Being from California makes life hard here in the south when I want a taste of home without the time to cook it myself. Iv found a couple places in Montgomery that if I order certain dishes I can get at least somewhat close to flavor wise. Los Cabos is one of them along with Taqueria El Cantaro and Los Vaqueros. I had been here once before because I wanted some civeche and the menu said they had it. Was the first time my girl had had ceviche so I was interested to see what this place could offer. Ill have to say I wasn't that thrilled with it at first. It was like shrimp mixed with pico. The quantity wasnt bad but I just felt something was missing. so we asked for some more limes and some cilantro and added it along with a bit of salt and imrpoved the flavor a lot. I dont remember what we even had that night but it was good and we left happy and satisfied. Fast forward to last night. I was getting that old craving again and with the lady away I figured why not come back here and see what I thought again. I knew the food was good even if I dont remember what it was (Im pretty sure it was the green chili) so I figured what the hell. Came in and walked right up to the bar to have a seat. Was greeted by the bartender (nice mexican girl from Puebla) and I wanted to ask her opinion on what she would eat. Not really that helpful as she told me she would eat pretty much anything but took that as a decent sign. Loooking around the room I was actually the only white guy in the bar area. Another good sign as I like places that are supported by the ethnic population of the food Im about to eat. I decided on the chili colorado as its an old standard for quality that I like to use. Asked her to have them make it as spicy as possible and I went ahead and had a Tecate(another quality standard I use) while i waited. Food came out about 5-10 minutes later hot and ready to be eaten. the wait wasn't boring even for being by myself as I had a good conversation with the bartender when she wasnt busy and there was a soccer game on as well for the times she was. Food was good. it reminded me of what i would get back in Az or Ca. The chili had a nice red chili flavor and a light hint of heat. I like extreme heat so asked if they had something hotter to add and she disappeared to the kitchen and came back with a salsa verde that had a nice kick to it. Added that to my chili and was happy. Beans had a good flavor and were not dry and the rice was soft and flavorful. Iv had issues with some places around here and the beans being bland or dry. I think Ill be coming back here more often than what I was. Service was excellent and the food was great with authentic offerings. They also have your usual americanized mexican that you can get everywhere else in case you dont really want to stray into something you dont know or feel that is "real Mexican" cooking. Update: Ceviche isn't on the menu but if you ask it they will make it.

Quite simply some of the worst enchiladas I have ever had, filling was dry, tortillas were tough. I despise shredded iceberg but that is what the guacamole salad consisted of, and tasteless lump of pureed avocado. Refried beans were straight from a can.Decor is over the top and kitschy. Service was mediocre.

We love this place. The service is good, food is good and fast and priced right. It never seems all that busy, so we haven't ever had a wait. Works for us!

Low grade food, low grade margaritas, high price for what you get. Specifically, the happy hour margaritas were pure mix with no real trace of tequila. The carne asada is a total rip off. Instead of using flank or skirt steak, they use lower quality round that's sliced very thin. Although this style is more authentic, they are charging for the meal as if it were a better cut of meat. One piece of Rancho meat (that they use) at a Mexican meat store is about $5/lb. You get one skimpy piece of meat that barely weighs .10 lbs and they are charging upwards to 1000% for this meat. There are several alternatives in Montgomery that are far superior and fairly priced.

They might have a cheesy drawing on their door, but inside is a little hidden treasure! Food is amazing and very reasonably priced. Everyday there's some sort of special - like on Sundays you get 10% off if you bring in a church bulletin. There's lunch specials on the back - I definitely recommend the quesadillas and fajitas. The servers are super nice and very quick with soda, chips, and salsa refills. I even came back for a second time in the same week!

I wanted to like a little hole in the wall restaurant in a strip mall. Sometimes these are the best places. I wasn't impressed and actually a little disappointed. The service was pretty good and warm crispy chips and salsa came soon after we sat down. Pico de gallo and avocado- great! The rest of our table's food wasn't too tasty though. And the sour cream was super runny without any flavor. The prices were good but I would rather pay more for better quality dishes.

My family and I went there last night and were disappointed from the start. Our aguas tamarindo tasted like dirty water; it needed more tamarind and sugar. The kids pizza was a heart attack waiting to happen and my kids hated it. There was concern by some that "all the food looks alike" and another was very disappointed to get refried beans when the menu simply stated beans. My steak and chicken fajitas tasted good; I would order this again. This restaurant has many daily specials, but apparently you don't get them when you pay with a gift certificate. That's kinda messed up because it shouldn't matter how you pay for your food. What do they get right? Another reviewer said that they have good margaritas. Perhaps I should have had one to redeem the experience.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
