First off I am a very picky BBQ eater. I am a captive customer living around the corner from this place in the Homewood suites. SO after eating several times at the local mexican place Charrrito's, I had to try something new. Overall the BBQ was just ok. The meat was good (pulled pork and ribs) but the sauce is just meh. The side dishes were terrible. Mac N Cheese was the worst. Think it had been sitting around for a while. No cheese, mostly noodles and no taste. The BBQ beans were straight out of a bushes bean can...or at least tasted like it.. Not going back any time soon.

Very disappointing! I love the one in south Huntsville. This one is terrible. First of all, we sat and waited about 5 minutes without anybody greeting us or acknowledging us at all. Second, they got my friends beer wrong. He ordered an angry orchard and got an andygator. It was corrected eventually after we found our waitress. Third, my side items were wrong and once again we had to hunt down the waitress to get it fixed. We also didn't receive any bbq sauce and had to almost walk into the kitchen to get any kind of service. There is a spot next to where we are sitting, roughly an hour the items are still not bussed or wiped down. This place is filthy. There was some sort of employee not sure if it was a manager or not, but the kept going back to the kitchen and pouring themselves beer. Service was terrible. Food was average. Place was dirty. Very unsatisfactory. Stick to the one in south Huntsville if you feel like eating at this restaurant.

I give 'em three and a half, overall. The order taker / cashier girl was the best part of our visit tonight. She was patient and polite with us as we created an order. She did not give me a receipt, tho. If our order had not come out, what evidence would I have had that I'd ordered and paid cash? The kitchen seemed slow. Why did they need twenty minutes, to do what LawLer's does in twenty seconds? Our Pulled Pork was tender, and very good. I think I would have said excellent it they had just basted the outside and left the inside alone, for me to add a little sauce to taste. However, the meat tasted like it had been injected with light grease and a spice I wasn't real fond of. The only sauce bottle I saw available was hot sauce. The Cornbread was very good. I give the Potato Salad a three, as it was kind of bland. The Marinated Slaw tasted like it was marinated in sweet pickle juice. Different, but another three. Even my Pepsi was watery, low on syrup and fizz. That's a two. Most customers were dining outside tonight. We dined inside to escape the pollen in the air. The air conditioner was cold and drafty. The music tended toward loud and annoying. So I give the inside atmosphere a two, although the furniture and decor were very good. I expect we'll return, as the location is convenient for us. But not real soon.

The smoked wings are fantastic. The sides are very good too, but sometimes they run out. Service is average.

The best wings I ever have, love their banana putting!Inside is large and coze, let people want to stay!

So had to come back to try the wings, they were out the day prior. Had a good meal with great sides. Service sub par as bar tender was spending time spitting game to two young ladies. My second visit got the wing for lunch and I am glad I did. Taste is awesome and unlike any wing I have had. They are smoked first. White sauce (Alabama thing) replaced blue cheese very nice. Place gets packed.

My very first impression was very good. The place was very full on a Tuesday night. Maybe that's because it was trivia night, though. My second experience was a huge yawn from the staffer when I walked up to the counter to order. I don't have dashing looks, but I don't usually cause overwhelming boredom, either. The food was OK. I got the Turkey platter. It wasn't too dry, but it wasn't moist, either. The flavor was also just OK. The beans, on the other hand, were very good. I could get me a bucket of those, but we can all guess the disruption that could cause. The potato salad was not great. I like mine chunky. Otherwise it's just a cup of mayonnaise in mashed potatoes.

If you want to experience Moe's BBQ go to the one in south Huntsville. When it first opened this place was great, but seems to have been on the downhill since then. Over the past few months almost every time we have ordered food it's been cold and the sandwiches have definitely shrinked. It takes a long time and it's dirty most of the time when we walk in. Food 2/5: the past couple of times we've been here the food was cold and lacked any flavor. The Mac n cheese was basically greasy noodles with a rare piece of cheese. The banana pudding however is still great! Service 2/5: it's incredibly slow Atmosphere 3/5: right in downtown providence and they have bean bag toss on the street which is a lot of fun! The review its knocked from a 4 to a 3 because the restaurant often seems dirty.

