Food is good and seemed clean enough. Service is not very good especially with a group. Sometimes they act like they would rather not have business but I guess everybody has an off night

It's very convenient for us. Food is good, service is good, usually quick with no waiting and the kids like it.

Went with a friend for lunch today. She ordered a frozen margarita and they didn't have at 11:30 on a Saturday. Really? I ordered water with lemon and it was so hard that no juice came out. Lighting atrocious and the menu is printed on dark paper so REALLY hard to read. My friend ordered two hard tacos and said the meat did not taste like hamburger meat. I got a chalupha and it was a soggy flat tortilla covered with beans, cheese, and lettuce. I was sick less than a half hour later to the point I had to come home and lie down. Been sick all afternoon. The waitress didn't ask about separating the check and the kid behind me kicked me in the back on the other side of the booth the entire time we were there. First and last trip to this one of thirty Mexican restaurants in Decatur.

This is actually one of my all time favorites! For the most part, one Mexican restaurant is often as good as the next. So what sets this apart from the others? First, the lunch buffet is very good. There is a wide variety of items to choose from and most notably, the sopapillas and fried bananas were heavenly. The real star of La Hacienda is the Molcajete, though! A delicious combination of beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, chorizo, onion, pepper and tomato all served in a deliciously seasoned broth. All that goodness is piled onto a Cactus leaf and served sizzling hot in a very large stone molcajete right from the oven. On the side you get a plate of fresh vegies, tortillas, guacamole and sour cream that cool down the sizzling meat and veggies. If that is a little more than you want, the Especial is the way to go. It's pretty much the same thing as the Molcajete sans cactus leaf and molcajete and the portion may be a little smaller. You do get rice and beans with it.

I am surprised to see such glowing reviews from others. We took a chance on this restaurant after a soccer game while in Decatur. My family thinks the first test that a Mexican restaurant must pass is with their chipss and salsa. Fail. So flavorless and below average. My meal was flavorless and boring as well. My plate was over run by an excessive amount of soupy refried beans. My husband ordered a large combo platter with a variety of items. He was equally put off by the lack of flavor. We both love Mexican food and can usually chow down when it is great. We took a big chance on an unknown and it was a fail! Sorry!

Disclaimer: This rating is based solely on one lunch from the buffet. Buffets are usually all MEH! Don't even know why I did it. Disclaimer 2: I have high expectations for Mexican food since I became addicted to BuenaVista in Cullman, Al Disclaimer 3: I wanted to give it 2 stars but bumped it up to 3 stars after serious contemplation since the staff was so nice and the buffet, while not fantastic, was better than other buffets I've ever regretted trying. After looking at the menu and analyzing their buffet I decided to just get the buffet. I'm not much for buffets but they had pico de gallo AND salsa verde for me to eat all I could! Buffet and drink was only $6.99 which is less than any one entrée I could have gotten from the menu. It wasn't terrible by any means but food was just ok-2 stars for flavor. I'd say Mexican buffet food is still better than a Ryan's any day. There was good variety-steak and chicken fajita meat, shredded chicken, ground beef, taquitos, chimichangas, burritos, enchiladas, taco and tostada shells and toppings. The server would get more stars because he was really nice. Poor thing, I made him point out everything on the buffet to tell me what it was. I know my Mexican food but nothing was labeled so you couldn't tell if it was beef or chicken, the chimichangas looked just like the taquitos, and the enchiladas looked just like the burritos. (Shortish Story: He pointed at something and said "blahdoeiahoabojtaketa". So I stared at him in dumb blonde likeness until I realized that he said it was some kind of taquito (which I only deciphered because of the shape). So I said "TAH-KEY-TOE?", you know like all southerners say taquito. And he nodded. So I said "Ok you say it different than me, you gotta say it in a country accent so I can understand". AND HE DID! Then I said it in my best Spanish accent and then we totally got each other. It was so funny. But he probably thought I was the dumbest redneck to enter the establishment. Just representin' y'all!) The burritos were COLD and I was there right at opening. I told them and they came out to inspect but I don't know if they ever adjusted it. The best part to me was the pico, I ate way too much of it with chips because the salsa just tasted like stewed tomatoes. I also liked the cheese quesadillas, shredded beef taquitos, and assemble-yourself-sopapillas. I guess I'd suggest going here if you were looking for a lot of food for cheap but don't go here with high expectations for the lunch buffet. PROS: The steak fajita meat, which I only got a bite of to try, was tender and had onions, peppers, and tomatoes. The tomatoes were a nice touch. The pico was delicious! The toppings selection was great: white cheese, sour cream, pico, red salsa, salsa verde, guacamole, lettuce, fruit All-you-can eat was the cheapest meal option Buffet had a lot of selections Service BIGGEST CONS: Cold burritos on the buffet Salsa that tasted solely of stewed tomatoes Menu smells like the wiped it with a sour rag

My experience here was it was better than doing drive thru. It wasn't very clean and the bathrooms needed attention. My waiter got my drink wrong twice. And we had the buffet. Shame on us for trying to eat a Mexican buffet in northern Alabama I know. But still expected some authenticity and felt it was a lot of canned sauces and overcooked meat. Wasn't horrible but just not what I was hoping for.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
