Service was poor and slow. My chicken was fatty and had several bones in it. They got my order wrong and then tried to up charge me to fix it. My boyfriends meat was dry. If I hadn't had a gift card I would be extremely upset by the money I wasted on that meal.

I enjoy the BBQ at Jim N Nick's, but this location was a slight step down from the one in Montgomery I'd visited a few days prior. The service was great, however. And, as always their biscuits are like Pringles. Once you eat one, you can't stop! I was, on the other hand, disappointed with the Riblets, which were fatty and tough to eat. We also ordered the Southern Sampler, which my friends devoured. I ordered the beef brisket and smoked chicken with mashed potatoes and black eyed peas. The brisket wasn't as good as the same the I ordered a few weeks prior, but still good. And, by saying a step down, I'm referring to a notch down from near perfect. It's hard to be letdown with any visit to Jim N Nicks. Their sides, sauces, biscuits and everything else I've had has been very good. This location, meanwhile, fell a tad short than another.

I was not impressed at all:-( the brisket was okay. I love baked beans I ordered a side of those to enjoy them with my sandwich, that didn't happen. I was diss appointed in the watery ness of the beans. I hate to say it but that is why I typically steer clear of chain restaurants now, however the boss wanted to eat there. The brisket sandwhich was not terrible, but I think the meat could have been a bit leaner. However I ate it all, hunger had most to do with that. All in all not a bad place if you like average BBQ

It was only OK. I got the 2 meat combo, sliced beef and spicy link. The sliced beef was more like thick chopped bed and the links were greasy and did not have a good taste at all. They left a very bad after taste. The potato salad was great. I also had the banana pudding not good either. If I should ever go back I'll try something different.

Hot as hell in here... Asked manager to turn AC on, it was on for all of 5 minutes and back off again. Sweating while eating dinner is not pleasurable. You can put on more clothes than you can take off. Bad experience.

I had pulled pork sandwich with Mac N cheese and mashed potatoes. I couldn't stop eating. It was so good and tasty. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was there needed to be more sauce on the sandwich.

I love bring my Yankee friends here when they come to visit. You should see the face they make when tasting the sweet tea lol. We all agree, the cheese biscuits are orgasmic (can I say that, lol). Today I had the Pig-in-the-Garden (pulled pork on a salad), it's a great combination of tastes. They handle the big lunch crowd amazingly. I come here a lot and never get tired of it.

Delicious! Amazing corn muffins. They're so light and fluffy! Juicy, flavorful meats and tasty sides. Go for the Mac n Cheese. Do it.

Pulled pork sandwich was $7 Half a dozen biscuits was $2.50 The sandwich was okay at best. Not enough meat, sauce, and flavor really for the price. The biscuits however were to die for. Really sweet, buttery, a slight crunch on top and really moist throughout. Definitely a must get when you're going here. Went through the drive through so can't comment on the service but 3/5 because even though the biscuits were divine I came here for BBQ, not bread.

Took out a rack of pork ribs from Jim and Nicks and was not impressed at all. The meat was hard and not flavorful. And it also did not fall off the bone. I expected so much more from this place, for being so popular. I don't understand the hype.

This was a solid place to eat. The décor and cleanliness was good, the service was good, and the price was good. But overall I say meh. The ribs and pulled pork were good, the potato salad not so much. The deviled eggs were good, but they were only good. I expected more. The overall vibe was chain.

This was the one of the best BBQ restaurants I've ever been to! I had pulled pork, brisket, and hot links, with potato salad and baked beans. My wife got baby back ribs with coleslaw and mac and cheese. It was all really great, we shared bites of each. The cornbread muffins were really good too. Then there's the sauce.... The sauce was so good I bought a bottle to go... Service was good, kind of quiet, but the food was really, really good. I even told a server to thank the cooks.

Get the wings! Superb, smoked flavor with just the right amount of seasoning/sauce. Hot are excellent but Mild are just as good. The Mild still have a bit of a kick. My boys (4,6 and 8 year old) really love the wings too but they do panic a bit after eating a mild wing due to the bit of kick it has. All in all, these wings have shot to the top of my favorite wings in Birmingham. At the moment I rank them #2 overall. In fact, before tonight I found myself in the same Jim N' Nicks Bar-B-Q drive-thru three nights in a row. I ordered the wings three nights in a row and told my brother to call it a hat trick. If I MUST make one complaint it is that you can only order in a 5 piece quantity @ $6. I would like to see a price break for ordering in bulk, more than 5 wings at a time. Overall, some of the best wings in Birmingham.

