This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. I love coming here, but it can get a little pricey, especially after ordering everything you need to truly experience the bliss of this place! They have a lobster spinach queso dip that is absolutely delicious. Big chunks of lobster, stringy cheese...what more could you ask for in an appetizer? Last time I ate here, the waitress actually said that a lot of people go in, order some drinks and the queso dip and then just sit there and munch on the chips and dip throughout the evening. Sounds like a plan to me! For my entree, I always order the bleu cheese filet mignon. I know, I hate people that always order the same thing, too. But you know what? One taste of this thing and you'll never want to order anything else either. I had never given thought to bleu cheese and pretty much assumed that since it's a strong cheese, I probably wouldn't like it. I have a very picky palate. For whatever reason, I tried it years ago and haven't looked back. I've even tried to reproduce it at home, but I'm never successful. Even if I could reproduce the sauce, the steak is so delicious and tender and juicy, I doubt I could get it to be identical! Of course, I get a baked potato with the steak. This place has awesome potatoes, let me tell you. To me, the sign of a good baked potato is that it's crusted with salt. That's exactly what you get here, and they're always hot and fresh. For dessert, you MUST try the creme brulee cheesecake! I've never had anything that comes close to it. It's absolutely perfect, though I can never finish all of it after all the food I've had up to that point. No one minds having to help me out, though! It's basically a plain cheesecake with the torched sugar topping that one usually finds on creme brulee. On top of this, they put a few berries and also around the plate (strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries). They also add a very tangy berry syrup for you to dip your cheesecake in or completely ignore, whichever you prefer. The tang of the sauce and the sweetness of the cheesecake really get your taste buds dancing, though. Service is always great, and I cannot think of one time when I left disappointed. This place is truly a gem in the greater Birmingham area.

We tried to go Friday night, but there was an hour wait, and people were still pouring in, and to me, that's a good sign. Went back Saturday afternoon for an early dinner and couldn't have been happier. We were seated right away, and our server, Ashley, was great. She is very knowledgeable, and friendly. Being new, I asked for recommendations, she not only told us what she liked, but what people seemed to order the most. This is a person who knows her customers, and restaurant well. I started with a cup of Chicken Tortilla soup, which was terrific, and I highly recommend it. The chicken was fresh, the tomato/chicken/cheese stock was thick, and the tortilla strips were the perfect touch, as well as the dollop of sour cream. I followed it up with the delmonico steak. It's rubbed with a chile seasoning, but I changed that to make it pepper crusted, and it was the right decision. The steak was a good size at about 14oz. I ordered it medium well, and that's the way it was prepared. The steak had very little fat, and was too big for me to finish, but I loved it. It came with a side of southwest au gratin potatoes. It would have never occurred to me to season potatoes with chile, and other southwest seasonings but they were great. At $19.95, it was a great value. I've been to other steakhouses, but for me, Firebirds is the best I've had, and is definitely my choice for steak in the Birmingham area.

This restaurant is just fantastic! They are so caring and courteous. I've never had a bad experience here. The wait times are very reasonable and the food is worth the wait. The decor is very stylish and the lighting is great. You'd think that it's one of those overrated snooty restaurants but it's not. Laxed dress code but enough about that, lets get to the food. The bartenders make great cocktails. Being a bartender myself, I am very critical of what I drink and I've yet to get a bad mixed drink. The appetizers are phenomenal. I highly recommend the lobster and spinach dip! The ceasar salads are very tasty along with the bread the serve fresh. I almost got full one time off it. Lol. The sides are just great. The fries, tots, fresh veggies, the potatoes (both mashed and baked) are so wonderful. The steaks are what I come for. The Aspen Sirloin steak when they had it on the menu was always succulent. They have now replaced it with the Butcher Cut Sirloin and it's just as good, if not better! I always order my steak medium and it almost always come our juicy. There was one time where my steak was over cooked and I let the server know and she immediately took it up and the manager personally served me a new steak cooked to perfection and paid for it himself. He apologized for the inconvenience and assured me that as long as I keep coming back, I'll continue to get the best. He stayed true to his word. I can honestly say that this is my favorite restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant! You won't be disappointed!

