We went today and I ordered the falafel wrap and I feel like it is the best in town. Other half got the 12'' Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, it was huge! We shared an order of seasoned fries which was plenty! Great prices and delicious food that is made fresh and served promptly! We will be going there very soon! The owner was very friendly!

Might be the best Cheesesteak in Shelby County. The crew I was with ordered a variety of sandwiches. The gyro was judged to be superior to Purple Onion's. Highly recommend.

My husband and I visited last week. First off, it is more of a sandwich shop with tables, not a fancy place. The owner was the only person there and took our order and cooked the order. My husband had a gyro and fries and I had the gyro plate. We both enjoyed them very much, and it was the best gyro meal we have had since moving to Alabama, and we have been looking. We will be back to try some of the other menu items.

I've tried this place 3 times. The only thing i liked was the falafel sandwich. The club sandwich was not near as good as a Subway Club. And at Comeback, you cannot see the ingredients going onto your sandwich. I think the owner uses some mystery meats. When i looked at the sandwich at home the meats and cheese were unrecognizable. Last night I tried the pastrami sandwich. Definitely thumbs down. Did not look or taste like real pastrami. And i could not see or taste the cheese. To cap it all off, the owner has a weird, pushy personality. He thinks he should tell you what should go on your sandwich instead of the customer getting what he wants. I will not be going back.

Went because of the yelp reviews after the boys' race. Only the girls were disappointed in the grilled cheese (too burnt for them), but everyone else was very happy. The wings come "one way-my way" but they were delicious, so who cares? Be sure to dip them In the ranch sauce. I don't even like ranch, but they go perfectly together. Grace wanted to order her own after she tasted mine. Will be back next year after the next Xterra.

The sauce(s?) on the gyro are unbelievable. I couldn't eat it all at once, and it was even good cold later. I tried the philly today, and it is also amazing. Everything is made to order. Today was only my second visit, and he called me by my first name. Great service, great food. Must try.

Was a little annoyed at first because it was freezing cold in this restaurant and we waited for a while for our food. Luckily once we got our food it was so good that I was instantly no longer annoyed. It was worth the wait and frozen toes.

This is probably the best kept secret in the Pelham/Hoover area and my new favorite restaurant. The food is amazing and the owner, Hamad, is quite the character. He is a great guy and probably the most enthusiastic person I've ever come across in the restaurant industry. We talked on my first visit and he calls me by name every time I come in. This restaurant is extremely clean and there's a large window where you can watch you food being prepared. This is a restaurant that definitely needs some more support from the locals. So with that being said, make it a point to go check it out and support the local business. Hamad recommends the Philly cheesesteak so I tried it on my first visit. Truthfully it was probably the best cheesesteak I've ever had in my life. Gyro was pretty good. But if you're a burger and fries kinda guy/gal then you won't go wrong trying this burger. It's fresh meat and delicious. With fries and a drink you're looking at the $8-10 range; however the fries have light lemon pepper season which make the fries pop. All in all, I will be a regular here and you HAVE to give this little hole in the wall a chance! I promise you if you try it out, you will not be disappointed.

I had noticed this new place for some time, Vallydale and Hwy31, and finally stopped in for lunch. The owner, Hamad, was super friendly. I ordered the 12" Philly Cheese Steak. It was fantastic and huge. I eat 12" Subways all the time but I could only eat half of this sandwich. I took the rest home and enjoyed for supper.

Very delicious food! I had been hearing about this place from several co-workers who frequent it and had been wanting to try it. I had a gyro and ranch fries and have a feeling this is going to become a regular meal. The ingredients tasted fresh and the wrap was a good size. The owner was very nice and seemed like a very hard working man. I will definitely be back.

Great new restaurant with wonderful Gyros that you can watch being grilled. Philly cheese steak also great. Small restaurant that is very clean and the owner is very friendly. Cooked to order but they work fast. Benn back every week since it opened

Went in twice last week. 1/2 lb angus burger was very good. Fries were hot, crisp & seasoned well. Went with my wife next evening and had a great chicken philly hoagie on fresh bread. Plan on going for lunch tomorrow. Great food and a very good value.

My wife and I visited after Siri returned The Come Back Grill as close to our hotel. A number a positive Yelp reviews sealed the deal. This is a small place squeezed in an old strip mall. Certainly nothing special in the decor, and if you park directly in front you can read the menu (over the register inside) from your car. I'd planned a burger, and my wife is a cheesesteak fan so those were our orders. I took a risk with the Come Back Sauce rather than ketchup/mustard. My wife asked for it on the side. The owner was nonplussed. "On the side? If you get it on the side you might as well go to another restaurant." It was starting to feel like a Seinfeld episode. Several of the small number of seats are in view of the kitchen, so when the owner pulled the fresh baked bread (that we could smell) from the oven he made a point to show it to us. The meal was served in short order. The bacon cheeseburger and the Philly cheesesteak were excellent, as were the seasoned fries. The Come Back Grill, like so many local joints, has its own personality, with a personable owner, friendly staff and great food. Highly recommended.