In earlier days this place was "meh" at best. Then they made improvements: 1. Cheese biscuits - Good enough to justify the trip. 2. They learned to pull the pork. 3. They offer a variety of sauces including white, vinegar and mustard. Good to see a local eatery get better rather than fall into decline after the grand opening. All locations seem to have similar quality and service, as well.

I had the 2 meat plate. The portions were good on the meat. I got the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was meh ok but the pulled pork was on point and so juicy and delicious. The potatoe salad was amazing too. Mac n Cheese was very stringy and cheesy and delicious. The cheese biscuits good god those were amazing. Not to good when cooled down but when they are warm they are sweet and cheesy. I recommend this place but if you don't get the lunch special be prepared to drop 20$ a meal.

I like Jim 'N Nicks, but I hate their drive through experience!!! If you order a drink they will forget to give it to you and they have no sense of urgency. Thx to the window girl "Kamaria" for screwing my order up on today!!!

Resturant Rating What does each star represent? 0 * Unacceptable 1 * Poor 2 * Improvement Required 3 * Good 4 * Very Good 5 * Outstanding Cleanliness - 5 Food Quality - 4 Food Portion - 4.5 Food Taste - 5 Location - 4 Entertainment - 0 Ambiance - 3.5 Service - 5 Price - 3.5 Comments - Since being in the South for the last four years I have been from Huntsville to Orange Beach and tried all BBQ in between. This place makes top 10! Great staff! Great taste! With that being said though I would not be able to eat here every weekend due to price, so it can be only special occasions when I go.

I think it goes without saying, I can't get enough of those cheese biscuits. I want them everyday but then my pants wouldn't fit quite right anymore. I don't think that I have eaten as much BBQ in my entire life as I have in the 6 months I've lived in Alabama. I randomly crave it very often now, and Jim N Nicks always satisfies that craving. Everything from the pork to the sides to their sweet tea is so delicious, that even once I'm sickly full I want to keep on munching. Last time we went there I got the BBQ potato (I forget what they call it) but it was huge and SO tasty. It lasted me for 3 meals so it was plenty of bang for my buck. I'd recommend trying it. They also have a drive through, which is probably where I'm headed after this hair appointment, because my mouth is watering now.

We stopped in to Jim N Nicks Bar-B-Q on a Sunday night about 45 minutes before closing time. We were served quickly, but our server (manager?) acted slightly put out and was not very friendly. I ordered the Pig in the Garden Salad, which was really good! My friend ordered the Riblets and was very disappointed, as they were very fatty. The pork in my salad wasn't fatty at all. It was perfect. The portion size was just right as well. The cheesy biscuits were also delicious! We had barely finished out meal, when the server grabbed our plates and glasses quite abruptly, not even asking if we were finished or if he could get us anything else. While I did enjoy the food here, the service wasn't friendly at all. I'm hoping it was just an "off" night!

From BBQ Pork to Tacos to BBQ Potatoes to Salads and everything in between these guys have it all. You can of course get the standard BBQ Sauce but I say go with their Habanero BBQ Sauce. If have the perfect amount of spice and sweet. It is good on anything. Give it a try with their amazing corn bread muffins. So good!

My steak was perfectly medium rare. The meat was tender, moist & tasty. I was very happy they did not bustard-dize the steak with sauce allowing me to taste the meat. Yumz. I was allowed to switch my potato & salad with 2 sides, I chose fruits & slow-cooked collards. No additional charge.

Took my dad here on his visit. Always great service. Wish we would have got a few more biscuits but all in all a good place. I have been here many times, but when my dad visited we both had the bbq chicken sandwich and a side. I had the greens and he had the cole slaw. both were excellent. he really like the white sauce on the sandwich.

Solid all around. Good food, good service, and decent prices. Pork was a bit dry, but everything else was quite tasty. I especially love the complimentary cheese biscuits that they serve before the meal! I also like that you can drive through if you just want to grab something quick.

