Just finished dinner at the Avenue Pub and it was incredible! For starters..the dirty martini was perfect! I have to agree with all of the folks who have raved about the burger!! Better than burgers at the Vortex in Atlanta!!! That is the ultimate honor! My dining companion had the fish and chips...equally phenomenal!! The service was great..can't wait to return!! You must try this place!!!!

Best burger in Tuscaloosa! A little more pricey than I would prefer, but still great. Only other downside I can think of is that it smells like cigarettes in there. Food still makes up for it.

Good pub fries enough for 3 or more to share and taste great! The black beans and rice are soooo good! The order of fish and chips is enough to feed two people. A great pub atmosphere with great food.

Probably the best burger in town. In fact, everything I have tried there is very good! It's great to get brunch or snag a 5.00 double mimosa! Not a lot of tables, but well worth the wait :)

Great lunch burger; juicy (greasey?). Who cares? It was great. Even the grilled asparagus had great flavor. Service was good too.

Lunch today and glad we decided to go here.....we had burger and fish and chips....both excellent. Fries with both meals, because fries are great! Cod was very crisp albeit slightly greasy but delish. Their burgers are to die for. Busy with crowd but efficient wait staff.....definitely go back.

Great for breakfast, or a burger. I think the restaurant is a lot better than going the pub to drink. 4 stars for the food 3 for the bar.

They are doing things right here. Their cocktails are fabulous. Bloody Mary mix is made in house and sooo delish. Juice is also fresh squeezed and you can taste the difference! Try a Salty Dog, it's amaze. Have only eaten here once and remember it being good (it was awhile ago) but recently went with a friend who ordered a burger with an egg on it and it was pretty damn beautiful.

Went for Sunday brunch while visiting our son. The burger was very tasty as was the Chicken Club. Nice beer selection but was disappointed in the Mimosa.

First stop in Tuscaloosa to visit the University of Alabama. Picked this place based on Yelp! reviews. Our party of 6 had a 30 minute wait around 6:00 pm. Upscale pub food. The menu is not overwhelming. Hubby and daughter really liked the fish & chips. My burger was good. Fries are really good...on the greasy side but so yummy! My other daughter got the chicken bites appetizer and loaded pub fries appetizer. Service was good. We would go there again.

I've heard great things about this place and it lived up to it's word. My boyfriend usually orders Steak and Eggs whenever we go out for brunch at any place, and he claims theirs to by far be the best quality of steak and perfectly cooked. However, on the menu it did not let us know that rice and black beans would be included on his plate but it was a pleasant surprise. I got chicken biscuit with gravy and it was wonderful as well. Moist chicken and crunchy breading. Wasn't a big fan of the biscuit though (on the dry side). We were quickly seated and service was prompt and food arrived fast as well. Definitely would come back and definitely recommend to anyone!

I had the fish tacos and the wife had parm crusted chicken, both were excellent also got the Thai nachos these were great. Service was efficient and friendly, overall no complaints.

I really want to write a good review because this place is so cool inside and has live music however the food was not that good at all. In fact my wife's rice was way undercooked and my pork chop sandwich was way over cooked. They were very busy as families were dropping kids off at UA, we were one of them. I don't know if this contributed to the poor food quality. On the bright side they had lots of local beers and did a great job identifying where they were from and their alcohol content. I will absolutely give them another chance next time we visit and hope the food quality is better as most reviews have identified. Wait staff was great!

I enjoy coming to Avenue Pub for both the food and drink. I will say that, although the type of food they serve is not my favorite (think, upscale pub food) and, I think, might be priced a bit high, I like the atmosphere and the drink options. They've got a good selection of local beer on draft and also do a good job with cocktails. I've had several of their cocktail selections and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the Bloody Mary and the gin mill. I also think they've done a good job with their brunch menu...there's more to offer than Five, down the street, for a better price. MTheir menu says that they have live music every Saturday from 12-4 and, although I've never been, I think that sounds pretty neat and I would certainly like to try it out sometime. My favorite menu items are the Spinach Salad for lunch and the Huevos Rancheros for brunch. There's also a cheesy jalapeño dip that is out of this world. Definitely check it out!

