It's a tiny place that seats probably 20 max but has a great big menu for a little bbq spot. The mainstays are there, of course, but I was impressed to see a few items I usually don't see at bbq places: a turkey plate, hamburger steak plate, "mama burger," pinto beans, chicken and dumplings, salads, and vegetable sticks. I settled on the pulled pork sammy with slaw, half hot/half sweet sauce, Brunswick stew, and vegetable sticks. The sandwich was HUGE, which made me look like a pig after I got that with the stew and the veg sticks. I mean, seriously, there was way too much food on my table. The sammy was dee-lish, but the stew was not that of the Brunswick style. It was soupy, not stew-ey, and contained some sort of bean. Given that, the veg stick was a mix of corn and other chopped greens - which was sort of cool. I'm sure it's a premade thing from a bag you just stick in the fryer, but I actually liked it.

Super friendly service and lots of choices. The aroma when we walked in the door made me instantly drool. I had the ribs and it was worth every penny! Fried okra was yummy too. Nice little spot to get good home cooked food!

This is a great little BBQ restaurant near the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. Very friendly staff and they have a pretty big menu for such a little place. I've had the pulled pork sandwich w/ slaw, their beans, stew, pot. salad, and a couple of other things. The sandwich is huge and the slaw has a great little bit of bite to it. You can get a mild, hot, xtra hot, white, and rib sauce (I think I forgot one). I got the hot and it was really good. Looking forward to trying some more stuff and maybe getting a pie. They have special sides not listed on the menu sometimes too.

Great BBQ place. I've gotten their family pork combos a couple times, and you get a good value for your money. It's always been delicious. Their sauce is a little different from the average place. It's a liquid sauce, but it's more sweet than the usual thin sauce. The employees are always very friendly in a genuine type way.

This restaurant is near my house so it is very convenient. I must say that the BBQ is as good as Whitts and Big Bobs. The baked beans with bits of BBQ to add flavor are really delish! I have tried the Mama Burger and it is very good! They do have an extensive menu but we tend to stick to the BBQ. I tried the Fried Apple Pie but must say that my mom makes the best fried apple pies EVER so when I get one at a restaurant I am ususally disappointed. Their fried apple pie was ok if you have not had my mom's! The staff are always pleasant and there is usually no wait for the food.

Not good at all. Got large rib plate. Ribs were all fat. 1 rib didn't even have meat on it. Another was a row of rib tips thrown in as a rib. To tough to eat. Nothing special about the beans. The slaw must be a house special, pickled. First and last time here.

Great food and friendly service. The barbecue was very fresh and tender. We were served more food than we could eat. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food. Try the Banana Pudding. My only complaint is that they no longer serve their fried green beans.

I was about to declare this BBQ joint the best BBQ I've ever had after trying their ribs a few weeks back. The ribs were perfect, with an amazing sauce, quality meat, and amazing technique. The fries enhanced the experience. Unfortunately, my pulled pork was full of cartilage and even had a few bone fragments. Almost ruined it for me. Pros: Amazing sauce. It is like a cross between BBQ sauce and Buffalo wing sauce. Perfect balance of sweet, salt, and sour. Flawless rib execution. Good sides. Cons: Pulled pork. Crummy parking lot, with a real rough threshold for cars to cross to get in and out. 5/5 until I had the pulled pork. Will try again to see if it was an aberration.

Awesome. The aromas alone are worth it!!! Even went so far as to make me a two meat plate as three was too much for me to eat. Best BBQ I've ever eaten.

Small establishment where you belly up to the counter to place your order. We decided to try out the the ribs and the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were moist and had a nice smoky flavor but were lacking in seasoning so we felt they were on the bland side....add some of their mustard based BBQ sauce and all is well. The pulled pork sandwich was huge and a great value.....but felt that this was also fair in flavor. The coleslaw was not to my liking, but that is more so based on my preference to light creamy based slaw which balances the heat of the cabbage. This one was very light and watery with no "bite". The staff was attentive and our food arrived very quickly after ordering. Overall, fair food, decent portions at a nice price.

one word. nasty. sauce is just tabasco. ribs were the worst i have ever had. no burnt ends or sausage. just no flavor. i'm from texas and maybe i'm spoiled but will never eat here again. don't get me started on the cole slaw. eww. not fresh. the only decent thing was the potato wedges and fried okra. that's it. so if u want good or edible b.b.q then don't come here. if you try it bring a barf bag.

About a month ago I tried the bbq sandwich and I thought it was decent. I went in yesterday to try out the ribs. I got the rib plate. I took a few bites of the ribs and they were not fresh at all. They were so tough, fatty and had a gray color. The beans were bland, probably straight from a can. I paid $14 on food I couldn't even eat. And I'm paying for it now - been sick all night.

Great family owned BBQ good price good food love the slaw!!! They have a smoker right there in the restaurant and you just know your food is fresh. Back to the slaw I have never had it made like they do but it was awsome.

The best BBQ that I've had in years! The coleslaw was as good as the BBQ. Very much impressed with the food and service. The decor is typical small town hole in the wall, but who's here for the decor? I'll be back and I've already told all of my friends!

Nice service, smokey brisket, sweet tea, and fresh fried okra. What more can a girl ask for? Lady at the counter said they've been there for 26 years. You can tell they've got their recipes perfected.

We popped in for a quick snack on our road trip. Very quick service, but we wanted to stay longer because everyone was so dang nice! We split the chicken bites and cole slaw. Scrumptious!

Stop here! We were on our way to FL and read other reviews, made us want to give this place a try. Had an excellent pulled pork sandwich with hot sauce and a side order of baked beans. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The Bar B Q Smoke House has a quaint, small dining area and friendly, competent staff. Would definitely try again and maybe more adventurous in my choices for dinner.

I always try to eat here anytime I pass exit 334. This is the best barbecue you'll fine between Birmingham and Nashville. The chopped Beef brisket is amazing. Their standard sauce is vinegar based, as is the cole slaw. My preference is the white sauce, which is good on anything.

The giant metal pig outside with the strobe light on top said this was going to be some fine ass quality BBQ. And it was no lie. There's walk up counter service a menu that runs the standard pulled beef, pork, chicken and ribs as well as some cheeseburgers and hot dogs and such. The ladies behind the counter are friendly and the decore screams 'you just pulled in off the highway'. We didn't hang out to eat as we were on a loooong drive, but they happily packed up our food to go and it was awesome. I got a pulled pork sandwich which I seasoned with their vinegar based BBQ sauce which was simple and awesome. Jr got a gi-nor-mous baked potato with beef on it and Mini got a two hot dogs. The pork was moist, smokey without being fake and a generous portion of meat. Beef was somewhat drier in my opinion but the crunchy bits were delicious. Oh, and did I mention that we scored all this awesome food for $16. So, if you are ambling down the highway, run away from the fast food places on this strip of road and head over to the metal pig and do some locals a favor by supporting the awesome ladies who run this place.

This is not bbq. Baked meats not a bbq make. The sliced beef was horrendous. The slaw is not typical. This place was not good at all. Who gave it all the five stars. Hey the folks are all very nice but the food is just awful. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what was making the meats taste odd then it hit me. charcoal STARTER FLIUD it is very obvious.

I agree with the other Yelp reviewers -- the Bar-B-Q Smoke House serves quality BBQ. Stopped in for lunch today while working, ordered the Pulled Pork platter. Pulled Pork was tender & moist, tasty. Sides were very good, the coleslaw had a spicy taste to it. Would stop in again if passing by. A solid 4 Star rating.
