Rock House Eatery is my favorite place to eat in Guntersville. The place is beautiful, staff is amazing, the owner cares and enjoys hearing feedback from customers and everything on the menu is great! A lot of the lunch items and desserts are made fresh. Just the best place overall. Try the steak or rack of lamb, lakeside lemonade and bread pudding!!!

Came here after mentioned to friends we were passing through area. My car hobby allows me to travel all over the country seeking out small town places to eat. This was the most pleasant surprise I have ever had. Food was extremely good, service was great, and not expensive. There were six in our party each getting something different and everyone loved it. I'll be back to this one, even out of the way.

I gave it a "Fair" rating but that's being overly generous. We went today (Jan 31, 2015) for the first time ever with the family. We were shown our table, but as soon as we sat down, a lady rushed out and told us that that table was closed, so we moved. After we finally were seated, we ordered the sampler platter appetizer, and for meals, chicken salad, spicy salmon pasta, chicken bacon ranch sandwich, and veggie pizza. So the appetizer technically came out first, but only because the server couldn't carry the entrées at the same time. The first thing we noticed was the messy fingerprints on the black appetizer plates. Restaurant owners, I'd recommend having white plates, or lower ambient lighting, so that the place setting doesn't look like the FBI just dusted for prints at a crime scene. Better yet, try cleaning the plates. The Cuban style potato croquettes and fried green beans in the appetizer were pretty tasty, which barely nudged the rating up to a "fair". The only good thing I can say about the Julian's Spicy Salmon was that it must be very healthy, because it sure lacked taste. It was watery and disappointing. So it went mostly untouched. When refilling my iced tea, I asked for more ice than tea. I think our waitress heard was "bla bla bla", and my refill was warm tea. When we complained about the cold French fries, the waitress told us that she doesn't cook it... she just brings it out, but she'll tell the kitchen. When we left, we didn't see anyone talking to the kitchen. I left the waitress a generous tip anyway (~ 15%)... its not her fault... it's the owners. This place is definitely a "before" poster-child for the Restaurant Impossible show.

Not your ordinary restaurant in this part of Alabama. Awesome menu full of many not so southern flare.

Went to this nice quaint restaurant with no expectations.. Found a nice restaurant with outdoor dining very good food and good service.... We had an appetizer of tuna tataki... Tuna was seared perfect and arrived in a bed of greens with some of the best ginger dressing I've had... Second course we had a garden salad with blue cheese salad was good fresh vegetables... For our main course we had a 9oz filet cooked med rare and smashed garlic potatoes and green beans.... The steak was one of the best I've had cook to perfection.... Potatoes were excellent and the green beans were grilled perfect also... Great food and nice atmosphere... I will return again

Our appetizer was small and cold..It was the sampler.. there were 3 of us and was not enough for 3. The host was not polite except to the people he knew. He could care less.. The hamburger was charred hard and really not fit to eat. The fish tacos were okay but one had nothing in it but a crumb of fish. fries were limp. the place is okay but too high for what we got. This was my 5th time to go here.. never consistent.

My husband and I visited Rock House Eatery for a date night on 28 Feb. We had a 5:30 reservation, but arrived about 20 minutes early. Our table by the cozy fireplace was ready and waiting for us. Our server arrived immediately after seating and we ordered a beer, a glass of wine, and a couple of waters which were brought to us soon after we placed our order. Our waitress was even kind enough to take a picture of us. =) We picked out the fried green tomatoes for our appetizer. The sauce was different and amazing. I ordered the 6 oz filet mignon with sweet potato slices and stir fried veggies. My husband ordered 6 oz filet mignon with baked potato and green beans. He also had a house salad which was large enough for us to split. The filets were easily the best we've had! They were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The sides were the perfect accompaniment and delicious! The selection of sides was wonderful which made it difficult to choose. The prices were very reasonable and the service was superb. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and not at all stuffy. It was a perfect place for date night, but could easily be a great place for a family dinner or girls' night. We highly recommend it and will definitely visit again very soon!

