No cover on a Friday night, with a DJ inside and a live band outside? Win. I've had the food, and it's alright, especially if it's late and you're having trouble finding an open kitchen. 3 stars Not quite an upscale place, not exactly a place where I'd drop $10 on a mixed drink either, but if you want a lively spot to get a beer in the Lakeview area, stop in.

The pollo del sol... This dish was served on a 18" plate, half filled with quesadillas, half filled with freshly fried tortilla chips with two little sauce cups, one with sour cream, the other with black bean sauce. Yowza. The quesadilla was pleasantly sweet, with a nice smother of chipotle BBQ sauce and had a nice kick with the sun dried tomatoes. I think it may have been the queso blanco sprinkled within the quesadilla that gave it that sharp cheesy taste, to remind you that you were eating a quesadilla. The portions were massive, the customer service was so friendly, and the atmosphere was very comfortable.

Great place for a group of friends. Live shows weekly with great artist. Very laid back fun atmosphere in the happening Lakeview area. Good happy hour specials.

I have been here twice now and I've been forced to leave and made feel very awkward because the "security " made hand gestures TO ME AND MY 6 FRIENDS to hurry up! I'm sorry we tip too well for this to ever happen . No thank you tin roof.

For about a year now, I've been going to Monday Run located at the Tin Roof. This place has become an icon amongst runners. Now I recently learned that Tin Roof no longer caters to the running crowd and the organizers of the Monday Run have thus moved to another location. Personally, I find it quite bizarre, and trust the judgement f the running crowd. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling inclined to keep visiting this place. I'd be more than glad to change my review, if in the future this place doesn't segregate. Not catering to all crowds is not good business. Other than this negative information, this is a centrally located bar that can hold large crowds. The service however is a bit slow. I'm hoping this place gets better, because its a great location. Note: since posting this review the owner of the company did personally reach out and try to mend our differences, which was very unexpected. It is because of this that I've raised my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. That gesture and his words were a surprise. I do hope that more business owners take on his initiative. I was impressed.

Not very impressed with any bar that brings a shot of patron in a plastic cup. Wait staff is hit or miss. I was not impressed with their food at all. Outside is nice. Won't be back unless a friend specifically requests it.

We love this joint! There is always something to do and the best sweet tea in town. Half indoor half outdoor. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the faves

Love this place!!! Their Cuban sandwich is off the chain. Plan to go hungry because this isn't your typical bar food!! And if it's nice out, sit outside on the patio or back bar.

They claim they have a chef, and that it's not your normal bar food. While the menu is fairly diverse, I must say that the items I tried were completely lacking in flavor. Like ZERO seasoning was used. My friend and I started with chips and salsa. The chips had no salt on them and tasted like cardboard. Bland cardboard. The salsa was watery at best, and needed salt and maybe a little jalapeño to liven up the taste. I had the grilled veggie sandwich. The bread was good and the veggies were cooked properly, but again, there was simply no flavor to the sandwich. To the "chef", please try seasoning what you serve. Because I like the atmosphere here, and because it's convenient, I'll go back and try a different item to see if I have a better experience.

The music at the front of the bar plays Top 40s while there is a live band in the back so there's a bit of something for everyone. There's always plenty of room to dance and it never gets too crowded that you can't get where you need to. There always seems to be just enough room at the bar to squeeze your order in. I was a bit bummed about the $5 cover since it wasn't really that late yet. I'd come back here but only with friends. The atmosphere in the back area is pleasant. I had 2 unrelated strangers hi-fiving me for some strange reason.

I have heard people tout the burgers here, and have been meaning to give them a try. Met a friend here for drinks after work on a Friday. I had never been there before. I got there first, and found a seat easily. The waitress wasn't quite sure what beers they had on tap; she fumbled through some semblance of a list to come up with about three. I have no idea how many beers they normally have available, but I would make an educated guess that it's probably more than just Bud and Yuengling. Good thing I like Yuengling. Maybe I threw her game off by asking for a specific beer that they didn't have - not sure. She did not tell me about any specials or make any recommendations. It wasn't until my friend arrived that I found out that before 7pm, our draft beers were $2 and nachos were half price. I had a hard time deciding between several things on the menu (cheese fries, Cuban sandwich, pizzadillas)... So because they were on special, I ordered the build-your-own nachos and was quite happy with the accoutrements that were offered to have them your way. Waitress came back around to check on us, and I ordered a second beer to get it in before 7, but was charged regular price for it. Can't really complain about a couple of beers and some nachos for less than $12 (actually, that was the awesome part), but the experience could have been so much better with a server who actually cared about that experience. I might come back sometime, but then again I might not.

Went here on a Saturday night and had a blast, they had a dj (top 40) in the front and band in the back. Both music selections were good. This place is huge , the only downfall is the bathroom situation. One bathroom cone on. I would go back, we had a good time.

While the service was fairly good, the draft selection and chicken fingers were mediocre. There was some talk about the quesadillas being a house specialty, so perhaps I'll return to give them a try, but otherwise the place didn't grab me.

Unusually terrible service tonight. Tried to get in and (very humorously) accidentally pushed a garbage can over. After we apologized the bouncer asked if we thought it was funny. Not being the type to be dishonest, we answered yes. Next thing we know we aren't allowed in to grab a bite to eat and some drinks. Apparently an honest accident at the Tin Roof means you're not getting in for the night.

