Oh man, you just need to go here. Mexican Asian fusion at a good price. The interior of this place is minimal with some really sweet local mixed-media art on the walls. For food, I got the firecracker shrimp taco and the Kung Pao chicken taco. The sauces of both of these items were impeccable and delicious. I was rendered speechless. My friend got the braised pork taco and the Kung Pao chicken bowl, extra spicy. They definitely deliver on the spice and flavor. We were both thoroughly impressed with everything we got. The beer is super cheap too. $2-3 domestic bottles. You really can't beat that. Cheaper than a soda! If you're in Fairhope pay this place a visit. You won't be disappointed. I certainly wasn't!

One of the best restaurants in the area. I love the taco specials they have weekly. The amazing staff and the super nice owners make this a place that is a must visit if you are in Fairhope. They have different specials each night. It used to be only one night a week but they have now made it three nights a week. Do not miss out.

So good! I tried this on a whim one Friday evening. I had the pulled pork taco, the ahi tuna taco and the firecracker shrimp taco. Delish and inexpensive! Love!

I didn't think this place could get any better but..... After moving to their new location you can finally stretch your legs and enjoy your meal (that you already knew would be delicious!) The only problem I have with this place is trying to decide what I want to eat......

Dragonfly foodbar is, and continues to be my go to place when I want a low-key night of dining in Fairhope. Their beer specials are great. Their cheesecakes are unsurpassed in deliciousness. The daily (tues, wed, thurs?) tacos and (monday) nachos are wonderful as well. For any people who haven't ever worked in the restaurant industry -- know that if you come between 7 and 8 on ANY day, service is not going to be as attentive as it would be if you were to come at an earlier or later time. Their food, in my experience, is wonderfully spicy. This is not a place for people who don't appreciate a good bit of heat in their cuisine. There are menu items that aren't as spicy, of course, but as a whole, I'd say Dragonfly more caters to the diners with a more adventurous palate, and that is awesome and refreshing to me. I have never had bad service here, I am always impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of their service staff, even when they are balls to the wall busy. I am a server myself, so I know how hard some customers can be to please, especially the ones that come at peak time and expect everything at their exact time they get there. Dragonfly is awesome, so the high maintenance people that have been giving crappy reviews need to get a grip. This isn't a 5 star restaurant where the servers have 2 back waiters and a busser. This is a FOOD BAR with heart and soul and GREAT food.

Wow! The food here is amazing! Had the Kung pow chicken taco and the pork/Apple taco. They were both amazing. I could be more pleased. I wish I had one where I lived. I would be here all the time.

Very very dissatisfied. We went there as a couples night out. The service wad horrible, our waitress very inattentive and unhelpful to the point that she almost caused me a trip to the ER. While the flavor and the presentation of the food was great, Everything in the menu had hot spicy ingredients, jalapenos, chili's, habeneros etc. I asked our waitress twice if it was hot or mild and she kept telling us it was not hot at all. She lied. If you have a delicate stomach our allergies to ingredients DON'T go here! We asked if the dish could be adjusted, She went to the kitchen and came back and said no. When our food arrived, late by the way (Several people who came after us were served before us) all the dishes had tons of jalapenos in them, We tried to pick them out but there was alot. Two bites in I accidentally got one and that was it for me. I have had gall bladder removed as well as two surgeries. By the time I reached the parking lot I was throwing up. My husband had to pull over several times on the 20 minute drive home and I was that sick all night, to the point I really did think I was going to have to be taken to the hospital. On top of that, like that wasn't enough, The food was expensive, $42 for a noodle bowl, rice bowl and two tacos. The waitress acted like she didn't want to serve us, We had to stop her and ask her for stuff instead of her checking on us, She could clearly see I was in distress and never asked what was wrong. I was going to talk to The manager but no one checked on us, and when she finally did to bring us our bill, I just wanted our of there to be sick in private. The table was dirty with leftover food from previous occupant. I would like to add, I had eaten at their foley location several times before it closed and they had always been very accommodating, the food was excellent and the service staff was very friendly, they always worked around my dietary needs, I hate that they closed that location, I wasn't going into the fairhope location uneducated on there food, but apparently the two locations have very different customer relations attitudes.

I very much enjoyed coming here. The Kerrs run a great little place in downtown Fairhope. Being from here but living in California, I had to try the tacos and they were delicious. The fried oyster and cabbage tacos i had were an interesting combination of Southern cooking and Cali style. The pork trio was also amazing, and generously portioned. Definitely worth coming here on my next trip home.

Super busy spot that the locals clearly love. They serve a variety of fusiony tacos a la carte. I had the special (really delicious spicy curry chicken), pork (satisfying, comfort food tasting any palate would enjoy) and tuna (not really good at all--quality/cook of the fish just wasn't there. Mr. B also enjoyed the special and shrimp, but didn't enjoy the oyster so much. (To be fair, best not to order oyster anything in the summer, then again, why have it on the menu in the summer?) Our margaritas were a little too weak/sweet, but hey, they did the trick! Cute spot worth trying, but check with your server on what the best thing to order is because the menu seems a little hit or miss.