Not spectacular, but an ideal place to take a group of "mixed" eaters (vegetarians, meat-eaters, GF, omnivores....not sure about vegan. Give them some bourbon and a piece of celery and be done with it.) Fine and efficient service and nothing-to-complain-about food.

Took friend here for their first firebirds experience and they loved it. They got rid of my basil ginger mango mojito ( really disappointed ). Food was good as always.

Take your flock of birds to Firebirds! I have yet to come across a Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in sunny Florida but I was fortunate enough to stop in for lunch during my holiday trip to Alabama. The food is pretty typical steakhouse style food but many of the entrees seem to feature a unique twist that really leave a lasting impression. I was able to try the Coconut Shrimp and the sauce was out of this world! It has a Thai-Chili taste to it combined with citrus flavors. The service was extremely friendly and the food was served in a timely manner. I can dig it! Can you?

We love this place! Fantastic food and wine list. The shrimp salad is to die for. We never have to wait too long and the staff is super friendly. Definitely a Birmingham staple!

I adore this place. The steaks are always cooked to perfection. I always order the mushrooms with mine and they are delicious. The staff was friendly. We had 2 waiters due to one being trained. You could tell that he was new but he did a great job. They also have great drinks as well.

Great food and romantic ambience. I think the music selection is a little weird for the atmosphere though. On both trips here I've ordered the bacon cheeseburger with a loaded potato. Both times I enjoyed my order. The hamburger was well done as I ordered, but juicy and not burned. My date ordered the Delmonico both times and he enjoyed it immensely. Will go back eventually and try one of the steaks.

stopped in for a quick.lunch while shopping. Had low expectations -- there are so many lmediocre ookalike midscale chains these days -- but was very pleasantly surprised. My Colorado chicken salad was set apart from the crowd by a healthy serving of *very* tasty wood-grilled chicken. (Word to the wise: ask for dressing on the side.) My husband's french dip was equally tasty and accompanied by excellent slaw and steak fries. A pleasure to taste fries cooked in fresh vegetable oil. Overall, fresh and well prepared food at reasonable prices. We'll be back!

Good after work drinks and I like the fish tacos. Great service. rhe ATMOSPHERE is nice also.

This chain does a few things right but more things wrong. Food is over seasoned - particularly over salted or not seasoned at all. My son ordered the Chicken Pasta which was supposed to be spicy. Black pepper has more spice than this dish. I ordered a Caesar salad and filet with shrimp. They didn't course out the meal and brought my entree before I was half finished with my salad. The steak was a nice cut but served luke warm. They did replace my sons pasta with some grilled shrimp and I hate to sound ungrateful but it honestly had way to much salt on it. I'd rather spend more money for a better meal.

I visited this restaurant with some co-workers an hour before they closed based off of the previous good reviews. Our server (Brandy) greeted us after a few moments and seemed friendly and actually told us her favorite menu items. We ordered an appetizer of wings and they tasted great so we were looking forward to the entrees. Once our food was ready it sat in the window for a good 3 minutes as several servers walked by and looked at the food yet failed to deliver it to our table. Finally someone stopped doing their closing duties and delivered our food to the table. I ordered the smokehouse chicken sandwich and when my food was brought out it was beef. One of the male servers came to check on us and asked how everything was and I told him about the error with my food. Instead of the server apologizing and getting the kitchen to make it immediately, he stated that he would have to get Brandy. Several minutes passed and Brandy finally came out and didn't even apologize for the mistake but said we'll get you another one right out. (Note the manager was standing right beside our table and overheard the error but never once came to the table to apologize either) As I was waiting for the re-make, I noticed the cooks cleaning the equipment and sweeping the floors at the same time as they were preparing the food. Needless to say I cancelled the order all together. I will not be back.

Well what can I say that hasn't been said. My wife love this place. Great atmosphere and great food. All the steaks are great. The Chicken Quesadilla is a great starter. It could hold its own as a meal. The Grilled Shrimp & Strawberry Salad is a must try. And if you love potato's then you will love there sides.

We love this place! Try the burger with sweet potato fries or the shrimp and strawberry salad. The house wine is pretty good. We have gone here at least 15 times and will continue to go back.

Just had dinner and it was fabulous 2 of us had the ribeye steaks other the cheeseburger some of the best food we have eaten, will return when I'm in town again loved it! Tender, juicy, could not ask for any better.

