My husband and I had dinner at Durangos tonight and enjoyed it very much. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. We particularly enjoy their chips and salsa. The chips are crisp and warm and salsa has just the right heat. The prices are about average for Mexican in the area and I noticed that their health grade was 100! Impressive!

I was genuinely impressed with this place. I was in town on business and did not want fast food, so I settled on this place once I noticed the full parking lot. I figured if all those people were there, there must be a good reason why. And, that there was! It isn't the best Mexican food I have ever had, but it was definitely on a higher level than most of your hometown Mexican joints. The cheese dip was basic, but the margaritas were big on size and taste! I ended up settling on the sopes for my meal and again, I was not disappointed. The variety of meat and beans were piled high on each of them. They were hot and super tasty! Overall, I am glad I stumbled upon this place and if in the area again, I will swing in for a marg and a sopes!

The salsa was ok but I have had better but the portion on the beef fajitas was generous and have a great flavor, if they had home made tortillas it would have been perfect but the overall meal was worth it and will definitely return.

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant by far. The salsa was fresh and had a good kick to it but was absolutely delicious. I had one of the combination plates and it blew my mind by how tasty it all was. I thoroughly enjoyed having leftovers. It was a good value and I was happy to see there's a nice looking lunch special menu since I work nearby.

Nice people and the owners really do come from Durango, Mexico. Food was okay, but the waiter disappeared for about 15min while we were trying to get the bill. We bought a fajitas for two plus two drinks and paid $45. I think it was a little high for a typical Mexican restaurant. The place was cold in winter so I think the owner's were just being cheap to save on heating. The place also has an outdated layout with no TVs for watching sports in a big football community.

Pleasant service and plentiful portions of mediocre Mexican food. The salsa is okay. The mole was overly sweet and devoid of the normal savory richness I find in other restaurants. I really tried to like Durango but found that it fell short on fall too many areas.

I guess if you're ordering quesadillas and burritos this might be run of the mill Mexican. However, they have some choice authentic dishes you can't find in any Mexican restaurant around here. If you really want to know what this place can do order the bisteck sopes, mole, torta, asado de puerca, or machaca. They have pretty good fajitas, but if you're going to go that route just get the sopes! They are incredible. Also, the service is always fantastic, the food always comes quick, and the portions are large. Expensive? I've never noticed it being expensive. Which means that I've always felt like I've received a great value. Go. My favorite place to get Mexican food!

Down to see my Razorbacks break their losing streak against Auburn. Durango Mexican Restaurant was right next to my hotel so we thought, what the hell. Place appears to be popular. The Mexican food is your standard fare. It's good but not great. Their margaritas were good but they appear to be the premix stuff. If you are in Opelika and want some Mexican food then I say give this place a try.

Best fajitas I've ever had. The meat is well marinated and tender. Good, strong margaritas! I love Andres - he is a really nice guy. It's worth the short drive up the interstate.

The 4 is for the price and the Salsa. It's not amazing Mexican food, but it is good. The price is unreal and my wife bases every Mexican restaurant on their salsa (she loves spicy hot, she puts gasoline on her food), and she rated the salsa a 5. And the servings are huge.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
