Pacific Rim Sushi Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I ordered delivery, so my review is lacking. With that said, the Chicken Green Curry was pretty good. In fact, it's the best I've had in a while. Loved the large pieces of aubergine. Can't wait to eat at the restaurant. Looking forward to trying other dishes.

Not the best restaurant to get sushi. The menu prices are higher than comparable sushi restaurants. I always wondered why the parking lot was sparse when other restaurants in the area were teaming with customers. Sadly I know why!!! If you decide to go bring a coat/jacket, it gets pretty cool in this place.

Sushi was "ok" for $90 for 2 ppl - BUT the service was the worst I've experienced in 34 yrs in the restaurant business and as a "foodie" ....hope you fave better luck - would never recommend or go back

I wasn't overly impressed. Nothing to brag about, overpriced and not as good as other similar places. Mt Fuji is by far a better choice for Hibachi and sushi, not to mention it's cheaper.

The food can be good, but it's not fresh. I was a recent employ at the restaurant but quit after several weeks due to not being paid. There's a lot that I can say about this place, but I will give the highlights. While working, it was never under 77 degrees in the restaurant, in the middle of June. The health inspector was there one morning at 10 when I showed up. He rated the restaurant an 82 and said if he would never eat there. Shrimp was left out to "thaw" for hours at a time. The toilets are always backed up in the restaurant. There was, at one point in time, no hot water OR soap for us to wash our hands with. If you are seated near the wait station in the back, you will smell a foul odor coming from that corner. No clue what it is. Employees never washed their hands. I actually saw the owner and cook cooking one day with a hankerchief in her hand to wipe her nose on after she continuously sneezed. If you order tea, know the tea urns are never cleaned. The health inspector was APPALLED at the state.of the soda machine. It had never been clean and there was mold on the inside of the caps where the syrup comes out. I'm a wonderful employee. I have worked in the industry for 10+ years. This is a horrible establishment. I have NEVER rated someone on Yelp before, especially not a former employer, but I wanted to warn people about this place. It's been closed now for several weeks due to "renovations", but I don't know if it will actually open back up. I never tried to call anyone about not being paid or the conditions because there were several employees there that I really liked that were illegal and I didn't want them deported.

hmmmmm this is my favorite sushi place. but they recently added Thai. So I thought I would order the coconut soup and pad prik chicken. the coconut soup was very good and a little spicy. The warmth of the soup was only warm and did not arrive hot. the pad prik came out and I instantly knew it was not going to an authentic version. I have my first taste and it was VERY bland! So disappointed. You could barely taste any garlic flavor and the chili taste just was not there. I ate some rice and left the rest on the table. I guess that is what I get for ordering Thai in a good sushi place. No more pacific rim THAi For me.

Absolutely amazing sushi! This place was dead quiet on a weekday evening, which surprises me. Maybe it is the location, since it doesn't connect to the other eateries around the Riverchase Galleria, but the emptiness is actually a little off putting. I really don't understand it, because I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. I felt like my waitress was attentive enough, yet still gave me my space. I enjoyed the camaraderie the servers had and they often would joke with each other (remember they really didn't have much to do since it was so empty). I ended up getting the Shaggy Dog and the Bama Roll without jalapenos. That is the one thing about this menu, is they put jalapenos in most of their rolls. I'm not a spicy lover. Both rolls were absolutely delicious! So good that I considered coming back the next night, even though I was trying to try different restaurants around Birmingham. It was definitely too much for one person and could easily have fed two. Since most of the other sushi restaurants are about 15-20 minutes north, I think this is a great one to go to for the area. I will come back next time I'm in Birmingham.

Amazing sushi in Birmingham Area but price is high! Fish is fresh, service is good and the ambiance is nice. Love their volcano makis :)

We ordered the salmon lunch special. It was good; not $50 good, but good, hence the two stars. The fried sides were ok. They were pretty bland and the fried rice I paid extra for were alright. I think they are extremely over priced for lunch. I ordered two lunch specials and two kids' meals. We all drank water and I paid over $50 with tip and tax. The waitress made several mistakes on our order as well as my ticket as I paid. I will not go back. I don't recommend this restaurant.

