Awesome country mom and pop stop with great home made biscuits. Stop here every Sunday

The last time I was here, I was appalled to see huge containers of Bisquick mix sitting out in the kitchen. It's obvious that little, if any, of their food is made totally in-house. If you're a southern restaurant that specializes in biscuits, you better make your own biscuits from scratch, without mix. Also, the food was EXTREMELY mediocre and the ambiance was atrocious. And plastic knives and forks and styrofoam plates isn't just tacky -- it's incredibly wasteful. I don't understand the appeal. I'd rather go to McDonalds (and I hate McDonalds).

Service was nice from the gals. Food was poorly prepared and non-seasoned. Not sure what the draw is. Biscuits are tough, bacon flabby.

I'm a big fan of the biscuits, especially after a late night. It's probably a good thing I'm not from the area because I'd eat there frequently, and then I'd have to buy bigger clothes! I've only eaten the biscuits, based on the recommendation from my fiance who is from Fairhope, and I've enjoyed every one of them. Last time, I got the Western with salsa inside and it was really good! I love that they use Conecuh sausage because I can't find it as easily in Atlanta. If you're in the area, it's worth stopping in and getting an ugly biscuit. The Ultimate is a solid winner because it has everything!

I'd give it 2.5 stars because, while the breakfast was AWESOME and the employees sweet as pie, the ambiance is pretty horrid. So 5 stars for food and friendly kids behind the order counter, but zero stars for the rest of the experience ...average 2.5. The place was cavernous, dusty, unpleasantly cluttered, eerily quiet, dark...truly AWFUL! The toys out for the kids (hence, "Fun Barn") were all broken and filthy; the play area outdoors was a weedy, hazardous mess. My advice would be to get the delicious breakfast food to go ... keeping your fingers crossed that the food prep area is cleaner than the rest of the place.

Best breakfast spot in the area, we go whenever we get the chance. I love the hot ultimate! Great atmosphere and friendly service too.

Great place to grab a hearty breakfast biscuit for a lil change and get to work. The western with peppers is a must try or the hot ultimate!

I can only comment on the biscuits and all I can say is "wow!" I am not a biscuit aficionado so you people that like the light and fluffy Hardees type or the greasy Bojangles biscuits, don't hold this review against me. But they are delicious and actually taste healthy. Don't go here to sit down and have a nice, scenic, country breakfast waited on by Pearl. This is truly a barn with very few windows. I went yesterday and ordered biscuits to go...."ultimate hot which is stuffed with sausage, eggs, cheese and jalapeños"....INCREDIBLE! I will be a regular from now on!!

Hole in the wall in a barn in a field :) we went during a downpour, so that made for interesting ambiance (rain on a tin roof). No frills southern breakfast. It is all made to order (biscuits are premade that morning-saw the owner making up more batches). My kids had waffles, my husband had biscuit and gravy and I had the ultimate ugly biscuit. The waffles are large, the ultimate biscuit was really good, two kinds of sausage, egg and cheese. I wish it had been a little hotter and I had butter (I love melted butter on any biscuit - even when it has meat - if I am going to indulge in a biscuit I am going all out!). My husband said his was good and the kids liked their waffles, but I personally would go with something more traditional southern, that is what they know how to cook! The place is family run and everyone is "honey" or "sweetie" or "sugar" it isn't a put on, but if you aren't from the south you might be slightly taken back. I spoke to the owner for a good 5 minutes and we actually spoke about yelp reviews lol (and how he really didn't know much about the internet reviews) he was very nice and total old southern man who makes good biscuits. I would go earlier in the morning than we did (9:30) because in my opinion these type of places are best first thing.

This place is a no frills country restaurant with some great biscuits. We will have to go back for lunch and again for breakfast. It's a great place and they have great food. The owners are super nice and seem to care a lot about their customers. Not too sure their employees care too much so I won't give them 5 stars. We waited at least 30 minutes for our food after most everyone else got served before us even though they came in later... The owner made it right by giving us free refills (except I think all refills should be free....) Anyway, I enjoyed my meal and I will be back!

