Continue to enjoy our neighborhood Pita Stop. Love that we can place our order and go thru a drive thru to pick up. Enjoyed our combo appetizer, kafta kabob, chicken kabob, and philly steak. And I have been dissatisfied at times, but we still return. It may be the best hummus in Birmingham! I'm a total sucker for good hummus!

My wife picked up some falafel sandwich plates to go for our first experience here. The tabouleh was pretty good but the sandwich a little dry. It was ok but I was a little underwhelmed. About a week later, I ordered the kibby plate to go. On the phone, I asked if it came with bread and hummus and was told that it did. I got home and there was not bread or hummus (shame on me for not checking at the place). Fine - no biggie, the kibby portion seemed generous. I was really disappointed here...it was about 90% wheat and VERY little lamb and maybe a few pine nuts. I want this place to do better because it is so close and the concept is good. I will probably not visit again for awhile.

Food was fine; poor service made it difficult to enjoy. Our server was obviously overburdened but no one stepped in to help and they didn't seem understaffed. Hard to imagine we'll bother going back.

I think the best thing I had here was the lamb on my wife's kabob. The house dressing was pretty much just oil. Hummus was runny and bland. Pita bread was cold which wasn't really an issue except there was congealed butter/fat on it. Ordered the gyro platter and was charged for the tzatziki. Who charges for that when it is supposed to be on a gyro? Large amount of salad with plate wich for some reason had pinapple and marchino cherries. Not very Greek.

This is actually one of our favorite restaurants in the area. We've eaten there a dozen times and have yet to have a bad meal. Never really noted the pita bread isn't served warm but I guess that's a fair point. The food is excellent, portions generally generous. Prices reasonable. Nice atmosphere. Service has always been fine but I do note they seem to have a lot of turnover of wait staff. Highly recommended.

Fast service, good falafel. Same owners as the pita stop downtown, but this one has a nice new interior.

Going here with a friend while in town for the day I was looking forward to some Mediterranean food. We were seated quickly, but then forgotten after asking for a second to review the menu. My friend had to get up and find the server to take our orders. I ordered the falafel plate with a tahini sauce, no cheese and no pita. When it arrived the salad had feta on it and I was brought a yogurt sauce. I mentioned this to the server and he just looked at me like I was crazy for saying something. The falafel and rice were good and a decent portion. The salad and fruit that came with the plate were terrible and very sad. I love fruits and veggies, but I could not eat this. The salad was an iceberg lettuce mixture from a bag with a red onion slice, an olive, 1 slice of tomato and 1 slice of cucumber. This is disgusting and a huge waste of resources. When I order a salad I want real, dark green lettuce loaded with fresh veggies, not this pile of yuck. Also, the fruit was thinly sliced, soggy and gross. I tried to eat the pineapple and orange, but it wasn't edible. So that also very disappointed and a waste of money. The meal was a disappointment and not worth the cost. However, the hummus and baba ganoush was very good. If I could order just the falafel, hummus, baba ganoush and rice I would do that, but would never order the whole plate again.

Went again with friends and ordered the seafood kabob. One of the "better" meal's I've had here but again, I don't understand why they don't warm their pita bread. (Especially after my complaints) It still taste stale. The scallops and shrimp were cooked nicely but the fish still is not cooked that great. I don't know why the cook/chef can't cook simple fish. It should be tender, not mushy. I'll still go again because my husband really likes this place. On a positive, the hummus is delicious and the salad.

Okay, just okay. Falafel had a little too much cilantro (or whatever that green stuff is), their famous house dressing os rather bland and tasteless, hummus is too watery and also bland. Pita bread is flat and dry. Baklava is also dry and almost floury tasting. I prefer nabeels for the best Mediterranean food in town, but nothing in town will come close to the real authentic stuff. Oh well!

My past two visits here have been disappointing, and for this reason I unfortunately have to drop my rating from 5 to 3 stars. In short, Pita Stop is trying to be something it's not. Not sure if there was a change in management or ownership, but there has been a significant change. Prices have gone up noticeably, which is fine if service and product improve with it. Unfortunately this is not the case, as I found the quality of food to be lower than before; still pretty good but definitely not worthy of a 20% price hike. They have taken their "average" servers and tried to make them five-star white tablecloth servers. As a result it has made the whole experience rather weird. I never thought of Pita Stop as a white tablecloth place but that seems to be the direction they're trying to take it. That's their right to make that choice but I never went there looking for that type of experience. Frankly, if that's the route they want to go they have a lot to improve.

I've been coming to the Pita Stop literally my whole life. I nearly always order the same thing: Vegetable Kabob plate. However, the filet kabob and seafood kabob are also fantastic. The Seafood kabob (while a bit pricey) has real quality seafood on it, including jumbo shrimp and even grouper. This location is new, and I think it needs a little work on management and service. Ive had one dish go wrong, but it was set right to my satisfaction, though it could have been done better. Given how many times I've eaten here, I'm willing to let the only one incident go. I will definitely continue returning regularly.

Great food (I especially love the chicken kabobs) with very good service. I'm a regular there on account of the consistently good experience (and relatively late hours).

Simply put: Good food, horrible service. My experience was so bad that I decided never to give this place a second chance. My table (which was actually quite large and hard for all those servers to not see as they walked past on multiple times) was completely forgotten about immediately after sitting down. We thought perhaps they were just waiting for the rest of our party, but no, even well after that we had to go find the hostess and ask for a server. Following that the service was then slow.