Ate here with a few co-workers. I heard it was a good place to eat lunch at so decided to give it a chance. Pros: -The decor is amazing. The environment felt very relaxed and welcoming. -I got the bacon burger and it was amazing. I was so full from the burger that I couldn't finish the fries. I will make sure to upload a picture of it. -Customer service is top notch. The waitresses were very friendly. Cons: -The only con I can think of is the smell of cigarette smoke coming from the bars next door. I know it's nothing The Avenue Pub can do about it so it wasn't a huge turn off.

I'm a fan of this new Tuscaloosa pub because it exudes great customer service, food, and drinks! The Avenue Pub also has a great casual vibe yet a polished interior with interesting metal work décor, local art, and breweries spotlighted on the wall. My favorite area is the upstairs dining space that overlooks the lower level. It has three large televisions for viewing sports and plenty of seating. The pub is a fabulous place to get a meal and drinks before an Alabama football game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. It is also a relaxing place to catch the game if you cannot secure game day tickets. My table enjoyed the following menu options and drinks: *Thai Chicken Nachos - The sweet, spicy, and tangy nachos came with grilled chicken, freshly fried chips, peanut and Sriracha sauce, and fresh green onions. *Pub Fries - We ordered the hand-cut fries without bacon and it came with mozzarella and parmesan cheese. *Parmesan Chicken - The plate came with parmesan breaded chicken on a bead of rice with grilled asparagus. *Fish Tacos - The plate came with two pan-seared Cod tacos topped with house-made tarter sauce, queso fresco, red onions, and cilantro. It was served with black beans and rice on the side. *Berry Bash Cocktail - This is a sinfully sweet but strong cocktail. It is served in a mason jar and comes with rum, freshly squeezed lime juice, blueberries, and strawberries. In my case, I substituted the strawberries with kiwi. Everything my table sampled was great and the attentive staff even chatted about local food and the bustling brewing scene in Tuscaloosa with me. I enjoyed my first visit and definitely plan to come back to this great little spot in T-Town!

Great atmosphere. Eating at the bar cause wait. Owner has this place to a system. Efficient and great food. And live music always around the corner. Their Sunday brunch rocks. Pricey but bet the burger size is more than you can bite.

I would TOTALLY go 4 1/2 stars to start if it were an option. But, I have Gotta say that this is an EXCEPTIONAL Place. Great understated Industrial, rustic decor. Service was spot on at every level. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about menu items in a very helpful way. And, the food......WOW!!!!!! My Amazing GF (Beth Ann Godwin) and I shared the Thai Chicken Nachos which were so so awesome! The Fried noodles, Grilled chicken and Peanut sauce topped with hot (Sirracha) sauce was delish!!! We had the Bacon Cheese Burger. I gotta say that I don't think that my humble grasp of the written word can come close to describing the flavor of this burger. But, I can say DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!! You just gotta come get ya one!!! I cannot wait to go back!

Not sure why this place gets such rave reviews. Is it because its new? Is it because they have a happy hour? I suppose its okay if you go on happy hour and get the 5 dollar happy hour burger, otherwise its not that impressive. The wait staff is new and unknowledgeable when it comes to basic alcohol. If you have to run to the bar to ask about every single drink or liquor I ask about and then have to come back because you didn't know the bar couldn't make a simple Amoretto sour then you don't get 5 stars. They have beer. That's great. Guess what, so does every other bar on the strip. Also 14 dollars for the jalapeño burger? A bit much :( also the cocktails were all underwhelming and expensive for t town : / I do like the space and the staff was nice.

Loved the Avenue. Had Monte Cristo on Sunday and it was very good. Atmosphere and service were great.

Best food in Tuscaloosa. I go here more than anywhere else because I've never had a bad meal and I've now ordered about everthing on the menu(which is changed up every so often). My recommendations: theres always great burgers and the Monte Cristo for brunch is just ... ugh.. mouthgasm, frankly. If you order at the bar I recommend the Loretta lemonade. Also ask for their special ranch sauce with the fries. You're welcome. And of course no matter how good the food is it, it wouldn't be as good without good service and their staff is really great! Super down to earth and I appreciate how nice and personable they consistently are.

Really excellent place to eat lunch. I'm so glad I came here on my first visit to town. The atmosphere was great. The beer was wonderful. And the music was fun to listen to.

So I've been here 3 nights in row now...yeah. Fish Tacos the first night...THEN I discovered the Chicken Club...holy smokes. Paired with the side salad and the Trimtab IPA , I almost don't want to go home. And Will the server is on point! Get there and order the chicken club!

