BBQ brisket and pork link were excellent. Sides were average.

Update: I just got back from having dinner at this location tonight. Indeed, it used to be a Hardees but that should have no bearing on reviewing this restaurant. After all, some of the best BBQ I've had was served in hole in the wall restaurant. I have to laugh at the review where someone's wife was whining about the football décor. The Restaurant was founded by Pat James who was the assistant football coach for Alabama under Bear Bryant so complain about the football décor is just ridiculous! I mean, I could do without the ugly War Eagle stuff on the wall. It would have been nice to see Some Georgia Dawg memorabilia! Who am I to complain though? Roll Tide came thru and whipped that Gator tail so I can live with all of the Alabama stuff! ROLL TIDE! Tonight I had the Chicken and Ribs Combo. The chicken was great and the ribs were pretty darn good although I do prefer baby back ribs. I had to order another piece of carrot cake to take back to the hotel. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town. Previous Review: I ate here on business with some coworkers. Actually, it was the Hoover location but that one isn't available in Yelp so I am leaving my review here. (I will check this location out tonight) I ordered the 2 meat plate with Pork and Brisket along with a half rack of BBQ Baby Back Ribs. The Brisket was very fatty and really wasn't edible. I've had brisket here before and it was always good so it must have been an off night. If it weren't for that I would have rated it 5 stars. The rest was so good that I really didn't feel liek complaining so I didn't. In the end we all had plenty to eat! I took a carrot cake back to the hotel for dessert and it was fantastic!

Well I wasn't expecting much based on what looks like a converted Burger King location at this site in Birmingham... the food and sauce was pretty damn good... probably more at the 3.5 level... maybe a 4 if they had mustard based sauce as an option and the chicken on her salad was pretty dry... slathering some bbq sauce took care of that pretty quick, but the salad dressing did not... Anyway the atmosphere was nothing to write home about, but the food was... and fairly reasonable... the pulled pork platter was under 9 bucks... I was very happy and would eat there again... the manager was super friendly and waited on us with drink refills when low... he saw we were not from here and recommended some choices on the menu... very nice touch.

When I am in the mood for good BBQ I prefer Full Moon. Don't really care that it used to be in an old Hardees. I ordered the standard pork sandwich and it was stacked full. The meat was moist and had a good flavor. The chow-chow slaw they put on top was good. Make sure to get the additional warm BBQ sauce and add to the sandwhich. It puts it over the top.

A good trainer friend of mine took me here for lunch. I had the open faced-pulled pork BBQ on texas toast with a sweet tea to wash it down. SUPER yummy!!! My friend had the uber giant potato....which looked good but it would take 3 men to finsh that thing. Place was clean, staff was friendly and there are plenty of selections. Women, your men will love the motif..all sports memoribilia. :-) Oh yea...get the cookies..they were a wonderful end to a great meal!

Good southern barbecue and service has never been a problem. Slab or ribs with beans, slaw and the garlic bread is the way to go.

You can't deny that these guys make some delicious BBQ. However, my one experience with the service that I was here when I went to visit my friends here in Birmingham left something more to be desired. I don't know if they were just short on the holiday weekend (Memorial Day weekend), but things seemed to be a bit slow. First, I had to wait about 10 minutes after placing my order by the counter for them to realize that they forgot to give me my soda cup. Second, a friend in our group got her credit card appear to have been charged twice. When we asked the person who identified herself as the manager, she remarked that she was unable to produce a receipt and proceeded to explain how this was akin to making a hotel reservation, an explanation that was clearly a cop-out that, "No, we're not going to verify if we charged your card twice by accident." Needless to say, we were able to correct this when my friend's husband came up to the manager later and asked for an explanation. Lastly, another couple in our group waited for at least another 15 minutes after I had waited about 10 minutes for my cup from the counter, again for unclear reasons as to why this should have taken so long. The food is worth a taste, as I hear this is the real mccoy when it comes to Bama BBQ...but the service definitely soured my perception, at least on this day.

I drove from my home which is in St Clair county to Fultondale just to get the Bar-B-Q pork sandwiches & onion rings for me & my mom. I clocked the milage & it is 30.3 miles one way. I have made this trip several times before & it is worth it. The BBQ is outstanding & the best that I have ever eaten. And the onion rings are to die for. They give you generous helpings of food also & the prices are reasonable. The Full Moon is clean & the atmosphere is upscale. The personnel is friendly & polite so what more could you ask for? I pass up 4 BBQ resturants on my way & believe me they can not compare. I know, because I have eaten at all 4 establishments. I will return to get more Bar-B-Q because it is the best.

The ribs are positively Flinstonian in size. Be prepared to eat a lot if you're going this route. Also, the baked potatoes seem to be some sort of cross pollinated mutants. They're so big they look like someone managed to graft three of them together into a gigantic uber-spud. Huge portions aside, the food here is pretty good. Nice range of sides, and the view of fifty chickens smoking on a grill over the shoulder of the register operator is nice: lets you see the real cooking going on and fills the whole restaurant with a nice smoky flavor. If you're not a devotee of Alabama or Auburn athletic teams, the overwhelming volume of sports memorabilia will irritate you. I managed to tune it out, but my wife hates football with a passion and I could tell it was bugging her to see football helmets and photos covering every square inch of the restaurant.

Love this place. Open face chicken sandwich is great. Onion rings, pies and sauce is great. One of my favorite BBQ places in in the south. Service is great at this location.