Chicken was undercooked as were the vegetables. Temperature was not the best in the restaurant either along with an odd smell. I probably won't come back to this establishment unless I have to. I've had better sushi at smaller restaurants. Hey! The edamame was good. But you can't really ruin edamame. Good luck!

A friend and I ate here last night, the service was okay. For the price of what you pay for the food here and the portions that you receive I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There were also a lot of messy tables when we arrived and when we left, and the place was pretty much dead, so it was a simple lack of the employees not cleaning the tables as people left the restaurant. I myself wouldn't return back to his establishment.

My boyfriend and I came on a date here around Valentine's Day. The food was super good, and the fish was superb. The only thing is that it's a bit out of my price range. We had a voucher. I'm not saying it's not worth the money, though. It's good enough to be as expensive as it is! We really didn't know that it was as formal and expensive as it was, so we were a bit ill-prepared, but everything is fantastic.

FANTASTIC SERVICE. We had a large party and were seated in the back in a private room. We had so much fun, the staff was very welcoming and inviting, and we enjoyed our experience very much. The food and drinks are fantastic. I highly recommend the Roll Tide Roll and Bama Crunchy Roll. Although I have had a lot of other rolls and they are all fantastic.

A breath of fresh of air when it comes to atmosphere but at a very high price. If you are looking for great sushi without your wallet getting beat up I recommend finding another place.

In town on business, visited Pacific Rim on a Weds at 5pm, only about 5 tables occupied (I was there very early) I was by myself, order a drink, Miso soup and the Sashimi combo. Service was fabulous, waiter was very pleasant. Food came very quickly, presentation was beautiful, served on a sculpted bed of shaved ice, lots of greenery (not the plastic kind), and every piece of fish was fresh and delicious. As others had mentioned it's a bit pricey and the pieces of fish were a little small but considering there was about 15-17 pieces, it was plenty to fill you up. All in it was $32 before tip. As far as the actual building it was very appealling on the outside and inside. Not a place I can justify eating at every day (due to cost) but I will be back on many occasions.

Good sushi, Great Service, Nice atmosphere. $$$$ would better describe the cost. Drinks and Sushi for a table of 4 was $350.00 with tip. Do over? Yes Refer? Yes Enjoy? Yes I'm a sushi snob, good quality non gut rot sushi is not cheap. You get what you pay for.

Fresh and well presented. Fast friendly and efficient service at the sushi bar. As a single diner and in town for work this was a nice alternative to the other restaurants in Hoover. I thought the prices were not unreasonable. Reading from other Yelpers was helpful, Originally went to Stix but their sushi selection was limited.

  • Scott N.

I finally gave this a whirl with a couple friends from out of town jonesing for some sushi. Since I'm on a much-needed diet at the moment, I only had the sashimi. It was all delicious and very fresh along with a beautiful presentation. My friends had various sushi rolls and were very pleased with them. They're both from big cities with world class sushi restaurants so for them to give their seal of approval says a lot. As other people have said, they're a bit proud of their food so it's not the cheapest sushi you will ever find but you do get a classier upscale dining environment that is perfect for taking a date. I will definitely be back.

Great food, great atmosphere! We get take out from here quite a big too! Green River roll is the best I've ever had! Their food is priced well for what you get! Quality fish and shellfish especially! Friendly staff and easy to order carry out!

Tried again at lunch this week.. I had the California sushi combination. A California roll, and 5 or 6 pieces of Nigri. I though it was pretty good. The fish was very fresh and everything was nicely prepared and presented. The California roll was different from what I expected, but was really good. I though the price was a little expensive at around $17.

Wow! How slow can this place be? The server was good but too embarrassed because of the slow bar tender and sushi chefs to come and check on us. If only I had a dollar every time the words " I apologize" Were said in that restaurant tonight, I would be rich! Asian rim beats this place hands down and is worth the drive!

Absolute best sushi in Birmingham, hands down. Edamame is good, too. On my most recent trip I tried the sea bass appetizer which was small but phenomenal. The fried sweet potato that comes with the lunch was so tasty. There is not a better location in Hoover to take clients or have a business lunch. The atmosphere is fantastic.