Very good food. I'm from Ohio and this restaurant came highly recommended. I would go back. The steak was top shelf.

  • Mark S.

After reading the other reviews and noticing that they were all consistent we thought that we would give the restaurant a try. I am always a little cautious of pricey chain restaurants. We had the family so we needed a menu with a variety of items and this menu did. I had the ribeye which for once was not overcooked and was done just right. I like mine medium rare and this steak was cooked true to that. My wife's coconut shrimp were flavorful, plump and she received a good number of them. My salad was just okay and we never received our fresh bread at the beginning. The service was excellent and our waitress was very friendly which always helps to make up for any other shortcomings. This is not a prime steakhouse and yes it is a little pricey for what you get, but if you're looking for good food and don't mind paying a little bit more, this restaurant has a menu that is worth exploring.

Good food and a great atmosphere. We brought the fam for dinner. Burgers are large and tasty. Lobster and spinach queso was amazing - ask for extra chips! Busy place but worth the wait. Would be five stars but it took forever to get drinks and refills and with kids they could have some crayons for the kids menus.

Premium price for pretty good food. I was hoping for a thicker piece of salmon than the filet, so I would order it medium rare next time. The mahi special was excellent. Will definitely try again.

I had a steak, medium ... Daughter had steak, medium rare ... Both cooked perfect, and tasted amazing. Dessert was really good ... Creme Brûlée and Big Daddy Chocolate cake ... Service was really great ... Candle served with Birthday cake ! Be back soon!

We had ribeye, sweet potato waffle fries, baby back ribs. The steaks were good, sweet potatoes waffle fries were good, but like someone's else pointed out here they get too carry away with the salt on everything else. Seasoned fries were extremely salty. I was disappointed with the ribs, they were small, salty and didn't had as much meat as other places I've been too. We were unlucky and we got a bad waitress. She forgot to offer the bread which is something I like about steakhouse restaurants. She didn't show any sign of interest in providing a good service. We have been here only once so the experience is probably a lot better with a different waitress but I feel it's a bit overprice for the overall experience we got there. Try other things in the menu because they may be better, but I don't recommend the ribs or seasoned fries. In the future I will ask for something else to see if I have better luck.

I'm very pleased by the food quality, selection, flavors and nice servers. I always enjoy my meal and never feel rushed. The steaks, ribs, burgers, fish and let's not forget the crispy spinach! They also have flavorful martinis that are worth a try.

The lobster queso nachos were good but every other food item I had tasted like the finishing ingredient was a half shaker of salt! The nachos (we just brushed the salt off), the ribs (salty under a too heavy slathering of too sweet sauce) and the fries (I sent mine back in exchange for a fresh order that wasn't salted) were all too salty to eat. For $60 for lunch for two, I expected more. My wife's salmon was good and she liked the pineapple cocktail, but I doubt we'll go back.

The food was good the wait staff was friendly it has a cozy feel. It gets my vote for a great place to dine. I would take special guest and business clients here. I would even call it a family friendly place or a place to host big events. I will return to this place at some point without hesitation but there are too many other places to try to stay just here!

Went back last night and ordered something totally different from my usuals...I was in a sandwich mood and taking the risk that one of my favorite chains would leave me happy. And happy I was! We started with the Ranch Rings. I typically love panko crusted onion rings and these didn't disappoint. Cooked perfectly and crusted just right. I wish the onions were a bit thicker but still good. They serve the large plate of rings with a side of ranch, which paired well but we love the good traditional ketchup combination...so our server quickly brought us some. YUMMY. I was debating between the cheeseburger or the chicken, bacon sandwich. I went with the chicken sandwich and substituted the fries with a mixed side salad. Very Good! Service as usual was really good and attentive. SInce it was late Sunday night during Spring Break weekend, the restaurant was not busy which was nice for us: quiet, and food came out quick!

This place was fantastic! Good atmosphere, great service and great food. The meat is all cooked on an open wood burning grill that gives it a great taste. The baked potatoe and the vegtables were great as well. Had a great kids menu and was reasonably priced for the quality of food.

