Well, I came here thinking it was the Semi-Chain from Atlanta and it wasn't :( so no massive burrito challenge for me, at least not in Trussville. What I did find was a standard, affordable Mexican place to satisfy me after a movie. The decor was like a whole bunch of different colored mini-houses. For some reason I felt like I was in Wonka's factory, and no I don't have a justification for that feeling. I imagine Cervezas were involved during the design phase. The chips were prompt (important). The salsa needed more kick/spice for my tastes. It was fairly bland. I ordered Chicken Fajitas. My mind tells me that most stuff at places like this are served out of a bucket and reheated (thanks Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares), so I figure that at lease Fajitas would be reheated on the skillet pan instead of the microwave. So no, not high expectations going in. It came out 3 minutes after ordering...uh oh. Standard fajita accompaniment. Friendly wait staff btw. I must say it wasn't bad. Nothing earth shattering but better than I was expecting. I enjoyed this and if you want the standard Mexican, have at it!

It's ok. Not very nice waiter. Food .. Well not much meat. They put lots of onions and peppers. And very LITTLE meat for the money

This is a really awesome place inside. The decor is very unique and colorful. The menu looks like your average Mexican restaurant menu. The service and staff were great. I have to rave about the women's bathroom. It was very clean and nicely decorated, with 5 stalls! If you're a woman, you'll understand the importance of this. I decided to order the steak, chicken, & shrimp fajitas off the lunch special. The price was adequate, but the dish was lacking meat and flavor. I prefer more flavor in my Mexican food, but if you like a more bland taste you would love it. That's the only reason I can't give 5 stars.

This place used to be much better, and we came here every time we were in B'ham. Our recent visit a couple of weeks ago was also our last to this joke of a restaurant. The food was marginal at best, and seems to come straight from a can, heated up in a microwave... The margaritas were terrible, with barely any cheap tequila in them. And at the prices they charge (for both food and drinks), it's basically a rip-off To make matters worse, the "host" guy at the front refused to seat us until our entire party had arrived, even though there were plenty of empty tables. (I wanted to grab a drink at a table while I waited).... I noticed another group of 2 people sitting down at a round 6-top with 4 other menus placed at each chair, so I asked the same host guy why they could be seated, but not us. He replied that the other people in that group were in the restroom, grinning while he said it, so I watched closely to see what happened. The asshole LIED! The other people came in the front doors from the parking lot a few minutes later. What a douchebag Never again

Years ago, this was THE Mexican restaurant to go to in Trussville. My most recent experience there was not very good. The portion sizes have gotten a lot smaller and prices have gotten higher. The food was bland and the service was also terrible. We will go to one of the many other Mexican places in the area from now on.

Amazing food! Seasoning was on point..coming out in sizzling plates. Cheese dip and salsa was the best that I've had. Two thumbs up from nyc

Although I'm usually a loyal habaneros customer, every now and then i don't feel like going over the mountain to habaneros. Frontera isn't as good, but it'll still hit the spot if you're in the mood for tex-mex. Their burrito relleno is great, as is their salsa.

I've never had a bad experience here. The service is always great and the food is wonderful. The salsa has just the right blend of taste and spicy. Nothing negative to say at all

We just had our usual for dinner. The mole enchilada (brown) sauce is the best...I'm a connoisseur of enchiladas. Frontera's take-out is convenient and tasty. The restaurant is comfortable for dining as well. Being repeat customers, they know our usual orders. And they are close to home. Seriously, we went to Arizona this past May and Frontera has better mole sauce than any Mexican I had out West.
