One of the best oyster bars in the South is located in Dothan, Alabama. The oysters are perfect, the long neck beer cold, and the staff is glad you are at Hunt's! Thanks for making my night a great one.

Great place to go for seafood in Dothan!! Can't beat ice cold beer, raw oysters and a friendly wait staff & bartenders!! HIGHLY Recommend the Baked Crab Claws...too many to count and ultra tastey!! i'll definitely be back! Atmosphere isn't anything fancy, but definitely has that old, very hometown-like, local feel to it. The bar is a great place to just chill or get-away from it all...

It's a bar. Don't go expecting ambience. But for Dothan, it's a good choice, going or coming from PCB. (Look to the side of Dobbs BBQ and across the street from the Flying J truck stop. It 's tucked away back there...we passed it for many years on the way to and from PCB before I got a smartphone and found another place to eat.) But the oysters ROCK. The service is pleasant and it's inexpensive. I'll eat there every time...

Great place!!! Had 2 dozen oysters and the blackened grouper. Washed down by 4 or 5 Bud Lights. The ladies in the backbar hooked it up.

Disappointed with the service tonight. Usually the service is excellent there but the staff was unusually inattentive tonight. Perhaps the B team works on Tuesday nights. Star rating is usually a 5.

The seafood and oysters are superb and the staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable and they also cook a "mean steak". I would recommend this as my favorite restaurant in Dothan, AL.

The oysters are a great, great bargain, but eat at your own risk as a few of us got food poisoning that night. The seafood and steak were of questionable quality. The bartenders were extremely stingy on the amount of alcohol in your cocktail, so stick with the beer. The dessert was free and unidentifiable, but you got what you paid for. The two stars are relative.

My star rating is generic; my good is 4-star (-1 for service), my bad is the reason I'll never go back. A coworker and I went to Hunt's, Dothan's oldest functioning restaurant. The dining room was closed for carpet replacement so we were seated in the bar. This place is what it is - a local staple - so there's nothing fancy about the atmosphere. We ordered the Seafood Platter, a non-menu offering suggested by our very indifferent server. The platter arrived and was a joy to behold - hot, fresh, and plentiful. Fresh shrimp, oysters, fish, and french fries. All were unexpectedly tasty and the huge slab of light, flaky fried fish was so good it drew my curiosity. I had to know what it was so that I could look to purchase some when I got back home. I asked Indifferent, our server, what kind of fish it was and she mumbled something I didn't understand. I figured not to bother her anymore. I asked another lady whose job it seemed to deliver the plates from the kitchen. She told us it was PANGASIUS. I inquired where it came from - was it and inland species, or from the Gulf, or Atlantic, where do they get it, etc. No one claimed knowledge of the source of this great-tasting fish! I finished off a platter that tasted far better than anything I had eaten in Dothan to this point. Note: The prices on the oysters are incomparable, but the oysters are very small. I like small oysters so the price is fitting - $6/dozen. So... if I can't get a straight answer from a person, I get what I can from Google. Doing so when I returned to my hotel room, the first listing was this: dietmindspirit.org/2008/… Further research revealed this: foodandwaterwatch.org/bl… Needless to say, after reading that, I was no longer interested in ANYTHING served at Hunt's Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar in Dothan, Alabama.

The reason I am giving this restaurant 1-star is simply because of terrible service. I went to use a gift card & it was not honored. The cashier was very rude & said it was showing up that it had already been used. I was so shocked but looked at the receipt that my relative had tucked in with the gift card & saw where the gift card number on the receipt and the one on the actual card I had did not match. I asked the cashier if she minded running the number on the receipt, which showed that the card had been paid for, and she said no. I know that my relative gives multiple gift cards & there was a mix up. So basically the $25.00 gift card was extra cash in their pocket that was not earned. Another visit, my husband and I received terrible service. After placing our drink order, we never received our drinks. The restaurant has a self-serve salad bar, so we made our salads and waited about 10 mins. for our drinks. Never saw our, or any other waitress. Finally my husband just went to the drink station and made our own drinks. Waitress brought our food. My fried shrimp was great but husband's steak was a terrible cut of meat and rubbery in texture. Another terrible experience. I love the fried shrimp at Hunt's, and their chopped sirloin is good too. I have had decent steaks there. But I will never be going back. It's not worth waiting in line, fighting to hear each other over the table, and bad service to have food that I can get at several other places in Dothan.

The Thursday special ($2.99 Dozen of raw oysters, $1.50 Bud, Bud light, & Mich Ultra and $1.50 Chili Dogs) made it actually a descent place to go. What I really enjoyed was that they didn't try to screw you out of a dozen of good size oysters. If you ended up with a small they usually gave you one or two more small oysters to make up for it. However, their other seafood was NOTHING anything special. I got the seafood sampler and it was your ordinary, everything fried, nothing standout seafood. At least the Thursday special made it worth while. I gave it 2 stars because it is only offered one day a week and we had about a 45 min wait for it's very small establishment.

Awesome fresh oysters and cheap beer. They have a lot of hot sauces and some homemade oyster topping sauces. The horseradish was fresh also. The only bad thing was indoor smoking.

Oysters and cold beer...can't get much better than that especially on Thurs nights. $2.95/dz oysters and $1.50 beers. Some oysters were small but some trays came with 13 and really fresh. Chili dogs also rocked. A bit of a wait but staff was super friendly . If you can get a table opposite from the oyster shuckin station; a bit fishy smellin. Will come back again soon!!!

Love Hunt's for the seafood. There are televisions for watching the game there. The salad bar could be improved, the hard boiled eggs were frozen every time I've been there and the lettuce is mostly iceberg.

This place just gets better with every visit. It's hard to believe that this little gem is able to hold the crowds. It's now wonder the crowds are there though. When you taste anything from their steaks to their chili dogs. There is a full bar, oysters and fantastic steaks and seafood. Everything is "top shelf". It just don't get any better than this!

A "supper club" in the south. very local. not high end but cheap. We heard good things from the locals and went there for dinner. We shared two appetizers: Baked oyster's supreme: garlic butter & Parmesan cheese, 13 - 14 since a couple were small and only $6. they had a special on 1 # steamed peel & eat shrimp for $3. took half for later. The salad bar was heavy on mayo salad items and iceberg lettuce but still OK. i had shrimp & fish, he had a steak and said it was very good. our drinks were just fine. $60 for 1 drink each, dinner & appz, mean hostesses and great waitress.

Best oysters in town! Baked oysters, raw oysters both were A+! I also ate the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection!

Local atmosphere. Good place for cheap oysters. Other than that... everything was so so. Fish was a bit salty and has too much butter. Hey... It's Alabama. it's ok.