The Ugly Biscuit is one of the best breakfasts you can have. I rate the Biscuit King 5 out of 5, but this is 100% because of the biscuits. Normally, I comment on decor, service, etc.... but the Ugly Biscuit is so phenomenally good, I don't really care what the restaurant looks like, or that its just good ole' down home folks that run the place. Some patrons remark concerning the ostentatious displays of ultra-conservative allegiances, but that doesn't change the fact that these biscuits are amazing. I always get the Ultimate, stuffed with bacon, sausage, peppers... God only knows what else. Even though I live 1400 miles away, I always get an Ugly Biscuit when I come home. I've never found a commercially sold stuffed biscuit, and my attempts to recreate this in my own kitchen have been met with utter failure. It's such a brilliant idea that is executed with such precision, I'm amazed a major chain hasn't picked up these biscuits yet. Go here. Absolutely go here for breakfast. You will not regret it! This really is a buttermilk biscuit breakfast calzone. 5 out of 5 just for having a unique and incredibly delicious idea.

One of the best biscuits you will ever eat! Good southern breakfast. My only complaint is the place is pretty dirty. I don't even want to think about what the kitchen looks like!

We went here for breakfast recently and were very disappointed. One of their specialties, the ultimate biscuit, had very little of the eggs, cheese and bacon it was supposedly stuffed with, and the biscuit was dry and hard. My husband's ultimate biscuit was a little better since he ordered his with sausage gravy over it--which gave it some much needed moisture. The service was fine, but food not good enough for a return visit.

This place has a very unique assortment of homemade biscuits that have breakfast type food baked into them. Eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, etc. They are amazing and very filling. I would highly recommend giving them a shot!

One of those places you just have to find. We enjoyed a great breakfast after a weekend get away to Point Clear. Stuffed biscuits were the bomb. Great cosy barn that serves lunch as well.

The biscuits are good, the decor horribly garish. Also there is a rather large sign in the parking lot proclaiming their love for Sarah Palin. That alone is almost enough to keep me from patronizing in the future.

This place takes "out in the middle of no where" and "hole in the wall" to a whole new level. I have only had lunch here but I hear breakfast is great too. Lunch is an $8 blue plate special, everyday something different. It is more food than you need and is amazingly good every time. Sweet tea is oh so good. I wish I could eat here more often but it really isn't close to anything. I highly recommend it if you are passing through and it is lunch time.

We had breakfast here on March 14. We were lured in by the sign on the side of the road. The biscuits was LARGE and the coffee good. The ultimate biscuit was stuffed with egg, meat and cheese and covered in cheddar cheese and cheese. The dinning room was large with lots of space to spread out and read the paper on a Sunday morning. Lots of local color.

Dirt parking lot, lots of right wing extremist signs in the front, dark barn of a place...Hearing from my cousin for months about how wonderful this place is, so we head out to have some lunch. My mistake. I forgot, Skittles are her favorite dinner vegetable. The Pulled pork sandwich was gross, greasy, mushy, yet oddly dry in places too. Like it was sitting uncovered for a couple of days.. Weird, sour BBQ sauce...it tasted like it had turned bad. The fries were blah, the burger was a frozen pre formed patty, dry and flavorless. The bun wasn't warmed...just BORING! The biscuits...this place is called the Biscuit King. They don't even earn the title Biscuit Joker. Terrible biscuits. You can bet better frozen biscuits from the grocery store. Oversteeped iced tea was bitter, dry and left a metallic tang in the mouth. The tables were sticky. I can't understand why people were raving about this place. I did not finish my food. Again, another overrated, greasy Southern place that has no business being in the business of food.

I heard about the Biscuit King on a local radio station a few years ago. I've been wanting to go since then because I was so intrigued by the ugly biscuits that are served there. We arrived for Sunday lunch, and I was very disappointed to find that there wasn't an ugly biscuit on the menu. Instead I had country fried steak, green beans, and mashed potatoes. When my wife mentioned that we had come there for an ugly biscuit, we got one as a sample. It was really good. I've got to go back for breakfast some time. The rest of the food was really good, but I highly recommend the ugly biscuit. It's out of the way, but it was well worth the drive. The food was very good, and the people were very nice.

What a unique biscuit. Worth the drive. It's like a southern calzone!

I had read a review of the Biscuit King on a blog and was intrigued. My husband and I made a special trip to Fairhope from Mobile just to try out this unique restaurant. Unfortunately, we missed breakfast and were told they don't serve their famous biscuits for lunch. The rest of the menu looked just as promising though so we decided to order anyway. The hubby got a rib plate with potato salad and grits for the side. I got a BBQ baked potato with a side of green salad. I believe it was about $8 each or so... very reasonable. The portions were HUGE. I could barely eat half of my potato and the salad was great. The hubby raved about the delicious ribs and sides. I tried some of his and agreed, the ribs were some of best we've tasted! The customer service was also great, everyone there was super friendly. We are already planning our next little "day trip" out to Fairhope to sample more.
