We have dined at the Foley Vallarta's since it opened. Normally enjoying it's closer to West Coast Mexican Food. The Margaritas are okay when properly iced, ( if they skimp on ice they taste like mix and very run of the mill). Lately they have really begun missing a step. They have a small wait staff, if you are lucky enough to get one of the guys who have been there for some time your meal will go with out any hitches. We unfortuantely had a young woman who had next to zero skills as a server. Upon ordering a very standard meal we requested extra cheese. While waiting for it a bowl of cold chips and slsa were delivered, 15 minutes later we received our drinks. When our dinners finally arrived there was very little cheese at all. Once again we requested they provide extra and a different waiter brought it to us. Upon our server's return we mentioned this , her reply that she " didn't know what kind of cheese we wanted so decided to forget about it" went over like a lead balloon. When our burned chili rellanos were pointed out to her she looked at them , shrugged and told us " all of them look like that in the back"...... WTH? Upon requesting to speak with a manager we were told he wasn't in that evening and she then stood there string at us as if we were really inconviencing her. It is a reasonably priced restaurant with okay food normally. It's very doubtful we will return for some time. Having worked as a Waitress to put myself through college I really appreciate great Service and tip very well. I try to make allowances when things seem to be going wrong, but service this poor both on the floor and in the kitchen made for a very unpleasant meal.

5 years ago this place was top notch easily 4/5. NOT NOW. HORRIBLE service. The waitress would literally roll her eyes when we asked for refills. She would literally never come from the kitchen unless we asked the hostess to get her for us. The food was horrible. BLAND! Mexican food should never be bland, ever, especially the fajitas. The beans tasted like canned mush, the rice had to have been out of a precooked package or something, and the lettuce was near spoiled. Taco Bell has better quality food and service than this, and for a 1/3 the price. NEVER RETURNING.

Just ate here and let me tell you, the service was horrible. We couldn't ever get our waiter to refill our drinks or even come check on us. He was rude and acted like we were annoying him just bc we asked for a refill. The food didn't taste fresh like it had been cooked days before and the chips had that old oil taste and were cold..BAD CHOICE and we will never go back!!

USE to be my favorite Mexican restaurant...but the service has got slower & ruder every time...took my daughter in for her birthday told 2 different servers she chose here to celebrate..they only had 3 tables and never acknowledged her but then again we didn't get our table prebussed either..so after 15 mins of waiting we are leaving

The lack of service and poor quality of food puts this place on the bottom if the list. Because of the quality of the food I only order tacos when I am dragged in the door. The margaritas were so watered down that it was a complete frozen mess that couldn't be consumed. There are many other choices for authentic Mexican food in town, do yourself a favor and leave this one off the list.

I've eaten a lot of mexican food in a lot of places from coast to coast and this joint is seriously my favorite of them all . Friendly service , fair pricing and consistently great quality food . A win in any book !

This place is quickly spiraling out of control. I have watched the quality of food deteriorate, the margaritas are a neon mix that even at $2 are hit and miss. The biggest disappointment is the staff. Julie offers good service. The men walk around in a trance devoid of personality or a willingness to help. It isnt unusual to have to go in search of wait staff for a drink, your check or even to order. Maybe with Cactus Cantina in town they will step up their game but I doubt it. The place is packed with locals that wouldnt know authentic mexican food if it was put in front of them.

My family and I ate here yesterday for lunch after a recommendation by an outlet store clerk. It was a wonderful experience! The service was outstanding. The food was good. We ordered tacos, enchiladas, queso (very good queso!), and my husband ordered a specific concoction not on the menu and was not disappointed. This is certainly a restaurant to try if you're in the Foley, AL area. Highly recommend!!

Vallarta's is perfectly acceptable, but not exceptional in any way. They have great lunch prices. The portions are good. They bring the standard chips and salsa to the table, and the white queso is delicious. I have had enchiladas here and the chimichanga. They were both good, but I find the dishes to be under seasoned. The meat is good, but lacks the extra spices that you usually taste in Mexican food and the chili sauce is thin and could also use more flavor. This is a great place to run to for lunch or maybe have a drink and a quick dinner, but not a place I would recommend as something special.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