Was in town for a day's joyride. Stopped in for brunch and ordered a delicious and spicy huevos rancheros. It's a nice, modern spot in downtown; not too crowded. A mimosa added a touch of sweetness to my dining experience.

My FAVORITE restaurant in Tuscaloosa. Absolutely amazing burgers. The Thai Chicken Nachos are also a great appetizer. I recommend getting The House Burger any night of the week no matter how crazy it sounds. My favorite is the one with Goat cheese and a strawberry-siracha reduction sauce.

  • Dee P.

It's a five for what it is: upscale bar food. Creative and delicious Thai chicken nachos. Spicy and creamy jalapeño cheese dip with homemade chips. Fresh grilled chicken salad with strawberries, goat cheese, and plenty of walnuts. And the hand-cut fries. Wow! Great local brews on tap. And friendly service.

Cute place downtown in Tuscaloosa. Craft beer and what I would call "gourmet" Southern US food! I had the (fried) chicken club, my wife the fish & chips. Both extremely good, filling, & most likely fattening, but we didn't care! We sat on the mezzanine, and had a great experience with excellent service!

I ate here this past week while in town for business. I had their salmon which was very good. My salmon was a little under cooked from how I typically like it, but I didn't send it back or anything. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and was excellent.

Great place with great food and great service! Megan and Craig behind the bar were super friendly and made it a great night. The jalapeño dip was really good but the Bacon Burger was outstanding!!!! I'm not always a huge fan of burgers but I am here! There are several types of restaurants around this one that they also recommended to try but I would definitely recommend stopping here while in town! I'll be back! :)

Thanks to a busy Saturday night at Mug Shots, we ended up searching in Yelp for burgers and I'm glad we did. The bacon burger was one of the best I've had. The pub fries were also great and the beer menu fantastic. I'm sure this will become a routine stop during college visits with my daughter.

I love this place. One of my favorites in Tuscaloosa. Great local beer selection. The burgers are amazing, as is everything else. They also do great brunch and the service is wonderful.

I was touring college campuses with my daughter and University of Alabama was on the list. There's something about college campuses that can have that one special pub that can surprise you. This was it! Only about a mile off of campus on a side street filled with other restaurants and bars this little gem is tucked among them. Approaching the 2 story historic looking old red brick building we entered the green doors for a taste of pub faire. I went on the recommendations of a few Yelpers and was very pleased. The rustic looking exposed red brick, glass, wood and iron was a chic and warm feel with the bar highlighted in the back of the bar. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess and she brought us to the open second floor so we got a nice view of the main floor and cool upstairs. We went to the restaurant around 4:30 so I ordered their Happy Hour burger and Loretta Lemonade (made with Maker's Mark--my favorite). Dang! That Happy Hour burger was awesome! Super juicy but not greasy, cooked perfectly on a buttery soft hamburger bun with bacon and cheese and hand cut seasoned fries. And...it was only $5! I don't know how they can keep people away with that quality and price. I'd be there all the time. My daughter got the buffalo sliders-- 2 boneless chicken breasts on 2 fresh hamburger buns topped with a little blue cheese and a bucket of seasoned hand cut fries. The flavor was soooo good and not too spicy so you could really enjoy the flavor of the buffalo style. I mean, I like spicy but when it so spicy it ruins the actual flavor, then eating becomes a challenge rather then something to enjoy. The buffalo sliders are to be enjoyed. And they were. Oh, the Loretta Lemonade--so good I wish I had a second one. If you like bourbon and want to try something sweet but not too sweet -- get the Loretta Lemonade. You can thank me later. Oh and it's refreshing too. Our waitress was as pleasant as could be and very attentive but not invasive. Great service. Get to this pub and give it a whirl. It's on my list for the next time I come thru Tuscaloosa!

Cute, little pub right off the main drag. Dark with exposed brick, there's an upper loft area and they do have a few TV's to watch games. Thai nachos were good, but I'd probably try the burger next time, it looked amazing. Everyone who worked here was super nice. Even after we asked them to change the channel to watch a football game for another school Do watch out for the floor on the upper loft area, the wood was really slippery, I almost busted it and was told someone had recently fell.

