These guys know what they are doing. The venue is gorgeous, lots of parking, cute outdoor seating area, huge spot for bands in the garage, and did I mention a rotating local art collection hanging on their walls. They have a wonderful selection of site made brews, my favorite being the reliable Bankston 88. It's smooth and easy and perfect for all occasions. They have many beers they rotate for our enjoyment. Trim tab is run by a couple who are fun loving as much as they are beer loving. It makes for a lively and welcoming atmosphere. I have come here right after the gym in work out clothes and just as at home as I did when I came dressed to the nines before a night on the town.

Out of all the local breweries this is my favorite. It's summer so all the beers on tap are light, crisp, and flavorful! I have not had a beer that I didn't like there. I can't wait til it gets cool and I can great something darker. The vibe is really young and hip in here. You will get greeted by a good looking hipster dude from behind the bar when you walk in. Some nights they have a DJ and a theme party. And some nights it's hella chill and you can sit on the porch with your dog. They will be canning their beer soon so that's pretty legit!

It's taken me 4 visits to give them the 5 stars they deserve. The first couple of times they were out of some of their flagships that really showcase these guys' talent. Both their rye brown and IPA are my favorite craft brews in town with just enough flavor without losing that crisp taste that makes beer beer. I can see why they run out so often! The courtyard out back is very chill and a great casual space to share a beer with some friends. The inside taproom isn't really my scene at night as they usually have a dj and funky light shows going on but I imagine it's a good time if you're into that kind of thing. Weekend afternoons are much more relaxed and it's a great place to hang out. They even play movies on Sunday afternoons so you can grab a pint and just relax for a couple hours with a good flick. The people are always incredibly friendly and their story is really inspiring. Good honest people making good honest beer is something I can definately get behind!

I can't believe i'm just now writing a review on this place. I have to say this is my favorite brewery in Bham. The beer is delicious with their Raspberry Berlinger Weisse being my all time favorite. What I also love is that the flavors are consistent. You never have to wonder if the flavor will be the same twice. On Sundays they have movie day hosted by Doris the bulldog, also known as their unofficial mascot. They also have musical entertainment almost every night, even during the week. Their events are well thought out and heavily attended. On a more personal note, they were kind enough to let my husband and myself get married in their brewing room and were super helpful and accommodating in getting everything set up. I really don't have enough good things to say about this place. It's pretty much my favorite place to take the pups and go chill on any given evening. Two thumbs way up!

Yet another great brewery in Birmingham. I would much rather have the quality than the quantity around here... and Trim Tab keeps that tradition rolling. I have enjoyed their beers on numerous occasions in various locations. So I won't go into too much detail on those. Although I will say their IPA and Bankston 88 are superb. Overall the space is really cool. When you park in the front, you walk down a long narrow outdoor area with a lot of great outdoor seating and tables. The bar is really cool, and the rest of the area is very relaxed. There is a sofa sitting area and a small stage in the corner. The space is large and I can definitely see some future events in there. On the other side from where you walked in, there is ANOTHER outdoor space. Along with their already established beer, a great taproom accompanies those properly.

One time I walked into Trim Tab and that disco ball was a'turnin and I was like "no sir." and walked out. Flashing lights are migraine triggers... but not this past weekend! I attended the first Yacht Club of the summer and it was a swell time with fun tunes, though NO ONE DANCED until like 11 pm when it was almost over. What is wrong with people? Gah. Anyhow, I know TT has been around a minute and everyone probably knows all about it but I didn't. They don't really have much of a beer selection. On the one hand the limited selection is nice. Make a few things and make them well. On the other...I was only interested in the IPA so a few more choices would have been nice. But as far as IPA's go it was quite good. I'm not a fan of super hoppy like GP's..so this hit the spot. I loved their seating areas. The Eero Saarinen tables. Yeah man. All the art on the walls (whoever that artist is). The nod to trim tabs on planes (whatever those are) with the plane mobiles on the ceiling. The lights strewn about.....and the free popcorn! Yeah! the vibe was quiiiiite lovely. I will be back. :)

I've had Trim Tab beer a lot but the other day was the first time I've gone to the brewery. I was meeting up with a UAB group and I really liked the atmosphere. The door was hard to find at first and most people that met us there said the same thing but I was very impressed by the outdoor seating area and the indoor ambiance. I love the pillar to post. The staff there was incredibly friendly and service was fast. I have had the raspberry berliner weisse before and it's a little too tart for me so I stuck to my favorite, pillar to post, for the whole night. The disco ball comes on a little later in the afternoon so if you can stay there for that, it's incredibly enjoyable. The only negatives I can say about this place is that they keep your card after you open your tab. I would rather be charged 30% for not closing my tab then accidentally leave my car at a bar overnight. Also, I have wanted a trim tab shirt/tank for MONTHS and they only had one selection in my size. I checked the website and you can't buy tanks on there either. I wish there was a better way to figure out how much and of what merchandise they had because I would totally invest.

