Several of the posts stated that the service here is a little slow. Those reviewers need to learn to live life at a slower pace. I've been to Kelts a couple of times, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times we were waited seated and waited on instantly. The food takes a little time to reach the table because there was only one person working for lunch and a couple for dinner. You need to understand that part of the wait is the fact that the food is cooked to order. For lunch I had a blue cheese burger and my daughter had some kind of steak sandwich. Both were out of this world. For dinner I had a ribeye steak the size of small child. I'm talking this thing was huge! It also came with three types of sauce on the side, each was better than the last. My wife had a pork medallion that was thick enough to have it's own zipcode. It was smothered in a wine reduction and it was delicious. For an old world experience, check out Kelts.

My boyfriend and I were starving after an Altus wine-tasting experience, and this was the only restaurant that we could find in the area. The wait was a little long (I think there was only one man working at the time), but the food was tasty and hit the spot. We both ordered the fish sandwich, which came with a small salad topped with homemade dressing. Everything tasted great and was eaten within minutes, but the wait was killer (I was so hungry!). We ordered some wine as well, which was good, although my boyfriend found several small pieces of cork in his glass. I liked the grungy, sort of living-room-esque atmosphere. The lighting was very dim. Overall, it was a good experience, I think that an extra person working would be a great help!

Kelts is not your typical bar. Often just the owner is working, so if he has several customers, you might have to wait just a bit. But if you are willing to slow down and relax, it's really a nice quaint place to spend some time. The food is excellent and he has a nice selection of beers and wines (I recommend the pear cider). Get the Reuben for lunch. Free Wifi too. I've enjoyed every visit. Recommended.

EDIT 11/21/13: Yelp is *still* showing this restaurant in the wrong location! It is located in downtown Altus, for goodness' sake, NOT in the middle of an empty cornfield 6 miles away! If Yelp provided a way to enter the correct location I could fix it, but Yelp does not! This is a nice little restaurant that unfortunately has been shown at the wrong location on the Yelp map for quite some time now. I live in the area and so I knew where it was located, but a Yelp search listed Kelts as being about a 35 minute drive away, on the other side of the Arkansas River! I have submitted the correct location to the Yelp "powers that be", so hopefully Yelp will soon show the correct location for those who like to do a map search. My wife and I have eaten here twice now, once for lunch and once for supper. The reuben sandwich I had for lunch a few months ago was excellent. Four of us ate at Kelts last night, and we had 2 different dishes - the Spiced Shrimp and the Pork Tenderloin. Both were good, and the price was reasonable. Perhaps best of all is the atmosphere and the draft beer selection. Kelts is quiet, and there is an intimate character to the place. Jazz-type music was playing softly in the background, and went well with the long, attractive wooden bar. The New Belgian 1554 ale is the draft beer that I ordered both times I have visited Kelts, and it is excellent. Kelts is a terrific place to stop for lunch or supper if one is doing a tour of the Arkansas wineries located nearby!

Kelts has become a tradition for me and my friends, ever since our first wine tour in Altus. We toured all the local vineyards, and sampled all the wine of course. We were buzzed and starving, and found ourselves in the tiny town square looking at a couple of local restaurants. We decided on Kelts, and I have been addicted ever since. It's very reminiscent of a British pub, with a big wooden bar, low lighting and mismatched furniture. The staff is very friendly and the beers very cold. The menu doesn't change much, but offers a variety of favorites, such as bangers and onions, a Reuben sandwich, a delicious pub burger and a grilled Tilapia sandwich. For dinner there are ribeye steaks, baked salmon, chicken bernaise, spicy grilled shrimp, etc. They also serve brunch on Sunday from noon-3pm. If you ever see potato salad on the menu, TRY IT! It's the most interesting combination of herbs I've ever tasted, but the last several times I've been they say they don't make it anymore. But I'm not giving up hope! All-in-all, this is a wonderful place to finish off your wine tasting tour of Altus, AR. I make it a point to go back every time that I'm in the area, and you should too.

Horrible experience. This was my second time going and the lady/hostess/waitress was once again running around nervously trying to take care of everyone. Her doing everything by herself took forever to get a beer and order our food. We asked her to bring us two beers at a time but she would not. Beer taps were out of service and they ran out of beer and food. She says the food is rich tasting but it is clearly just plain salty. What should have been an hour and a half service turned into a 5 hour service. Will not be going back.

Had lunch at Kelts on 7/28/12. Ordered the blue cheese burger, which came with a potato type salad. The food was amazingly good. Expect to wait some time for your order, as they cook to order, and take their time. However, it was well worth the wait. Only minor issue was the burger was cooked well done - I prefer medium well. Anytime I'm in the area, I plan on stopping back in.
