Umm food was ok .. It wase'nt all that... The thing thats really cool is the chefs that cook infront of you... Prices are pretty high but you get alot of food... Most likely youll have to take it home with you.. I found myself haveing to add alot of what ever seasonings and sauces i could find in site... Im talking about salt, pepper, soy sause , the yum yum sause in everything wherever i can put it at or on i did... I was still good thought... But not great

I love hibachi grilles and have been to more than 9 different hibachi places in my life. Kobe definitely is not even close to the top of the list. Our chef was a Mexican gentleman (not to blame race for the experience but it is a JAPANESE steak house) who didn't quite seem enthusiastic or at all dramatic with his cooking ability. The food was decent but pricey and show was definitely want there. I would suggest going to Hokkaido across the street. Expect to spend $40 for two people.

Came to Kobe to attend a birthday dinner and was expecting good service. But we did not get anything food from this resturant. We made a reservation in advance for this dinner so they were expecting us. We came in and were placed in a seperate room with a grill which is competely fine. We waited at a grill for more 40 mins to actually our actual chef to come. After that it was fine, but service was not good at all. Food was fine.

This place is horrible and I have never had a good experience. I have no idea why I ever go back here. The food is never that good, service sucks, and the employees are among some of the rudest. Especially some girl named Gina who is one of the most stand offish, rudest, and snobbiest people in a restaurant I have ever come across. I do not ever recommend anyone to eat here. I have also become extremely ill from their food more than twice, and I know I am FAR from the only person to obtain food poisoning from this awful place.

Kobe is one of the only restaurants in town that offers my favorite sushi entree, chirashi. The fish is decent quality--however, the tuna is usually not great--but the knife cuts are horrendous. I'm usually not that picky about my sushi being perfect-looking as long as the fish is fresh, but I've noticed on several occasions that the sashimi looks like it's been shredded on the sides. It's pretty hideous. Also, the menu says sushi entrees come with soup and salad, but they never give me soup. Lastly, I usually get takeout because I've had one server several times who's been rude and inattentive, in addition to telling one friend who ordered soup, "you don't want to order that."

We went there today with my husband, and we are never coming back. My husband has been sick ever since we left. We think he got sick from the spicy crawfish roll. We usually like spicy sushi, so we think that it must have been old or something. We also ordered crab nigiri, and they came with imitation crab instead of real crab! If I wanted imitation crab, i would have gotten it at Walmart for $2. I didn't say anything, just made a mental note for the future, but then my plate was dirty, and the waitress was kind if rude about it, as if I was being picky. When they brought our food, they flipped the TV next to us to a channel showing the movie about a guy cutting off his own hand. That made us lose our appetite and we had to leave asap.

I would not recommend eating here. The workers were very impolite. I walked in and walked right back out. I would recommend gong to the longhorn steakhouse the food and service is exquisite. I will not be going back to Kobe's.

One of my regular weekend places to go. For a poor college kid the lunch menu is a great deal for the amount of food you get ( I usually get about 2 meals out of it). I've only eaten at the grill and have never had a bad experience. Easily the best hibachi grill in Tuscaloosa!

This restaurant shouldn't even be open. The food is bland and if you want burnt food, come here.

I keep going back to Kobe, only because all of the other sushi places in town tend to be overcrowded. I guess that should be clue #1. I've come to expect poor service and mediocre sushi from Kobe, and tonight was no exception. As usual, several pieces of our order were forgotten, and getting the server's attention required flares and an air horn. But that's pretty much their baseline. Tonight's "special event" was the Toro. The "Rancid Tuna Popsicle," to be precise. The fish was frozen in the middle and tasted like something they'd found washed up on the beach on a hot summer day. I literally regurgitated it into my napkin. It took two dinner mints, two pieces of gum, and some frozen yogurt to get that rotten taste out of my mouth. If they don't sell enough Toro to have some that is fresh and thawed for a Sunday night dinner, they might consider just removing it from the menu. Either way, I'm never going back.

