When I think about Bonefish Grill, the word consistency always comes to mind. I've been to this chain in a few locations around the southeast, and I've always had a pleasant experience. The location in Hoover is no exception. You can't go wrong by starting with the bang bang shrimp, which are fried morsels of awesome covered in a sriracha based sauce (just my assumption). If that's not your thing, the coconut shrimp are good but basic and have six to an order. Pass on the beef and ginger dumplings - they were palatable, but kind of bland. Every time I go to a Bonefish Grill, I always get the same entree: grilled salmon with the pan Asian sauce. On a recent visit to the Hoover location, they were out of salmon for the night so I replaced my usual with scallops and shrimp. I also always get the house salad as my side, which says a lot because I am not a salad eater. These greens aren't your usual tasteless side salad! The service is always fantastic and you will leave stuffed to the gills (see what I did there?).

What a disappointing evening. We were invited by friends to meet them at Bonefish for a nice dinner. The evening started fine, we found a high top in the bar after just a few minutes and settled in. There was a bit of a wait, maybe 5 minutes, until a waitress came by and said she had to take care of a few more things then she'd get our drink order. In all, we were seated 10+ minutes before we had beverages, a bit more than I'd like. We ordered apps, which were fine. Then we ordered entrees. Now, I know this is suppose to be a fish place but I'd heard that the burger was outstanding so we thought we try that. In fact, we each ordered one. We were asked about toppings and if we wanted chips or salads. As the waitress left I realized she did not ask how we wanted them cooked so we started looking for her. We looked and waited, no waitress. After 15 minutes or so a different waitress delivered our burgers. These things were hockey pucks. Burned all the way through. Dry, tasteless. Nasty. Now, the simple answer is "just send them back." And I get that. However, at this point, we had been there an hour and a half and we had to pick up our daughter in 30 minutes across town so we really just had time to eat. When we did see the waitress again I asked for our check explaining that we needed to pick up our kid shortly. Our check was delivered a few minutes later and I put a card in it. The waitress had found a couple of friends sitting at the bar and was chatting with them, regulars I assume. After 5 minutes or so I began trying to get her attention, calling out to get with "excuse me, miss" etc. There is no doubt in my mind that she heard us. Her eyes cut our way a couple of times, but she never left the conversation. Finally, after 10 minutes, I carried my check to the bar and asked the bartender if she could close us out. She said she could not close out a servers ticket so I asked who could. She asked who our waitress was. I said "her" pointing to the waitress chatting away just a few feet from where we were talking. Again, I have a hard time believing the waitress could not hear our conversation. The bartender got a knowing look on her face and said "I'm so sorry" and walked off with our check. A few minutes later she delivered it to our table for me to sign and we were able to leave. Between the horrible burger and the equally disappointing service, our date night out was ruined. This being our first (and probably last) visit, I can only hope that our experience was isolated but if you choose to try it, good luck.

I always make it priority to have dinner here at least one night I am in town. The staff is professional and pleasant and the food is outstanding. Last night Randall was my server and he was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Had the bang bang shrimp followed by the grilled shrimp and scallops. Also had the scalloped potatoes and broccoli. Everything was excellent.

I have dinned at Bonefish many times before and the food is always good. We started with the bang bang shrimp and it was wonderful . We ordered a Filet and a Ribeye. This was a terrible experience. Both were served rare and but were ordered med/well. The Filet was reheated and was still rare. The Ribeye is not a true Ribeye and I was given another steak and it was rare. The manager was not trained to do anything but apologize and agree that Bonefish has a chef problem. Do not order steak at this restaurant .It is so uncomfortable to complain about bad food when you know that it's not going to be any better.Do we take a chance and go back,I will have to think about that a long time. This happened on my our Anniversary. I paid for my shrimp and was given a $ 25 gift card. Tip from a regular customer-change suppliers of your meat, order the real Filet and Ribeye. You can charge more for a better grade and get a trained chef to manage your kitchen, What would the owners do if this happened to them? So we headed to Jim n Nicks and ordered a couple of steaks to complete our evening. Everything was fantastic.

Went there Friday night. Haven't been there for a long time because the food just wasn't like it used to be. Order bang bang shrimp and it was OK. We ordered two special from the menu, swordfish with pumpkin ravioli and grouper. Few of the ravioli was still cold, seems like still haven't properly defrost yet. Both swordfish and grouper were dry and you can tell they are not fresh. $20 a main course for fish I would expect non frozen. Not the case in Bonefish. Will not go back again.

Service extremely slow took 50 minutes before we got our food. It was 20 minutes before we even got bread. The restraunt was not busy only 8 other tables occupied. We ordered pot stickers and oyster on the half shell for appetizers. The pot stickers tasted frozen, the were very small and not were not the best I have ever had. For the main course I had the seabass it was very salty. My husband ordered fish and chips and they were cold and grease soaked . Our daughter ordered the Fontana pork chop it was very dry. Not worth the $101.00 we spent for lunch. Don't believe we will be back.

Delicious food with new, seasonal menu items all the time. The seafood always tastes fresh. Their chocolate crème brûlée available in the late fall and winter months is absolutely amazing! I would put it in my top three desserts in the city. Go early to avoid the crowd.

This place needs more space for people to wait...keep in mind there is a porch patio....where there sitting to wait.. It's 40 degrees outside in January... Why are the overhead fans on....who's bright idea was that...

Nothing great about this place besides the bang bang shrimp. The service is blah! The food is so-so and super greasy. There was a time, I'd say I was a true fan, but now I feel the food and service are not consistent. Definitely have many better options available in B'ham.

Love this place! Went for a late dinner with the wife. Had to gather some energy to fuel our trek to Toys R Us after. I had the sirloin and crabcake. The steak was ok, the crabcake, omg, it was perfect! Definitely going on my must order list. Service was outstanding. If you're going, ask for Todd. Funny, courteous, took care of everything and made a good night a great one. Thanks Todd! Edit: Completely forgot my fave, the Bang Bang Shrimp. Order them. You'll thank me later.

I usually only eat here when my sister visits from out of town because I have had so many bad experiences. She loves the bang bang shrimp so I get dragged along. My last 3 experiences are: 1 ) Ordered grouper. It was raw and turned off my appetite so badly that I refused a replacement. Sushi was not what I expected. 2) Strange waiter. He only paid attention to one side of the table when we ordered entrees and drinks. Had to chase him down because he left the table so quickly. 3) Ordered the filet mignon and crab cake combination. My sister also ordered the crab cake appetizer as her entree. When my "filet mignon" arrived, it was thin and triangular. I've never seen a filet mignon that was not round and thick. Also, my crab cake was half as thick as my sister's and looked like a bite had been taken out. The kitchen manager argued that it was indeed a filet mignon (it was not) but provided a new crab cake. The food is good but it seems that there is some problem every time we go there m