Yelp gives bad directions ! It's West of 65, behind the Hardees! Yes the biscuits are to die for, best pulled pork, so plump, they must use special pigs! Saved room for peanut butter pie, only in the south!

The food at the Homewood (Oxmoor Rd) was tasty. My son and I both thought the fries were outstanding and the slaw had just the right "tang". The Riblets were plentiful andq the burgers were cooked just right. The only downside was the service was somewhat slow, it wasn't busy, and the food was not served to the table at the same time but rather piecemeal. I'd go back again just to see if the service was just an off night.

OMG BBQ! Those cheese biscuits we're the stuff of happiness, too. The slaw is a good balance of creamy and tangy. Portions are huge. My son's loaded baked potato was as big as his size 8 shoe. The prices were good for all we had to enjoy. Above all else, we had the most gracious server. Highly recommend!

We ordered brisket and it came chopped. It looked like ground beef instead if bar b que... Request to have it sliced if you order it!!!! Prices were very hight for everything. Cheese biscuits were excellent and service was good. We don't plan on going back, barbecue just wasn't meeting expectations.

After a long 6 hour drive from Louisiana to Birmingham we stopped over at your Homewood location. We heard about your restaurant through Facebook and decided to go by. Our experience with Samantha went beyond our expectations. She is a wonderful server and has a great customer service 'manner'. We felt totally at ease with her and she made excellent suggestions for us first timers. Sam is a great asset to your team @ Homewood! We shared and enjoyed a 3 meat combo with two sides. We also tried the loaded queso! The baby back ribs were the best. I would suggest seeing if they can give you the ribs without the thicker bbq sauce that come on the ribs and just use the sauce on the table. It was a better sauce in my opinion. Keep up the good work!

Great food. They are really fast the food took about 10 minutes. I liked the barbecue nachos. The sweet tea is good. The sweet biscuits are amazing. Great place I'd love to go again soon.

I use to love Jim N Nicks when I live in Birmingham years ago. I was back in town and went by the Homewood location with some family. The place was not to busy but they seemed to pack all the customers into a small tight area. The server we had must have been new. The service was really lacking. I could hear the table next to us complaining as well about her. The food was pretty decent. My father had the baby back ribs and he loved them. I had the regular potato patch and it was more than I could eat. Other than the not so great service I was happy when I left.

We eat there 2-3 times per month and the food is always great! This is my favorite place to eat in Homewood. They have great cabbage and greens and the BBQ is always good. Great selection of items on the menu. Great place to eat and relax to a cold beer!

Just good at everything they do. Love the BBQ Chicken potato, salads, and cheese biscuits. Best drive-thru food in town!

Collards AND steamed cabbage! Being from the Midwest, the BBQ sauce was not what I'm used to. It was a bit tomatoey.

Let me start off by saying I knew it was a bad idea to go to any place when they are about to close. I got my meal in a timely manner but when I received it I could tell they do not take the time to clean their grill my chicken was dirty from the grill and very salty extremely my Mac n cheese was cold and my greens were bitter. When I brought it to the manager attention she explains to me it's a hickory smoked grilled and that's how it was to suppose to look. I had hickory smoked items and never have my food looked like that. It came from poor care of the grill.

Always get good bar b que from Jim n Nicks. A little pricy for what you get, but cheese bisquits make it worth your while.

Tried the "new" smoked pork chop and it was dry! I had to add BBQ sauce to eat then it wasn't too bad.

First of all let me just say that I love Jim n Nicks BBQ, and if you think you've had biscuits you should go there! I went to Jim n Nicks today in Homewood, AL. I was attending a baby shower with other church family, friends and others. We had a rather large party so they assigned us a waitress (Rebecca) and help (Gabrielle). No more than 15 minutes into our visit our main waitress (Rebecca) started getting an attitude and being really rude. The only time we got refills was when we asked Gabrielle. No one ever came to get plates off the table with it being an event. Likewise, there were people in our party that didn't get their orders until they were about to leave. When some of the people in our party talked to the manager, Jennifer about the poor service nothing was done. Then our tickets had Rebecca on their and she was very unhelpful. Who was left to check all of us out and hear all the gripes?... Gabrielle (God Bless her for being so kind) Anyway needless to say there is about 20 people that ate there for the first and last time.
