How sad it is to go Eat at a Place called the "Fish Market in Gasden, Alabama " order an appetizer Ban Ban Shrimp it was the worst thing we have ever eaten. The shrimps were Frie on an old Grease that you could vomit! How can they serve something so"Horrible " we had to send it back. Then we order the Salmon Dip then second mistake Horrible Horrible we also order a Greek Salad first let me tell you what was served Lettuce one Olive two Tomatoes and Lots lots of Fetta Cheese it was the worst salad I have ever eaten... Then order the entrée the Six Shrimp Grilled Blackened /vegetable I order was Steam Broccoli no salt , Big mistake to have order Blackened it was covered with an old Grease you couldn't eat that. My husband order a Cheeseburger Burger, was so over cooked you couldn't bite into it. We didn't say anything because it was not the waitress fault!!! THIS RESTAURANT IS TERRIBLE...People Please don't waste your money and time. OD and Family August 22, 2015

Sadly not impressed. Visited this place on a recommendation from a co-worker. Hit the bar but it was to small for the crowd and extremely loud. Moved to the outside deck. Weather was great but the food was not. Ordered the bam bam shrimp appetizer and the shrimp were just ok. Almost over cooked. Then moved on to the combo meal of grilled salmon, sea scallops, green beans, Greek potatoes, and hush puppies....so disappointing especially for 14.99+2.99 to upgrade to scallops+4.99 for the salmon. Sheesh. The salmon was greasy. Pretty sure it was "sautéed" in way to much oil and the seasoning was just off. The scallops had no flavor. My potatoes were a Lil burnt and the green beans tasted straight out of can. Customer service was prompt and friendly. But the food won't bring me back.

Very nice location on the river. Food was good, plentiful and priced right. I had the flounder, 2 sides and a glass of wine for less than $20! Guy and guitar playing on the patio was an excellent accompaniment. Highly recommended. Only downsides: they allow smoking on the patio and the skeeters are bad at dusk. (it's on the river. skeeters live there. wear pants or use your DEET before you go.)

Not fresh, service was slow. The couple beside us could NOT eat their lunch. This was Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Their Plates were still full.. Mr. manager look at what people leave on their plates.. there is a reason.. My food was overcooked and from frozen NOTHING fresh,, The man next to us obviously had tilapia instead of the snapper he ordered.. do you think we do not know the difference?? You are going to go out of business doing this.. Do you slaw like the downtown B'ham Fish Market.. Your slaw is awful! So, are the rest of your sides. Are you hushpuppies from frozen? They taste like it. Not worth the money! Honestly, this was a little worse than Captain D's. and much, much higher!

Horrible place to go. The manager here is a complete idiot. An alcoholic idiot at that. Avoid this place at all costs. He sets the prime example dor all locations as they keep him around. Not at all a pleasant experience.

I'm surprised at the reviews of this place. I tried this with a couple co-workers and we all had good meals. We had shrimp, catfish and a steamed seafood bucket. The bucket was huge and we all ended up eating something out of it. All were flavored well and portioned generously. Our server was extremely nice. She took time to tell us about our selections and even tell us about the area a bit. I would definitely try this place again next time I'm in town.

This is the first time that I have taken the time to eat at the fish market since it moved to its "new" location. At the older location I ate there twice, but it was definitely not by my choice, especially after the first visit, I was always with a group of friends, etc. This was the first visit here by my own choice, and just like previous visits to the restaurant, I was left disappointed.. once again. In my three experiences at this restaurant something was always overcooked, and just like the previous visits, I ran into that same problem with this visit. I visited on May 11, 2013 because the restaurant was hosting an all day "crawfish boil" and I was craving some of those tasty little mudbugs. The crawfish were slightly overcooked and they weren't flavorful at all. The sausage was bland, but the peel and eat shrimp were slightly tasty (the best part of that whole meal). As for the vegetables cooked with the crawfish, the corn was so overcooked that it was impossible to eat and the potatoes were leaning towards being overcooked. The waitress that we had was decent; she came by quiet often and asked if we needed anything. She also leaned in between us to talk to my girlfriend and compliment her on her appearance. I won't be back to the restaurant, as I've had nothing but bland/overcooked experiences at this restaurant.

Ick! Ordered $6.99 lunch. Lots of food....now we understand why it was $6.99. Lunch special was Mahimahi...fried. Ummm....we'll, I never heard of fried Mahimahi and made the mistake of trying it. It was ridiculously dry and tasteless. The hush puppies are greased throughout and packed tight....so they were unappealing. Okra was frozen, but good. The Greek tomato salad was eeehh...okay...somewhat. Too much Olive oil. Grilled pork chop was also ridiculously dry and flavorless. Rosemary potatoes were swimming in Olive oil and had too much rosemary on them. They would've been great if they're oven toasted, lightly tossed in Olive oil, and fresh rosemary laid across the top. They used sprinkle rosemary and we spent half our meal time scraping off the rosemary pieces. Now our service was good. The waiter was fine until we began to notice that every time he walked away we had to look as his butt. Yes...a skinny white kid wearing pants with a belt except his belt went across the middle of his butt and you could tell with a black shirt on that he wore black boxers to hide the fact that he was slacking. But if you're gonna pull up your pants every 10 steps, why hide the fact that you're slacking? Anyhow....whoever is cooking here is obsessed with lots of Olive oil and management doesn't care to correct easily fixed wrongs. We feared going here since opening. I'd heard of food poisoning but the hubby hadn't. Well, he didn't get it,but was sick at his stomach the rest of the day and all night....and He didn't have the fish. I did send the fish back and got chicken fingers...those were good and moist. So, I guess If I'm forced to go back, I'll order the chicken fingers.