Stay away from the pork nachos! There were a lot of chips but was very sparse when it actually came to toppings and the pork was really fatty. The tacos were amazing though. The service could have been better.

The place has great duck tacos. It is a little expensive for what you get, but the flavors are not consistent. The wait staff is very friendly. It is more of a wine bar. Entertainment was ok too

I have to give this place 5 stars. From the ambiance, to the food, to the decor, they are unbeatable. My sister and I were vacationing in Gulf Shores and wanted to get out of the area and my google search brought us to Dragonfly Food Bar. I see on Yelp that they have moved from 319 Fairhope Ave, but I have not verified the information. Needless to say, this location is quaint and the artwork is amazing. Hands down, these were the best tacos I have eaten in my life. We had the Pork Taco, Shrimp Taco and the NY Strip Taco. The NY Strip Taco was the best. My sister and I looked at each other and we knew there was going to be a round 2. We also ordered the Lobster Nachos and they were really good. My only suggestion is a little more sauce or less chips. Our waiter was not outgoing and friendly at all but he delivered everything we order in a serious manner. This did not deter our experience. I would drive back to Alabama just to eat here again.

Very solid food. Started with the baby greens salad with egg on it which was practically a meal in itself, then ventured onto the Kung Pao Chicken Bowl. It has a fun laid back environment. Given its popularity you may have what appears to be questionable service, but the staff tries hard and means well. Stay positive and try the Dragonfly sauce.

Another great place on the Eastern Shore. Thank God for these little places that save me from going crazy with the lack of great food around here. This little gem serves up some great chef inspired creative tacos. I'm so into the fresh food this place serves up. Everything is good. Just get over there and try it all! You wont be disappointed. Not for the overly picky eater.

Very impressed. Went with my wife and kids. They handled special requests gracefully. Simple, unique and delicious. Nothing else like it. They've carved a giant niche and planted themselves firmly at the center. There are a few spots in fairhope that are on our regular list and this one is near the top. I actually look forward to going back. 4.5 stars

Awesome food. One of my favorite places to eat on the eastern shore. Service is ok and drink selection is somewhat limited but they have the basics covered. Great place to eat.

My favorite! Best food in Fairhope, for sure. This is the sort of place you miss when you move away! I crave the veggie bowl, red curry coconut chicken bowl and hot or cold edamame ALL THE TIME. You can never go wrong with the special, but I usually make sure I get a Tuna taco (my favorite on the list!) too, if I'm going that route! Editing to add: I'm so lucky this place exists and is a favorite, now that I've learned I have Celiac Disease ! Gluten free options and I trust the staff to take care of me and answer questions!

We loved this business when it was in Folly, Al. Now, I'm glad that we found its location in Fairhope. The food is amazing! I could eat here daily!

By far the best restaurant on the eastern shore. I live in Atlanta, and I still crave the blue crab corn fritters. They've moved to a much bigger location, so there are some growing pains, but that doesn't detract from the amazing food. Get any taco, they're all amazing. Get anything, it's all amazing.

We loved the food at the old location and were really excited to try the new one. This past Friday we finally got the opportunity. It was disappointing to say the least. Nothing terrible, but $13 for a forgettable bowl of rice, 6 fried shrimp and a lonely carrot is ridiculous. The $8 taco was also mediocre at best. Just plain blah. For that kind of money you'd expect the tortillas to be house made, not some frozen crap from Sysco. Man, SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

No need to envy those on The Food Network; Fairhope has its own cadre of top chefs and Doug Kerr is number one. Doug and Bri and their eclectic staff serve the perfect combination of latin/asian fused meals with a down home hipster flare. If you are a regular, then you get it. If you are a one-time visitor the unique dining experience calls you back to the eastern shore like the sun setting over the bay and the giant oaks of the Grand. For those who have had a not so perfect experience, keep in mind that it is not always about the food; not everyone loves Asian / Latin Fusion and I admit I have picked a few jalapeños out of my dish in surrender. But, the people, the atmosphere, and the energy of the place is unmatched. Doug's passion as a chef and his and Bri's love of food, family and what matters in life is what Dragonfly is all about. I get it and I will be back as long as the doors are open.

I give it 4 stars because of the atmosphere. The tacos were over priced and under delivered. Order the calamari appetizer about 5 minutes before our table is and got them 5 minutes after our tacos. Manager never came by to apologize and server showed little concern.

The absolute best tacos, miso coconut braised cabbage and bowls I have ever had. This is my go to place every time. I love bringing people new to town so experience it. The staff is always so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
