About TGI Friday
TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.
Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. Another Dairy Queen "clone" with soft-served custard, instead of soft-served ice cream. Classic DQ short-order grill items (like chicken fingers, hot dogs, burgers) are much better than the typical fast food fair from the national chains. This particular location has a flat screen TV visible to most of the dinning room.

Thankful that I had a Groupon and only paid $4.80 for $10.00 of food here. First time here today. If I ever return, it'll be to try the frozen custard and nothing else. It was hot and humid inside the restaurant. The floors were sticky. I wasn't surprised to see their food safety rating as an 85/100. Oy. Opted for the chicken tenders, since that's their specialty. Also got onion rings, because I can't pass up onion rings... ever. Unfortunately they were cooked in fryer oil that needs changed, resulting in a burnt tasting, chewy mess. I pulled the onions out and threw away the breading. $2.99 is high for this small portion (see photo). The tenders, which the manager raved were hand breaded right there, were cooked in the same old oil. The only flavor they had was "burnt". Once again I peeled off the breading. Inside was juicy tenders - surprise! They were small, but had potential. The fries that came with the tenders were somehow undercooked and raw in the middle. If they are going to serve fried food, please learn how to fry food. Saw an employee in the kitchen drop a stack of napkins. I watched her pick them up and wondered if she'd throw them away or keep them to use. As I suspected, she put them right on the counter to use. When she saw me watching, she moved the stack out of my sight, but not into the trash. 'Nuff said.

Just another fast food restaurant. Their custard is pretty good and their food is decent. The restaurant is usually clean and the staff is nice, ive seen them fighting before though, seems like not all of them get along. Nothing special.

The reason I was impressed with this place you ask? They have 3 types of chicken fingers...regular, buffalo, and grilled. A fast food place with grilled fingers? That's awesome. Even more awesome is that they when I ordered a 4 piece basket they let me get two buffalo and two grilled. The fries were kind of soggy. I've not tried the famous custard. This is very similar to a Dairy Queen. They have 3 locations: Huntsville, Moulton, and Boaz. I kind of wish there were one close to my home.

I had to wait almost 15 minutes in the drive-through line behind 1 car for an ice cream that cost over $5 and was quite small. It tasted ok though.

The custard is really good. Never tried the food, but I went here to try an Oreo concrete and I wasn't disappointed. Make sure you are a little bit hungry when you go though, because it's very filling.

Pretty darn good for fast(ish) food. Their chicken and fish baskets are a bit on the pricey side compared to what you'd get at McDonalds for a similar order, but they actually are made out of recognizable chicken and fish fillets and the fried fish is actually better than most that you'd find at sit-down restaurants. Their custard isn't anything to write home about, but it's not bad and it does come in a huge variety of sizes, flavors, and toppings.