Two adult meals and two children meals for $41.00. That's too much for mediocre food. The kids meals were $6.50 without a drink. They charged us for a drink that we didn't order and the cashier acted nasty when I asked for a refund. Won't be going back.

I had not eaten here in a while and really wanted the Shrimp "Moe" Boy so my husband and I went (against his better judgment). We ordered-it was very loud and we couldn't hear the person taking our order. In fact, we had to ask her to repeat herself three times!! The prices were high, but I thought it would be worth it. I even left a tip, however, I am not sure what I tipped for-we placed the order at a counter, got our own drinks, and picked up our own food! Not once did someone check on us. After ordering, I went to the restroom and tried to wash my hands. There was no soap. The sign above the sink stated that employees must wash their hands before returning to work. Well, that wasn't happening. I politely whispered to a female employee that the restroom was out of hand soap. She said they were out and that she didn't have time to go BUY soap since they were so busy and mumbled something else with an attitude. She told me if I wanted to wash my hands I could go to the other restroom. I was shocked!! We probably would have left at this point, but we had already ordered and paid and TIPPED! For what????? I am still asking myself. The food came and I was shocked again. The sandwich seemed to have shrunk from my previous visits - although it did taste good. The mac 'n cheese was cold. You can't go wrong with a bag of chips. My husband got a pulled pork platter. Again, very small portion, cold mac, and cold baked beans. The taste - ok. Not sure why the wait was so long - all of this should have been pretty easy and it was cold anyway. I will post pictures. My husband's hand will give an idea of the size of his platter, $10. My sandwich was on a tiny hamburger style bun (it was toasted and very tasty) - just small for $9. We won't be returning customers for sure!! There is better food for the price paid.

Fab smoked chicken wings but the pulled pork sandwich needed more meat. The standard sides were OK but nothing special. Maybe the special sides would have been better.

The smoked wings were so good. We really stopped in just to drink but decided to try the wings just because. All three in my group loved them. They are smoked then flash fried and served with a sweet ranch sauce.

Went in for dinner and to watch the NBA playoff game and initially found the place to be quaint from the outside, but once I sat down its somewhat dumpy, has no rhyme or reason with the decor, Alabama BBQ with a new Orleans motif, Jamaican music and a tiki hut as the centerpiece. Bartender wasn't much better, no personality, half deaf and very unmotivated about being at work. Was at work to hangout with friends or so than work. Menu is blah, not well delineated and again the bartender doesn't help here either. Food was ok for the price ordered the smoked wings received 9 wings in the order, nicely stacked with 3 nice size wings on top and minature ones on the bottom. Sides are a joke and the corn bread feels like a sponge. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone the really enjoys BBQ or is looking for an fun atmosphere.

Stay away from ribs unless you like fat....brutal....probably the worst ribs I have ever had.....stay with the Smoked Wings

Much better than I ever thought it would be. Lived the atmosphere and workers were great! The whole town is a really special place. Would love to visit again.

I'm not a huge BBQ fan but this place was highly recommended. Just a couple miles away from home so I figured I'd give it a try. I had ordered the smoked chicken sandwich with mac-n-cheese and fried green tomatoes. I had to stand in line for at least 10 minutes before even getting to the register to place my order and then wait another 15-20 minutes for food that I presumed should have already been prepared. Overall, the food was good, not great, but good.

Moe's at Providence is amazing! When I first moved here I was looking for wings, and all my co-workers said Moe's had the best...they were not buffalo wings, but honestly they are so good it didn't matter. Love this place!

I love coming here on Thursdays, they have a Thanksgiving menu. I love their pulled pork, sweet potato casserole, and cornbread. I've also walked by when they had live music being played which is something pretty different than what the other restaurants in the area are doing. Cons for some people might be that they serve small portions, but the nutritionist in me always does a victory dance because of that fact. It also can get loud if there is a big game being played, but that's to be expected.

Had the BBQ pork sandwich with beans and slaw! Everything was excellent! The live entertainment from the guitar player was a pleasant bonus as he played hits from the 80's. Casual atmosphere.