This place is outstanding! I don't know how it was open for over a year without me knowing. Their philly steak is one of the best I have ever had and the gyro was great also. I can't wait to go back.

On a friends recommendation we stopped by today. Had a philly and my wife had the kefta plate. My philly was excellent with some of the best fries in town. The kdfta was tender and not dry like many other spots around town. Well worth a stop if you are in the area. A definite step up from the main Gyro joint in Bham.

We love this place! The staff is nice - friendly atmosphere - the restaurant is clean and the food is outstanding. We highly recommend the Philly steak sandwich with fries. Full of flavor on a soft fresh bun. (I personally find the onion rings quite delightful)...we will definitely 'come back'

This place was small a kind of hole-in-the wall type place but it was very clean. When you walk in you order at the counter and pay then you sit where ever you want. The plates and cutlery are plastic/styrofoam but for me it didn't take away from the experience at all. The soda machine is accessible so you can get up and refill your drink whenever you need to which is nice. The kitchen is open so you can see them cook your food and the owner is extremely accommodating and friendly. The food was spectacular! I had the gyro plate which comes with four pita slices, the lamb slices, tatsaki sauce, hummus, rice, and what looked like the Greek version of pico de gallo. It essentially was a deconstructed gyro. I also tried my father in law's ranch fries that were very yummy and my daughter chicken fingers and regular fries were also superb! I would definitely recommend and revisit this place!

The food is made fresh. The owner makes almost all the food and is very pleasant, courteous and attentive. My husband goes in to pick up the orders and he comments on how nice he is. The food is very tasty. I wasn't exactly blown away by the cheeseburger, but even so, it was better than 90% of the burgers n Birmingham. A couple of nit-picky concerns I have are: The honey mustard is the yellowy clear kind instead of thick and creamy. It tastes somewhat artificially flavored. The fries are seasoned well, but I'm not keen on the shape and texture of the fries. They're kind of dry and slightly overcooked? It's hard to explain. Also, there is sometimes inconsistency. I believe that comes with preparing food fresh. 95% of the time the food is awesome, but then there's the other 5% where food may have been cooked too fast, not thoroughly cooked, or fried too hard. Everyone makes mistakes. My favorite dish so far is the Philly Cheesesteak. It is very easily the best Philly Cheesesteak I've ever had and I have been to Philadelphia and have family in New Jersey. The hot wings are also delicious as well as the chicken salad. The chicken salad tastes very fresh and I believe he prepares it to order. For some reason, he is rarely crowded on the off hours. I don't know if he is crowded at lunch or not. I also like the chicken salad on a Pita. All of the ingredients were fresh including the lettuce which is often stale in most restaurants (especially chains). I will update this review as I sample more dishes. Overall, I recommend this restaurant. I hope he keeps up the quality. I have a strong feeling that he will. Update: We went back on (03/13/2015) and the fries were absolutely perfect. Well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. Not too firm and not undercooked. Perfect. Also, the hot wings were literally some of the best wings we have ever had without a doubt. tasty, spicy, with a little bit of sweetness and cooked to perfection. On the next day, (03/14/2015) we had the wings again, and they were not nearly as good. There wasn't enough sauce and they were not as thoroughly cooked. Thus the reason for the three stars. We may visit again, and will increase our rating if he has kept up quality.

My wife and I have been searching all over the Birmingham area for falafels. Tonight we discovered CBG. We both had the falafel plate which was excellent. No other restaurant we have tried even comes close. Enjoy!

This was my first time at The Come Back Grill. My parents, myself, my husband and a friend. We all LOVED our meals and all tried different menu items. (Gyro, "The Comeback Burger," The Philly, and I can't recall what else.) I had the gyro. It was GREAT! Also, my mom said the bread on the Philly was very fresh. The owner was very personable and friendly. We will be back and will recommend it to friends!

This will be a new go-to place for us. Tried the Gyro & husband & boys had the Philly Cheese Steak and one of the other boys had the Cheeseburger. Really enjoyed the Gyro, great flavor. The boys & hubby enjoyed theirs as well. Owner is super nice and really enjoyed talking with him.

Went with a friend today for lunch. The owner is really nice. I had ordered fries with my burger and they came out cold. The owner offered to make me a new order, we had already finished so we declined his offer. The burger was well seasoned--as were the fries. The come back sauce on it was very good. My friend ordered the cheese steak. Thought it needed more cheese, the owner came out and brought a couple of pieces to add to the sandwiches. Not sure if we'll be back.

We went within days of opening, after the article in the BHM News. We ordered the Philly cheese steak and it was good. I'm not of big fan of cheese whiz and that's what they put on it, along with their sauce. They were very busy so it took a while to order and get our sandwiches but I think it was due to recently opening.
