What a treat this place was! I got a lot of whispering stares when I walked in (alone), as I was probably the first Asian girl the patrons have seen in person. They must have thought I got lost and stumbled in, looking for a phone to use.......................... Anyway, I was not seated immediately. In fact, I stood around pacing back and forth for about 5 minutes before a lady said sit anywhere. I think maybe people just sit down on their own... I didn't want to be rude and yell across the restaurant to the people in the kitchen with everyone staring at me already. =] I normally dislike pulled pork and wanted some ribs. I ordered ribs but was told they don't have any. I didn't ask why not. It was raining outside, and I wondered if it was cooked outdoors or something. I was so disappointed that they didn't have any ribs and couldn't decide on anything else, but decided to just go for the pulled pork with the hot BBQ sauce. And OH MY GOSH was I glad that they didn't have ribs. This was quite possibly one of the best pork dishes I've had. I couldn't tell that the BBQ sauce was spicy (I'm Korean), but it was delicious. Even the garlic toast that came with the meal was delicious (although I don't recall it being very garlicky, but hey it was buttery delicious). I got the baked beans (on accident........) and the potato salad. The potato salad was pretty good, but I've had better. I would LOVE to go back here to try the ribs and even the pulled pork again. I found me some southern love.

Two Stars is being really generous. Bama Q is a place previously featured on Restaurant Impossible. Seems that they have turned aside from whatever they learned from Chef Irvine. Fellow Yelpers report that they have said that they are again using recipes from before RI came to help. Lunch yesterday featured a "hot food bar" presentation. When I looked over the buffet offerings I noticed what appeared to be only veggies. I asked about the absence of entree or meat offerings, What appeared at first glance to be bananna pudding was said to be Chicken Casserole...the pan was almost empty, then underneath what looked to be some baked apples was sliced ham. When I said that I would like to see a menu I was informed that the only options other than the buffet were hamburgers, cheeseburgers and french fries. Let's see here... a BBQ place that does NOT offer BBQ at lunch...what's wrong with this picture??? So, I ordered the burger and fries. I have absolutely had worse burgers than I received, but it was no where near stellar (not surprised)...bland under seasoned burger, bun falling apart... I am glad I stopped here to give them a try, but I would recommend finding other places to eat in the area. Especially at lunch.

This guy seems super awesome! I really liked how open he was to the changes needed to make his place successful! So proud that a good man like this got the chance for Robert Ervine to remodel and give his spot a beautiful makeover. Great highlights of a very humble man. Loved that he wasn't argumentative and fought Robert the whole time, he let him do his job!

Irvine fixed this place up nice new floor and paint the food is ok. They got more ribs than you can shake a stick at

Pulled pork had excellent, smoky flavor; some of their pre-sauced meat was not quite as good as the plain pulled pork, oh well. The plain, pulled pork without sauce was full of smoky umami. A delight! Ribs were good with clear nasal smoke aroma, though their rub was a bit tart for my preference. They had lots of flavorful meat, and the rib tips were good and chewy. I could hardly finish two, after all the pulled pork I ate -- should've left one for the longing. We had stopped by here, looking for a local spot, on a Sunday afternoon, on the way from Atlanta to Huntsville. As we stood inside the front door waiting to be seated, one of the locals said, "Y'all just sit anywhere," and as we did, the owner came by to get our drinks and tell us about the food options. They had an all-you-can-eat barbecue bar for Sunday Dinner (which is "Lunch" on Sunday, if you're from outside this area and need an explanation), for a decent fixed price. We had very fresh salad, excellent vegetables, as well. My wife complimented the baked beans, though I was too stuffed to try a bite. I ate my collard-cabbage slaw that was amazing to the point that I'm going to have to try to make it at home, and I liked their potato salad, ranking it only a notch below below Vortex in Atlanta for flavor. We will be back. See y'all!

Boyfriend and I wanted authentic Southern BBQ. We found it here. We're done. Satisfied. Where else are you going to actually see the smokehouse out back? Boyfriend could not pick up the ribs because the meat was sliding off the bone. The sauce was delicious. DELICIOUS. The sides are hit or miss--but you're not here for the sides. You're here for the meat. Don't kid yourself.

I am not a BBQ officionado, like many people who are indigenous to this area, but this is the best BBQ that I have had in this area. The menu is inclusive of the different BBQ proteins, the sides are very good, the service is attentive and friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and they are in a convenient location.

Really good barbecue! Sadly no Coca-Cola products, and they charge for ice water. Great desserts, to. If you like BBQ you need to try this place