There should be a movie about this place,"How to Ruin Customer Relationships and Alienate Great Employees!" Summary: We were here last weekend and spent several hundred dollars. We went back this weekend and our bill put us over $50.00 per person and we legitimately disputed a charge on the bill for $12.99 that quickly became a matter of principle, not cost. The food was great, but even then, it doesn't overcome the wild experience that was to follow the delivery of the check! We got kebab plates, and they were awesome. There was a mistake on one of the orders. We sent the plate back. It immediately came right back out (the wrong order) and we were told to keep it and the right plate would be brought out in addition to it. It seemed odd, but we conceded. Within a few minutes, the meal we ordered had arrived. All was well. Someone screwed up the order. No big deal... until the bill arrived and WE WERE CHARGED FOR BOTH MEALS! Mind you, we tried to send the first one (wrong one) back and it was returned to us with no explanation except for the fact that the meal we ordered would be brought out soon to rectify the situation. Before we get into the downright odd events that followed the arrival of the check, I must state unequivocally that our waitress was exceptional in all regards. She was attractive, well spoken, and well educated. We heeded her recommendations from the wine list and the menu. Not a single recommendation of hers was off the mark. She was spot on with everything and was remarkably attentive to our beverages and the servicing of our table. I can find zero fault with the admirable service she provided. On to the total jerk who was in the position of managing the poor soul who was our waitress. The check arrives and we were charged an additional $12.99 for a meal we tried to send back. We point it out to the waitress who agrees with us that an errors has been made. She's off to the kitchen to fix it. She returns, down trodden, and informs us that the owner/manager (not sure which role they truly held) refuses to take the item off of the bill. We politely informed her that was unacceptable and we would like to see the owner/manager immediately. She agrees and hurries off to the kitchen. She returns to our table without the owner/manager. She explains that the owner/manager is willing to half the price of the entree we attempted to return. While stifling rage at the surreptitious manager/owner, we politely demanded that he make an appearance at this point. We genuinely felt for our poor waitress who was playing middle man to the coward (owner/manager) in the back room who was clearly brow beating her back and forth to our table. He finally made an appearance at our table. If the events that followed could be more awkward, please message me and let me know how! He arrives at our table with the check in hand, and uninvited to do so, takes a seat next to me, and says,"Hi." A long pause follows. Others in our party take charge and inform him of the situation with an explanation that spans a total of about 90 seconds. The explanation culminated in the owner/manager saying,"Okay." and then rising from his seat at our booth and walking off into the kitchen. No introduction, no apologies, no thank you, no you're welcome. NO REASON TO GO BACK. Shortly after he meanders to the kitchen, our waitress returns to the table, explaining that the charge for $12.99 was removed from the bill. She apologized profusely, as she had done every single time she returned to the table, and we explained to her that it was wholly unnecessary. I don't care who made the mistake. If it was the waitress writing down the wrong thing, fine! If it was the kitchen, fine! A mistake is an opportunity to define yourself and your enterprise. A mistake can work FOR you or AGAINST you. This man chose to ensure it worked against him in every single way possible. The poor waitress was bounced back and forth like a pinball because this coward wouldn't come to our table and forced her to return with bargaining tactics which bordered on childish. This is not a flea market. I do not wish to haggle for the price of my meal, nor pay for items which I attempted to return to you because I did not order. He lacked the fortitude to introduce himself once he showed his face. He was not man enough to apologize for the mistake for which his restaurant was responsible. He had every single opportunity to make good on something that was initially perceived as a mistake. I will not return to this place, and I will surely inform everyone who will listen about my ill fated experience at this restaurant that was once placed upon a pedestal. The folks we dined with here last weekend couldn't wait to return to Pita Stop with us in 2 weeks when they are back in town. We'll be dining anywhere but Pita Stop, and I suggest you do the same. To anyone who works for this guy and reads this, know that there are other jobs available in this city!

We went here over the holidays. Soooooo excited they opened another pita stop cafe! They need to open one in Atlanta! It would totally blow other Mediterranean (Lebanese) restaurants out of the water. Well on this last visit to the Pita Stop (first to Cahaba Heights location) we celebrated my birthday. It was great! The hummus is unbeatable, now this will make you want to smack your mama. I don't think you could order a bad thing on the menu. It they put shag carpet on the menu, it would be spiced just right, and get rave reviews by everyone. I ordered rack of lamb this last time, it wasn't as good as it normally is, but I thorougly enjoyed it. My wife got the grouper, it was good. Cons- the cheesecake that they had there this last time was not good. They need to change it. I am sure I will go back to this location many, many times. Lord willing. I love the Pita Stop!

5 stars- after my 1st visit, I believe The Pita Stop is as good as it gets for Mediterranean food! The place is new, and the interior design is fresh and clean. The service was great and the food was delicious. I got a kibbie sandwich, falafel, and hummus (I was hungry). Everything was perfectly delicious, I have no complaints about the food.... if anything I would say the portions are extremely large (not necessarily a bad thing!) My boyfriend got the steak omelette and was ranting and raving about how delicious it was, so it seems like they have the whole non-Mediterranean food thing covered as well. Great restaurant located near the Summit with absolutely delicious food.

Too bad this location is now closed. But great food and great personal service from the owner himself. I will be going to their other location as much as possible.
