Scott, one of the managers, is great! Friendly and has greeted me by name on my return visits. Only in town for a couple of weeks and found this place the last week. Wish I had found it the first day. Usually sit in the bar area. Biggest complaint is the bar staff. Like most small bars they pay attention to the regulars and you almost have to either trip them or toss something in their face to get them to notice you. Food is good, beer is cold.

Amazing brunch with an up to date take on the usual suspects. My dining partner had Fried Chicken and French Toast, a classy upgrade from the chicken and waffle phenomenon. The crispy chicken strips were hand battered, not from a frozen box. Cinnamon in the toast was complimented by the house made raspberry chili syrup. I had the corned beef hash. The diced red and green bell pepper was bright and flavorful as only fresh peppers can be. Service was spot on, the coffee great and the owner came over and greeted is at the table. So why only 4 stars? Just a few anomalies: one egg with the hash instead of the customary two, whipped margarine spread and generic mixed fruit jelly with the biscuit instead of butter and jam. Small niggles but the main dishes are so good, the little niggles stood out in my mind. All that said, I can see how this could be one of my favorite Sunday Brunch places if I lived in Huntsville. Well done!

Came here on a lunch break from class with a group of seven co workers..the outside area was nice and had a lot of room. We all had a spicy Bloody Mary that was ok. I ordered and grilled Chicken strawberry and walnut salad that was pretty good! When looking at other peoples food and options on the menu, everything looked pretty good. Would totally go back and try something else. They also have a full bar. Smoking only outside. Paleo friendly low carb friendly!!

Finally, a place in Huntsville that stays open late! Good food, good service! We're from Chicago, so it reminds us of home! If they add music/dj, this place would be a regular spot!

Horrifically slow waitress. Major holidays elapsed between orders. Houdini never disappeared this much.

Best Country Fried Chicken meal in town. Large portion for under $10. Can't beat that.

This review is based on one lunchtime visit. Service by the young waitress was great but the food was so so. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was oversalted and lukewarm, not too good. It had obviously been precooked and then sat under a warmer with, presumably, other precooked items.

Everything I've tried here is great! The wait staff is really friendly and attentive also. Most things I get are off the brunch menu, which they only serve on Sundays. They have a regular menu now on Sundays also.

Very friendly staff. The food was good but nothing to wrote home about. Service was quick, food delivered hot, just rather bland and generic.

I had recently made a special dining visit to my favorite pub-n- grub and had the most amazing Mahi Mahi served over a bed of white rice topped with the most delicious crawfish Julie Sauce. The dish was made to perfection and my service was great. Thanks Mac, Brian, & Mr. Charles

Our waitress, Sarah, remembers us although we only stop in every couple of months. Today the wife and I split a lunch special of Turkey and Dressing w/ green beans. I found our lunch here to be more satisfying, and less expensive, than the Interstellar movie we went to afterwards.

Never going back for brunch, only for what they are good for....happy hour! Restaurant Rating What does each star represent? 0 * Unacceptable 1 * Poor 2 * Improvement Required 3 * Good 4 * Very Good 5 * Outstanding What do the Restaurant Rater categories mean? When rating, look around the restaurant and ask yourself the following questions: Cleanliness - 3 How clean is the restaurant? Yes Are tables/floor cleared of used food items? Yes Are utensils, plates and glasses cleaned properly? No Are food plates clean around the edges and neatly presented Yes Is food serving area clean and tidy? Yes Food Quality - 2 Food items were not fresh, the hash browns were hard and over cooked. The meat in the Monte Cristo Are drinks/coffee made correctly and with good quality products? No Is food presented well? No Food Portion - 3 Is my portion at the usual standard or is it above average in size and serving? Food Taste - 2 Does food did not taste fresh. Location - 4: Is the Restaurant/Caféeasy to find and easy get to? Yes Is parking/public transport convenient? Yes Does the Restaurant have views? Yes, but it's of the freeway Ambience - 2 The restaurant was noises with other folks complaining about their food. The whole vibe was off. Service - 1 The staff did not acknowledge us as soon as you arrived and the staff was not polite and attentive throughout the dining experience. The waitress just came up and said what will you have, didn't explain any drink or food options. Price - 3 the was price relative to what I ordered. The price is not competitive against other places because it's the worst brunch I have ever had. Below the Radar is now not the worst place in HSV.

This place came highly recommended as a locally owned brunch spot so my husband and I tried it out. Overall amazing! Server was very friendly and attentive. Drink specials and brunch menu were very reasonably priced. Love the layout especially the fish tank in the middle. The sides were great and maybe it was just the dish I ordered but they were better then the main dish. Hash brown casserole was delish! Will definitely try again soon. I prefer locally owned and operated so kudos to this place for beating out the many chains in Huntsville on the brunch menu.

I am under impressed with my meal. We ate during the Sunday brunch hours. From the time we placed our order to the time we were served was 45 min. This is way too long. When my meal was finally served the portion was incredibly small. The French toast was one slice of sandwich bread cut in two with a chicken tender on each. The tenders at Zaxbys are larger, just saying. The grits were thick and tasteless. Our waitress was friendly and apologetic for the slow food. I don't think this will be in our brunch rotation.

Tried WEG after getting a groupon for there. The staff i had the pleasure of having Hunter or Leo were super friendly and provided excellent service. I had the fried catfish platter and it was delicious. The fish was seasoned and battered perfectly.... Fries were hot seasoned and delicious. Fries are especially yummy w/their fresh made ranch dressing. The kids Fresh cut/battered chicken tenders plate was ok......but to me the chicken had a funny taste to it....I'll be back to sample more if their menu.

Beef tips, baked potato, broccoli, a cup of chili = winning. Fun and local, easy to get too.