OMG delicious!! In Alabama visiting my boyfriend's family and we drove out to Guntersville for the day to see the dam and decided to grab some lunch before heading back to Huntsville. This was the best food I've had in Alabama all week!!! The service was wonderful and extremely friendly! We got the crispy green beans to start... the thai sauce they came with was so creamy and delicious. My boyfriend got the cowboy burger with with fries and loved it... I kept stealing his fries they were super good! I got the fish tacos with a side house salad with vinaigrette dressing. The tacos were absolutely amazing...the slaw on top was the perfect combination of spicy and cool... the flavors combined so well! I even called the owner over at one point to tell him how happy we were with our experience!! If you're in the area I most definitely recommend you try this place!! Next time we're in town we will definitely come back!

Love this place. All of the food is fabulous. Steaks are amazing and you must try the piña colada cake. You also must have the fried green beans.

My hubby and I love this place. It's about an hour's drive from our home in Madison, AL, but worth the trip. Meals are tasty, service is great, and desserts are made from scratch. I am vegetarian and they have a number of options for me to eat. Hubby is a carnivore and they have some good steak dishes for him. I had the pasta (mushroom/basil/chicken MINUS the chicken), hubby had steak. With dessert, a glass of wine, and their special tea (orange juice, limeade, mint??), we were out under $60 including tip. Periodically they have music here too.

Cutest little place to eat near one of the prettiest areas in Alabama. The food was delicious! We really splurged and ordered an entree each plus a pizza. We decided to go ahead and try what we wanted to just in case we never came back. I got the Shrimp Po Boy which was a special that day (not on the regular menu). I love that it was grilled shrimp and not fried. It had the perfect balance of flavor on the shrimp and in the sauce to counteract the basic flavors of the typical french bread, lettuce, and tomato. They serve kettle cooked chips which is much better than plain ol' chips. My husband's burger was great, the Cowboy burger. It had a good grilled flavor, crisp bacon, yummy chipotle mayo, and a soft bun. It's hard to find a good burger and this is definitely one worth trying again. We got a pizza and took most of it home. It was ok. Not bad...not overwhelmingly great. I did think it tasted better leftover like most pizza does. Our waiter was serving a lot of people but was still attentive and friendly. Do pay attention that they have a different lunch and dinner menu. The reason it's on my Top 100 Dishes to Try: Shrimp Po'Boy (not offered every day)

The Rock House Eatery is a cute, quaint restaurant. We were seated in the back room which looked like an addition to the back of the house. Our server was great, the salad I got was great, as was the wine I got during happy hour. Definitely a must while in Guntersville.

Excellent food. We had the special. Pork loin with mango salsa with roasted potatoes and green beens. To say it was good it is an understatement. Excellent food and service.

Great place! Our large family was in town for a wedding. We saw the reviews on this place on Yelp. I called on short notice for a reservation for 14. They initially informed us that they were booked solid. We indicated we could be at the door when they opened if they could work us in. They agreed. Good news for us. The service was exceptional and the food even better. I had the bone in ribeye, while my wife had the rack of lamb. Both were fantastic. We are empty nester's and regularly eat at fine dining establishments in The Atlanta and Jacksonville FL area. This place would be comparable to any we frequent. We weren't expecting to find this jewel in Guntersville.

This area of Alabama is a dry spot for good food so I love the idea of the Rock House Eatery. I have had some above average food here on several occasions. However, I have seen some inconsistencies in both food quality and service. The wait staff as proven unprepared to answer menu questions. Also, I have been decidedly underwhelmed by several signature dishes. Soups, salads, and sandwiches prove to be a safe bet. On the positive, it is worlds better than other restaurants in the area and I would recommend it to others.