This is a pretty good BBQ place. I like the feel of it and the atmosphere is very relaxed. You order at a counter and pick it up, so you can choose where you sit. The inside is what I'd expect for a BBQ place, lots of big wood tables and booths. They also have an outdoor patio area for when it's nice outside. They have a lot of food options and they offer different sides each day (they also count banana pudding as a side, so that's definitely in win for my boyfriend). My favorites are the barbeque pork, macaroni and cheese, and corn sucatash. They also have pretty great cornbread (it has jalapenos so it's spicy, but it's also sweet cornbread so it gives a good balance). My favorite thing about this place, oddly enough, is the portion sizes. I'm aware this probably won't be a big draw for some, but their side portions are smaller but perfect for me. They serve sides in plastic cups, so you get the same amount no matter what. I like the smaller portions because I feel full at the end, but not stuffed either! Each plate comes with whatever you choose as your entree plus 2 sides and a piece of cornbread. If you're not super hungry, you can do what I do and order a kids plate (pretty much the same amount of meat, with only one side, cornbread, and drink all for $5.50).

Place does not exemplify good southern BBQ and service. Pork was cold and bland just like the service. Not a good experience at all. Went to McDonald after leaving. Food and service was better there.

1st time eating here and pleasantly surprised! Pork was among the best yet, could still smell and taste the smokey flavor. Potato salad was average, cornbread and banana puddin' were great too. Can't wait to come back

The que was good. The wings were the best of all that I tried here. The side were good and different than usual.

Was looking for good barbecue on a rainy 4th of July and found it here at Moe's. the two of us dined on tender pulled pork and catfish. The sides of slaw, tomato & cute salad, and beans were fresh without overpowering seasonings. Orders come with a slice of cornbread with a touch of jalapeño heat. Atmosphere is pub-like and food prep staff all seemed like they were enjoying themselves.

This is my family's favorite place to eat. Not only is the food delicious, but it's cheep and fast

Ate here tonight for the first time and I do have to agree with James B. the portions are small but I believe that is what is wrong with today's restaurants and why there are so many fat people in the US today. If more restaurants did what this place does here, which is give you a decent portion for a decent price, there would be a lot less obese people out there The food here is good. For ten dollars you get your choice of meat, bread, drink, and two sides. The ribs are about four inches long and sides come in 5 1/2 ounce plastic ramekins, drink comes with a 16oz cup with free refills. Decent amount of food that will fill you up. This business moved into a space that used to be a wine store. They definitely didn't spend much money on the buildout because most everything in this place is the same thing that was in the wine store. I might come back to Moe's but the next time I am out this way I still have to visit Brickhouse.

This is by far my favorite place in Huntsville. I always get the catfish or pulled pork. The sides are always changing, but that does not matter because they are always very very good. They do serve beer and liquor also. The prices are very fair for what you get. I have noticed the hush puppies are always over fried compared to other places, but I like it. I can see how others will think it's too burnt. The cornbread is just as good of an option though.

My smoked chicken was tasty. I have no idea what the red sauce and the white sauce were but they tasted good. The mac and cheese was just okay and the cole slaw was pretty good.

Moe's is like a lot of other BBQ restaurants in the Huntsville area, terrible. The Sauce is terrible, the portions are tiny, and the food is overpriced. If you're looking for good BBQ in the Huntsville area, this is not the place to go.

Well they just opened so maybe they are ironing out the kinks. Service is very slow. I didn't get my corn bread with my order and its expensive for what you get. 10 bucks for about a 4oz serving of pulled pork and your two sides are very small. About three bites of slaw or potato salad.

Establishment and area have nice decor. Place is clean. Music was playing and was not annoying. I came in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and I felt as if I was a burden on the cashier/host who was more interested about the young crowd at the bar. Also, i didnt get a receipt, which i initially didnt make an issue out of because i thought it would be with the order when it came out...it wasnt. Restaurant was not crowded. The meal ordered was the two meat platter. After I ordered the smoked chicken and some ribs I ordered beans and potatoe salad I saw that there were other sides other than what were posted, but again host really wasnt into helping by offering different items. What I got was a thigh and leg and two ribs. Ribs were already covered in sauce but that was notan issue. I could see that the rib meat was brown and the chicken skin was tight. No big issue as I wasnt expecting onsite cooked bbq, but I wasnt expecting ooverbooked ribs or heated bbq. The potatoe salad lacks a little more mustard flavor. The beans were good. The cornbread was awesome. There is a thousand island looking side sauce that I still dont know what it was for.