West End Grill is a good local joint for traditional bar food and southern fare. The menu has things like burgers, sandwiches, chicken fingers, and some other fried choices. Highly recommend it if you're looking for moderate prices and good food.

I love love love this place for an after work happy hour, and absolutely love the staff and owners. Sweet people. So, this is painful. It was my first time eating there today and do NOT, do NOT order the Chicken & Dressing ($7.99) from the Express Lunch menu. It is described as "Oven roasted chicken served with homemade dressing and green beans" and was so bland it was beyond sub-high-school cafeteria quality. The dressing tasted canned, if that's possible, and was definitely straight from a box, and scooped out with a large ice cream scoop. There were no green beans, but it did come with turnip greens which were the worst I've tasted, no, I bet I have had worse greens, but these were bad. NO flavor. It's a crime against flavor to put food out like this. The chicken and dressing arrived at the table covered with a yellow gravy. I didn't know gravy was yellow. The chicken was shredded and there was a big pile of it, and it was, to their credit I guess, all white meat. I'm so confused by this meal. It was that bad. Companions said their crab cake sandwiches were good, but could have used a sauce and the server said the crab cake sandwich normally comes with a lemon aioli (no explanation as to why it was not served with the sauce today. Other companion had the chicken tenders and fries. His plate looked good. So, I'm thinking, "should have stuck with bar food items." Another positive: the server was nice, and friendly as was the hostess, and the food came out quickly, so kudos on that! I noticed the average customer's age when we were departing (as the place got packed just before noon) was mid to late 60s, so maybe WEG caters to that palate. And, since I do love the folks I know who work/co-own WEG, I am happy others love it enough to pack the dining room and even the hot patio today. If you Dr. prescribes a bland diet that doesn't require chewing, maybe post-root canal, or wisdom teeth extraction, then do go with the chicken and dressing.

I'm here at least once a week. Love this spot. Brunch menu is yummy on Sundays. I usually get the crab cakes eggs Benedict. The other brunch menu items I've ordered haven't failed me either. As far as their regular fare, they have one of the best ribeyes I've ever had. The $18.99 ribeye (pricing at the time of this review) rivals some of the $50-$75 steaks I've had in the past. And believe me, I've had plenty. Some other notable menu items are the broiled/fried catfish, patty melt, and Turkey club. Atmosphere leans more toward local neighborhood pub since there are mostly faithful regulars that frequent this wonderful establishment. If you're in the mood for a white table cloth or a gastropub type atmosphere, then this place isn't for you. Just hands down a great place for good food, good drinks and friendly conversation.

West end is very good. Brian and Kevin have done a great job revamping the menu. The majority of the food is very good. I am a picky eater so that says alot. My favorite dish is the creamy chicken and wild rice soup is a must! Also their brunch is really good. The service is good and alot of good people work there especially Robby one of the best bartenders in Huntsville. To the one reviews point I have hooked up there myself. Some friendly ladies can usually be found.

Came to the West End Grill after a change in plans with a coworker. It was not bad. I've always passed the WEG on my way to and from work but never thought to stop in for a drink. I should have gone sooner! Very cordial staff and the drinks have just enough alcohol to keep you from swerving on the way home... I'M KIDDING! The drinks could use a little more umph though. Me and my friend snacked on a sampler appetizer while drinking and conversing. The crawfish poppers and fried jalapenos were my favorites. Next time I go, if there is a next time, I might actually try an entree. As far as alcohol, I stuck with my usual amaretto sour. It was mixed well. The barkeep knew his regulars by name. All in all, a good place for a night cap or to begin your night on the town.

WEG is under new ownership. Three years ago I gave this place a 3 rating for lunch food and a 2 for service. This has all changed. The new owners have brought in a fresh attitude. One that has caused me to come back to this establishment repeatedly over the last few months. The upgraded menu with a new attitude in food preparation and service is felt in the meal itself and the service brought to the table and at the bar. Whether you come in for lunch, dinner, a beer, drinks, or just to relax and read a book on the patio, this is a place with checking out. If you counted off WEG in the past from places to visit, eat, or hang out, I would urge you to give this place another go. The interior hasn't changed much since the new owners took over, but there are plans in the works for that part of the atmosphere to be changed in the next 12 months as well. This place is now one of my regular stops. It should be yours too. And don't forget to try the crawdad pasta dish, you won't be sorry that you did.

One of my meetup groups has a monthly gathering here. We discussed trying out other venues, but the majority was pleased and satisfied with staying here. I agree. There's a nice selection of items on the menu, and the quality and size of food is more than adequate. And service varies depending on the wait staff - some keep my sweet tea filled to the rim, and other times I have to ask two or three times. What can I say? I'm a gussler! Unfortunately, our meetup gathering is always on the same night so I don't get to try their other nightly specials.

I've eaten here several times because it's close to work. The food is okay, the service....well let's just that unless you're a regular that eats there everyday, it's not very good. Probably won't go back.

Took the girl's to eat after spending time at Bridge Street. Fairly clean, but had a peculiar odor. The food was good - had a bison burger which was not too greasy.

I've been meaning to register for Yelp and this restaurant pushed me over the edge. That being said the experience I had at West End Grill was probably the worst I have had in years. It was lunch and after we instructed the staff that we were on a time schedule it took a full 50 minutes to receive our food. Unacceptable for lunch. In fact, we ended up paying a good 10 minutes before our food came out! After all this, not one word of apology from any member of the staff. To top it off , the food was pretty bad. I had the "special" spare ribs which were mostly gristle and bone. My coworkers ordered different things (Buffalo Burger, Chicken Sandwich) and had the same opinion. This is the first time in my life I have not left a tip, but at $9.00 I felt robbed. The place was packed though. Go figure.
