One of my favorite haunts in Montevallo is Eclipse, with its expansive and very Southern, covered, wraparound porch. The college-artist targeted coffee house serves a healthy lunch alternative to fast food in a hipster-gone-granola atmosphere. Grab a book from the library, and a micro brew beer, and check out the local art for sale before dining with professors. Love it!

I grew up in Montevallo and have seen plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops come and go. (Not because there are a lot of them in the city - quite the contrary - but because they have so frequently been a standard A, B, C.) For those who have ever spent more than a day in Montevallo, the city is anything but granola. And that's exactly why Eclipse works there. How many places do you know of that are known for their coffee? And their sandwiches. Their pasta salad. And milkshakes. Beer selection. Creative mixed drinks. Eclectic used book selection - rooms full. Poetry night. It is a bit ridiculous considering it is simply an old house - turn shop. Having moved on to bigger and bigger cities, at the end of the day this is one place in my hometown I have a soft spot for. When I'm visiting the fam 10 years from now I hope I can still wander in and grab a Yuengling and peruse the books. Talk to random friendly folks. Life is good.

While traveling to Alabama, I took my Mom here for lunch. The food was very fresh and the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

The food is great and there is a nice selection of drinks to choose from, but that's not why you drive all the way into Montevallo to come here; it's the people that are here. Eclipse is a book store and coffee shop at heart, but like a heart the body has out grown it. It's a must stop when you are out this way.

Ridiculous. We got here for breakfast and were told they couldn't do pancakes today unless they ran out of biscuits. We ordered pretty easy egg dishes instead... It has been over an hour... still no food. We checked again and they said they only had one toaster working. Not a great impression after hearing wonderful things.

This is a really killer coffee shop. Its way out of the way for me, but I drive out there whenever I need to grab a sandwhich, coffee and get some work done. The place has a great vibe, the food is good, and the coffee is too.

The food is just okay (I had the roast beef panini), but this is the kind of place you go to more for the atmosphere than anything else. You probably would never come across it if you didn't live in the area, it's a little off the beaten path. Quaint hipster joint that makes you want to hang out for a while. Good free wifi signal.

Went on a Friday night at 11 pm. Absolutely loved this in the middle of nowhere piece of Heaven!!! It's an old house with Christmas lights around the outside. They serve coffee, lattes, wine, beer and food. There is inside seating and out. On this particularly humid Alabama night, we ventured outside for a smoke. We had to walk through the house where we saw a room set-up as a library, a playroom, a hangout room. Then we went out the front door to a classic wrap around country porch with tables, well-fed stray cats, local artsy college students playing guitars, spontaneous sing-a-longs, people drinking coffee, beer, wine.