Met a large group for dinner last night. A few of us arrived early at sat at the bar. Staff was friendly and the pours on our cocktails were generous. Really enjoyed the Ranch Rings while we waited for our table. Very crispy and delicious. Ask for extra dipping sauce! Steaks were great and can recommend the Ribeye and the fantastic bleu cheese filet. Both were nicely seasoned and had a smokey grilled flavor. The desserts were average, (Key lime pie & creme brulee cheesecake) so I would skip these. Service started out good considering our large group of 20, but as the dinner progressed, the service slowed a bit. This is a chain restaurant and is located in a shopping center, but if you are in the mood for a tasty reasonably priced steak, consider Firebirds.

I have been to a few Firebirds while traveling and have grown disappointed with the food. Ate here tonight and strip steak ($28) had A LOT of fat and my baked potato was apparently a leftover from yesterday. I would expect more from this level of a restaurant. I'm really not sure Firebirds is that much different than Outback.

Firebirds is our favorite restaurant in Birmingham. Knock on wood, I've never had a bad experience. The atmosphere is very pleasant; it's a busy restaurant but each booth has a private feel. Wine selection is great and well priced. The martini selection is a bit slim but the Go Go Martini is yummy. For an appetizer I recommend the Ranch Rings. For your entree, anything; it's all good, seriously. My favorite is the Filet or the Salmon. The BLT salad is also excellent.

  • Tina W.

Delicious grilled meat - seriously, one of the best ribeyes I've had. The fire grilled flavor is so good. You can't go wrong. If you have room left for dessert, you won't be disappointed in that department, either!

What is there to say about Firebirds? Great food, Fantastic drinks and good service make this a wonderful place to go. It does get crowded but people flock to good places and this is one of the best!

Was enthusiastically endorsed by local hotel, but should have know better. Not bad but nothing great. Ordered a martini and the pour was so small it barely covered the bottom! All food and service was average. If you think that Olive Garden is good italian or Chipolte is Mexican then you will love it!

Let's get straight to the point. This place is fantastic! The food, service and atmosphere all compliment one another. If you live in the Riverchase Galleria area, frequent or just pass by, this place is guaranteed to satisfy any tastebud. Enjoy!

I have dined at Firebirds in Hoover on several occasions. It has become one of my favorite places to enjoy a good meal and especially to have a great steak. The restaurant is more upscale then an average steak house, but still casual enough to be family friendly. It is similar to J. Alexander and Houston's. The theme of the restaurant is a mountain lodge in Aspen, Colorado. The decor is beautiful, and the centerpiece is a large stone fireplace. The exposed wooden beam ceiling and rich southwestern colors give you the feel of an upscale lodge located in the Rockies. The last two times that I have had dinner here I ordered the same entre, and I have not been disappointed. I had the Pepper Crusted Sirloin and a side of Spiced Pecan Green Beans. The sirloin is Certified Angus Beef that is rolled in cracked black peppercorns and then cooked over the wood burning grill. The steak is a cut very thick similar to a Filet Mignon cut. I ordered my steak medium and it was cooked to my liking, pink throughout. The steak was very tender and flavorful. The green beans are awesome. The fresh green beans are sauted with a teaspoon of crushed pecans that add a sweet accent. On our last dinner there, wife also ordered the sirloin. Papa was in town for a visit, and she ordered the Wood Grilled Salmon. I am not a big fan of Salmon, but I sampled Papa's and I thought it was delicious. The fish was fresh, seasoned nicely, and had the hint of smoke from the wood burning grill. I would recommend this dish. The children's menu includes typical choices. The entrees include a choice of two sides. On this occasion, Kristine ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with sides of Mac and Cheese and French fries. Jennifer ordered the chicken fingers with honey mustard. Her sides were mashed potatoes and fresh fruit. These portions were huge and both girls brought home enough for a left over meal. As an appetizer we have had the Ranch Rings. These are fried onion rings served with ranch dressing. The dish is presented with the rings stacked tall on the plate to form an onion ring volcano. I would recommend this as a starter. There are many other entrees that sound delicious and I am anxious to try. In particular the Bleu Cheese Filet, Chile Rubbed Delmonico, and Herb Roasted Prime Rib all sound excellent. As for a fish option, the Sesame Encrusted Salmon sounds like it would be worth a try. I would also like to try the port mushrooms side.