The atmosphere is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the other establishmnets. You can tell that they are going for a more upscale feeling which my fiance and I enjoyed. We went for date night and due to the atmosphere and prices, it's obvious that this place doesn't attract lots of families with kids. I'm not anti kids by any means but it was nice to have a date night at an "adult" establishment. We started with the filet mignon negamaki as an appetizer. It was a nice appetizer but I think unfortnately the flavors all came from the sauce. The filet was overcooked for my preference and also lacked seasoning. The good thing is, this was the only thing we didn't like. The seaweed salad was good (it's hard to mess this up). We tried an assortment of sushi and sashimi. I recommend the yellowtail cerrano and the white ninja roll. The yelowtail cerrano has some spice to is due to the peppers so if you don't like spicy it's not your thing. Total bill: Bottle of wine, 1 appetizer, 1 seaweed salad, 4 rolls was $98. This sounds about right with a bottle of wine, maybe slightly more expensive than if i was in a different city but I will take it. So I landed on 4 stars. The appetizer just wasn't up to standard, the rolls were interesting, nothing to crazy but still good. The fish was fresh. Our server was good. I should make one note: 2 months ago I moved from Birmingham to Chicago. If this plce was in Chicago I would give it 3 stars, but that's a city where ther is a sushi restarant every 4 blocks. Here in Birmingham, there really aren't that many so I am not as picky. It's expensive, but there aren't a lot of choices for sushi so they can charge that much. We will be back to this place. I would rather go to this place and blow $100 than have two "mehh" dinners out at $50 a piece.

My second time at this facility. Every thing here has always been great. The flavors the long time chef bring out in the sushi are well balanced and work wonderfully. Good job guys! Decently priced for the food quality.

I should preface this review with the disclosure that this was my first dining experience here and it was with a group of 12 on Friday early evening (3/21). That being said, major persuasive powers would need to be in play to convince me to give this place a second try. We had a reservation (read: they were expecting us) and our group was surprising someone for her birthday. The lead-up went well enough. We were seated in a private dining room with large, modern tables and clean decor. The ambiance in this room was less inviting than the main dining area (too bright) but we appreciated the semi-privacy. Everyone in the group but the birthday-girl arrived during happy hour so we all enjoyed a pre-surprise round of $5 cocktails.... nothing to write home about (the martini was far too sweet) but impossible to complain about at the price point. Once the surprise was executed, we ordered. Initially our two servers seemed superbly organized: introducing themselves, splitting the table, and efficiently taking all of our orders and delivering our second round drinks. The train wreck starts here. Our appetizers were delivered but one couple's was forgotten entirely. It took a solid 15mins for it to show up... awkward. Our requests for extra sake glasses (the table ordered several bottles) arrived late and begrudgingly. The main food (mostly sushi) took an over an hour and a half to be delivered. In the meantime, water service was nearly non-existent and on the rare occasion that they did show up they never managed to bring enough water to fill everyone's glasses... surely they have more than one water pitcher in the place, right? It was a good thing we are all friends and didn't mind sharing when one of us got too parched. When the mains were, finally, delivered there was mass confusion over who ordered what. Plates were delivered and relocated and moved again. Yet again, an entire (different) couple's order was seemingly forgotten. We all did the polite thing and waited 15mins+ for them to finally be served. The sushi was okay but overpriced for the quality of the ingredients, the serving size and the plain plating (decorative plating is part of the allure of sushi for me). The wasabi and ginger were clearly straight out of the sysco tube/can... not fresh, nearly flavorless. When it came time for dessert, we ordered a few items for several of us to split with the birthday girl getting a dedicated plate to herself with a special candle someone brought. Hers came first and was plated nicely. Very oddly, it took another 10-15mins for any other dessert to arrive. She felt awkward and it made no sense given the orders were made simultaneously. What is worse is that all additional desserts looked a mess: haphazardly plated and with the servers treating them so roughly that what little plating effort had been made was ruined from the items slipping/sliding during careless delivery. Yet again, an entire dessert order was forgotten. This one took the longest to arrive... 20 mins. Really, truly unacceptable. We were all making light of the situation but it was just really terrible at this point. It took too long for the checks to be delivered and returned. While I respect the need for an obligatory 18% gratuity on large parties (I usually tip in the 20% range as standard), I will say that under any other circumstance I would have tipped the bare minimum of 15%. All of our problems were directly related to unprofessional, careless and inattentive service... On-point service would have easily compensated for the slightly over-priced fare. I'm hoping our experience was a one-off event but I won't be risking my time/money to give this place a second chance anytime soon.

