Good hamburgers - consistent. Warning outside eludes to speed of service (slow) and it is not lying. Service could be better - once saw two wait persons get into a verbal altercation in the dining area.

Unbelievable food, great service. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Onion rings a must try.

I bring my out-of-town friends here because of the fried green tomatoes and fried pickles. The burgers are consistantly good. The chicken fingers are surprisingly very good if you're not wanting a burger. The sandwiches are ok, but nobody goes there for them. As for the service, I don't think anyone likes working there.

Nothing really special about the burger in flavor. The service was great thanks to Devan!

stopped here on way to FL and ordered to go. Burger was decent. My issue is I did not get what I ordered. I ordered one with cheese and one with no bun and salad (and medium rare). Both came out well done with buns no cheese and no salad. Rings were good. Thick onion cuts that were not overly battered. I should have checked before I left (although the server assured me she checked), but honestly I would not have waited another 15 minutes for new burgers. OK if local or if you dine in (which we should have just done).

The burgers are decent and the fries are ok. There is not too much to complain about or get excited for here. It does seem to be a mainly locals place, which is cool. Also there was one night I was there that they had live music that was excellent! The atmosphere is kind of grungy in a old southern way.

GF and I came to try the burger and pork chops after hearing great reviews; it was good. Just good. The burger was ordered medium with sautéed mushrooms, yet came out well with raw mushrooms. The pork chops were cooked perfectly, but the rice and beans could have used a bit of seasoning. The sweet tea cup had a brown film that was revealed once we rubbed our finger across it. The atmosphere was comfortable and our service wasn't bad. Worth a try.

The burger was ok. I feel that they did not give me enough fries. Bad service. Took 45 minutes ro get my food. No diversity

After reading the review from Brian V. that stated, "Bartender told me to shut up when I questioned why there was a charge for take out boxes." my boyfriend and I laughed. We instantly knew we would have to check this place out ASAP. Parking is very tight, but we also arrived at the peak of lunch time and expected it. I had no problem parallel parking in the back, but another woman (and shitty driver) struggled for several minutes before hitting my car. There was no visible damage, however reconsider parking in the back if you are incompetent. We walked in the restaurant, which had a fantastic atmosphere. Our hostess was friendly and seated us promptly. Our waitress was very nice during our stay. There is Wi-Fi, which is also a plus. My boyfriend and I ordered the Outlaw Rings, since we read other reviews that said the entrees would take some time. We were impressed with how well they were cooked and the batter they used was amazing. They were golden brown and just the right amount of crunchy! I ordered the philly steak and added aus jus. It was also cooked perfectly, a hearty portion size, and tasted great! The potato salad was a good side option. My boyfriend had the famous burger, which was cheesy and juicy. He liked his side of fries. We were pleased with the whole dining experience and will return! This is about a 45 minute+ drive for us, but worth it.

THIS is my new burger spot!! I had their "soon-to-be-famous" Butch Burger & it was excellent! The atmosphere was comfy with tables, booths & bar seating... Karen, the bartender, was friendly & completely on top of things. The menu has a good variety of cafe fare along with dessert (although they are situated directly behind a top-notch ice cream shop) If I lived a bit closer, I would frequent here once a week, but will take it when I can get it! LOVED IT!!

We LOVE Butch Cassidy's for a casual meal. Everything is always fresh, hot & well prepared. My favorites include the "soon to be famous" Butch burger, the Reuben, the taco salad & the nachos. Oh, & the most wonderful onion rings EVER! It's the best place for a laid back meal in midtown. Don't forget to try a Bloody Mary!

Best wings in mobile...every time we are in mobile this is a must stop...bonus...during the week they are buy one order get one free...so bring a friend and chow down!

The parking situation is horrendous. Neighbors businesses threaten to tow cars in their parking spots. They can get packed out for lunch. The food is good, but don't go if you're in a hurry. I had the shrimp po boy and it was good with big shrimp. I really liked their fries. They are known for their burgers.

Pretty sure all the good reviews are people who grew up here and don't know any better. Both times I've been there have been either loud music or trivia. Both were unnecessary and didn't seem to be a draw. Even our waitress seemed irritated w them. I'm also not sure why you'd bring kids to a place whose atmosphere is best described as dingy dive bar like.

If you like fried pork chops, go here on Wednesdays. The Wednesday special is two fried pork chops, black eyed peas, and rice. It is soooo good! Team that up with their hot wings, which are 2 for 1 if you get there by 7pm. Their Butch Burger is big and tasty. Get it medium rare for that extra juiciness with all the fixings!

