What makes this place great is the customer service! The staff is super friendly! My waitress, I believe her name was Erin, made the experience even better. She was so nice and courteous to my mother and myself. The food was superb. We ordered the chicken fajitas for two and it was more than enough. It was also priced quite fairly. If you love chips and salsa, they make their own fresh everyday. Both the chips and salsa are made in house!

I had high hopes for this place. A great Mexican restaurant within walking distance of my apartment? Yes, please! Unfortunately, it was terrible. We ordered the fish tacos (bland), the chicken enchiladas (more like soggy tacos), and the shrimp fajitas (so spicy it had no flavor). The only saving grace was the guacamole and salsa...

Ben and John are the best servers! Super attentive and I'm definitely coming back after how greatly they treated me. It was glorious!

Sooo disappointing!!!!! My boyfriend and I spent $50 on the two of us and our 1 year old... AND we didn't even order any alcohol. The hostess up front was rude and hardly greeted us as she was so busy on her phone. We were the only people in the place for an early supper. We both ordered quesadillas. The shredded chicken quesadilla was literally dripping in orange bubbly grease, I couldn't even eat it. I lifted it up and grease was pouring off the soggy, nasty thing!! Our entrees didn't come with any rice or beans, just a nasty, soggy quesadilla. I mean, how hard is it to make a chicken quesadilla?! My son, who ordered off the kids menu totally out-ordered us!! At least his cheese quesadilla came with rice and beans and no grease! Ugh. Everyone I talk to says the same thing... So disappointing because we can walk there and it would be awesome if it was actually GOOD!!! In a nut shell, I'm sure the place isn't going to last much longer. OR, they better step it up!! We will stick to El Cazador... they are consistent and have much more reasonable prices.

This place is incredible!!! The menu has so so so many incredibly creative and delicious options I wanted to order multiple entrees! SO good. Best Mexican in Birmingham hands down, refuse to go anywhere else now

The menu is good but the margaritas need work! The cheese dip is pretty standard and good. I like the tacos and enchiladas. The salsa and chips are both good and not bland. I have gotten takeout exclusively and have never sat and eaten here. The patio looks nice.

The menus were filthy and while the servers were attentive the food took one hour and thirty mins. Half our group of 8 were served 20 minutes before the rest, even though several ordered the same dish. The food when it did finally come it was marginal at best. The fish tacos were cold and the steak quesadillas were chewy. Salads were pretty good. Server was apologetic about the delay but made no effort to adjust the bill. We won't be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
