Some friends and I had a happy hour gathering here last Monday (about 25 people). We called and asked PT's about it at the last minute, around 2pm that day. Lauren the bar manager was extremely kind and accommodating. Lauren's bar service was excellent and fast. Afterward about 10 or so people stuck around for supper. Dylon (or Dyllion- not certain of spelling) was our server and he too was attentive and nice, doing a great job for us. The food was tasty (I had the burger and it was great) and everyone in our group was happy with the location, atmosphere, offerings, and certainly the service. Later in the week I received a follow up call from the manager Scott making sure everything went well and inviting us back. I've already been back once. Recommended.

Move along, folks. Nothing to see here. Mediocre food, indifferent service. Plain bar food. Nothing more. Third and last time here. Clearly no ownership or management present.

I went to PT's The other night with Limited expectations. When we arrived, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Unfortunately, just as our food was arriving so did storm clouds. The staff effortlessly transitioned us to table inside the restaurant. Although we were not there to watch a sporting event, the restaurant has huge televisions playing multiple games placed all around the restaurant. I found the food to be very good for bar fare, and the beer selection was outstanding. My only criticism, and this is reaching a little, is that they're mixed drinks are watered down. In the end, this is a place you go to grab a beer and a burger. I think it would be a perfect place to go watch a game, especially during football season.

My friends and I have waited for a much needed sports bar in Homewood. We have been several times and really want to like this place, but we have given up. We like the game room for the kids, but that really is the only redeeming quality. The service is always slow and the food is nothing special. There always seems to be something missing from our plates and it takes several trips by the waiter to get everything corrected. They have the most expensive beer prices in the city. Where else do you pay $8.50 for a 16oz beer? I will be surprised if it is still open for next football season.

Sat at the bar last night, ate some dinner and had a few beers. Good potential, however, according to staff, there is a mold issue in the cracked flooring behind the bar that the landlord has refused to address. The odor was horrible and everyone sitting around me was complaining. I will not be back until this is rectified. Shame because it could be a cool neighborhood hang out. Potential for four star once this issue is addressed.

Nice atmosphere. Burger was not flavorful. Asked server if there was fresh coffee and was assured there was The coffee I was served was burned and when I told her I didn't want it after all, she said she had given me the last in the pot (this was 2:30 p.m. so it probably was left over from lunch) and would make a fresh pot. I declined. The chef obviously had put no seasonings in the ground beef -- although I never add salt, I had to with the burger. With all the wonderful restaurants in the area, there won't be a return trip to PT's (what happened to the wonderful one on Hollywood??)

We ate here for a second time recently hoping it would be better than our first visit because everyone can have an off night. Unfortunately, nothing had really improved since the first visit. We had mediocre over cooked burgers and borderline cold wings. This is more disappointing because we had to send cold food back on our first visit. The best description of the waitstaff is "disinterested."

I was going to give PT's 3 stars, but the Yelp system said 3 was "A-OK." It was not. A 2-star rating of "Meh" sums it up. We had a large party with kids on a Sunday night and had called ahead to let them know. We had half of the patio. Originally we had 1 server, but somehow another server decided to help out (read: totally eff everything up). Server 1 pleaded w/ server 2 to leave, but they did not. I don't know how server assignments work, but this seems to be the root of most of the issues. The menu is pretty limited, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when they are out of one of the items at 6pm that's pretty bad. Most of our party ordered 1 of 3 items and the haphazard way everything was brought out was frustrating. The other big gripe was the time it took. I don't expect everything to come out at once for a large party, but it took an hour(!) from the first to last plate to arrive. Some people got their food to go as it arrived it took so long. One positive is that it's very kid friendly with a large courtyard and fountain across the way from the patio. That being said, I won't be returning. I can understand growing pains, but this was too much to overlook.

I really wanted this place to work, especially compared to the old PT's in the 90's. This place has none of the charm of the original. This new place has a lot of problems and zero atmosphere. I don't they understand what they want it to be, but it definitely isn't a sports bar. It's not a comfortable place and the food and service are nothing to make it a destination spot. Overall it's disappointing.

Welcome back PT's, where have you been? The original was on Hollywood Boulevard, and was one of the few sports bars in the city (20 years ago). This place is considerably more upscale than the original (from what I recall). I had the buffalo chicken sandwich for dinner. I thought this was a pretty good choice, and would recommend it. A fried chicken breast topped with provolone cheese and served on a Kaiser roll. It is dressed with lettuce and tomato. The buffalo sauce was to my liking. It was not too tangy or spicy, and our waiter said it could be ordered with a spicier buffalo sauce. A side comes with the sandwich, and there is a good variety to choose from. I ordered the half and half (fries and onion rings). The rings were good, and served with a dipping sauce that complemented them well. I recommend giving PT's a try. The SOHO area is unique and a cool area to walk around.

