First time here for lunch, nice atmosphere. Food was really good. I had the shrimp po boy. You get a lot of shrimp on that beast! Again in this area to be guaranteed a seat come early. Wait staff was more than hospitable, will definitely be back.

Had a shrimp po' boy and gumbo, which the waitress said was drawing raves. The gumbo tasted like the stock was a commercial product, as did the remoulade on the shrimp. The sandwich bread looked and tasted like it came right out of the Piggly Wiggly bag. None of it was bad, it just wasn't great, either. ... Everybody was very nice, though, and the place was full of regulars so I'll go back and give it another try.

This is a very comfortable establishment. One can obviously get a drink at the bar, but it is really a nice restaurant with an upscale feel appropriate for a date. I got the feeling is it a popular place to show up at. When we arrived around 7PM on Wednesday night, the place was packed. We were lucky to get a table and the servers were reasonably attentive, considering the number of waiters to customers. It took a little while. The menu is small and has very few vegetarian options. The only substantial meal is the cheese quesidilla, which was somewhat expensive for just being cheese, some veggies, and tortillas. It was tasty and substantial. Not a place for vegetarians. My friend had the gumbo soup. He said it was not very filling nor tasted like any gumbo he had ever had before, but it was nevertheless tasty. He had a piece of coconut pie, which is made there in the store, and said it was excellent. While there, a group of college-age kids came in with their instruments and played some jazz numbers. It was a reasonable volume and well enough done. I recommend the place. It's a pleasant bar/grill to eat and/or drink at.

This is a pretty small establishment that is geared more toward going there with some coworker's after work to chill out. There's not much standing room, which is what I look for when listening to live music...or drinking in general. It's a good starter spot, but not where I like to spend the majority of my night.

I had not been to Oak Hill in years and was enticed by their lunch specials the majority of which are only $7.00. They generally include a meat & two veggies. I had the grilled chicken with white bbq sauce and it was really solid. The portion was unexpectedly small but I think all of us can agree a small portion might be a good thing every once in a while. Overall a great meal and a nice causal atmosphere.

I've only been here a few times and it's always been for a late happy hour on a week night. Each time it has been relaxing, comfortable, and not overly crowded. The nice female bartender gives prompt table service and we've never had to wait on a drink. That's all good and dandy, but there's one reason we continue to go back.. the popcorn. For real, they give you free popcorn. For them, it keeps you thirsty and drinking. For you, it keeps you full of delicious popcorn. Popcorn.

I'm actually surprised by the number of times I've been here. It isn't a bar I would normally go to, but a good friend of mine lived nearby and Oak Hill is really the only bar in the area. So if we decided to go out somewhere and my buddy wanted to stay on his side of the mountain, we had to settle on Oak Hill. It's not a bad bar, just not exactly my style. It is small and the regulars are on the oldish side. I've been there a few times for lunch and wouldn't say it's anything to write home about, but the shrimp po' boy somehow placed second on a local radio station's "best sandwich" countdown, so maybe others are tasting something I'm not. I don't recall ever seeing any drink specials or happy hour, but I might be getting there too late. They will periodically have live music (just a guy with an acoustic) and charge an odd 3 dollar cover. In short, if you live in Homewood, want to stick close to home and are looking for a more subdued atmosphere, Oak Hill is a good idea.