I absolutely love this place. Why did it take me so long to go here? Originally I was thinking it may be to hipster for me but I was wrong. The place is so fresh and bright. There was a dj playing great music. The patio area is chill and fun. The beer tenders rock they are nice and knowledgeable. I cannot wait to return. Yet again another place to be proud of in Bham.

Five stars! I typically enjoy craft beer but there aren't many that I enjoy EVERY brew. I liked EVERY SINGLE brew and the flavor certainly stood out to me. The owners are from Asheville, NC, so they know a bit about beer. I encourage multiple visits and try all their brews. Bravo on your brew options and best of luck in your growth and inevitable success! Trim Tab was fantastic. Go try them out today!! Enjoy!

I'm always up for a new brewery and Trim Tab is definitely a new favorite! They have some interesting beers on the menu...and probably some of the best beers in Birmingham. The atmosphere is just very funky and fun.

Very cool taproom with a retro, 60's feel. Was cool to enter through the alley, not being sure if we were trying the correct door--gave the place a speakeasy type feel to enter like that. Visited the day after they opened the taproom, so I'll have to go back to try more beers (rye brown was great, and all others I've tried around town are good as well). Staff were very friendly and encouraged us to take our beer into the brewery and wander around the bright tanks and Airstream trailer.

The Pillar to Post Rye Brown Ale is fantastic. I've had their Cucumber Saison previously and it is excellent as well. Looking forward to seeing what these guys are going to do!

Trim Tab has just about everything I want in a brewery: fantastic atmosphere, frequent live acts, and of course great beer. Their flagships (especially the Pillar to Post) are consistently solid. I especially enjoy the small batches that they out out like the PBJ and Cinnamon toast crunch ales. An added bonus is that Trim is dog friendly. Keep doing what you're doing Trim Tab!

The atmosphere is everything. The beer is amazing and the people are even better. I love going on a Saturday to drink with my friends and sometimes cantina is there as well!! Extra plus!

Trim Tab is everything Avondale is not...bartenders enjoy a beer while working, taproom is home to dubstep parties, and local artists display their work for patrons to peruse during their visits. The main clientele I've seen falls into the "indie" category...mainly people who do what they want and enjoy the company of others. I like the vibe and look forward to attending a night show soon.

Trimtab is not just a brewery. It cultivates a sense of community. Families and dogs are welcome. Board games like Scrabble and Cards Against Humanity provide a relaxing and humorous way to spend time with friends. Charismatic and inviting bartenders are ready to serve you their fresh, balanced beers. Popcorn is complimentary. Food trucks and musicians frequent this destination weekly. Come by on Sunday's to see what movie Drew is playing on the projector. If you're in Birmingham and you haven't been to Trimtab, you are missing out on something special.

Cool atmosphere, played games, ate popcorn and drank beer. Birmingham has some cool craft breweries and this is a must stop!

It's great to have a new hangout in Birmingham. The room was full of people but not too full, and a great variety of people were trying it out. The beers are reasonably priced at $5. I tasted the IPA, which was pretty good. The room is large and spacious with only a few tables, chairs, and couches. There is a bar on one side, and a place a small band could probably play. The decor is pretty minimal (cement block and metal room), but there are paintings on the wall. The lighting is good. My main complaint is that the room is extremely noisy and that I had problems understanding people over 3' away. The main reason I go to public places is to talk with friends or people watch. I would be happy to visit the establishment again.

Walking up to the taproom is a little creepy for your first time, but when you walk into the roomy open taproom there's an instant good comfortable feeling to the place. 5 out of 5 beers I tried we're on point, rye brown is my favorite.

This is probably the coolest taproom in Birmingham: nice ambiance, proper glassware, and pleasant taproom attendants. Why the three star? The beer is less than stellar, and usually served at a colder temperature than what they should, which masks the flavor. They're still fairly new, so hopefully their beer will improve.

