Ever since my friend moved to Birmingham, I've visited him multiple times and we always stop in On Tap for a few drinks and food. If your a sports fan like us, it's a great place to hang. TV's for days with sporting events on all of them. A few food menu items were added or changed since my last visit, and the table consensus was that it was all for the better. I tried a ravioli and potato wedge, both good. And what's not to love about Fireball Friday? We sure took advantage!!

I met a colleague for a lunch meeting and just ordered some appetizers. They were excellent. The fried mozzerella are wedge shaped pieces and the marinara they were served with was outstanding. I'll definitely be back.

Really dark and not very welcoming. Poor excuse for a pub or sports bar. It's close to home so it is a good location to meet for an okay tasting beer. Service is not the best or worst, just tolerable. Food is greasy and gross. TV sets are of poor quality and the sound is not very good. There are a few other on tap locations in Birmingham but this is the only one I have been to. As I said, it is a great location relative to where I live. They were out of the beer I always drink the last time so that was a bummer but these things happen. They were also out the next time. Their beer selection is average compared to other bars in the area but nothing great for a sports bar. Not sure if I would ever order a cocktail as the bartenders I have seen do not appear to be educated in mixology.

Decent little sports bar in the Inverness area. Great beer selection, lots of TV's, and the food is not bad. Friendly and attentive staff.A little dark and divey but you could definitely do worse.

Im new to the area and thought I would check this place out. The inside is a little on the dive-ish side but they had a huge selection of beers and a great bartender. I got a burger and it wasn't bad. It was cooked just right and tasted fine. I wouldn't make a trip there just for the burger but if your looking to catch a game and have a good choice of beers this is a good spot. The bartender said the wings is what they do best. Maybe I'll try them next time.

Since no one has reviewed this place in a while, I feel the need to point out that they have recently banned smoking at this location. I usually come for live trivia on Wednesday nights, and rarely eat, but the wings are some of the best in Birmingham, and certainly the best in Inverness by a mile! The beer selection is great - I suggest you go on a Thursday if you want to try something new, as most beers are discounted for Pint Night.

Service really sucked tonight. It's like they were intentionally ignoring me. It's not that crowded and there are three employees behind the bar chatting it up amongst themselves. WTF?!

On Tap is great for drinks, not so much for dinner. They have a really extensive beer list, including a lot of local beers such as Good People and Avondale and the bar also boasts generous mixed drinks. The appetizers are great for watching a game or catching up with friends--the nachos and wings and fries all make for great snacks. However, for dinner, it's lacking. The options for a more substantial meal are sandwiches or chili. The chili is good but not great and the sandwiches are definitely something you could make at home. The other problem with eating here is that it is incredibly smoky, which can ruin my appetite. Overall, grab a drink here while you watch the game, but move on for something more to eat.

Great nachos and wings. This place is for smokers! They do have a non smoking section with a little cleaner air.

I made two trips here in the past three days. On Tuesday evening, I was there with three friends. Our server was incredibly unfriendly and inattentive. It seemed as if she was incredibly tired and/or ready to leave. Service was also very slow, even though the place wasn't even half full. On Thursday night, I went to watch the NCAA men's basketball tournament games. Midway through the first half of the Cincinnati-Ohio State game, two women come in (one wearing a "Gators" T-shirt). They were obviously regulars as the one in the Gators shirt went behind the bar and talked to one of the employees. He proceeded to change the big screen TV and the sound from the Cincinnati-Ohio State game to the Florida-Marquette game. There was no consideration for folks who were watching that game. I asked for the tab and left half a beer sitting there. I suspect this is a much better place if the staff knows you/you are a regular. If you're considering trying it out for the first time, do so at your own risk. Personally, I've suffered enough.

Standard sports bar. Better than average beer selection, including a few high gravity choices. Vegetarian food choices are slim, which is to be expected of pub grub, but include a boring salad, grilled cheese, veggie quesadilla, and fried stuff like pickles, green tomatoes, and fries.

Great wings and cheese fries. But really haven't found any other items on the menu that stand out as great.
