We tried this place at lunch and unfortunately, it misses the mark for good Mexican food. Either back up and punt or serve cheaper tequila and then nobody will care about the food.

We were in town for the day and decided to give it a try. The food was great and for a great price. The cheese dip is a little spicy but wonderful!

I was pleasantly surprised the first time I ever ate at El Agave. For years there had only been the one Mexican place in town, and Agave easily blew their cuisine out of the water. Freshly made salsa and margaritas in many flavors, not too greasy dishes, and GREAT service really set it apart all while being priced reasonably. Now this is the only Mexican Restaurant I'll eat at. Margarita nights are from 2-9 every Tuesday and Thursday. Look for other drink specials as well as lunch specials throughout the week.

I prefer to eat at Agave due to its proximity to my home, but it also has the best prices in comparison to nearby Mexican places and great quality food. They have a lot of margarita flavors, my favorites more importantly ;) which are peach and mango! The cheese dip is great most of the time! Sometimes it's a little runny but they fix it very quickly when it is. Food ALWAYS comes out super fast! They keep a small staff, so it's easy to get to know the employees there and they are very friendly and like to get to know you as well! The space is smaller than Zapopans but I actually prefer it, Bc it's quite cozy and private so you don't feel like everyone and their mom can see and stare at your while you eat. Nice paintings and designs so you feel like you're somewhere Latino. They have margarita day almost everyday so you can't beat that either! I love Él Agave!!

Nice surprise, we decide to check the place out after reading reviews at urbanspoon and it didn't dessapoint. Clean place, the food was very good, we order the " agave tacos" and they were great, the meet had a lot of flavor wich remind us of our last trip to Mexico city, and they margaritas were far better than the other place in town. So if u r fan of real mexican food and not bland tex-mex try this place, u won't regreat it trust me.

El Agave carries all the authentic tequila for their margaritas. The place is clean and they serve good Mexican food. Their salsa for tortilla was served too cold but other than that they can cook.

This is my fave Mexican restaurant south of Hoover. Good salsa, great drinks, decent specials. Oh yeah, its hot! As in, one tiny portable air unit for the whole place. Sit on the right side!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
