Long overdue review! I came here for lunch on a day when I had my car worked on down the street for 5 hours, and needed some good eating that wasn't of the vending machine nor fast food type. There were several other nearby restaurants that were packed, yet On The Border seemed to be reasonably full and welcoming at the time. As my custom, I usually get the chicken fajita trio combo ($12.99) with black beans and rice. Its what works for me. I sat at the bar, of which the bartender (though nice and pleasant), seemingly was overwhelmed in serving nearby tables as well as the several people that were sitting near me. As a result, service was a little slow. I didn't mind that aspect so much, considering that the bartender kept my chips basket full at all times. The salsa was a bit mild, yet okay. One brew wasn't as hoppy, yet the other one was, which is what I stuck with for the remainder of the lunch. Even though OTB is a chain restaurant with plenty of locations throughout the southwest, each location has its own type of flavor and panache. This one, while comfortable, seems to have the feeling of being understaffed during peak hours. Nonetheless, the food quality is actually pretty decent.

On the Border is a chain restaurant that usually has very good food for being a chain restaurant that is . For some reason this place really misses the mark . I don't know if it's just beingin Arkansas, but food and service seems to suffer when the same chain restaurant seems to serve better food on other States. The staff was downright rude , they're more interested in texting then doing their job . I won't miss it much the food wasn't that good and I sure won't miss the staff.

I have only eaten here once. I have to say the food was really good, but must admit it was soooo loud in there. It is a large, open, loud space. So just keep that in mind.

Hands down the rudest hostesses ive ever experienced. Most bad restaurant at least wait until you are seated to show their colors. We enjoy the food but will definately be finding a different location.

I usually eat at on the border in Phoenix , this one was just as good! Chips come early with a nice mild salsa. I had fajitas with extra guacamole, it was spot on! They also have a dozen beers on tap to wash it all down. Overall this was a good experience I would recommend.

Been there three times. Will NOT be back. First time there nothing was right. Very very loud could barely hear people at my table. Waitress dumped water in my food not even a sorry. Second time was only because I had a coupon. Food was ok. Not as loud but still was loud. Better service. Third time. Back to being very loud. Bad service. Had a all u can eat placed a reorder on something. 25 min later nothing. Never got it.

We tried this place tonight because my husband had heard it was good. I'm only giving two starts because the food wasn't that good, in fact afterwards my husband started having stomach issues if you know what I mean. Our waitress was really good and the brownie was awesome but food wise I was expecting more flavor or something for the price. We will not be going back, it's not worth it.

I recently ate here and oh my gosh the fajitas were AWESOME!!! Really the best I've had anywhere. The atmosphere was upbeat and lively. The staff was super nice and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Give me real Tex Mex and I'm a fan! This is a newer restaurant so I'm giving them a break on the slow service until they can get their crew trained and turnover under control. The food is great. Being a native Texan I have been waiting for real Tex Mex in the Little Rock area for quite a while. With the addition of Cantina Laredo in Little Rock and Chuy's in West Little Rock I was beginning to feel left out over here. Thank you On The Border for filling a hole. If we were in Texas this place wouldn't rate as high. There are plenty of places there that are better, but you're going to be hard pressed to find better mexican food in the North Little Rock/Sherwood area. That's my opinion, because I like mexican food with the Tex Mex flavor, not the bland mexican food that Central Arkansans have been eating for years. I have had my share of local Mexican food since moving here in 2007 and I honestly have not found a place where I wouldn't rather cook it myself than go back besides the two mentioned above (also originating in TX).

Have been here before at its West Little Rock location and it wasn't bad. However this recent visit to its newer location was less than great. Our waitress was awful! Never offered a refill, got our orders wrong, messed up the check and the list goes on. Even giving her a break the food was really not that great. It was very bland and over priced. The atmosphere was nice yet still feels like it lacked something. I will probably not return to this place. They seem to try hard but they fell short tonight.

The food was okay-ish, the cheese dip amazing but the best part was the waitress. She was super nice and worked hard.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