After raving about this place in a review 3 1/2 months ago, the place has gone to Hell. It's too expensive to tolerate the poor quality of both the food and drinks. I'm still giving it three stars because their service recovery was impressive. The management took care of things so well, I almost felt guily about complaining.

I have eaten twice here and both times, have had a delicious experience! The fried Spinach is a must-have. I don't do steak, so I always order the fish. It's never a disappointment, but be prepared...the portions are rather hearty!

Our office often orders lunch from Firebirds. It is consistently good. The salmon is great and i've tried several of their salads. All have been delicious.

Sad that I can't give this place 5 stars because it doesn't fall at the right part of my price/demand chart. The food here is very good though. I think my favorite things here are the seared tuna-- seared to perfection. And this place is not like many steak places where I have to order more rare than I would want to eat (as many places I've found tend to over cook your steaks). At Firebirds, I get exactly what I order. If I had to pick another favorite-- I would have to say the chile rubbed delmonico! Thinking about this makes me hungry again! O_O

Best Steaks in Birmingham. I've never had a bad steak here at Firebirds. Whether it be prime rib, fillet, or ribeye, it was always generously cut and cooked to a medium rare the way I like it. Atmosphere is casual and setting is tavern-esqe. If I'm in the mood for steaks, but too lazy to do my own, I'll head to Firebirds.

Firebirds is one of my absolute favorites. This one is the closest to Atlanta that I am aware of. There are several in the Charlotte, NC area. Great food and great atmosphere!

We arrived at 5:30P.M. on a Thursday night, thinking we would get there early, before the crowds. Wrong! There was a 20 minute waiting list (which actually turned in to 35 minutes). The decor is nice, the booths are a little tight ( and we are not fat). The waitress was very nice and constant attention. The prices were pretty steep for getting an entree and one side (come on, how much can a small salad hurt your profits?). The before dinner bread was very delicious. Good for two people, but three or more you get a small piece. My wife ordered the smaller prime rib with green beans. Large portion of green beans, a tad under cooked. The prime rib was very good and tender. I ordered the Blue Cheese Filet Mignon with fries. The portion was pretty small for that cut. I had ordered medium rare and it came very rare. I sent it back and that pretty much ruined the meal. Everyone else is eating and you sit looking around. When it came back, I cut into it and it was the chewiest Filet I have ever eaten. It was like chewing rubber. For three people, the bill was $96, with tip. When we were leaving there was a line out the door waiting. I would never go there again. Don't see what the draw is for so many people willing to wait over a half hour. With the economy suppose to be so bad, where do so many people find the money to eat out at such an over priced place?

Delicious meal. Ordered medium prime rib with garlic potatoes and Firebird BLT salad (which was wonderful by the way). Prime rib was exactly as ordered and extremely tender/mouth watering. Others at the table had the Coconut Shrimp and an Aged Rib Eye. All dishes were excellently prepared. On top of all of this the staff was excellent, will be going back soon on my one week trip.

We came here on a whim with my aunt and uncle. Unfortunately it was the Saturday after Valentines so there was a two hour wait. We waited anyway since it's the reason we drove 40 minutes to Hoover. They will send you a text when your table is ready which is great for those who would like to walk across the lot to do some shopping during a long wait. The staff is attentive and very nice. Good menu selection. Beautiful and cozy atmosphere. My husband tried the chili made with New York strip steak but it was just ok. I think the strip probably too lean of a meat to be in a thick sauced dish like chili. I ordered the filet and shrimp with my filet cooked medium. The steak had an excellent flavor, the bacon was a surprisingly nice touch. The filet had just a little pink left in it so I felt like it was more medium well than medium. I actually prefer my steaks medium well and they're overcooked no matter where we go which is why I purposely ordered it under so I wouldn't be disappointed. Shrimp had a great wood fired flavor. My husband ordered the New York strip medium well. He was quite happy with his meal and said his tasted better than mine. He especially liked that the baked potato had a salted skin. The wait was worth it for a nice dinner. They even gave us a $10 gift card for visiting on Valentine's weekend. Prices are a bit high and the portions are moderate. You could probably get more food at other steak houses but you won't get that great wood fired taste.

