This is a quality burger joint and a good price. It is a good lunch or casual dinner spot. You walk up to the counter to order. When your order is ready they will call you up to get it. There is a lot of seating. It is a long room. I ordered a Mooyah Burger with cheddar on wheat. For my toppings I chose; lettuce, relish, onions, jalapenos and spicy ranch. The toppings are free for the most part so you can really build what you want. I added a side of fries to go with it. The burger was tasty. I may have overdone it with the toppings though because the bun was quickly falling apart. I was happy with the overall taste and quality of the burger. The fries were pretty good too. I was tempted to try a shake, but I was so full after my meal I decided against that. They had some tasty sounding shake options available.

Mooyah is a convenient burger joint right on the campus of UAB. Their burgers and fries are very reminiscent to that of Five Guys, and I can't say that it was a memorable dining experience. It's cool that they have milkshakes, but I didn't try one when I went. Service is quick, and this place is bustling with grad students and health professionals during the lunch hour. Parking can be a little rough, so if you're already in the area I recommend walking instead of driving.

Somewhere between Five Guys and Yeah! Burger. They have burgers, hot dogs, fries, shakes, and salads. Lots of toppings plus you have the option of a turkey or veggie patty. Great tasting burgers plus a tray full of fries. Nice place to spend your Blazer Bucks as well. Doesn't look it from the outside, but this place has plenty of room with a nice, clean dining room. If you like burgers, give it a try.

Good, solid place. We were driving through, back to ATL. Found this place on Yelp. Other reviewers have it right -- it's solid. Good fries. Turkey burger was good. Hubby said beef burger was good. Fresh bread. Strawberry shake was tasty. Clean overall. If I lived in Birmingham, I'd go back.

First big turnoff, really slow ordering. There were two folks in front of us and it took almost ten minutes. Second big turnoff, burgers are only served well done. Third big turn off, burgers came out smushed comically thin and cooked to death - way past well done until the meat was gray and tasteless. The fries were way too salty. Bonus points for house baked bread and fresh toppings. The meal is served on a cool metal tray. Sadly, you can't overcome the subpar meat. Mooyah is a bland and unforgettable clone of five guys. If you're going to knock off a place, copy one that's actually good.

*Update: I'm editing this review. The fact that they've taken the veggie burger off their menu is absurd. This was my go-to for a quality veggie burger. Oh well. **Update #2: Restoring original review. Thanks for bringing back the veggie burger. ------- Previous 4-star review: This is a Five Guys with better vegetarian options. They make a really good homemade black bean burger. Then, like Five Guys, you can load it up with all sorts of things including jalapenos, fried onion strings, and mushrooms to name a few. Before I knew they fried the french fries in the same oil as fried chicken they use in their salads (if that's a big deal for you), I'd order them routinely as they were some of the best fries I've had. They put in just enough cajun spices to it that you can taste it but it's not overpowering. I've ordered in person and on their app, which is super convenient. They make everything to order once you arrive, so everything is very fresh. Everyone at the UAB location has been really nice and accommodating. I once showed up at 8:55pm and they were more than happy to serve me without any compromise in quality. Overall this is one of the better veggie burgers I've had. It just happens to be at a chain. I'll keep coming here when I'm craving a quality veggie burger.

Mooyah has become my favorite place to get a burger! The beef has a very thin layer of crispiness on the outside and the meat is flavorful/juicy without being greasy. They have a fantastic selection of burger toppings. One order of fries is huge and comes to you hot and crispy. I see a lot of reviews comparing them to the guys burgers/fries, however guy's burgers are a little greasy to me and their fries are not crisp, just limp. I like crisp! Each place is totally different so try them both out and see what you prefer. You may like both! Enjoy!

Mooyah gives you the power of choice, like a choose-your-own-burger adventure. I love all these options! I am a condiment junkie, so seeing their sauce selection was satisfying. Bonus points for having sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, avocado, and pepper jack as burger addons. Their options are varied but not overwhelming. I got a single cheeseburger. and a small sweet potato fry - basically, a combo without a drink. It was MORE than enough food, and I'm one of those big eaters. They also have milkshakes, in many flavors, but I might have to make a special trip for one of those. The sweet potato fries are good but they're almost more like a sweet dessert than a savory side. All in all, I'm super glad this place has been added to my lunch break repetoire, and I will definitely be back to try the turkey burger and the vegetarian black bean burger. And of course, one of those milkshakes. Note: If you work in the area or have a limited lunch break, I would recommend ordering online and picking up. The Tuesday after they opened, the line almost wrapped around the restaurant. Otherwise, lunch rush + new restaurant = busy busy busy, so if you plan to dine in bring some comfy shoes to wait in. It seemed like the line was moving fast, however, and the folks behind the assembly line were handling it like champions.

Finally made it out to this new place. I was very impressed, even with high expectations! The burger was high quality for a good price, albeit a bit too greasy. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had, and the sweet tea was solid. I also liked the atmosphere and variety of seating types. Glad you're in the neighborhood, Mooyah! Pro tip: the portion sizes are enormous. I just get the kid's-size meal, which is plenty.