Went to the Rock back in May with golf trip. Great place, the food was good and very affordable. Was there with a group of eight guys who were by all accounts feeling pretty good. We had a little confusion on whether we had reservations or not. One of our group insisted that he had gotten reservations earlier in the day but some of us were calling a foul on that one. The owner was a very good sport by playing along with our reserved friend even though he didn't have us written down and it took 30 minutes or so to get the table. The wait staff was really good sports by putting up with our obnoxiousness. They were fun(totally opposite of the group at another establishment on our trip which I have already written about), knowledgeable and quite courteous. The Rock was a very nice setting, the seafood was excellent and surprisingly the wine list was good yet not pretentious.

We were looking for a place to eat as we left the state park. Since this place received such good reviews, we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. The food was quite tasty. We both had the filet mignon vegetable soup for our side dish. It was a good hardy soup. I had the fried green tomato sandwich with cherry chutney and Granny Smith apple slices and my husband had the grouper po'boy. We were both pleased with our selections. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Love this place; service and food are good and the price reasonable - especially their coffee rubbed filet mignon. Their lunch selection is also pretty good. Nice ambience. Maybe the best restaurant in Guntersville and Scottsboro. We also don't mind driving 45 min from Huntsville to get their food when we tire of the restaurants here.

I've been to the Rock House several times since moving to Marshall County. I was skeptical at first, but I found out that it serves craft beer, so I decided to give it a try. I wound up drinking a Back Forty Naked Pig (I drink local whenever I can). Then a Truck Stop Honey Brown (also from Back Forty). Had a burger and hand-cut fries for lunch, and it was amazing! We were sitting on the patio and had no issues with the service. In fact, they closed the restaurant at 2 to prepare for the dinner shift and our waiter came out and joined us for a beer. They kept our tab open until we were ready to go, which was really cool considering they were closed. A lot of places wouldn't do that. I was also pleasantly surprised that the waiter knew as much about craft beer as he did, considering Marshall County is mostly dry (Guntersville, Albertville, and Arab city are wet). All in all, definitely coming back to the Rock House. Just call ahead and check their hours, because they aren't open seven days a week.

I would say with out a doubt a hidden gem in guntersville Alabama. Had lunch here and best damn Reuben sandwich I've had since I left Chicago in 2008. Had some corn and ham soup that was great also.

I read reviews online and wanted to eat at The Rock House Eatery. The place was quaint and the staff very nice. We ate outside under the trees and it was cool and like sitting in a garden from years gone by even though you're close to a busy street. The appetizers were delicious. I loved the tempura green beans and cuban style potato croquettes, the bruschetta was Ok. My husband had a Pimento Cheese BLT, the pimento overwhelmed the sandwich. He only ate half the sandwich. I had the fish tacos and they were fishy tasting, very disappointed. The fries were delicious, they taste as if they had some breading and there was no greasy taste. I had mentioned it was my Birthday and the waitress brought us a large piece of chocolate cake that was wonderful. Overall it was a good experience, I will go back, just choose something different. Reasonable priced.

The salmon was wonderful and I had the BEST Pina colada that I ever had the last visit. I would highly recommend eating there.

I went here with my daughter for lunch (currently they are opened for dinner Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays). We ordered 2 small salads and a pizza, it costs us a mere $22! The food was excellent and everything else on the menu looked just as delicious! The restaurant is in a small house that has been renovated for a restaurant. There was seating inside and outside, we sat inside. The service was great and we look forward to going back!

Excellent food and friendly staff. Tonight we had the bone in ribeye and the pecan crusted chicken. Pecan chicken was juicy and very flavorful. My husband's ribeye was ordered medium rare but was served closer to medium well. He said it was still tender and tasted great even though a bit overcooked for him. We have had the pizzas in the past and you can never go wrong with those!!

Outstanding meal and service. Grouper was the best I have ever had. My wife loved the pork chops. I am from out of town, but I definitely will return.