Awesome place. They really upped the quality on bar food! The Chicken Bites are house made with a beer batter and served with two ourstanding sauces. The burger is one of the best I've had. A hand made patty with bacon, provalone, and L/T/O. Our visit was during a busy Saturday Brunch but service was fast and friendly. They have a smallish list of draft beers, mostly from around the area. Also, a nice craft cocktail list and brunch specials. I'd never been in this part of AL before but after coming to The Avenue Pub I'd love to make the trip again!

Thank you, Yelp!!! Stopped in here on our way to Scottsdale, AZ, and it was all it lived up to be. Not much decor, but a great college town bar with incredible food. My wife fell in love with the Thai chicken nachos, which were won ton chips covered with grilled chicken, shredded mozzarella, green onions and sweet and spicy peanut sauce. I had to try the heralded burger, and it definitely was one of the best I have ever had with delicious bacon and provolone cheese. We tried a couple of the local brews (but not too many, because we were on the way to West Monroe, LA by nightfall!) We would go here again in a heartbeat! Roll your tide on over here every chance you get, 'Bama fans.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Tuscaloosa! I eat here at least once a week. The grilled chicken salad is the best in town! The chicken bites are addictive (and this is from a girl who doesn't generally care for fried chicken). The creamy cheese sauce they put over the grilled chicken plate is incredible! If you want to enjoy a great dinner drink, make sure to get the Yeti. The atmosphere is industrial and cool, and you couldn't ask for a friendlier staff.

Fantastic! We stopped for lunch & were not disappointed. For starters, we ordered the Thai Nachos that were simply perfect with the right amount of seasoning & tender chicken. The main dishes we ordered were the bacon cheeseburger, chicken club and fish&chips. Everything was delicious & the service was excellent! Highly recommend!

This place does food right. Everything is made like it is their speciality dish. I went last night and I got the Prime Rib Philly and the Thai Nachos. Both were Excellent, the prime rib philly was incredibly good the steak was amazing and the bread was fresh. the nachos were amazing as well thai peanut sauce and chicken and cheese. Overall I would definitly reccomend this place to anyone in the area.

I want lie to you, this place has the best burger in Tuscaloosa. The fries are great as well. Back to the burger the bun is buttered and grilled, the meat was really juicy and cooked to my liking and the bacon was perfect. It was a great tasting burger. A little pricey, but I don't mind paying for good food. The service was great and building is nice. The only reason it's not five stars is because they don't have fries on Sunday. They have the burger but no fries SMH.

Folks, something wonderful has come to Tuscaloosa, The Avenue Pub. If you're looking for something simple but incredibly delectable then look no further than this rustic yet modern eatery. My friends and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The menu itself is small, offering only a handful of dishes and a wide variety of locally crafted beers. I won't delve into all of the menu items (even though they were all good, especially the chicken club sandwich and the fish and chips) but merely focus on one. The burger. Yes, my friends, a burger. I won't claim to be an expert on food but I've eaten some great burgers in some great restaurants and this burger could stand up to all of them. Every night the chef creates a unique burger, called the "house" burger. On Monday evening the House Burger was a Jalapeno Popper burger. Comprised of a 1/2lb patty with bacon, cream cheese, fried jalapenos, and cheddar. It was amazing. Cooked to order, juicy, and flavorful. It was a balanced, well-cooked hamburger. I should also say that the fries that accompanied the burger were equally delicious. Crisp and wonderful. The only reason I'm going on about this is because Tuscaloosa has not offered a great hamburger and I've lived here for 15 years. Well, the wait is finally over. The Avenue Pub stepped up to the plate and hit a home run in this Tuscaloosian's humble opinion. It was a fantastic burger and I will be returning to The Avenue Pub very soon to try more of the chef's wonderful creations.

Was looking for a place for a quick dinner at a place that was open a bit later. The Avenue Pub was a perfect find. Set in an old brick loft space the restaurant has a great mix of rustic and trendy elements. Great place to watch a game and have a casual meal over a pint. I had the burger and it was done perfectly. The food came out quickly and hot. The service was friendly and attentive. The small menu works in this place as they add specials either daily or weekly. They also had great music playing earlier tonight, Tom Petty, The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Killers. Would definitely visit this spot again.

The Burger is THE BEST and cooked perfectly to order! Salty Dogs are made with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. I also had the spinach salad with baked goat cheese. I often want a lighter dish and this was over the top. The owner/operator is friendly and available, the staff are fun and helpful. In all The Avenue Pub is five star!