Food was fine- very good. However, this was some of the worst service I've ever had. We were literally ignored by our waitress. She would walk by without stopping and offer excuses for slow service without taking the two seconds to refill our water glasses. It took about 20 minutes for all of our food to be delivered to our table- and only after we said something to the waitress did she even acknowledge out wait. I will never return.

I was disappointed with the food. I don't have an issue spending money on my food, but it should be for a reason. I've had sushi from a grocery store that puts this place to shame. My friend had some sort of steak and shrimp teriyaki that wouldn't stand a chance against freezer section teriyaki. Overall, I was VERY disappointed.

I went for lunch with a friend on a weekday. The place is cute, appearing upscale. The staff was friendly and the place appeared clean. I ordered the ginger salad ($4.95) which was a good size & one roll that was yummy! For me, I don't like having a $22.00 lunch. This place is overpriced for my liking. The food was yummy, but I like my money too much to return!

The fish was so fresh, I think I saw it move after he plated my sashimi! Seriously, the yellowtail toro was excellent. I had the sushi chef make me a surprise roll that was fabulous. The bartender Deborah used to tend bar at the Ross Bridge Resort. She makes great drinks.

We sat at the bar for nearly 15 minutes while 3 employees saw and even acknowledged us. Yet, no service. We left disappointed with no cocktail and no food. We told the ditzy high school hostess and she said, "Omg, sorry." Haha. It's too bad... this is literally 2 minutes from where I live. It would have been great to have quick sushi &/or cocktails that close to home.

Been going here almost since it first opened almost a year ago. Love this place, but today we had a terrible service experience. Leah was prompt and courteous but she did not seem to understand that when our guest asked if the egg rolls had "meat" in them that pork IS, indeed, a meat. Our guest was incredibly disappointed to find out she had been lied to as she has been pork free for years. What made it worse is that Leah did NOT even apologize for her error, and that definitely put a damper on our meal. We will go back to Pacific Rim but it may be a while for us, and if we are seated in Leah's section we would probably just leave because the service she offers is a bad reflection on the rest of the restaurant. Thank goodness for Tony, the floor manager - he did everything in his power to make our experience more enjoyable!

My daughter and I ate here last time we went to Birmingham. Our waiter looked like Joaquin Phoenix (a plus there in my book!)... Here at Pacific Rim Sushi I consumed more calories at a single sitting than I have for YEARS! I ordered the Acapulco Roll, the Calimari with Mango Chili sauce, a giant gorgeous salad and the fried cheesecake for dessert. Now, someone once referred to the Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish Grill having a sauce that was like (as they said) "culinary liquid crack". Well, MY culinary liquid crack resides currently at Pacific Rim Sushi in the form of the Mango Chili sauce. You could honestly dip tree bark into this stuff and it would transform that bark into something absolutely delicious. A visit to this restaurant definitely merits a try of the fried cheesecake... yes fried. I ate it all and only had my salad with freid chicken strips, mixed baby greens and strawberries to take home. My daughter ordered the Tofu and we both agreed... well.... dipped in the Mango Chili sauce was mouth watering :). I agree with carolyn h.'s review on the atmosphere... a "breath of fresh air".

Awesome new restaurant in Birmingham! Small portions on some appetizers, but fantastic service and scrumptious food!

Best to stick to the rolls with salmon and/tuna. The nigri was terrible -not fresh and was surprised that they even served it. I had albacore & razor clam. Will not return next time I'm in town.

A breath of fresh of air when it comes to atmosphere but at a very high price. If you are looking for great sushi without your wallet getting beat up I recommend finding another place.

I ordered delivery, so my review is lacking. With that said, the Chicken Green Curry was pretty good. In fact, it's the best I've had in a while. Loved the large pieces of aubergine. Can't wait to eat at the restaurant. Looking forward to trying other dishes.