I went back to Mooyah last week they got my order right. And the double Mooyah I ordered was sooo juicy and tasty. I will come back again.

Mooyah is like the Shake Shack of the South. Great sweet potato fries too!

So good. Food was excellent, staff was accommodating to our always difficult 11 person family, the burgers are delicious the buns are soft and so good. Fries were just okay. Milkshake is a plus compared to five guys, but the meat is a smaller portion and that matters to me. Be prepared to pay just about 10 dollars a person

My experience at this location was much better than the experience at the colonnade location. The fries and my burger were just right. Moo yah is almost on the same level as five guys. I tried the Hershey's chocolate shock and it was amazing! Great place for lunch. I'll make this one of my lunch time spots!

Dear idiot employees of Moo Yah: When a customer is standing in line it means that the customer wants to order something. It also means that said customer showed enough initiative to walk into your restaurant. When the phone rings and another customer is attempting to call in an order there are 2 things you should conclude: 1. The customer on the phone is lazy; and 2. The customer on the phone should have to wait UNTIL you don't have someone (who was there first) standing at your counter waiting to order. If you show preferential treatment to the bozo on the phone then do not be surprised when the customer at the counter leaves and never ever darkens your door again. Yours truly, The non-lazy customer who actually walked into your restaurant tonight and thinks you have idiot dumb-ass employees who are too stupid to have any sense of decorum whatsoever

Burgers are good and you choose all the toppings to your liking. The sweet potato fries are great! They cook to order so you have to wait a few minutes.

That's a bad-ass veggie burger you got there, Mooyah. I can tell you made that patty from scratch. Keep on doing what you do.

Fries = 4 stars, burger = 2 stars, average is 3 stars. The burger wasn't anything special. Well done is your only option and, as a result, the burger itself wasn't especialy juicy. However, the amt of mustard & ketchup that they administered cause the wheat bun to disintegrate eventually. And the house-made buns are much smaller than the burger. I'm all for offering large, thin patties, but since they make their own buns, why not make them the same size as the patties? However, the fries are very, very good. I can and will make a meal out of just them.

What can I say?? I can appreciate a good burger with lots of options. However, I must say that this had to be the messiest, greasiest, wettest burger I have had in a long time. It was just too much and all of that made if difficult to taste and enjoy the meat. They give you a fairly good portion of fries but they were VERY salty. Didn't really enjoy my food whatsoever. I have definitely had better.

Nothing amazing stands out about this place except for the cornucopia of side toppings that you can put on your burger. I believe a lot of those side items were free too, so load up your burger if you come here. The meal overall was a little pricey but you're definitely given a lot of food. Definitely worth checking out at least once.

This past Thursday night my friend and I joined 2 other friends at this place, and I'll say this now: we will be back. It's a lot like 5 Guys, only the burgers are better and not as pricey. You have the option of ordering one or two patty burgers and there is s nice list of options that can be added. You can order regular French fries, sweet potato fries, or half and half. My friend and I split a medium size order of fries and we had plenty. I had their sweet tea and the good thing is that it wasn't so sweet that you felt like you could lapse into a diabetic coma at any minute. My friend got a chocolate shake and he was very pleased with it. Like I said earlier, we will definitely go back.

I eat fast food so rarely and with such self-loathing, it is a testament to the quality of this place that I am willing to write a public review about my experience. I had a milkshake/fry craving that would just not quit today. Between a brutal week at work and an impending migraine, my self-control eroded precipitously and I found myself, coworkers in tow, at Mooyah. I was pleased with the milkshake options and ended up going for my comfort flavor: mint chocolate chip with a small order of sweet potato fries. The workers were cheery, kind and had a great sense of humor. The ordering process was quick and uneventful. The decor was what is expected at a fast-food place, crisp and clean but nothing too orchestrated. The food is prepared in full view of guests (I LOVE this) and was made fresh. My colleagues ordered burgers and were very pleased with the outcome... a picture-worthy sandwich with a heaping portion of fries. I was equally pleased with my milkshake/fry combo. The milkshake was clearly made with real milk products, had a hearty serving of chocolate flakes and a decent, but not overwhelming, serving of mint syrup (the only fault was that the syrup was not completely blended... picky, I realize). The fries were crisp on the outside, soft on the inside and well seasoned. I appreciated their willingness to (and non-judgement in) handing over over copious amounts of side mayo (it was a rough day, okay?!). Bonus: garlic salt on the table, yum. I honestly didn't expect to like this place but I was very impressed... it borders on being too nice to be considered fast food. Recommended, especially for those in the UAB/Southside working district.

Great service with a home made burger makes this my go to burger spot!! The girl taking my order was very helpful with the ordering process. The manager brought me my meal and checked on me several times. Customer service is rare these days. I was blown away!

Love this place. The black bean veggie burger on ice is my favorite, but I also frequently order the turkey burger on ice. The staff is very nice.