I haven't found anything on the menu that isn't good. My fav of course, is the fried pork chops. Mama's were a close second. The oddest thing happened last time I was there, and both my sister and myself were quite surprised at the rudeness of the server. Now this server has been there a long time, but she was a b**** that day. Just plain rude. The reason? I go there for the crunchy fried pork chops, and they serve them on top of the black eyed peas and rice. This was the first time I requested that the chops be on a separate plate, so both sides would be crunchy. Well, my heavens. You would have thought I had asked her to run out back and slaughter a different pig for my chop. Her entire demeanor changed and my sister and I were both quite surprised by her behavior. Now my sister eats there a lot more than I do, and she was very shocked at the servers attitude. I am a very good tipper - usually 30% but I left $2 that day, as my sister always does. She is not known for her great tips. LOL Next time I return I will ask for the chops on a separate place, as they were crunchy on both sides, and I don't get chops every day, and when I do, by darn, I want them the best I can get.

Butch Burger. That's all you need to know. It's quite the hefty burger with bacon and deliciousness through and through. It's the big-papa of all the burgers you'll find in Mobile, and is the sole reason that I rate Butch Cassidy's a 4-star. The other burgers are just okay. The Babe Burger is for the less ambitious people out there. The patty melts are hit or miss most of the time, but when their misses, they're still completely satisfactory (they just don't even compare to the Butch). The coleslaw is a little too mayonnaisey for me, but other people might like it. I always opt out for fries (because they're pretty standard). The service is always great (they're super nice), and the prices are more than agreeable. But like I said, if you want the best burger in town, get the Butch Burger. But make sure you're very specific about the way it's cooked if you're particular about that. They tend to cook things one level down from what you tell them (e.g. medium-rare will really be plain ol' rare).

Very Good burgers. Decor and atmosphere are SUPER! I love a place that is not too slick & new. This one delivers! Several signs tell that food is cooked to order and will not come out immediately. That is part of the charm here.

I can't tell you how many times I have been in Midtown and never even knew this was here. My sister and I went here on a recommendation from a local. We LOVED it! The food was great! It has a mix of Southern and American Comfort food. I had a cup of the chili and a the special of the day which was fried pork chops with black eyed peas. It looks like a dive bar aesthetically, and is packed with tables. It is SO good, and so fair priced. Just a humble place with great food and character, does it get any better?? One gripe is that parking is horrible, super tiny parking lot, but worth the trouble.

If you want a good ol' nasty burger, this is an appropriate place to find it. I appreciate that they offer a smaller "babe burger" for us delicate little maidens that just can't handle the manly Butch burger. I ordered mine medium but it was still a bit too pink inside. Clarify how you want it cooked.

Basic food nothing special here. The service was a little slow and the waitress was not very friendly. The happy hour is a joke and I was not happy about it at all.. The happy hour is: DOMESTIC BEERS $ 1.75 IMPORT BEERS $ 2.25 MILLER LITE OR YUENGLING PITCHERS $ 6.00 - MUGS $ 1.25..... Now I ordered a pitcher of Blue Moon that is 14.00 dollars a pitcher.. yes folks you heard right 14.00 dollars a pitcher.I did not know this until I got the check.. A pitcher of beer is exactly 5 glasses of beer. Now when you put that freeze tube in the middle which is what they have in all their pitchers of beer, it cuts it down to 4 glasses of beer. Everyone knows that buying beer on tap is much cheaper. When you do the math, this place is charging me 2.50 per glass. That is 25 cents more than the import prices they charge. If this place wants to cut corners, they should keep the orange slices off my glass and give me my moneys worth of beer. I also must note that the other party I was with ordered Yuengling by the glass and it was served in a mug.The mug was smaller than the glass I was given .Which was your basic glass you get everywhere in Mobile that serves beer, also which some people call a pint, which in fact is NOT a pint but that's another story all together ... So anyway, I told the person I was with that her beer looked a little lite and to poor it into my empty glass ,she did and it was a good 2 inches below the rim. So that being said: you get screwed when you order a regular glass of beer as well as ordering a pitcher.

A fun place with a lot of character. Service can be anywhere from very good - to "where's the waitress"; I had to learn to take it for what it is. Very good burgers! Once, I tried to order something else off the menue ( a taco salad, I think) and the conclusion was --- stick to the burgers. Besides the burgers, I go for their happy hour BOGO on wings --- they spicy but not too hot. Beer is cold and reasonably priced. Do not ever order wine there though. It's cheap all right, and I think plane fuel tastes better. By the way, the parking lot is tiny and pain in the neck to get in/out, so plan to go before/after the crowd comes.

Fantastic Mobile food at a great price! Very casual atmosphere! The burgers are delicious! The fried pickles and fried green tomatoes are too die for! Love it

Great burgers and sandwiches, and the onion rings rock. Long known for slow service, they've gotten the message and improved it tremendously. One of my fav places for a casual meal and a cold beer.