I was skeptical of this place based on the reviews but I think that they did a good job on the food. I had the pulled pork with corn bread and the 2 sides, Mac & cheese and baked beans. I just had the BBQ sauce that comes with it on top since the pork was tender and good by itself. And a flat tire lager.... Now for a nap.....

The food is not bad but the service is terrible. If you plan to sit at the bar good luck with getting a drink, food or a refill. Took forever to get our first drink and we never got another. I finally had to go to the counter to pay and complained to the girl. She said she only runs the register. Why have a bar if no one is manning it. If you use the place for take out then you should be fine but steer clear if you want to sit at the bar and drink a few beers.

I'm from Arizona and Moe's was the fourth Huntsville BBQ meal in 2 days. The best pulled pork and unique coleslaw that went perfect together. 5 stars.

Granted I do not have much experience with Southern barbeque, but when traveling to Huntsville I knew I had to give it a try. After going to Dreamland BBQ, we were impressed but after trying Moe's Original Bar B Que, I knew I was hooked. This stuff was so great, I'm disappointed I was not introduced to southern barbeque sooner. Traveling with a coworker we got platters and shared the pulled pork, smoked chicken, smoked turkey and chicken wings. All of these were delicious, but the cream of the crop from this plethora of southern goodness, were the chicken wings. I had always been taught to eat chicken wings with buffalo sauce on them, not these though, no sauce, but it came with this white sauce on the side. Glad I was convinced to try this, my god was it good (both with and without). While in Huntsville, I got to hear how experienced some people were about their barbeque. I swear, they were so detailed and passionate, I could smell and taste the words that were coming from their mouths. Discussing different techniques and ingredients, it's more than a science, barbeque is an art. The chicken wings were so delicious, I had to go back before my trip was over. If anyone is lucky enough to live in this area or visiting, I truly recommend this place. After looking at their website, Moe's just needs to start expanding north toward the Midwest and we'd all be happier for it.

Picked up our overpriced to-go order, smelled yummy all the way home, but unfortunately it didn't taste as good as it smelled...it was pretty much meh, lackluster sauce, meat was dry, portions fairly small (for the $), just wasn't worth the $

  • Joel B.

Really impressed with this place. I like the chill atmosphere and not having to wait for a waiter. Just got to the counter, order your food, and wait for a bit. The catfish and turkey are my favorite, but everything is good. I haven't had a bad side item yet (mac n' cheese, banana pudding, cornbread...Mmm). It may seem a little expensive, but it's really not that bad considering it includes a drink and the fairly large piece of cornbread. Pretty good beer selection too!

  • Anna M.

We liked the BBQ sandwiches. I am not sure what the problem is with bbq sauce in the area, but we have yet to find a sauce that tastes good. The pork here is tasty with a good smokey flavor. We found the portions size with the sides to be fine. The mac and cheese was just okay, nothing special. The collard greens were yummy and the cornbread was delicious. I am not sure what everyone is raving about with the banana pudding. We thought it was very average. The prices here are fair and we like the casual feel of the place . Since it is close to home we will definitely go back.

Amongst the group we had pulled pork and chicken. Delicious all around. The staff were friendly and helpful. Personally I loved the chicken and corn bread. Their sauce is outstanding! Moe's is definitely on our list for a return visit.

Picked this place because our first choice was closed... but WOW. Holy barbecue!!! I got the pulled pork sandwich with mac n cheese and slaw as sides. I seriously thought I died and went to heaven. The pulled pork was tender, soft, juicy, without a pinch of hard or burnt pork in it. Their slaw is vinegar based, so its a little different. Still amazing. Service was good, very attentive and friendly. You order at the counter then listen for your order to be called. Just know that you won't have a waitress if you sit in the dining room. We kept hopping up for sauce and what not. Not a huge deal, saves money on tipping, but just be mindful for people travelling with someone younger or less mobile.

The BBQ is good though doesn't really distinguish itself from other very good BBQ restaurants in the area. Go to this place for its beer selection and evening atmosphere that includes live music, and outdoor seating.