Very good food, super friendly staff. The fried green tomatoes (an Alabama specialty) were nothing to shout about, but the steak and shrimp were as good as I've ever had. Even the "simple" house salads were just top-notch. The home made dressing was delicious, as was the home made bread. It was a little cold inside the night we were there. We were sitting in the first room right near the entrance. They had a curtain over the door to keep cold air from coming in while the door was opened, but it wasn't 100% effective. The little heater on the floor was struggling at times. If you can, ask for a seat away from that door during extreme weather. But that's a quibble. I was so happy digging into that food, I was willing to put up with cold feet. Yes, it was that good. Bottom line: my wife and I will definitely eat here again. Well worth our drive. :)

I am a local and it is my favorite place to eat in the area! You can get food that you won't find anywhere else in town. I am a vegetarian who is addicted to their Portabella Mushroom sandwich. The Portabella mushrooms on tiny pieces of bread as an appetizer are divine too. The waiters are the type you find in nice restaurants. They have plenty of food for carnivores as well. I am in no way affiliated with this establishment. I just think it is important for folks to write positive reviews of good places. Check out their facebook page to find out about the music outside.

The atmosphere is wonderful! The food, delish! My favorite- the Greek flatbread sandwich and the tempura green beans to start! The outdoor seating is a plus as well. They also have the best steak in town!

New experience! Always willing to try "the new one." This little restaurant is located in an old home transformed to a nice little restaurant. They have everything from culinary style dishes to pizza cooked in a rock oven. Desert was very good as well. I tried the Pina Colada Coconut Cake and it was great. My wife got the White Chocolate-Cranberry Bread pudding with vanilla cream sauce. We also had the Rock House Roast Beef Sandwich with jalapeno slaw on home made bread and Au jus, was very good and did not need any additional condiments. The salad was awesome with fresh greens, pecans, and citrus. The pizza was also good with their own twist on making the crust, and pizza sauce then cooked on the rock oven. After trying the lunch menu, we will be back to try the fresh cut steaks for dinner. Till next time...

Best Resturant in Guntersville, AL. Our family came in for a late dinner. The server was so friendly we almost invited her to join our family. Appitizers were fantastic Tempura Green Beans, fried green tomatoes and a salsa dip. Presentation on all plates was top notch and the food was fresh. There are tons of choices for main dishes including Brick Oven pizzas, shrimp, pasta, steaks, salads, soups, I got the panko breaded chicken with walnuts (i think) and it was fantastic. The spicy shrimp was hot hot hot! There are only a few tables outdoors so get their early if you want a prime seat. Also, there is maybe only seating for 30 people so big parties should call ahead. This is all in a very cool vibe house. I look forward to going back to this fantastic restaurant!

Rockhouse, is just that - it is in a house made of rock. A very unpretentious restaurant, went for a private dining dinner. Food was good, portions appropriate for a multicourse meal and service understated and appropriate.

We came here on a recommendation from the locals while staying at Lake Guntersville Lodge up the road. We just wanted a nice meal where we could sit down, relax and be served while on our mini vacation in the mountains. Right when you drive up to this place, you know you've found a little gem in the middle of a beautiful landscape. They have an extensive menu with specials plus excellent service. Immediately, we were given warm bread rolls after being seated. And we started with the appetizer of Tempura Green Beans served with their homemade chipotle sauce ($6). I opted for a small Strawberry and Avocado Spinach Salad ($4.95) and their Double Cut Pork Chop grilled to perfection ($18.50). Everything was seasoned well and so delicious. Overall, the service was perfect, the food was exactly what we wanted and the atmosphere was cozy & inviting. And although I went with my nephew and sister, this could be a great date place with your honey if you're ever in the area. Great recommendation, locals! 5-Stars

This is a good casual dinner spot. It has a relaxed feel and good food. I stopped in for lunch. The server was genuinely friendly and helpful through out the meal. I ordered the Pimento Cheese BLT. It comes on grilled wheat bread. Inside is apple wood smoked bacon, lettuce and their home made pimento cheese. Obviously it normally comes with tomato as well, but I chose to go without those as I am not a fan of tomatoes. The sandwich was tasty and light. The cheese gave it good flavor depth. The bacon gave it added flavor and texture. This is a good lunch spot and likely a good dinner spot too. If I am ever in the area again I would certainly stop in to try some of there other options. The menu had several great sounding meals.