Excellent food and great service! Went here for lunch with a coworker. We were in a bit of a rush but it was no problem! The service was efficient without sacrificing flavor! I ordered the steak salad. It was probably one of the best salads I've had! The steak was a little more rare than I normally get, but decided to give it a try since I didn't really have time to send it back. It was delicious as it was. The steak was flavorful and super tender! The dressing was sweet yet not overwhelming. The veggies were super fresh and my favorite thing was that the salad plate and fork was CHILLED!! Talk about attention to detail! They also served this delicious warm bread. I loved it! My coworker had the tortilla soup, a Cesar salad, and a loaded potato. She ate her soup and salad and decided to take the potato for later. The portions are generous and they certainly do not skimp on flavor. I will definitely be back!!!

There are better steaks in town, but they have a meatloaf (or a meatloaf concoction) that is out of this world! Also, I could go there and eat nothing but the seared ahi tuna...one of my favorite dishes in Birmingham!

Friendly atmosphere and easy place to fit in. I ordered a NY strip steak - cooked perfectly at Medium to medium well with a loaded baked potato. I also had a Caesar salad. Everything was perfect except the potato. It wasn't real hot. I'll still come back. The steak taste was great!

Very nice meal! My first visit to this establishment. Our waitress was great and efficient. I ordered the sangria (white), which is something I'm always hesitant to order because I find the taste of sangria varies so from place to place. It was good! I ordered the filet and shrimp entree and specified that my steak be cooked "medium well," further stating that I didn't mind some pink, but just didn't want to see blood. My steak arrived cooked perfectly. I wish we had one of these in my area, because I would love to be able to go on a regular basis.

Always delicious-- no matter what you order. The pretzel appetizer with the beer cheese dipping sauce is exceptional and their big daddy cake is to die for. I have to get it every time. Warning: it is very rich and filling! Amazing food, atmosphere, and service!

Great time here! I loved the atmosphere of this place - great energy, good layout, loud, but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. The menu has tons of options so it should appeal to even the most picky eater and of course a full bar, plus offering their own house wine (Firebirds label). A variety of diners from families, to couples, to large groups, etc...this place can really appeal to everyone. I would suggest a reservation as it tends to get crowded. Lots of dining tables, some in the bar area and a nice looking patio. We did make a reservation, but when we arrived we saw two open seats at the bar. Naturally we opted to sit there instead. I find it's such a better experience with two people if you sit at the bar. You can engage with the bartender and other diners. The bartender was great. In addition to the full dinner menu, the bar does also have a small bite menu. We didn't have anything from it, but it included staple bar apps. We started off with two martinis: dirty bird and their version of the Cap Grill Stoli Doli (pineapple infused vodka). Both were excellent, but that Dirty bird was prob one of the best dirty martini's I have had in a long while. I also inquired about their house Chard and mentioned I like Le Crema - he noted that I would not like their house. He gave me a sample, he was right... it was fine, but just not my taste. No apps this time, just straight to dinner. I ordered a Caesar Salad and added salmon & a naked baked potato. This is my go to meal when I am overwhelmed and super hungry - typically hits the spot. This place no different - everything was well prepared and good. Next time, I'll ask them to go light on the dressing. Husband ordered the Kobe Beef meatloaf (included side of parm mashed potatoes and green beans). He cleared his place... he really enjoyed it. I did sneak one bite, and I agree - solid choice. I noticed a flyer that stated HH Mon - Fri on the patio or the bar... I look forward to checking that out soon!

Firebirds is an above average chain but it is a chain, with all the normal problems that face high-turnover kitchens with less experienced staff. Their food has the potential to be so much better if they could nail the basics of their menu. We've gone probably a dozen times for Sunday lunch. The service is always prompt and courteous and the food always looks great. Where Firebirds simply misses the mark is consistency with meat. For a place that prides itself on steaks, it's a shame. Walk in and a video monitor on the wall shows a picture of a beautifully marbled slice of rare prime rib. I defy you to get one that looks like that at the restaurant. Their meat is always overcooked and often over seasoned with so much salt that it burns to eat it. We prefer steaks and prime rib rare and they simply can't do it. Today, my wife ordered a steak sandwich rare. The waiter's response? "Ooh, wow... Well okay" and then laughs nervously... How did it come out? Med well. My rare French dip? Med. So why do we go back? The fresh bread (which is shaped like a butt crack) is good, the service is good and it's convenient.