I have been before for happy hour, and the prices and service were good. So we decided to try and go for dinner. The whole experience this time was just OK. We decided to order some draft beer and they have a small and a large option. We both got the large. My wife's came before mine, and it was rather small. By the time mine came, I asked about the size. The waiter apologized and said it wasn't an option on the computer, so he just brought a small. But he wasn't going to say until I asked. And to be perfectly honest, mine wasn't much bigger than hers (regular pint size) and still cost twice as much! So the mistake ended up being better. Even though the small was overpriced itself. So if you go, stick with bottles. Which is disappointing, because we prefer draft beer. As for the food, it was OK. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was decent...but not great. I had half/half on onion rings and fries. The fries were pretty good. But the onion rings were cold. My wife's chicken wrap looked real good so I asked how it was. To my surprise she said, "it is OK". She compared it to a fast food wrap, but obviously more expensive. The prices weren't too bad on the food. But there was nothing fantastic about it. The restaurant ambiance was actually very nice and upscale. We hit it on trivia night (not their fault) so it was a little loud for us to converse consistently. But the game room looked nice along with everything in there. I think they could make a few small changes and make this place nice. But for now, it is just average. I may go back and try again. But I hope at least the bad beer menu will be changed.

My husband and I visited some friends in Homewood this past weekend, and we decided to stop in to PT's for a quick beer and maybe an appetizer to break up the shopping trip in downtown Homewood. Our friends (who live in the Homewood neighborhood) said that there are not many sports bars in that general area and would love for this place to work out, but after our visit they have some serious doubts about the longevity of PT's. Here are our thoughts: 1. The beer menu is a disaster. The small/large options are confusing, and the pricing is absolutely ridiculous. As someone who drinks craft beer frequently, the price for the small (i.e. 12 oz) was legitimate, but the price for a large (i.e. 16 oz) was absurd. In most cases, the restaurant was charging you 50% more for 33% more beer. This math is totally illogical, because typically a customer is rewarded with price savings when ordering something in larger quantities, not penalized. When we asked the manager he said that the large used to be 18 oz. but they reduced the size to 16 oz. because customers weren't finishing their beers. He also said that the small beer prices were actually lower than they should be charging. Um, what? Sounded like he was talking in circles trying to confuse us. Math doesn't lie. 2. The food menu was lackluster and only had a few options. At a sport's bar, people want a lot of appetizer options to munch on while enjoying a beer, but there were only about 6 on the menu. The food prices were also very low, which might explain why they are trying to price gauge the customer on drinks. Nothing on the menu looked appetizing, so we didn't order any food. 3. The decor was bizarre. They had a modern bar/arcade/pool hall/dive bar situation going on. We saw lots of families and kids, but there were also football fanatics screaming profanities at the bar (which you would expect at a sports bar). The restaurant seems to be sending mixed messages as to who its customer base is. Final thoughts: Look for PT's on a future episode of Restaurant Impossible. Major changes need to be made for any hope of this place sticking around.

I had the chili cheese fries and a bud light for $7... Really! And they were the BEST chili chz fries I have ever had! We had a large part of 20 people and one server who did a great job very nice young man! Very accommodating and patient. We were not a very demanding group :)

Came to watch march madness games and have a few drinks with friends. Sat at the bar. Had to ask several times to get the right channel put on but once that occurred service was better. It was busy so it was consistently hard to get the bartenders attention to order another drink but that's understandable. The well drinks were on special so that's what I ordered but my friend is a beer drinker and was not impressed with their prices. Both draft and bottle beers were very overpriced when considering the price of liquor drinks and food. Didn't eat any food but everything around me looked good. Food was well priced too.

I have made three recent trips to PTs in the past month. They did an awesome job on the build out and there is not a bad place to sit and see a TV. With that said, I'm not exactly sure they have an identity yet. I don't know if they know what they want to be as of yet but the idea I got was that they want to be a bar first, restaurant second, and all around service third. The food has been great each time and the Prime Rib Sandwich might be one of the best I've had. However, the service is purely unacceptable. The wait staff does not seem to care about your experience one bit. They have done some things well, such as starting the kitchen back up on a late visit(kitchen staff's call) but for me, service can make or break an experience. In my opinion, the back of house has it together but the front of house has a long way to go. I hope this place works out but if the service continues like this in an already competitive food market, then they won't be here long.

