Dallas! The Jalapeno app is a must do, the queso was good as well. Everything we all ordered was just ridiculously yummy... curl your toes yummy. The wait staff were so damn on top of it my head was spinning and they sit down to take your order (if theirs room). I personally like that, cozy, how you doin feel... you may not. There wasn't any live music when we went during the week, but we wished we had tried this place on night number one! It would have had our biz all week. If we return to Texarkana, we'll be at the Icehouse!

I have been eating at Hopkins for at least two years and have never had a meal I didn't enjoy. Fun place, great food, great service. I particularly like five dollar pizza Monday and all the sports on all the TV's. Thanks to all the guys and gals at Hopkins who "know my name".

After reading the other reviews here on Yelp, I skipped dinner at Chili's to find this place. And I'm glad I did. First off, the decor is awesome, like a combination of old time domino parlor and a honky tonk. The doors were open because the weather was nice and cool, so I walked in, grabbed a table, and was quickly greeted by Samantha, my waitress. She was informative and friendly, and kept coming by the table to see how I was doing and to shoot the shit a time or two. And her suggestion was dead on...for a guy who lives in a "burger town" I was skeptical about getting one in the sticks. But this was one of the best burgers I've ever had. I think the bun was homemade, and the flavors surprised me. I couldn't believe the fantastic food that was coming out of this kitchen. And beers were only $2!!! I meant to stay just for dinner, but the food, service, and prices made me stay throughout the night. Next time I'm in Texarkana, I'll be eating here!

I've been to Texarkana numerous times, but had not had a chance to try out Hopkins Icehouse. I have to admit that within 5 minutes of entering the place, I was pleasantly surprised. When in town I will DEFINITELY be stopping back in! Leo the (female) bartender is great!!

  • David P.

I'll tell you what I like about this place. The ring-on-a-string game! It's right in the middle of the bar and it inconveniences everyone else in the place, but it sure is fun. You basically have a ring tied to the ceiling and you try to swing it onto a hook on the wall. Sounds stupid, but it's awesome.

    (4)
  • A C.

The only reason Hopkins didnt get a perfect 5 star rating is...well..nothing is perfect. But do take the time to go to the "Hop" for a great burger, or a Hop Dog. If you want a good pizza pie, its hard to beat any of the hand-tossed pies on the menu. Wash it all down with a draft beer from the 34F taps and enjoy a pick-up game of "ring game" with a fellow Hopkinite. I will be back soon!

    (4)
  • Kindra K.

Hopkins Icehouse has surprisingly good food. Yes I know it's a bar. But the pizzas are fresh, hot and wonderful! It's hard to beat a hot hand tossed pizza right out of the oven! The Margarita Pizza (add chokes) is my favourite! Hot Chick is awesome! Not too hot, but just enough spice so that beer goes down real nice! I have eaten a few slices of several different pizzas and all were good. If you would rather have a sandwich.. Rueben's are really good. The roast beef one that has au jus on the side is wonderful! I have seen more awesome looking sandwiches go out the window, but haven't tried them yet. If you want to live on the lighter side, the salads are great! I always get the tomato stack. It's sliced tomatoes & mozzarella with fresh basil and balsamic vinaigrette. Yum! As far as hot dogs go, I have had the Hopkins dog and the Coney dog. They serve Nathan's hot dogs here folks! Not some mix & match chicken/beef/pork/tongues and toenails crap! Just need a snack with your beer? They have several dips, buffalo, queso, and spinach. Or if you would like some stuffed jalapenos or mushrooms, well they have those too.

Excellent place to relax and unwind. Expert staff, great specials, and good libations. If you are looking for that "authentic, local bar/grill" this is it. Worth the drive from your hotel on I-30, or wherever!

WOW!!! The food is great! The music on Friday and Saturdays is good. The only downfall is they allow cigaret smoking but don't allow cigars! :(
