This is my second favorite BBQ in Huntsville. It is not a fancy place, far from it. But most good BBQ joints aren't. On my visit I had pork, ribs, potato salad and baked beans. The ribs were just a little on the dry side, but it was also the end of the day. I was the last person they served that night, only person in the restaurant and they were cleaning up as I ate. Everything left me thinking that a follow up visit would not be out of the question in the future.

Excllent ribs and BBQ!! Super nice folks!! True Southern BBQ!! They have the right way of doing food. The smoker is right out back and makes the place smell awesome.

Best ribs I have had in Huntsville. In town for 10 days and tried 5 different places. As other yelpers state the baked potato dish is awesome. Kind owner dat and talked to me a bit. Really wanted to know if I liked everything. Could not get the Mac cause it was "in no condition to serve". Appreciate the honesty but love Mac with my BBQ. Coleslaw bland but didn't have room to finish it anyway. Not fancy at all but that's how I like a rib joint.

Surly service, mediocre BBQ. Won't ever come here again. Go to the Chinese place next door, MUCH better food.

Colleague and I went here after work tonight and were both very pleased. I normally ask the servers for recommendations, and the staff was awesome. They said that they sell a lot of brisket but said that today's pork was better than the brisket. They also recommended the loaded potato salad. I ordered pulled pork, a short side of ribs, loaded potato salad, and baked beans. Colleague had slaw, and pulled pork. They served us up right away, and they gave us a couple of hushpuppies and pork skins to boot. We were both excited about the texture of the pork. It was just right albeit a little short on the smoke. The bark was great but there wasn't quite enough. The ribs, however, were spot on. We both agreed they were the best thing on either of our plates. The sides ranged between good and great. Hushpuppies and skins were pretty good. The best sides were the slaw and the loaded potato salad. We just ate at Big Bob's the previous night--and we both agreed that Granville's was hands down better. I wish my hometown had BBQ this good!

The ribs were big country style dry ribs. They were tender but I prefer spareribs. The pulled pork was good but the brisket was best. It was tender and moist. The baked potato salad was good but from the reviews I'd read I expected more of a hot casserole with tidbits of brisket -- perhaps this is one dish that's only available by request and not on the menu? Service was prompt and dining area was clean ( health score was 91) but the kitchen area looked grungy. The day we went the temp was 39 and it did not feel much above that inside the place so it was hard to enjoy our dining experience.

Don't let the chained up tables and chairs discourage you. Great place to eat. Treated a friend for lunch and we had the pulled pork sandwich and the catfish. Great prices and service. Dessert isn't on the menu so you have to ask for it. Try the banana pudding.

Excellent ribs. Great bark! The baked potato salad was to die for. The other sides were not. Great staff.

Ate here twice. Food good both times. Called in ahead of time today to place a pickup order. Manager has not shown up so they can't take an order over the phone. I told them I would go there and place the order. Got there and they are swamped. This is not a good business practice to not be ready to open and manager not present to help. I spent $40 on a to go order. To top it off, there was no pintos cooked. If you are going to have a menu item, then don't advertise them. Table tops are sticky and dusty. Not sure they are being cleaned properly. The owner should be really appreciative of how hard these two guys are working despite manager oversight or lack of manager support to get orders out today, 6 Sept 2014 @ 11:50 am.

Their pulled chicken plate with baked potato salad goes together in perfect harmony! The service is outstanding as is their grub. Try, and be amazed.

Here is another long-time local favorite that my kids actually introduced to me to. The best thing going is the brisket sandwich, which is a delicious meat mountain. The sides are okay and the tea is good. I do not care for the dining room, it is small and awkward to navigate, so it is definitely a "to go" palce for me. I am also not sure why it's called "gourmet", as it seemed like regular down home barbecue to me.

I think my father and I were the customers ahead of Donna M. on Aug 16. We were completely ignored. Only when The owner walked in did the staff do anything. The food is great but I have a hard time endorsing an east establishment that made me (and my elderly father) feel as disrespected as we were

This business opened about 4 months ago and got a B+ from the Huntsville Times in March, so I figured I'd try it since I work right down the street. Munching on a pork shoulder sandwich w/ coleslaw and baked beans now and I have to say, it's pretty good...and only $5. The owner defininately had a good idea when he decided to park the smoker right out front so the smells and experience wave you right into the restaurant. The service was fast and friendly. The place was authentic and not kitchy. I hear the ribs are really tasty...perhaps next time!

This was fantastic BBQ! The best I've had in Huntsville. Service was slow, but well worth the wait. They were friendly and very helpful. Next time I'm town I'll be back. (They even accommodated the vegetarian in our group.)

I drove a truck locally for awhile and would drive by Granville's a couple times a day. It was like torture because I couldn't stop. Great BBQ. You have to try the baked potato salad. Mmmmmm.

I have never been to the restaurant itself and can only speak from experiencing their food at a catered company picnic. I fell in love with their baked potato salad, BOY I couldn't get enough of it. I volunteered to take all the leftovers home. The BBQ was really tasteful too. Not too dry and not too wet. I like my BBQ without sauce so I don't know how their sauce is. When I run out of those frozen leftovers I'm going have to visit their store for a refill. They might get that last star after I visit their location.

I had the Bar B Q chicken as did my wife. I had the leg and thigh. She had the breast. Both had a good smokey flavor. Bar B Q beans were good as was the potato salad. Chicken was moist and the skin was tasty. A little bread on the side would have been nice. A fair price was charged. Inside was small and a little crowded with tables. If you don't want to cook your own Bar B Q, I would recommend this restaurant. Not a fancy dinning experience but the food was very good.

I ate here on Labor Day. I shared a large rib platter with coleslaw and what they call "baked potato salad" as sides. I also had the smoked wings. Let me start by saying that both of the sauces here a really quite flavorful and they may have been my favorite part of the meal. The ribs were tender and were more STL style. The chicken had a nice smokey flavor, but the wings themselves were a little on the fatty side for me. The sides were ok. Neither was great, but both were serviceable. The service here was really nice which I think really adds to the overall experience. They said they've been open since around November. Next time I'm in Huntsville, I will more than likely return because I saw the brisket on someone else's plate and it looked outta this world.

Love this place! I've had the brisket both times and it was excellent. The baked beans are great, as well. Haven't tried the ribs but looking forward to it.

My 1st visit to Granville's was very pleasant. My husband and I split a Beef Brisket Platter ($12.95). It came with at least 6 or 7 nice thick slices of brisket and 2 sides. For sides we chose the Baked Potato Salad and BBQ Baked Beans. The Baked Potato Salad is Mayo based and it was AWESOME. In fact the small amount on our platter was so good we purchased a cup size to continue to share - $2.11. The BBQ Baked Beans were thick with pork BBQ added. I am not a big fan of BBQ Baked Beans but these were very nice and I would eat them again. The brisket was a little on the tough side, but it had a nice smoke ring and good flavor - before adding sauce. There were 3 sauces to choose from for meat. A sweet tasting white sauce, a traditional red BBQ sauce - again sweet tasting and a Vinegar sauce with a little sweet taste. It turned out that my favorite for the brisket was the Vinegar sauce. It is a small cozy place with limited seating. I never did see signs for a restroom, but I am sure they have one. I would recommend trying Granville's for BBQ. I want to try the Ribs on our next visit. In fact I would like to try their BBQ Stuffed Potatoes.

very good pork and brisket. regular sized sandwiches well worth the $5. expect sides to have sat for a while so don't get the mac n' cheese. overall good eats.

The BBQ is mediocre and the kitchen just didn't look clean. There are a lot better BBQ places out there for the money.