We just moved to the area and have been impressed by the service received in homework.... until PTs. I know I'm a nark but I am pretty sure we walked in on a little puff puff give in the back and our service reflected an entitled, aggravated, distant burnout..... And she reeked of the goods. Now the food, I can sum that up with some classic tmi. Diarrhea x2, throat swells x1 and the night is still young. Do not eat here, there are significantly better choices across the street no matter which direction you walk.

The best thing about PT's is the large outdoor seating area. Other than that, everything about this place is completely average. I would rather give it 2.5 stars--right in the middle. It is not horrible but it is not great. The service was just average. The food was just average. Thus, my review is just average length because there isn't much to say. This location has had a string of failed restaurants so I hope PT's can make it work but I think they will need to make some changes.

We returned during an Alabama football game and the place was packed. We opted for an outside table away from the televisions and the crowd. The first thing I noticed was they were allowing smokers to stand on the patio near diners. I would prefer that the smoking area not be by my table. Given the crowd, the service was still good and reasonably punctual. I went for the wings which come in mild, hot and memorable. The server assured me that memorable was very spicy so I got those. While the wings were good, the sauce was pretty mild. It's a thick, sweet sauce with flecks of pepper but no heat. While they looked promising, everyone at the table, including a non pepper-head agreed that they were far more kid friendly than we would expect. I got onion rings as the side and was pretty disappointed with those. They tasted like powdery flour - yeah that's an odd description but that's really what they tasted like, fried onion dusted with raw flour. The other diners ordered two different burgers -one medium well, the other, medium. The kitchen mixed up the temperatures so that each diner got the right condiments but the wrong piece of beef. Given the crowd, we all agreed to give PT's a pass on the slip-ups and all agreed that we would return.

Granted I am very nostalgic when it comes to PT's but I think what they are doing there is right on track. Having opened a few months ago there were bound to be some kinks to work out. It is industry standard to give a new restaurant 3 months before truly grading it. I have been there several times since the beginning and can already see the improvement. The service is leaps and bounds better than when I first went. Still some kitchen timing issues but this is getting better as well. The last few times I have been the server has been on top of explaining any kitchen hold ups which is all you can ask for...communication. The serving staff is always very friendly and on point. What has been a staple since the beginning is the quality of the food. The wings are excellent and I most recently had the Turkey Burger which was perfect while watching football and drinking a beer. PT's offers a great beer menu as well. PT's always has a great atmosphere. From the outside seating to the bar area the place is constantly packed and lively. If you had a rough experience the first month, I suggest you go back and give it a second chance. Just as it was 15 years ago, PT's is quickly becoming one of my favorite watering holes in Birmingham!

Went there for lunch with friends on Saturday. Service was slow to non-existent. Half of us were done eating before the other half got food. Waitress was nice. Just think they were terribly understaffed in front and back of the house. Gave it 2 stars bc the food was decent. Chili was super spicy which I like, but everyone may not. Kid-friendly. They have of pac man and other video games to entertain them.

I stopped in for lunch today. Was the only one sitting at the bar, but service was great as a result. Got the grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings. I thought both were fantastic. It was a little pricier than I typically prefer for lunch, but thought it was worth it and would definitely go back.

I want to like this place, really. However, their food and service leaves something to be desired. We chose mozzarella points as the starter. While they tasted ok, they were far to large. This was noticed primarily in the dark brown outside and a luke warm inside. So the first few bites were fine, then it was like biting into cheese the had been microwaved. I had the PT burger also. The burger was actually fine. Nothing note worthy about it, but the bun was stale. I asked or mustard that never came as well. The fries on both of our meals were terrible. They use these shoe string potato fries that tasted as if they had been left out of the freezer and defrosted. They were dense for whatever reason and chewy. Certainly not something you would expect out of a 12 dollar plate. The chicken fingers were decent however with a nice honey mustard. This brings up the whole menu, which is nothing more than bar food. Theres nothing wrong with it, but theres nothing that really stands out about it either. Overall, for the money a typical check would run, other places in town do this far better than PTs. The beer menu has some interesting selections, however they break these down into two different price tiers. I think the concept of offering half pints is fine, but to offer a regular pint for 8.50 or 9 bucks while the smaller volume is 7 bucks misses the mark totally. Reminds of those boobs at paramount to be honest. Finally, this brings me to the service. They need more servers. Our guy was probably doing his best with what he was given to work with, but he looked like he didnt know which way was up half the time. When my girlfriend asked for a box for the rest of her food he looked puzzled. After realizing what this box was for a light bulb went off in his head as well as ours. For him, he realized a box could be used to store take away food. For us, we realized we wouldnt be back. Plus their crowd reeked of frat boy with a smattering of annoying child.

The place could have a cool vibe but the service is Terrible! The wait for food is ridiculously long.