At first glance this place was a bit sketchy. We walked down an alleyway/smoking section and wondered if we found the right place off 5th. Luckily we kept walking & found a gem behind the grey doors. Very hipster! I personally love the decor. Not stuffy, but inviting. Lots of space (at least close to 11pm on a friday....then again the grand opening hasn't happened as of now). Grand opening set for March 28th & 29th. Scheduled to have 8 beers on tap, food trucks & good times had by all. The staff was amazing...3 total maintaining all customer requests. Very accommodating, friendly and thankful to have our business. I was afforded the opportunity to try beers before deciding which to order. I'm not a beer snob yet and often have trouble deciding which brew will best suit my taste. I was pleased with my Rye Brown Cask w/Irish oak=YUM! Hubby got the nitro rye brown-creamy brew=good! Grand total=$10 (minus tip) Harris was a delight to meet. He is the founder of the brewing company & so personable. Loved his selection of musical tunes of the night. Had such a variety that encouraged folks to enjoy the atmosphere even more. The iPad cashier/dj options works well. All in all this place is pretty nice- I like the chill Friday night vibe, I hope business builds for Harris' (&team) sake, I however kinda like keeping gems like these in my back pocket...eat your heart out yelpers See ya at grand opening Happy Friday night sips (be responsible)

Came here while visiting my boyfriend's sister and she recommended this place. Chill atmosphere with plenty of sofas and seating. They had a DJ in the middle of the day, which was funny. My boyfriend had a great IPA, but we both loved the Raspberry Berlinerweisse the best.

My husband and I sometimes will go on our own brewery crawls in the summer and when we made it to Trimtab I fell in love. This is by far the highest quality beer in birmingham and they have the best taproom, in my opinion. The employees are very nice and they always have a good variety of things to try. They have lots of seating and it's pet friendly if that matters to you. The raspberry wheat is my favorite by you really can't go wrong with anything here. Plus, if you like local art, they have a rotating gallery that you can buy from! Love it!

We biked here on a Sunday afternoon (2/23) and sat inside to enjoy a few beers. While the menu was, indeed, limited they've only had a 'soft' opening. All three beers that were available were delicious and fairly priced ($5). The building is basically a concrete box with good lighting (a nice advantage over GPBC) with sparse but pleasant decorations. I appreciated that they are featuring a local artist's ,Paul Whim, paintings as both custom pieces for the taproom and pieces for purchase. I can't imagine they'll be able to comfortable accommodate more than 100 people when full to the gills unless they are able to claim some of the yard space as a patio... so far, no beer is allowed outside, only in the enclosed courtyard. All in all, I think this place is really, really promising. A few more beers on tap, a bike rack outside, and a more appealing entrance/outside area will push this place into 5-star contention.

This is my second-favorite tap room in Birmingham (after Avondale). It is in the middle of an industrial and storage area near nothing, but many cool tap rooms are in such areas for the cheap rents. The taproom itself is quite large with an extremely high ceiling for a feeling of real spaciousness. I admit that I am a fan only of one of Trim Tab's beers, but I feel that one beer is as good as any in the U.S.: the Pillar to Post Rye Brown Ale. Try it at the tap room! What a perfect marriage of slight brown-ale hoppiness and perfect rye flavor. Absolutely outstanding!

Awesome place, definitely 5 star! Great beer with a great atmosphere. Love their DJ when I was there, never seen that at a brewery before! Definitely will come back again.

I love their taproom and their beer! It's not as hoppy as Good People nor as sweet as Avondale, yet they have brews full of flavor and personality. I think they can appeal to causal beer drinkers and craft lovers alike. The taproom is full of what I'm guessing is local art, you can buy it, and the lighting is perfect. Trim Tab is a well brewed and charming addition to our growing beer scene. I can't wait to see how far she will go!

Not an extensive taproom menu (at least when I went), but the beer is indeed delicious and I got to park in a field, which makes me happy. When the weather is good, I see this being a quality friday/saturday afternoon go-to, as they are walking distance rom Lakeview. The beers I had were $5, which is in line with what GP Brewing charges.

After hearing about Trim Tab Brewery opening, I was excited because I had been hearing a lot of good things about their beer before the brewery/taproom opened. I had not yet tried any of their beer, but was very pleased whenever I had a pint of their Old Ale. Since I only had one beer the night I went, I am curious as to how the others are, especially the Cucumber Saison. As for the taproom, it was nice and spacious with table games such as jenga and scrabble. Additionally the location is really handy with it being close to Pepperplace and Lakeview.