Stopped here for lunch one day for a business meeting. There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try! I decided on the BLT salad topped with salmon, as it was recommended by our host. It was fantastic and a perfect choice for lunch! Our waitress was great and very attentive to our large party. Prices were very reasonable. I would definitely like to try other dishes if I ever get the chance to go back!

Having never been to Birmingham before, I turned to Yelp to guide me to a good restaraunt and after seeing 4 stars came to Firebirds. Then I remembered that today was A Friday in Lent so no meat. Not to worry...Firebirds has a good variety of seafood and salads to help me out. The staff here is extremely attentive. My drink was never empty, they tried to bring me a loaf of bread on multiple occasions and they made some good recommendations regarding their food. I started with the lobster and spinach queso which was a little fishy at first but got better as I continued to eat away. Good chunks of lobster and lots of cheesy spinach with enough chips to serve 4. I moved on to the coconut shrimp for dinner. They were a little over breaded so not my favorite but the 2 sides I ordered that came with it were outstanding. The green chiles Mac and Cheese was very yummy. (Watch out Angeline's...these guys run a vey close second to yours). Also you must try the pecan green beans. Very crispy and very tasty. I'd definitely like to come back here for one of their steak entrees. I watched several come out and they looked mouthwatering good even after I ate dinner.

Best salad ever! I grabbed take out from this place, because it was packed at lunch. I love this type of restaurant, slightly upscale but you feel comfortable wearing jeans. I didn't realize it was a chain! First of all, the bread they give you is amazing! I ate a whole loaf. Make sure you ask for it if you take take out. I got the black bean soup and ate it with the bread. That was a meal in itself. I ended up saving the salad for the next day. However, even as leftovers, the salad was amazing! I got the grilled shrimp and strawberry salad. It was to die for. Seriously, do yourself a favor and try it. It is also huge! I will come back just for this salad (and if I'm not on a diet for the bread)!

My hubby and I have been here twice now. The first time was Amazing with a capitol A. Food was unbelievable (please try the asiago cream sauce!), service was top notch, atmosphere could not have been better. We went back based on that night and our second trip was quite different. Had a server who could not have cared less about us, the food was only okay, had that been our first trip we would not have returned. New addition: Went back a third time at the urging of Firebirds corporate team (they REALLY care about their customers and seem to know how to treat their employees too! Kudos to them!) and had the same Amazing time we had the first go round. Our server was Ariana and I am pretty sure she was our server the first visit as well. She really knows how to make a night special and give spectacular service. The cilantro grilled chicken is simply delicious and our server went into detail explaining how everything is made right there in the restaurant, right down to the raspberry sauce on the plate of the key lime pie! (Also delicious) Good for you Firebirds, we will definitely be back and ask for Ariana every time!

Best filet in town!! Yes, even better than Flemings and Ruth's Chris! Order the bacon wrapped filet "pepper crusted." It is heavenly! We love this place! They have a fabulous happy hour until 6:30 as well!

Amazing quality steaks without the big bill. Also great burgers and side items. Not a fan of anything else on the menu. The wait can be very long so be sure to make reservations. The staff and service are always great. They box your food for you. One time i only ate half of my sirloin and when the waitress went to box it for me, they accidentally dropped it. So they went and made me a fresh filet to take home instead. Definitely a great place to go eat.

Whoa - J Alexander - you have some competition. Spinach lobster queso is AWESOME. I could come here and eat this every day! Chicken tortilla soup - some of the best I've ever had. I could eat appetizers here all day long. Entree - Had the french dip. Lots of meat - packed so tight and kind of bunched together that I was able to ditch the bread and eat the meat with a fork. Definitely worth trying at lunch time when you are not looking for such a heavy meal. Family had the ribs which were also good. Service - waiter was attentive. Glass always filled with water. Brought extra ketchup and condiments upon request. Even joked around with us a bit. Cool, relaxing Saturday afternoon lunch.

Firebirds is the only chain restaurant where I'd choose to eat (outside of local faves like Zoe's or Jim 'n Nick's). It's also fantastic for people on low-carb or paleo diets. The ribeye steak is my favorite, and they have several nice veggie choices to go with it. A server even offered to swap out my green beans when I realized how sweet they were (delicious, but not allowed on my diet). I like it much better than Flemings: less money, less carbs, and less businessmen chatting up barflies.