This is the closest place for me to get Snapper. The food is ok and the ambiance is nice. Live band on the deck is a nice touch as well. Unfortunately they tried to pass off a piece of grilled catfish as Snapper. Still beats Red Lobster though. The wait staff is very friendly and courteous.

We love The Fish Market in Gadsden the staff is wonderful and the food is very really good. I suggest the Amberjack grilled with their awesome mac and cheese with hush puppies. We had my wife's gender reveal party at The Fish Market Restaurant and could not be happier with how we were received. I usually do not right reviews but I have come on yelp to realize that the people that do write reviews are people who only complain or have negative things to say. I highly recommend The Fish Market!!

Friday night, fish is a requirement for FF, my better half, so, being in Alabama at son's on vacation, we went here for dinner. Fried green tomatoes, and fried pickles get you in the proper frame of mind for dinner. Since grouper was unavailable, we each tried the house platter. Generous portions of Prawns, scallops, snapper fillets and accompanied by 2 sides. I went with a baked potato, which was really nicely done, with trimmings and a heaping portion of a nice cole slaw. FF went with a dinner salad and fries. Also included were hush puppies. Had the server not tried to pass of a Colorado micro brew for local, I'd have given them 5, I think he may have mixed his beers up, and made a mistake. The place is really open and sits on the bank of the Coosa river, in Gadsden, nice view and very enjoyable

We're not from Alabama, but we love to try local restaurants whenever we travel. My sister is gluten-free and told the server this. We were both going to split the Fisherman's seafood plate. It came with breadcrumbs all over it so my sister couldn't eat it. When we told the server, she did apologize. My sister ordered the gumbo instead and the server brought it immediately. The fisherman's plate consisted of tiny chewy scallops, overcooked white fish, four shrimp, a side, hushpuppies, and slaw. I was quite unimpressed with it. The slaw and hushpuppies were good though. I ate about half of the plate and the server insulted my appetite by asking if I ate ALL of that by myself. Also, when the bill came, the server made us pay for the gumbo even though she messed up by serving my gluten-free sister breadcrumbs. We won't be back.

Food was 4 stars, service dragged this rating down. Apparently, there was a large party in their private dining section on the random Tues night that we ate there. We waited a long time for drinks and for our food. We sat on the patio, nice view of the river, but table next to us smoked like chimneys. Not being from AL, this was a surprise that you could smoke anywhere Best deal is to get the pick two sampler for dinner - very large portions for $13. Blackjack salmon and mahi were fresh and cooked well. Shrimp and grits had a little spice - parmesan tilapia a little disappointing. Stuffed shrimp (with crab meat) were over cooked and puny for the price ($16 for half doz) compared to rest of menu.

Excellent choice. Had a varied menu of fresh seafood. I had the gumbo which was full of shrimp , crab, mussels, and more., The grilled salmon and grilled skewered shrimp were delicious. The wait staff and manager were very helpful and courteous . There are Greek food items on the menu as well as steak and chicken. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant. I plan on returning to it when I return to Gadsden.

I travel through Gadsden five to eight times a year and this is the best place I have found. They introduced me to sushi grade grilled tuna. Now I am hooked! Tonight I had a bowl of their gumbo. It is very hearty with lots of crab, shrimp, and fish along with a dark roux. If you like fish/seafood, you can not beat this place. You can get closer to salt water, but you will not find beater seafood.

Location moved, but still great food. Service was extremely slow and you will pay a premium for the oysters. Overall, good visit.

Well, we hesitantly decided to try this place because we had read some really bad reviews. But, I love raw oysters, and they had them. So, my friends and I decided to give it a try, but expecting the worse, I guess! We sat at the bar, and the bartender was very nice although he was also tending to a class reunion in another room. The wine (sauvignon blanc) was good and affordable (~$6/glass), and he filled the glass to the top! The bartender was also the shucker, and he did a great job.! The oysters were big and fresh. He made sure they cut away from the shell cleanly, and there was no grit in any of them. The special spicy vinegar dipping sauce was also a treat! I've only seen that done at 1 other place down in South Miss. Then we all ordered from the lunch menu--we all picked 2seafood entrees and 2 sides, and these also came with hushpuppies. I had the grilled shrimp and grilled amberjack fillets. The shrimp was great--nice fresh gulf flavor, unlike the shrimp I had the night before at Top O the River. The amberjack was a little dry, however, but still ok. We all wanted alligator, but they were out of it. The sides were good. I had collard greens and fried okra--yum! Lunch was only about $10/each for all of that. I definitely plan on returning next time we are in Gadsden. It may be that the other bad reviews are simply because of what was ordered. I guess we got lucky and ordered items that were good! The view is great right on the Coosa River. I wish they would build a deck or patio with outside seating--that would be perfect! ; )
