One word... awesome! I had the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. So good. The staff greeted each person they knew by name (and there were a lot of regulars)

This was my first experience at this restaurant. The service was amazing for the fact that they were completely slammed for lunch. The wait staff was personable and friendly. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch.

Highly recommend this place!! Food was awesome and I recommend trying the Tomato Pie if the have it. Fried Chicken is just like your mother cooked. Great lunch stop and reasonable price!

I got the BLT and was disappointed with the 3 thin strips of bacon and the untoasted bread. My friend got the fried chicken and bit into completely RAW chicken.

This is a fun little "meat and three" sort of place that reminds me of my college years in Oxford (except the prices are tripled). Everything is fresh and serving hours are very limited. Portions are HUGE and many of the selections are fried. There are plenty of vegetable options with different methods of cooking to add variety.

Biscuits and Gravy, Caramel French Toast, Waffles. ..A little of everything. You will not be disappointed. Prices are very reasonable

Must get the hash brown casserole!! Service is always great. Cashing out can be an ordeal because everything is done in the iPad, but the speediness of receiving your meal makes up for the time.

We loved out lunch there! I got a veggie plate with tomato pie- which was INCREDIBLE, sautéed cabbage- not mushy, not greasy, perfectly seasoned, tomatoes and cucumber salad- perfectly prepared with fresh veggies, and broccoli salad- it had just enough 'dressing', I don't like it when there's so much it's just all you can taste. My boyfriend had the boston butt and loved it, as well as broccoli casserole (I tried it- SO GOOD), limas, and a side salad (not your average boring side salad). We left fat and happy and will be back for lunch! Can't wait to come for breakfast, as well!

I'll definitely be going back!!! A small intimate setting with a pleasant atmosphere great for brunch/lunch date or meeting if you get some time on the eastern shore and they're open I would definitely check it out.

I must have driven right by this place 1000 times and never noticed it. When Sonya said that it reminded her of the Beacon, it went straight to the top of my list of restaurants to try. Pulling up, the first thing I noticed was how charming the little house-turned-restaurant looks. Between the lush landscaping and old hardwood floors, it reminds me of my Mamma's house. There are several seating options outdoors on the porch and in the yard too. Aside from a few staple menu items, such as hamburger steak and grilled chicken breast with white BBQ sauce, they have daily lunch specials. Friday's special is country fried steak. There's an abundant selection of vegetables. The meat and vegetable combos are delicious! It's mostly fried foods, but not what I would consider real greasy. The key lime pie we had for dessert was a little too tart for my taste, but my husband and son loved it. I can't say that it's as good as the Beacon until after I check out their breakfast and Tuesday's special, chicken and dressing, which I look forward to trying. The prices were fairly reasonable and the service was fantastic. It's a great little breakfast or lunch spot. Unfortunately, they're not open for dinner.

I LOVE Sugar Kettle! Not only is it super cute, they have some great food and service. My family and I like to go on Sundays to get the grilled chicken with the white BBQ sauce. It is AMAZING! We are officially addicted! We had a great experience today. My brother's burger took a little too long to cook, so we had to wait longer than usual. We did not complain nor did we act rude or impatient, but our waitress was so upset we had to wait she let her manager know the situation and she took care of us. They were all super nice and apologetic even though we hadn't said anything about having to wait! I've always experienced great service and food while going to Sugar Kettle! Just wish they were open for dinner too!

It's a rainy, gloomy day and I thought I'd seek out some comfort food. Big mistake! Greasy, fatty, soggy pork chops (this is a "specialty item for which I paid extra!) which were just awful and overwhelmingly garlicky. Inedible. Shudder*. Tasteless lima beans.. I do mean tasteless. Not a drop of seasoning. Lima Beans and water. And OMG.. "rice and gravy"? This should be a criminal offense. The rice was clearly washed after cooking with water - (those who CAN cook rice don't need to douse it in water!) totally tasteless. The "gravy"? Seriously? This was brown colored water. No meat base or flavoring of any sort - ZERO FLAVOR. No seasoning, no sautéed vegetables, nothing. I don't even think they bothered with any salt, lol. The mac & cheese - well, it was very dried out but at least you could taste the cheese. I really enjoyed this place a couple of years ago when they first opened. But the last couple of visits have been real disappointments. Today was simply one of the worst ever. Won't be going back. Sonic or Chick-fil-A are nearby. Pretty sad when bad fast food is better than someone's "home-cooking"! Another shudder***. And this disgusting meal was almost $20!

Country fried steak was amazing! We went on a rainy Sunday, had a coupon, ordered and sat on the porch. This is southern cooking at its best. My wife got the hamburger steak which had a delicious gravy but was a bit dry. The sides we had were all wonderful. Mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, green beans, squash casserole, and corn bread.

When I think of this place, I think of how I can't wait to get some southern fried chicken! I love the lima beans as a side dish, i love the dessert. I love that it is this a renovated house in the middle of parking lots and a lot of corporate buildings. It stands out. You walk in, grab a paper menu from the cash register and get on line. Place your order then they seat you in any of the rooms within the house. The service is great/friendly each time. They only serve/are open for lunch. There is local art work on the walls for sale.

Lovely little restaurant with great home cooking. Our group had trout almondine, sauteed squash and onions, tomato "pie," hamburger steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was very tasty - standouts were the trout, squash and onions, and the tomato pie. Staff was friendly and efficient. The sweet tea was perfect. Will definitely return!!

The food and service here had always been good until today. I ordered a cup of chili and a half sandwich. I found a long hair in my chili that really grossed me out. When I showed the waitress and told her that I could not eat it and did not want anymore she brought another cup anyway. I did not want anything at this point, I could not eat. They would only give me half of my money back even though I did not eat anything. I have there many times before but this experience has ended my time at The Sugar Kettle. If you should go, check your food BEFORE you eat!!!

Great cafe'....This was an old house that was completely renovated.....nice atmosphere and great food. They are only open during lunch, but if you have a craving for a good "home cooked" meal, this is a good place to go. You can check the website to find out what's on the menu before you go! Located on 64 behind Staples.

Yummy, homestyle cooking that is flavorfull and fresh. This restaurant used to be a home, and it can get very crowded, and ordering isn;t always the most calm procedure, as everyone gets bunched up in a mass, and then you order and try to get a table. But the food is worth it. I have had the smothered pork chops, meatloaf and fried chicken the times ihave been here. ALL WONDERFUL! The sides are homemade and the field peas are wonderful. No other place in the south has such great peas. The lot fills up fast and early, so be prepared for a wait during the lunch rush. The menu is always changing and what is in season is what is served.

Pretty good food, large portions, cozy ambience and friendly service. -- not outstanding, but good place to go for lunch when you're in the mood for home cooking.