We asked to be seated at a regular table, many of which were empty, but it still took about twenty minutes before we were seated. It took several minutes longer before the waitress showed up. We both ordered sushi, which arrived surprisingly fast, but was practically flavorless. The fried meats inside tasted like they had been sitting around for a while as well. Everything was really just bland and though the sushi menu isn't much more expensive than other local places, it's far more than what our food was worth. Overall, I'm not impressed, but am willing to give them a second chance in the future. This is likely to be a place I will never make any effort to go to and may attempt to avoid completely in lieu of better sushi houses.

The food was pretty average and the shrimp sauce wasn't the best I've had but it was still good. It was the first Japanese grill my boyfriend took me to, so I do like it, but I like some of the other places in town better.

I took my daughter and her friend here last night. We were seated with a reasonable wait time of 9 minutes. However, we did not opt in for the hibachi grill, instead we sat at the sushi bar. The starter soup was better than most I've had. My daughter ordered the shrimp and chicken combo dinner and it smelled and looked delicious.. and the way she devoured it .. it must have been good!! Her friend ordered the filet minon (medium).. she said it was good, but I noticed she took alot of it in a to-go box. I myself got the Vulcan Roll and the Hawaiian Roll and I have never had better tasting sushi EVER!! The presentation was lovely.. and did somebody say "ginger dressing!!".... yummy. There was just enough wasabi to blow my sinuses into the top of my brain as usual.

This place was pretty good. I know people normally rave about Kobe, but honestly it wasn't the best Hibachi experience I've had. The performance by the Chef was your typical performance, but in all fairness the crowd at the table wasn't the most responsive. My steak and Scallops came out delicious. The same can be said of the vegetables, fried rice and noodles. Plenty of white sauce for whoever wanted it, and all of our needs were met. I would recommend coming here for the lunch special, because the normally $22 price tag is reduced to about $11. 3 solid stars for Kobe.

My first visit to Tuscaloosa and i had sushis on a bed of rice. It was awesome a little hill of rice, avocado and 7 different fishes. Rhe service was not really great tho.

Went on a Thursday night. Our server was slow to take our drink orders & then had to go ask someone else about a drink special & that took forever. We sat at a grill & waited for what felt like 20 minutes for the next people to arrive so they would take our order. The hibachi chef was efficient but not entertaining. The food was good but pricey. A group at another grill was obviously having an excellent time. So maybe my experience was partially my company?!?

The most miserable, drab, tasteless sushi on planet earth. Avoid.

It was my first visit, but my daughter frequents this place with her college friends. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Service was prompt and the food was very good-we had wasabi roll and unagi and udon bowl with tempura, also- sukiyaki bowl- all was delicious. Sake choices could be better, i had plum wine and it was good, but it should be noted that it is a sweet wine-dood dessert wine though. My suggestion-business should REALLY pay more attention to the cleaning the bathrooms-the ladies restroom was NOT nice

I'm adding Kobe because this is one of my regular spots when I'm in Tuscaloosa. It's in the newer shopping center in Tuscaloosa which isn't saying much since everything there is half a century old. The McFarland Village is however very nice. The staff is always friendly, helpful and polite. The sushi is consistently fresh and well prepared. The miso soup has little chunks of tofu and seaweed in it and I love that! They have drink specials, a small bar with a nice flat screen and a huge Hibachi area in the rear of the building. It's the perfect place to swing in and grab a laid back meal at the bar by yourself, or bring a huge group of friends for some entertainment and Hibachi.

I've tried a few different places for sushi around here and so far, this has been the best; but it's still not amazing. I've always been seated quickly, food takes a while to come out, but it's got a decent atmosphere. It's been difficult to find good sushi in Tuscaloosa, and so far this has been the only place I've gone that wasn't full of fried rolls. I'd go back, but only when I'm really craving sushi and can't get out of town.
