El Poblano... I always am a fan of promoting good people putting a good thing out there but I gotta say... Personally, I just felt like they don't have the passion. Nowadays to compete I think it's important. We ordered guacamole and it was literally greyish brown... The taco salad was just wilted lettuce and cheese and my wife had fajitas which she said was ok but we both had the "pink styrofoam" tomato slice on top of our dish... The salsa was very good. I will say that. Every cheap Mexican joint I have ever been to is pretty dang good but this is the first one in a while where we were both like nope. Won't be back here. I dont understand... They have been there a while... Maybe the staff is just over it and quality just isn't a focus anymore. I was bummed. We spend our hard earned money to eat out once in a while and it's so disappointing when its not good because we don't get to all of the time. How hard is it to do a better job? They did seem like very nice people though.

We have supported El Pab since they opened and consistently seen it go downhill! Makes me sad, but there is to much competition so close, I would hate to see them close, but we gave it another shot tonight and were very disappointed! Sorry for the bad review, but that is only how you improve! Service was friendly and fast, but food was not good! Use to have the best margarita's......but not good tonight.

Salsa and chips were nothing special. Service was slow and nothing special. I'm rating 1 star because I went on a date here and ordered a chicken quesadilla. When the waiter dropped it off he had a strange look on his face and when I took my first bite I realized the chicken was lukewarm and almost watery... I only swallowed one bite before I stopped eating it. Now where the punch comes in... I took my date home to watch a movie and not 30 minutes into it I had a rumbling bowel movement followed by uncontrollably stink bombs which I ran into the other room to unload. It was hell. My stomachs felt like an atomic bomb went off and I had no choice but to take my date home early; I sped the whole way home and spent almost the entire night trying to balance facing the toilet and sitting on it... Worst food experience of my life. I haven't had Mexican in 5 years because of it.

The best top shelf margarita that I have ever had. The food is fantastic. All of the servers are great. The owner is very personable. I have a eaten at this establishment many times visiting the area. I will continue to go back time and time again.

Very good family owned Mexican restaurant. The grilled chicken soft tacos are delicious and the salsa is always fresh.

Went on a Saturday evening. Fast and friendly service. Very good, fresh frozen strawberry margarita. They have happy hour from 2-6 Mon-Fri. Unlimited chips and salsa. The salsa has a tomato paste taste so that's minus one star. We had the Tres Tacos al Carbon with chicken and beef to share. Lots of food and wonderful tasting meat. We will definitely be going back!!

This is the best Mexican food in Birmingham! Especial Pablanos are THE BEST! My hubby & I eat here often and no matter what we order, it's really good! Service is superb! Margaritas are to die for!

Hands down, best Mexican food in Birmingham! Margs are slightly weak so unless you're downing a solo pitcher, stick to the Coronas.

I wish I could give this place more stars since the waitress's was very friendly and the chips were warm... But it lacked a bit in everything else. I had the fish tacos and I would probably stick with this if I end up here again. At least they were generous with the portions and it did come with a medley of warmed up veggies and some stuck together not any flavor yellow rice. I had to put extra salsa over everything I ordered to have more flavor. For a fast lunch that won't break the bank- your fine to meet up here. If your looking for mouthfuls of flavor. Go elsewhere ! (And I did not even bother to take photos of any of our entrees.)

Prices were great. I ordered the Fajitas, dining partner ordered the Burrito Relleno. Both came out hot and were delicious. No complaints except from him in that the burrito could have been a little bigger. It was the perfect size for him, but someone with a larger appetite may have been a little disappointed. All in all a positive experience. Very friendly wait staff. We will be back. :)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