Had a great time here. I play in a touring band, Manamana, ( manamana.org ) We had a night off & stopped in for their Tuesday night open jam w/ Birmingham Bourbon Jam. They were fun w/ a lot of material. A couple of us joined them on stage for a set after we played. The service from the bartenders was good & friendly. Had a decent amount of people for a Tuesday night from many walks of life. Was a fun night & we'll stop back in next time we're in the area regardless of having a gig there or not!!

After having been there a few more times I'm afraid I have to change my rating from four to a three. It's still great for lunch or dinner, but is still WAY too crowded late at night. The last Saturday night I went there, I couldn't close my tab or go to the bathroom without waiting 20 minutes for either. There were just So. Many. People. I ended up just leaving and coming back the next day to pick up my card. Thankfully they didn't charge me extra gratuity for leaving my card over night. Aside from that, I feel old there for some reason. I'm only 25, but the crowd there seems to be on the young, young side. Not a huge deal, but that combined with the endless sea of people you have to wade through doesn't do it for me. Still a good restaurant, though.

Been here for a concert (Shooter Jennings) and for drinks, but this was my first time dining (lunch). Chips and white queso (with jalepeno) were good, and the salsa was great-fresh cantina style, obviously homemade. I had one of their "pizzadillas", which was basically pizza sauce and toppings in flour tortilla quesadilla style. It was OK, but I'll try something else next time, a burger or their Tin Roof sandwich which is grilled chicken with peanut butter.

My girlfriends and I went for the first time and all of use love this place. It is pretty non-descript from the outside but it certainly makes up for it in sheer size. We went on a Saturday night at approximately 9pm. It was already busy, but did not feel crowded. At 10pm a live band played and even more people showed up and it was standing room only. By 11pm the full capacity had been reached. The drinks were good and plentiful and the wait staff was friendly but a bit sparse for table service. The back patio is where it is at. We had a great time.

Went to Tin Roof for the first time almost a week ago. Saw "Lost Trailers" and "Brewsters Millions". Met so many different people. Only problem I had was who knew that a 2 beers and 2 drinks would equal out to a 35.00 tab!!!

What do you get when combine a beach bar transplanted in Birmingham with a sports bar, then add in a live music venue and top it off with above average food? You get The Tin Roof. Anyone from Birmingham is familiar with this spot. You probably have fond memories of drinking your first beer at this location when it was TC's. But, you probably have bad memories of drinking your first beer surrounded by the "Birmingham should come condemn this place immediately," atmosphere and decor. Good news, though, friends. The new owners took the old iconic dump and turned it into a comfortable, friendly inside and out music joint. The vibe is good, the music is great for the area, the staff is friendly and provides really good service and there is some really cool locally painted murals in the back. The food is easily good enough when you're in the mood for quesadillas. Tin Roof even has even concocted the Frankenstein of bar food...the Pizza-dilla. Its variety of quesadillas stuffed with all your favorite pizza toppings. The Chicken Parm and the Devine Street Devil are my personal favorites. The Cuban sandwich is far from Savannah and Mojitos, but its pretty good by B'ham standards. Once the happy hour and dinner crews cycle out, the place goes Optimus Prime and transforms smoothly into a happening nightspot. They have a solid beer selection and your traditional B'ham bar liquor selection. More times than not the bands they have are a step or two above the typical Birmingham cover bands that get passed around like a bad gift at Christmas time (or Hanukkah, Kwanza, Festivus, etc). No need to go grab your U.S. Band or Velcro Pygmies get ups from the cleaners, though, because The Tin Roof is probably going in a different direction unless something changes. So, obviously that's a plus. The inside can get pretty loud and crowded, especially before it warms up, but there is no smoking inside (big plus even for most smokers). And, on the weekends during the cooler weather it gets Innisfree crowded inside. But, fear not...there is a massive outside area that is partially covered with access to 2 bars. Plus, the outdoor stage is HUGE with some banging audio equipment. If this place ever finds a way to put in some old school lawn seats then Oak Mtn Amphitheater might be in trouble (blatant hyperbole). So, take advantage of the 9 months of Summer in B'ham and checkout the new addition to the lineup in Lakeview.

Stopped in as a last minute choice last night for an early dinner, since we wanted to try something new. Overall I think it will be a good new addition to the bar scene, with much better food than you can typically find in a bar. I will have to check it out sometime for the live music. The back patio looks like it will stay packed all summer. For dinner, I got the turkey club and it was great. The fries were crinkle cut with spices which is better than without, but nothing I would write home about. My friend got the beanie quesadilla (chicken and black beans), which was delicious. It was served with chips and salsa, but the salsa was very tame. The server was nice and also quick, but there were little details that let you know that you are at a bar before a restaurant. We had to request paper towels in the restroom, napkins and condiments at the table, and our bill/receipt was provided on a "build your own nachos" pad as a writing surface. Fix a few of the little things and that would elevate the experience!

Tried Tin Roof in Birmingham 2 days after it opened. Great lunch atmosphere they have really done a lot with the old TCs building. Menu consisted of 4 main categories, salads , quesadillas, sandwiches and pizzas. Everyone in our group had a quesadilla, except for 1 pizza, which is basically cooked like a quesadilla as well. I had the chicken mushroom quesadilla and it was great. Service was attentive. This place is also focused on nightlife in the popular lakeview area, and will have bands playing thurs-sat nights. There are multiple Tin Roof locations, I have heard good reviews about the one in Nashville.

I went here last Saturday and I had a blast. Sure the place gets busy but it is hands down the most laid back and chill place to hang in Lakeview there is always a great mix of people and the not having to eat at the hot dog truck is always a plus!