Cool restaurant. I like how its a dive bar that goes as a restaurant. Decor is cool. Been there a couple times and haven't had any complaints. The "Soontobefamous" Butch Burger is pretty good. Not stellar but good. On a recent trip, I had the fried pork chops with black beans, rice and corn bread. Pretty good too. A bit heavy for lunch so come starving. Parking is kind of a headache and they got rid of the old wooden door that set them apart from anybody else and a good place to go for bar food in Mobile!

  • Tina M.

The atmosphere is awesome! Just what I think an Alabama burger joint should be. Our waitress was very sweet and the bartender was super stylin'. However, the food was over priced and the quality just so-so. If the items were priced a couple dollars less, I would add a star. I just expect more from a 9-dollar burger. Also, 5 little stuffed jalapenos not worth $5.96. It was packed, so I assume people love this place. Try it for yourself.

  • J D.

I expected more with all of the hype over this place. It may be more expensive at the hungry owl, but it has my vote for best burger in mobile. I don't know where they get the idea that their burger is "legendary" but it's far from it. Everything is overly salted as well.

Bartender told me to shut up when I questioned why there was a charge for take out boxes. Poor service, rude. Will contact BBB. Don't give them your money.

Do NOT come here on live music nights. It is WAY too loud. It would be much more pleasant if the guy would play without speakers and amps. The place is way too small for that. It makes for a terrible meal experience. I for one will not be back.

A really nice hole-in-the-wall in midtown with good food at good prices. I've gone here several times with small groups, but it doesn't seem great for large groups. They have great hamburgers, good sides, and really interesting appetizers. A must for anyone that lives nearby.

Love this place! Can never go wrong with the mistake wings, burger or nachos. First place I go every time I'm back in Mobile.

Found this small out of the way cafe on the internet after playing golf at the Robert Trent Jones course - we were driving around on a Sunday and had tried a couple of oyster places the nite before which left us flat. This was great - waitress was very friendly and helpful and service was quick. the burgers were terrific. Drinks were good and it was all affordable. If i lived there, this would be a regular stop. We were probably the only tourists in the place cause it is really off the beaten path.

After hearing the commercials on the radio for years, I thought it was time to try this place. We went for lunch. We were seated quickly and was given a choice of tables. the waitress took our order quickly and was nice and friendly. We ordered their burgers, they arrived in a timely manner and were served with fries. My burger was ordered Med Rare and was a little over cooked, but my wife ordered her Med and it was spot on. The burgers were good, nothing fantastic, but still a solid burger for $10, service was great and the placed was clean but the decor was a little dated....looking for a place to grab a quick burger and a beer in Mid-town, try here, you won't be disappointed, there are better burgers to be found, but there are also a lot worse too....oh yeah, they seem family friendly...at least at lunch.

This is Mobile's iconic burger joint. I've been going to Butch's for years. They have the coldest beer in town by far. If you are looking for a unique and authentic burger joint then this is it. If you need a quick burger then this is NOT the place. I highly recommend BC's. I'll be back again and again.

The parking lot is teeny. That's my only complaint. The burgers and sandwiches are great! Food is cheap. Service is quick and attentive. I think I'll try an appetizer next time because I heard the fried pickles are really good too.

Interesting setting with good food. The service isn't great, but it's a good place to go if you're craving a burger.

A hole in the wall setting with fabulous burgers! We also love the "mistake wings." Parking is a pain, but their takeout is quick & easy. A must try in midtown Mobile.

Small, sometimes crowded, always enjoyable, a local place with experienced service and food that is simple but superb. You will always be pleased with the food and the general atmosphere is like a local pub and neighbourhood grill. When we decide to eat here we are never disappointed. In Mobile too many restaurants are a roll of the dice but this place has stood the test of time. No issues with what you order. You will enjoy it all. I like the gathering hole atmosphere. When you look around you see Mobilians. It is not a tourist place. There is ample parking around the restaurant although their lot is small. It is always busy but service is quick. This restaurant is a Mobile tradition and the hamburger or whatever you order here will make you clearly understand the difference between what things should taste like and what we get served in franchise restaurants.

This place is a very small bar/restaurant. The food is excellent. I had the patty melt and my wife had the cheesesteak. The au jus sauce was great with the cheesesteak and the meat on the patty melt was great with the grilled onions. Not a huge fan of the steak fries and I'd actually like to see a veggie burger on the menu so I could build my own burger and keep it a little more healthy. The staff was attentive and did a decent job keeping drinks full. I assume they make their burgers to order so it took a little more time. This is a no frills type place but they have a good burger. Apparently I should have gotten the onion rings because we heard they were excellent. (might have been better than the steak fries) We'll be back if we are over that way and craving a burger.

Excellent food. Horrible service. Waitress with curly blonde hair and glasses was not polite and didn't ask if we needed anything.

Supposedly famous for their "Butch Burger." Wasn't memorable but it had an authentic grilled-at-home flavor, which is usually pretty hard to accomplish at bar & grill type joints. Pitcher of cold Yuengling on tap was a nice choice for sure.