We went for dinner last night to use a gift card we were given. Food was excellent and the ranch rings were perfectly cooked onion rings and plenty enough for 3 of us to share! I had the Colorado chicken salad and it was full of flavor with tons of chicken, blue cheese crumbles, dried cranberries and their house made raspberry chipotle dressing. My husband had the ribeye with loaded mashed potatoes and it was cooked exactly as ordered and seasoned well. Our daughter had the chicken tortilla soup and loved it. When it came time to pay the bill we gave the server the gift card and he came back to let us know he was having a bit of trouble but he gave it to his manager to take care of. She came by shortly after that to let us know she couldn't figure out why our card wasn't working but she wanted to take care of our meal tonight and she would figure out what was going on with the card and call us back once she got it resolved. We'll definitely be back!

I absolutely love this place. Every single experience has been great! The servers have always gone beyond to make the experience great. They also have a great happy hour special Monday-Friday between 4:30 and 6:30 -- Drinks & Appetizers 1/2 off. Love their Spicy Grouper Tacos! Super Delish! I also love their Wood Grilled Salmon! I am usually not a fan of chains, but this is place is absolutely fabulous!

It smells SOOOOOOO good when you walk in! The service is excellent & so is the food. I highly recommed the wings & the filet. Everything was wonderful & we eat there quite a bit because of it.

Excellent meal, don't be put off by the chain aspect. We went there with party of three on a Wed night and had to wait about 40 minutes for a table, so plan ahead. They will put you on the waiting list if you call ahead too. We started with good chicken quesadillas, and I continued with an excellent spinach salad, nice crunchy texture. The Aspen steak was SUPERB, a big think hunk of meat blissfully free of fat or bone and perfectly done (medium for me). The sweet potato waffle fries that came with were just so-so. My companions had some of the other specialties, don't recall which, but definitely enjoyed them. Our waiter was very attentive, constantly showing up with a fresh Diet Coke for me. We were stuffed, so didn't order dessert. Satisfying meal, just be prepared to wait.

I really enjoy this chain. This is the second location I've been to. The steaks are excellent, and one of the best I've had in the restaurant chain category. They really focus on the details which most of the time chains fail on. Try the Rib Eye steak, you won't be disappointed. I believe they age their steaks which give it more complex and 'gamey' flavor which is then further enhanced by the wood grill.

Firebirds! One of my favorite places to get a salad! I always get the Caesar salad with salmon. It always tastes fresh with the salad being a cooler temperature and the salmon being warm. Their bread is good as well. I recently tried their Ahi Tuna stack which was very good- had a smoky flavor and had cucumber and avocado mixed in and came with a couple of crackers (I read on the menu you can only order this dish if you sit at the bar or on the patio). The only reason I give Firebirds a 4 is because of the inconsistent service which is often slow.

As I'm waiting on my tab, I thought I'd review my above average meal. I didn't know this was a "chain" when I pulled in starving. The place is packed, dimly lit and my waiter was on point. I had the Aspen Sirloin, loaded baked potato and a couple Naked Pig Pale Ales. I recommend all 3. The free bread that is served left a little to be desired as it seemed a little undercooked and I think a salad should be included with a steak. Long story short, it's not revolutionary but I'm stuffed and feel like I got my money's worth.

Don't make a reservation at the Hoover, Alabama, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. We made a 7pm reservation for our son's birthday celebration and after waiting over 30 minutes we gave up and left. The hostess staff said our table was still occupied and the manager never even spoke to us. This place has terrible service and has no clue how to handle a dinner party that decides to stay the entire night! Unless you want to have your special occasion ruined stay away from this sad excuse for a restaurant. If I could give a negative star I would!

Another great meal, really like this place. The atmosphere is so relaxing and inviting. Nothing better than feeling good about what and where you're eating. Tomorrow is my birthday so this is my birthday lunch. Our waiter kept the drinks coming without having to ask. We were able to talk and not be disturbed but waited on perfectly.

The food was excellently prepared. The wait was a little long so they actually comped the entrees. The server Aris was very gracious. In addition they were not put out about accommodating my gluten free and dairy free needs. The decor was equally nice. I would definitely come back.
